DeskJet F4480 does not recognize ink cartridges

I bought a second hand F4480 deskjet all-in-one.  I have run it on Mac OS 10.5.  Installing new ink cartridges purchased from HP.  Get the error saying that HABs has failed and black is absent.  I uninstalled the printer software and reinstalled.  I've checked everything.  Nothing works.  It won't recognize that both cartridges are full.  Can't do anything with continuous flashing error light.

Help please!  I am ready to throw this printer at the door!

    My printer has ceased to recognize its ink cartridges. In a first stage, the problem happened occasionally and could be fixed by installing and reinstalling the cartridges or just wait a few days, but now it is continuous.

    The cartridges are genuine, they are the ones that came with the printer. I removed the, checked the contacts of the four. They look damaged or dirty, but used a cloth to clean all anyway. Put back them, did not help. Checked the latch, it was in the correct position. I even tried the restart without result.

    I tried to replace the cartridge with a new one (again, product HP genuine), but does not replace the printer either. And because all cartridges have failed at the same time, I can hardly belive the problem lies in them.

    I come from Finland, and I've not found a phone number, I could ask for help. Does one exist even for my country?

    Please help; my HP Deskjet 940c is not recognize my black ink cartridge and tried to clean the cartridge.  I have tried almost evrything but help would be very appreciated.  I am running windows XP.

    There are a few steps to help solve this problem located here.

    If you tried to change the cartridge and clean the contacts, then you've done several of the steps already in order to answer the question.

    You can consider replacing the printer as well if the steps do not fix the issue. Have you considered the available through the Support of HPupgrade program, if the unit is out of warranty?

  • DeskJet 4625: HP deskjet 4625 does not show ink levels in app AiO

    Two related problems please, it seems Windows 10 last updated:

    1. after the update, I was able to get the printer going again to remove and reinstall then using the latest HP driver (from the HP site) and as a plugged USB printer. Works fine, but I see no longer the ink levels. AiO says "information is not available at this time." Can someone tell how can I see the suply of ink levels. Don't help out them and their detention until the window!

    2. I would like to go back to a wireless connection that I had before the cleaned Windows 10 update only. Should I reinstall completely? We have dubious wireless here and I had connected the TWO Wireless USB before which was easy because I've always had a connection. Is it still possible?

    To check the ink levels estimated from the printer control panel

    1. from the home screen, press the (Setup) button.

    2. using the buttons on the right, select information of ink and then select estimated ink levels.

    For the wireless connection. See Configuring the printer wireless (Windows).

THE PROBLEM IS THAT SHE DID NOT HAVE A COLOR INSIDE CARTRIDGE. AND IS ORIGINAL. WASN'T ' TEMPTY. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS EMPTY, I BOUGHT A NEW ONE AND A PLACE. BUT I LOST MY MONEY BUY A NEW ONE, AND WHEN I PUT IT, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE INK IS FLASHING. AND I CAN'T PRINT IN BLACK OR BECAUSE IT IS SAID THAT HE BOTH CARTRIDGES ON. ANY IDEA?     Have you tried following the instructions here?

    If none of these work, it is likely that you have a hardware failure in your printer, and there is no "serviceable" parts in the printer to solve the problem like this.

  • Cannot use my printer Officejet 4635 to the Mexico. Printer does not recognize the new cartridge.

    I moved my printer in Mexico City, HP Officejet 4635. It uses #61 cartridges. I was told that the 61 in the United States is the same as the #122 to the Mexico. However, the printer say it does not recognize the cartridge.

    Can someone give me some advice?

    Why the printer does not is because the unit is not regionalized for this part of the country.

    To get the printer to work, you will need to contact HP Total Care so that a representative from HP can regionalize the printer for you.

    I'm sorry to hear that your printer does not recognize the black cartridge, and I am happy to help you solve this problem!

    Are getting you any kind of error message about the cartridge? If this is the case, please follow this ink cartridge problem: "Not compatible ink cartridge" or "Ink cartridge must be replaced" message for HP Deskjet 3520 e-all-in-one and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage e-all-in-one 3520 Printer series document and, hopefully, the printer will recognize the cartridge after these steps.

    Maybe that's not the question if you thinking maybe that black ink is not printing? If this is the case, please try these steps printer prints blank Page or not printing black or color ink for HP Deskjet Ink Advantage and Deskjet 3520 e-all-in-one printer series for a possible solution

    I would like to know if these steps help and what happens after trying them and I hope that we can get things working for you!

    My HP Deskjet 5740 printer does not recognize my new HP Photocartridge 348. It is brand new, not expired, official but I only get black prints. I can't find anything useful on the HP support site. The printer is not set to only print in black.

    The cartridge goes in the slot for cartridges of blacks, there is no colourcartridge in the other location at this time. So either he needs a color cartridge to work together (but how to know I'm not only to print my photos with the colourcartridge and using the photocartridge as a black cartridge cheap?) or the printer believes that the photocartridge is just one other black ink cartridge.

    The Photo cartridge has not all the colors, Photo black, cyan and light magenta.  It is used in conjunction with the color cartridge (which feeds the cyan, magenta and yellow) for photo printing.

    If you want to print in color, you will need a color cartridge.  The color cartridge can print in black (approximately) by itself, but the photo or black print cartridge cannot print without the color cartridge color.

    the computer does not print cartridge error, it does not recognize the black cartridge. I removed and installed several times, is based on my printer?

    Contact the manufacturer of your printer and see if there are others who have had the same problem (there may be, there seems to be a common complaint).

    If it is a cartridge refill, rebuilt or third party, it can never work with your printer.

    Give more information, such as the make and model of the printer. is extremely useful. Without specific information, you will get very general assistance.

    I just installed Windows 7 on my Dell 4600. I had Windows XP before and I have problems with my HP Deskjet 722C printer. Windows 7 does not recognize the printer.

    I downloaded the original printer driver. That did not help. I did adapt Windows and Windows Upgrade. They did not help.

    What can I do?

    The Deskjet 720C driver that is available through Windows Update works fine for the Deskjet 722C.  Install using the procedure below .  If you use a 64 bit version of Windows 7, you need to apply the patch available here .
