  • External hard drive Western Digital

I have a Western Digital external hard drive, WD CAviar WD1200BB... it worked great except every now and then Windows would not recognize it.  This is easily fixed by unplugging the USB cable, wait a few seconds and then it reconnect.  Recently, my computer got stop without going through the process to good close.  Since then, Windows does not recognize the hard drive.  I went into Device Manager and there was a warning attached hard disk.  I uninstalled the drive and then installed again, however, now Windows indicates that the drivers are corrupt and it is impossible to install.  Western Digital said they use common drivers normally installed in Windows and I'm contact Windows to solve the problem.  What should I do because there is no update that my computer is telling me that I can install?

Disconnect the hard drive and then go back into Device Manager. See if there's a warning flag in the list of universal Bus controllers. If so, remove the driver. Reboot and it re-charge the driver. Then reconnect the hard drive.

  • Windows 7 does not recognize my external hard drive Western Digital model WD2500B007-NNI. __

Does anyone know how to get the Western Digital external hard drive to work with Windows 7?  The external drive model number is WD2500B007-NNI

    Hello

Do you see any yellow\red exclamation in Device Manager?

I suggest to open disk management and check that if the drive is detected there, here are the steps:

    1. open computer management by clicking the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking system and security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-click computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. in the left pane, click Disk Management.

If the hard drive is recognized in disk management and if there is no letter assigned drive, I suggest you make a right click on the drive and assign a drive letter and check to see if it helps:

    1. click on the drive to change and then click on change drive letter and paths.
    2. do one of the following:
    ·         To assign a drive letter if it has not already received, click Add, click the letter you want to use, and then click OK.
    ·         To change a drive letter, click on edit, click on assign the following drive letter, click the letter you want to use and then click OK.
    ·         To remove a drive letter, click on remove and then click Yes to confirm that you want to remove.

  • Copying files to Western Digital My Passport external hard drive is very slow.

Original title: WD My Passport DHM emits

    Specifications:

Western Digital My Passport Hard Disk (500GB)

    Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 SP1

Laptop Lenovo G470 (USB 2.0 ports) (no infections of malware etc..) (All drvers put updated)

Hello, I have a WD EHD and when I back up my files, I have run into some problems. The copy files dialog box doesn't move (the transfer rate and transferrerd files), I copy .avi, .mp4 movies in the root of the EHD. Sometimes the file transfer goes smoothly (even for large files like 10 GB-towards the top), but sometimes the transfer just freezes and the flashing light signal of the EHD WD just stops flashing. My DHM has also a downward transfer rate (starts for about 50 Kbps or more then deteriorates overtime Kbits/s 5 and lower). Although he manages somehow complete certain transfers of file (.mp3, .jpg and other small files). Note files that executables and other file prone malware as (installers, game and application installers are compressed to the .7z format)

    I tried a few solutions:

    1.) formatting of JEP

2.) remove the partition in disk management and making it again a partition

3.) to uninstall, reinstall the driver in Device Manager

4.) tried on other PC and USB ports

-I don't have a shorter cable to test if this is the problem and I do not hear the crackling sounds or have autumn EHD or pressed (no physical damage). The first time I have this problem was when one of my friends got my infected DHM and I format. Since then, the problem was just if I formatted JEP countless times and he well cleaned. Thanks in advance for your help :)

  • I installed an external USB connected hard drive Seagate, it slowed the computer and check the new disc repeatedly

    Hello

I installed an external USB connected hard drive Seagate to copy some movies and pictures of my HP laptop with Vista, but it became a big problem. It slowed the computer and check the new disc repeatedly. Then it wouldn't start without the external drive at all but it was working fine once he was conducting with the external hard drive. So thinking I can outsmart the computer, I uninstalled the drive from Control Panel. Now it primer not at all. The computer lights up briefly and then goes out of itself almost immediately, is there a solution to this? Thank you

    Original title: startup problem

    Hi SomBhattacharya,

Please try the possible fix following first thanks to Carey Frisch:

    1. open the BIOS of the motherboard.
    2. find where it says Priority Boot Device, then select CD/DVD-ROM 1, 2nd Hard Drive and disable all the rest.
3 find somewhere in the BIOS where it says BOOT USB, Wake on USB, etc. and disable all unnecessary options.

And second if it does not help, you can try the following with Blue Michael:

Local Geek Squad had me intentionally set the BIOS to the correct order, then re-order and SAVE.
It worked, even if the list of the BIOS was always in the right order.

    I hope this helps!

  • Western Digital My Passport showing as a Initio Default Controller

My Western Digital My Passport shows up suddenly as a Initio default controller in Windows 7. I tried all the suggestions in the various committees, but none seems not to work.

My laptop cannot detect the WD My Passport at all. Continues to display a Initio Default Controller.

Can anyone help? the HARD drive has a lot of data that I just can't lose...

    Hey there psp007,

I'm sorry to hear about the problems with your hard drive WD My Passport. I'll try to help him with everything I can.
When you plug the drive into your computer you see it properly (model and capacity) in the BIOS, Device Manager and disk management? Some screenshots would be useful!
Also, I would try to update the operating system and all the drivers, especially those connected to the USB ports and storage external drives if new updates are available.
I also believe that this article would be useful for you: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=XlN3bb

I highly recommend you do not try formatting or play with partitions, because this may cause permanent data loss, particularly when you have important data on the drive.

Post back with some results :)

  • WIN 7 does not detect my HARD internal Western Digital drive WD10EARS

    Hello

WIN 7 can not detect my Western Digital internal HDD WD10EARS (installed in housing Chieftec CEB - 35s - U3) via the USB 3.0 interface.
I see the HARD drive in the control panel > all devices in Control Panel > devices and printers > devices, but I can not see HDD when I open my computer.
Probably the problem with the driver...
    Thanks for help.

    Hi Mojster,

    Try the following.

Step 1: Check if the drive is detected in the disk management utility.

    a. click Start, type diskmgmt.msc in the search box and press enter.

    b. check if the drive is detected and it has a drive letter.

Step 2: If the Player do not have a drive letter assigned, then do it manually. You can follow this article.

  • Cannot detect the boot device after factory new HARD drive format

First of all, I have a HP Pavilion G6 I bought in December 2012. Yesterday, I decided to make a new record HARD to upgrade and start over. It is a hybrid SSD + HDD 1 TB of Seagate. It installed without a hitch, and I used my HP recovery CD to make a factory disk formatting.

He finishes, reboot, but instead to restart the HP Windows 8 installation screens, he goes to what looks like Windows 8 course mode with a box containing the date, time and he said something in the sense of 'Installing the driver HP diagnostics' with an OK. By clicking on that or didn't disappear, and there is a command line bar in the lower left corner of the screen.

The screen becomes a HP screen that begins to install the drivers. It ends and restarts to a black screen that says "no boot device not detected, please install OS."

I did a disk check and that's fine. I swapped my reader, and it loads fine. In fact, it's what I use now for this type.

What could be the problem here? The boot order has never changed in the BIOs. If it was the faulty connector I doubt he would charge the reader who was always in the computer. Load disc newly formatted in an external case indicates that Windows 8 is indeed on this subject, but on a 93GB partition even if the disc is 1 TB.

I'm in a stalemate here, and nobody seems to know what to do!

It was indeed the hybrid propulsion system. I exchanged for a normal HARD drive and resetting factory completed without a hitch. It was the mistake on my part! I never guessed it would have been the problem.

  • External peripheral marking 'hard drive' to lights do not to start?

    Hi all

    I'm under VMPlayer Version 4.0.2 build-591240 on OpenSuSE 11.4.

When running my Windows XP VM yesterday, I added an external 'Hard drive' device to the Virtual Machine.

I added it as a hard drive device and not a USB or SCSI device. But I had a problem this morning when I tried to start the virtual machine by clicking on 'play Virtual Machine' and nothing happened at all. Finally, I tried to plug the HARD drive and then it FINALLY started. I think because VMPlayer stores a vmdk file on that HDD and it needed to be able to find to boot.

It wasn't until I "removed" the 'Hard drive' device (SCSI-2) of the 'Virtual Machine settings' dialog box, it should start without the attached HARD disk...

Is there anyway for me to keep this 'Hard drive' device for my drive external HARD, but still allow it to boot even if it is not attached?

In my "vmx" file, I see these options:

    "Windows XP Professional.vmx.

      • It's my hard drive MAIN of my laptop, where all the virtual computer files are stored.

    scsi0. Present = 'TRUE '.
    memsize = "1024".
    scsi0:0. Present = 'TRUE '.
    scsi0:0. FileName = "Windows XP Professional.vmdk.

    • It's the '2 (peripheral) SCSI hard drive.

    scsi0:1.filename = "Windows XP Professional - 1.vmdk"
    scsi0:1.DeviceType = "rawDisk.
    scsi0:1.redo = «»

Is it possible to add an option like StartConnected = "FALSE" or something like that for a 'hard disk SCSI device"...?

    Any thoughts would be great!

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

How did the external HARD drive connected to the host USB?  If so why not just connect to the Virtual Machine as a USB device?  He attached as a Raw vs USB drive has a much greater risk of corrupting the devices file system if the host or Virtual Machine freezes and must be restarted.  Obviously if it is another USB then, for example, FireWire or whatever, you also have the option to use shared folders in VMware or both industry Standard SMB/CIFS share to access the contents of the disc.

  • Computer does not recognize Toshiba external 500G HDD - HARD drive

Sorry, I use a translator, because all the illiterate

A year and a half used the hard drive, and now the computer does not recognize it, the TV too.
In Device Manager, it is there, but says "initialization error".

    What should do?
    Thanks for the replies

You have partitions software installed on the laptop you?
I guess that the HARD disk does not appear in windows Explorer, but common partition as the partition Wizard tool might be able to recognize the HARD drive.
You can try to format the HARD disk and to create the new NTFS partition.

    Another solution:
Usually, you can initialize the disk by DiskManagement.

In disk management, right-click the disk you want to initialize and then click on initialize disk.
In the dialog box initialize the disk, select the disk to initialize.
You can choose to use the master boot record (MBR) or the style of partition GUID partition table (GPT).

Once a disk is initialized, you can create partitions on it.
After you create a partition, you can format the partition to create a filesystem (NTFS).

  • External 1 TB HARD drive not recognized PS3

    Hello

I brought a 1 to external yesterday, had home loaded up, went to the to connect to the PS3 via USB and my PS3 does not recognize. I called the computer store, that they said that I had to format, so I followed the instructions to change the settings for EXFAT and it still does not work.

Someone in English can help me please?

    Hi djsi,

Unfortunately I think that it s hard to say something, because here he s a forum user to user Toshiba and you should request this in a forum of PS3 for example.

No one knows what PS3 and the firmware you have and what type of HARD drive you have.

So just ask an expert PS3 or PS3 Forum. There, you should get an appropriate response. ;)
