printer uses ink cartridge three colors to print instead of black.

I have an officejet G4500 510n-z.  I have three colors (which is low-ink at the moment) and brand new black ink cartridge.  Whenever I have print something, it will default the tricolour cartridge even though I wish that everything in black and white print.  I looked for reasons why he does this and can not find.  Someone knows how to solve?  Help, please.

  • Ink cartridge three colors will not work

I have a HP Photosmart C4680 - tried to install the new tri color cartridge this morning - did not get the usual opinion of real HP part.

Only thing is message on printer "Print cartridge problem" no other no lights on printer - don't know how to print the message.

I reinstalled old cartridge and everything works except not red, that's why a cartridge installed again.  Can I remove the new tri color cartridge and printer works in black mode.

Cartridge purchased at Wal-Mart and they won't take it back because the package has been opened.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion - but after to achieve the India and information given to the worker - then, he had need of my serial number printer - printer was upstairs and I was on the phone long enough--I hung up.

I now fear because of another cartridge because I might be too stuck with it. Will use only black ink now much cheaper.  Thanks again

  • DeskJet 940c now prints only black and the roses of the cartridge three colors. How to fix?

Windows XP, no error message. New drivers, then software update from HP, reinstall printer driver. New cartridge is same as cartridge that has begun to do that, so I don't think it's cartridges.  The former was relatively new and unused.

I tried everything for Self-Help to find out the cause and get the solution.  Will appreciate the known solutions.  Thank you.

After continuing checking the new drivers, etc...  I tried something that should be obvious.

The cartridge three original colors in full, 50% was only pink printing.  Changed to NEWLY opened cartridge: who would have thought a cartridge newly opened with 90% of ink indicated, would not print pink, while the first new cartridge print pink single - as well...

Dazzling idea : tried yet opened a 2nd cartridge three colors, and it prints correctly.

A cartridge on the set, never opened, was obviously NOT COMPLETE with all the colors...  It happens, but this is the first time for me since 1996.  Thank you for reading, the original - thought I should know all, "user error".  If this never happens to you, you will have heard about this already!  I hope it doesn't happen, lost two days on this subject...  See you soon!

  • Can I use ink cartridges installed in my new printer:

I have a Photosmart 6520 all-in-one printer. Just replaced all the cartridges and then printer stop working. Bought a 6520 refurbished HP but instructions say only to use the cartridges supplied with the printer for the initial implementation. The so-called "setup" on each cartridge cartridges. The seller HP indicated the printer with new ink cartridges so my intention was not to use the new cartridges. Keep them sealed and use cartridges that I had just opened and inserted in the old printer.

My question: when the cartridges 'setup' to run out of ink, can I use the cartridges from the printer 6520 old?

Short answer, Yes.  You must first use installing cartridges.  Once done, you should be able to use the others.

  • Black ink cartridge replaced HP Photosmart 5514 and the black cartridge does not print

    HP photosmart 5514

    Windows 7

no error appears in the window, acts as he is very well, printing just no black ink is on the paper.

I just replaced the black cartridge with the right product from HP, the installation went well.

    Hello

Have you checked that the cartridge is properly ventilated? Have you tried running a clean print head?

If a pipe is clogged, carefully clean with a PIN.
  • Fill new used ink cartridges refilled HP 1510xi all-in-one.

I have 5 HP printers and still actively using 3 models of all-in-One: 1510xi; 5610xi; and J6480.  Reloaded 1510xi black cartridges (6) 92 (1) color cartridge 93 and 92 all will not work after update to install HP all-in-One. HP updates may have put an end to refill these cartridges. I had no problem before and refills limited to 4 or 5 max before you buy new cartridges.

All cartridges except for the color display the error and won't print.  I replaced these cartridges with those who have not refilled and error warning does not, so it seems to be updated.

Has anyone encounter this type of problem? Or know a solution apart from buying new in the use of reloaded cartridges?

The only solution I know is using new genuine HP ink cartridges. Using ink filled or rebuilt is bad for the printer. If you have printers that are still under warranty, filled or rebuilt ink using the warranty of ink systems. The rest of the printer is still under warranty, but the print head and of any other part of the system of ink will not.

  • replace the ink cartridges and now I get no output black (although the colors seem to work). Help?

With the help of a printer C410e/HP Photosmart Premium e-ALL-IN-ONE, I went through the original ink cartridges without any problem.  I have received warnings that the ink was low and bought the HP 564XL cartridges and installed according to the instructions.  Now, the output seems only to print the color inks, but not black.  After trying help indicating to try pulling the plug for 30 seconds and then plug, I got about 2 pages of output stained and white pages and then again.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I solved this by buying another cartridge of black ink.   Guess I got ripped off on my previous purchase.  The two were the same shop HP ink cartridges.

  • Used ink cartridges

I dropped my 5530 printer all-in-one so I bought a new. I installed the ink cartridges I had just installed in the old printer, the new printer and got an error message saying that the cartridges are usable in the printer being installed origanally in, is there a way around this? I wouldn't throw the new ink

    Thank youi

Do you have Protection enabled in the old printer cartridge? If so, these cartridges can only be used in the old printer. You must use the new cartridge of the INSTALLATION in the new printer anyway.

  • using three colors instead of the HP C4780 black print cartridge

can I set up my printer to use the cartridge three colors to black and white or regular print?  (I buy black cartridges and lights all but seem to only use black).  THX!

    Hi winter1420,

    Welcome to the HP forums!

I see that you want to print using only the color on your Photosmart C4780 cartridge. I'd be happy to help you with that

Looking the Page 50 of your User Guide, I would say that Yes, it is possible to configure the printer to print with just the cartridge three colors. Please note that your black from the color cartridge is perhaps not exactly black as explained on page 50 in the Guide of the user as well.

Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

  • I found the FIX for the problem of HP4500 ink cartridge!

I had problems with my ink cartridge three colors... just like many others. After searching endlessly with no solution to the problem, I decided to take a flashlight and look inside the printer. What I found was a piece that had become crooked behind my color cartridge. It was a simple solution... I took a long thin to flat head screwdriver and pushed very GENTLY in place. I then ran a TEST PAGE and ALIGNMENT before I printed anything... it worked! Here is a picture I took before I did the setting of the insert on the left hand side, it's here that the color cartridge is going... If you notice, it appears to be crooked... he slipped easily right now in place. I've reintroduced the cartridges and closed the door. IMPORTANT * make sure that you unplug your printer before attempting to solve this problem * good luck and hope it's a permanent and not temporary solution

    Hi coolinutah,

Thanks for the valuable information and goot to know that you were able to correct and solve the problem.

  • Always printing black ink cartridge is not after several clean using your own ink cartridges

I have a HP Deskjet 3050 All in One J610 series printer.

    I use Windows XP.

I'm a Newbie as HP printers are concerned, but some have experience troubleshooting former HP model a parent.

The black cartridge is not printing.   For various reasons, I have not used the printer for about two months.  So far, the printer worked fine, and in fact it is still using the cartridges that came with the printer.  I mention these points here because I realize or the other or both can be part of the issue.

When I sent a document to the printer, printing was uneven.  I checked ink levels and black and color cartridges were about the third two full (before I used the print head cleaning utility.

After cleaning the printheads, I tried again and this time the impression was the same, but in a shade of light blue, which was very low.  However, the original document is in a police man and a shade of gray, so perhaps he used ink cartridge color and not black?

Research using the viewer help from HP does not help because it implies that you don't know how to locate the ink cartridge Clean Utility.

After searching on Google to match the questions, I tried a second and then a third level of cleaning.  And because a post mentioned have to do eight times, I did a little more luck.  When the page is printed at the end of the cleaning cycle, the colors come out crisp and even.  There is no black bloc... is there?  I can't find an image showing a what print perfect following cleaning should look like.

Additional to clean using the utility attempts do not seem to have worked and could even have been counterproductive because when I tried to print another document, and this came out so pale that I first thought that it is a blank page.

I used the utility to re-estimated ink levels and the color is always about two third full, while black has dropped a little down, but is still above half full.  There is a check/tick showing for black ink and color.

Messages on similar questions suggest that the replacement of the cartridge does not solve the problem and that heads should be cleaned manually.

Should I try to clean the heads manually?  Who was mentioned on the threads and even on the HP support but as another option for a very different model.   I watched some demos on You Tube, but they are for different models of HP, in which they remove the printheads and clean them in a solution provided in the trade which I think is available in the United Kingdom, or with water!

I would be grateful for any advice as to whether I should remove the black cartridge and clean heads printing and, if so, if someone could point me to a link where this is illustrated step by step, video, or shown in the logical steps.

In the meantime I'll go off and buy a new black cartridge, but if it's the heads need cleaning, I'll have to do anyway.

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

I would like to manually clean the contacts on the cartridges and the printer. The process is described for your model of printer in step 3 of this document here.  The rest of the document does not apply to your question, but it does a great job giving instructions step by step on the manual cleanup process and materials needed to use lists. Manual cleaning will help ensure that the accumulation of contacts is not the cause of the issue of the print quality that you are experiencing. I hope this helps.
