different network names

I have an ADSL modem connected to a wireless router, which has also four LAN ports. A Windows 7 desktop computer is connected to one of the LAN ports, two Windows 7 laptops are usually connected wireless to the router. Laptops see (Bakkers wireless) secure wireless network and connect to it without problem, but for the office, there seems to be only one "network 2" available to connect to, although laptops can access the desktop and print through its local printer. "" Does anyone know how I should set up a network that are accessible wireless as well as via the LAN ports?

Thank you

Rouke

Hello

If all the computers can connect to the Internet through the same router, then they are on the same network and sharing files and prints I hope sharing is configured on each one.

For the best results of each computer screen system log and define all the computers to be on a working group with the same name , while each computer has its ownunique name .

http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_name.jpg

--------------------------------

Maybe this can help.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Homegroup = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Network of home or work = fundamentally similar (and better) to the previous methods of theWorking Group sharing which allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

For the best newspaper of the results of each computer screen system and together all computers on a network of the same name, while each computer has its own unique name.

http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_name.jpg

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled).
If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic.

If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

------------------------------

If your network consists only of Win 7 and you want a simple network, use it.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/help/videos/sharing-files-with-HomeGroup

After you have configured the homegroup, scroll to the bottom for the Permission/security section.

-----------------------------

Network Win 7 with another version of Windows as a work network (works very well if all computers are Win 7 also).

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

-------------

If you have permission and security issues with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/permission-security.jpg

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

* Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

** Note . All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account onall computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users. It is available to avoid the need to configure permission for each on its own, it does not mean all those who feel that they would like to connect.

If more control is needed to take a look at this page http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Share-files-and-folders-over-the-network-from-Windows-Vista-Inside-Out

  • In ESX VMs can choose different network/name of the label (VLAN)

    Hi guys,.

My test vCenter crashed and I can't get it back as there is no backup. I can only connect directly to the ESXi servers and use virtual machines from there. Now, I am facing a problem while deploying a new virtual machine and by changing its network. I have a vDistributed configured switch that has 2 groups of ports 10 VLANS and VLAN 30. When I create a new virtual machine, it only let me choose VLAN 30 and will not let me choose VLAN 10 while there are a few old VMs that are still configured for VLAN 10 and I can change their card NETWORK VLAN 30. Should what changes I make to configure the VLAN 10 on my new virtual machines?

I have 2 ESXi servers and this is the case even on the ESXi servers.

    Please find the attachment.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

The type of binding of default ports is a static binding, which means that you can connect to a virtual machine for a link static port group only through vCenter Server.

I guess, the port VLAN 10 group is created with a static linking.

VMware KB: Choose a type of port binding in ESX/ESXi

If you do not group ports with ephemeral connection, you cannot connect a new VM for VDS if your vCenter is out of service.

With connection of ephemeral ports, you can assign a virtual machine to a group of ports on ESX/ESXi and vCenter, which gives you the flexibility to manage the connections to VM through the host when vCenter is out of service.

In this case, you will need to temporarily create a new vSwitch directly on a host with VLAN 10 to connect the new virtual machine.

  • How to remove or delete profiles redundant network (names) of my office and laptops running Windows 7?

With Verizon DSL modem in bridge and as a router Linksys WRT 160N, my desktop and laptop computers have been in a network.  Laptop computer and printer via wireless and desktop wired.  The name of the network used to be the same for all connected devices.  However, when my Linksys gave the soul about a week ago, I reconnected it via the Verizon Actiontec WRT704G modem/router combination and since I could not print from the laptop, and it takes about 5 minutes to print 2 pages of my office.  The network name on my desktop by default automatically to the network 4, and on the laptop, there '2' after the former name of network.  With different network names, I couldn't set up my home group.  But I have access to the internet on both computers.  The network name (SSID) on the site config the router and the printer is the same: the former name of the network without the '2'.

I need help or advice on how to clear or remove these other network names and have just 1 network name for all connected devices.  I know that in Vista, you can merge or remove network profiles but can't seem to find a way to do this under Windows 7.  Also, my laptop is Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit and the Office on Home Premiun 64 bit.

  • "The specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password", trying to connect to a remote drive.

Original title: the specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password.__To to connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network share.

I am trying to connect to a remote drive. I clicked to map the drive, entered the name of the drive, came the name of login/password for the computer turns on and then it give me this error message: the specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password. To connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network share.

In Windows 7 Enterprise, I would like to point out that, if you map \\server1\share1 as drive letter X using "user1" and "password1", then try to map \\server1\share2 (a different share) as drive letter Y using the same ID "User1" and "password1" and you select 'connect using different credentials' in the dialog box connect a network drive and specify the id "User1" and "password1". you will get this error MESSAGE INCORRECT that says 'the specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password'.

    The message is bad because:

    1. the specified network (action2 in my example) folder is not mapped at all, and

    2. the server (in my example, "server1") is already mapped (to a different and different drive letter share) using the SAME user name and password.

The error message is wrong in two respects.

This let me puzzled for a while until I realized that once you have mapped to 'Server1' using the credentials, you can map to different actions on the same server without re - specify the credentials.  It is NOT CLEARLY the 'Map network drives' dialog box, which leads to users (like me, and I'm a programmer by trade) trying to enter credentials again and this incorrect error message.

I got this message when trying to access a laptop on my home network. It's a laptop which came for years. The only change that occurred was the removal of a few videos to Windows Media Player. In fact, I was sitting near the laptop (laptop 1) that stores the video & audio files that I share on my network for years and an additional (cell 2) laptop computer on my network. I was simply remove a playlist via WMP and I witnessed portable 2 lose access to files I had shared for years with my home network. I don't even use WMP, I had just open trying to access the laptop 1 video/audio files to my PS3 system. I was clear an old list of video of WMP so I could add the extra avi files to the list that I had collected over the years. I wanted to not double many videos so I removed the videos in WMP list. Since then, I'm not able to share anything of my laptop 1 to the rest of my network. I did not like WMP before, now I really despise WMP. When I try to share a folder, right click, share with & click on homegroup (read/write), the option is not selected. Any solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

  • Network names

I have a router Linksys E2500.  Is it possible to have a network name for the secure network and a different network to the network of comments name?  The idea is to not have the SSID of the network broadcast while allowing the SSID of the network to be broadcast.  With the convention of adding just "invited" by the end of the SSID of the network, it beats the security option do not have secure network broadcast SSID.

Unfortunately, many have asked again this feature was never implemented.

The time Capsule cannot 'join' a wireless provided third-party router, if that's what you're asking.

  • TCP works on different networks

    Hello

I have a problem with the TCP/IP communication.

I write a program of communication TCP/IP (client-server) and it works fine when I tested it at the office (same network). But when I tested the program when server and client VI are connected to different network I have no communication.

TCP/IP works when client.VI and server.VI are connected to different networks? If this isn't the case, someone suggested what protocol to use? Problem is this server VI must be in format exe but customer VI must be opened for editing.

    Thank you

I think we need to clear up some things before going into the details "debug".

First, when we talk about 'networks', I expect to see 'LAN' (local area network). A LAN often uses a dedicated identification "subnet", which is a combination of the IP address and the subnet mask. The subnet mask defines which part of the IP address refers to the identification of LAN, the "rest" of the intellectual property refers to the specific PC.

An IP address (4) consists of four bytes, a given subnet mask instruction on how many bits and bytes are the ID 'LAN '. Subnet masks are often 255.255.255.0.

When you say "work in the office (same network)", you want to: same subnet. Fix?

(All IP addresses share the same values in the bytes of the subnet mask, but differ in the rest. Example: PC has 192.168.1.12, subnet 255.255.255.0. PC B 192.168.1.15, subnet 255.255.255.0).

If the PC are NOT in the same subnet, it depends on the configuration of the network on how to proceed. If there is a "direct connection path" from A to B, just simply the target IP address (for example a 192.168.1.15, subnet 255.255.255.0, B 11.88.2.126, works of subnet 255.255.255.0 if 192.168.1 subnet has a direct connection to the 11.88.2 subnet).

If there is NO direct link, you need to "port forwarding" on the hardware (router) inbetween. This can become quite difficult.

So according to the purpose of this request, you may be better redefine architecture approach to loading dynamic components in your application.

  • Connect to different networks (with or without proxy)

    Hi all.

I'm working on a project where I need to be connected at least two different networks. One of them is used to communicate with the wireless IP cameras (using ActiveX Axis Media Control), and the other is necessary to access the internet and load the Google maps (using an ActiveX from Microsoft Web Browser control). I'm at University and the internet connection is through a proxy server.

I don't know much about networks and HTTP requests, but I notice that if I set up Internet Explorer to work through the proxy, I am able to navigate in GoogleMaps, but there is no way to access the IP cameras. And if I set Internet Explorer to work without a proxy, I get exactly the opposite.

    Could you help me?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards
    Francisco

    Hi Porras,

Try to create an exception for your proxy server - see attached pictures (Win XP SP3).

Note: These proxy exceptions can be created programmatically, by editing the Windows registry.

    See you soon.
