Disable IPv6

January 23, 2016

Apple discussions:

I had problems with my internet connection.   A man from the cable company has examined yesterday and then called me this morning.

IPv6 for this cable company - Internet version 6 protocol is not compatible with Apple Airport Extreme and I guess that the Airport Express Terminal.

How can I go to the Airport and DISABLE IPv6 utility?

My configuration is: year Airport Extreme connects to a cable modem and the wireless router to an airport express which offers wifi to tivo boxes and a blue-ray player.

How can I disable IPv6 and will the previous protocol IPv4 are substituted.

Thanks for any help.  I can't find how to do this on the airport utility software.

You may have installed one or more variants of the malware "VSearch' ad-injection. Please back up all data, and then take the steps below to disable it.

Do not use any type of product, "anti-virus" or "anti-malware" on a Mac. It is never necessary for her, and relying on it for protection makes you more vulnerable to attacks, not less.

Malware is constantly evolving to work around defenses against it. This procedure works now, I know. It will not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a couple of days or more after it was published should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.

    Step 1

VSearch malware tries to hide by varying names of the files it installs. It regenerates itself also if you try to remove it when it is run. To remove it, you must first start in safe mode temporarily disable the malware.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for other instructions.

    Step 2

When running in safe mode, load the web page and then triple - click on the line below to select. Copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination:

    /Library/LaunchDaemons

    In the Finder, select

Go ▹ go to the folder...

from the menu bar and paste it into the box that opens by pressing command + V. You won't see what you pasted a newline being included. Press return.

A folder named "LaunchDaemons" can open. If this is the case, press the combination of keys command-2 to select the display of the list, if it is not already selected.

There should be a column in the update Finder window. Click this title two times to sort the content by date with the most recent at the top. Please don't skip this step. Files that belong to an instance of VSearch will have the same date of change for a few minutes, then they will be grouped together when you sort the folder this way, which makes them easy to identify.

    Step 3

In the LaunchDaemons folder, there may be one or more files with the name of this form:

    com Apple.something.plist

When something is a random string, without the letters, different in each case.

Note that the name consists of four words separated by dots. Typical examples are:

    com Apple.builins.plist

    com Apple.cereng.plist

    com Apple.nysgar.plist

There may be one or more items with a name of the form:

    com.something.plist

Yet once something is a random string, without meaning - not necessarily the same as that which appears in one of the other file names.

These names consist of three words separated by dots. Typical examples are:

    com.semifasciaUpd.plist

    com.ubuiling.plist

Sometimes there are items (usually not more than one) with the name of this form:

    com.something .net - preferences.plist

This name consists of four words (the third hyphen) separated by periods. Typical example:

    com.jangly .net - preferences.plist

Drag all items in the basket. You may be prompted for administrator login password.

Restart the computer and empty the trash.

Examples of legitimate files located in the same folder:

    com.apple.FinalCutServer.fcsvr_ldsd.plist

    com Apple.Installer.osmessagetracing.plist

    com Apple.Qmaster.qmasterd.plist

    com Apple.aelwriter.plist

    com Apple.SERVERD.plist

    com Tether.plist

The first three are clearly not VSearch files because the names do not match the above models. The last three are not easy to distinguish by the name alone, but the modification date will be earlier than the date at which VSearch has been installed, perhaps several years. None of these files will be present in most installations of Mac OS X.

Do not delete the folder 'LaunchDaemons' or anything else inside, unless you know you have another type of unwanted software and more VSearch. The file is a normal part of Mac OS X. The "demon" refers to a program that starts automatically. This is not inherently bad, but the mechanism is sometimes exploited by hackers for malicious software.

If you are not sure whether a file is part of the malware, order the contents of the folder by date modified I wrote in step 2, no name. Malicious files will be grouped together. There could be more than one such group, if you attacked more than once. A file dated far in the past is not part of the malware. A folder in date dated Middle an obviously malicious cluster is almost certainly too malicious.

If the files come back after you remove the, they are replaced by others with similar names, then either you didn't start in safe mode or you do not have all the. Return to step 1 and try again.

    Step 4

Reset the home page in each of your browsers, if it has been modified. In Safari, first load the desired home page, then select

    ▹ Safari preferences... ▹ General

    and click on

    Set on the current Page

If you use Firefox or Chrome web browser, remove the extensions or add-ons that you don't know that you need. When in doubt, remove all of them.

The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you reinstall it never. A few small files will be left behind, but they have no effect, and trying to find all them is more trouble that it's worth.

    Step 5

The malware lets the web proxy discovery in the network settings. If you know that the setting was already enabled for a reason, skip this step. Otherwise, you should undo the change.

Open the network pane in system preferences. If there is a padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window, click it and authenticate to unlock the settings. Click the Advanced button, and then select Proxies in the sheet that drops down. Uncheck that Auto Discovery Proxy if it is checked. Click OK, and then apply.

    Step 6

This step is optional. Open the users and groups in the system preferences and click on the lock icon to unlock the settings. In the list of users, there may be some with random names that have been added by the malware. You can remove these users. If you are not sure whether a user is legitimate, do not delete it.

  • How can I disable ipv6 on the newer airport utility for windows?

I downloaded the latest airport utility for Windows and I can't find any option to disable ipv6. Can someone tell me how to do this.

You cannot disable IPv6, but you can disable the IPv6 Internet from the Internet connection.

Open the AirPort for Windows utility

Click on the router from the most convenient airport to select

    Click on the installation manual

Click on the Advanced Options (gear icon) button to the top of the AirPort Utility window

Click on the IPv6 tab, which appears just below Advanced

Make sure that the IPv6 Mode is set to Link-Local only

Click Update at the bottom right of the window and allow a minute for the airport to restart

I tried turning point/disable ipV6, run as administrator, disable firewall... etc I tried everything. He used to work on Window Vista and a few old iTunes. I've updated to iTune and move to Uverse. It has stopped working. I thought the problem was iTunes so I've updated to the latest version of iTunes in Vista, then update to Vista and then install Windows 7 and then last iTune on Windows 7... I now have everything that the most recent and it still does not work. I have not the firmware on my router can be updated, but I think it's fairly new

There may be a setting on your router you can disable IPv6.  Try this and also disable IPv6 on your NIC again.

  • How to disable ipv6 on last Time Capsule?

I have Cox internet and they tell me that I have to disable IPv6 on my Time Capsule for my internet service to resume properly.  Anyone done this before?  The only options seem to be disable sharing of ipv6, but I need to disable ipv6 on the networking of the device as it connects to my cable modem...

    Anyone done this before?

Not on a Cox connection, but this should work until Cox fully implements IPv6.  The number of positions that we have seen... they have yet to do.

    On your Mac...

Open Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility

Click on the image of the time Capsule

Click on edit in the window that appears

Click on the network at the top of the next window tab

Click the Network Options button near the bottom of the window

Make sure that the IPv6 configuration is set to Local link only

    Click Save

Click Update at the bottom right and give the time Capsule a minute full to restart

At this point, it would be wise to turn off the modem and the Time Capsule.

    Wait a minute

The modem only... lights and let it run a few minutes

Turn on the time Capsule and let it run for a minute

    Check the network

    Hello gurus,

    Consider the following scenario:

1 oracle EPM 11.1.2.3 is installed and configured when IPv6 is enabled on the server.

which I suppose is because IPv6 is enabled on the server.

When I check the status of the server in the Console of Administration Oracle Weblogic, I see the status as Shutdown, however the service is running and I am able to work on it.

    No doubt:

Can I disable IPv6 on the servers, as it disrupts the current configuration?

Will there be an extra need to configure the EPM system after you disable IPv6?

If you want to disable IPv6 then you can but make sure you fall Hyperion, completely remove the IPv6, then restart.

In the log you posted it looks like he's trying to bind to an adapter of tunnel or a 6to4 adapter, if you run an ipconfig/all command you should see what it is bound.

If you want to understand the combinations taken ipv4/ipv4 support take a look at the "IPv6 Certification" tab in the support matrix - matrix of supported - platforms Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System

If the result is that the host gets the prefix through the automatic configuration of router RA messages again.

I have looked for new commands on the router cli haved prevent this, but I found no others. The more I got is to configure the controls (especially the first):

    prefix default IPv6 nd non-publicite

    IPv6 nd managed config flag

so now, the router does not send the prefix on RA messages, but he continues to meet with his message of RA RS introductory Messages. And I don't want that, because even if she does not send the prefix with the 'default prefix nd non-publicite' command, it sends the MTU and the default gateway for the router

and I don't want that because more later I want to deploy a Windows Server in the same local network to make this function (Dhcp Server, DNS server...)

This is what is happening (the router resends RA)

So I would like to know if I made a mistake or some missconfiguration with this?

Maybe I don't have the correct Sam on the operation should Slacc Autoconfiguration (is not just that with remove comand configured the router should not send any message of RA?), or maybe it's a problem with this version of IOS. I'm crazy with this.

This router has 24 Mb Flash, so if it's a problem with the version of IOS, I don't know that you put on that because I think that the 15.X versions exceed 24 MB

Thank you for reading this great post and help

    Kind regards

    Pablo JC

    Hi Pablo.

The RA messages can be turned off completely using the following command: ipv6 nd ra delete all.

The keyword 'all' deletes RA periodic and unsolicited messages.

    It was introduced in 15.1 (3) T3.

  • What will be the impact if disable us IPv6?

    Hello

We have a lot of problems with IPV6. (Including Cisco Anyconnect VPN doesn't work does not correctly, DNS works does not properly etc.) When we disable IPv6 in the notebooks of users, these problems go away.

But what would be the impact if we disable IPv6 in the whole of the environment? But we use IPv4 and IPv6 at all we never used. IPv6 is simply not used in the environment at all. Please suggest

    Hi Nanda,

You should expect any impact, since you do not use IPv6 services.

  • Suddenly our router keeps losing the internet.   The representative of the Cox says that IPV6 on the router is not compatible with the Cisco modem.   I'm turning it off?   Who is?   All started 3 days ago.   Have to reboot AirPort Extreme

Suddenly Tuesday, our wifi stopped working.   Cox can not see anything on their end.   So far, we had to restart 5 times.   I finally realized that it is not the modem (Cisco), but our AirPort Extreme.   That's all that needs to be restarted.   I talked to a technician that I got to know, and she said that this week this problem started occurring with customers who have extremes of the airport.   Something about the airport in IPV6 and this is not compatible.   Before systems were PVI until the numbers came out (?)   In any case, she said Cox could not fix this, that I needed to talk to Apple to see if I could disable IPV6, at least for now.   I think I see how to do this, but does it make sense to anyone?   We have a new modem, installed in January, Cisco DPQ3212, good speeds, no issues whatsoever until this week.   There are also 2 other friends here (Scottsdale, Cox) with extremes of the airport.   Any suggestions?

Cox has made a number of recent changes to their service, and they are trying to integrate IPv6 technology into their signals. They have not fully implemented the changes that must be made, and not commit to a date where things will be fully installed.

Everything was fine until Cox implements these recent changes, and now Cox is blaming the problem on Apple. Apple has a different answer, as you can imagine. It is typical among manufacturers... blame the other guy.

Apple routers are picking up some of the information they need to work with IPv6 and Cox, but since Cox has not completed the process, you'll probably best results trying to not use IPv6 with the airport router at all until you receive word of Cox that their systems are ready.

The bottom line to this problem can be resolved by asking "What has changed".  The answer is Cox has changed.

Configure your router to the airport most convenient to use IPv6 local link parameters only for now, to see if this will help.  You will not be able to realize all the benefits of IPv6 at the moment, but I hope that things will improve.

  • Airport Extreme and Cox Internet IPv6 problem

This is one notification to others as well as a question:

I have Cox Cable high speed Internet in several places using an Airport Extreme 3 GB connected as a router to the modem cable Cox.

For more than a week, we would find regularly in the morning that the outside connection to internet DNS servers were lost.  We called Cox several times and they have done the usual reset of the router and the modem and things seem to work for some time.  But the next day again.

They came out and replaced the connections, I I had to buy a new cable modem and I replaced a digital switch.  Every time things seem to work for some time.

I thought to replace the Airport Extreme (I read others did in a similar situation without result).

After much frustration, I started looking for Airport Extreme and DNS and found similar stories.

After that several unproductive calls with Cox Internet of first level support, I finally reached a level which acknowledged that Cox was the IPv6 deployment and he was having a problem with Airport Extreme routers.  They said Apple was working on it and gave me a number to call for support from router from apple.  Unfortunately the number they gave was no longer valid.

I persisted and finally got the Apple support and indeed they knew the problem and said Cox was working on that... But there was a temporary problem - and that was to disable iPv6 on the airport extreme (more precisely (internet > Internet Options > configure Ipv6: link-Local only).)

For now it seems to have stopped the decline during the night which seems to happen between 12:00 and 02:00.  By experience, I do not think that its really a problem of compaibility IPV6, but how the router meets some kind of rebate to zero/test signal signal service is done in early morning.

So the question is - does anyone know with certainty what happens or who really works on this.  From my point of view, both sides think it's the other problem.  BTW - I've read about other people with Non Apple routers running after something similar.

    GABarber,

I also had a similar problem.  Prior service of Cox Communications in Phoenix AZ has been rescinded and recently restored (March 1) yesterday afternoon.  After the departure of the technician, the wi - fi failed to produce a valid connection, citing DNS error and no response from the server.  We have a new modem, CISCO, at an Air Port/Time Capsule 2 TB ethernet cable.

After talking with support for level 2 level 1 and then Cox, there was sufficient evidence for a correct signal via the modem, but the Port of the Air was not picking up or he issued (by Cox).  Check my Air Port Utility apps on iMac and iPhone shows a signal Internet or Air Port casual, but never the two together.  The modem and the Air Port so would show appropriate green led lights up, but in vain to work wi - fi.

The only thing that has worked so far is your solution listed above: Air Port utility > Internet > Internet Options > configure Ipv6: link-Local only.

    Thank you, GABarber.

  • IPv6 relay error

I have a router Extreme Apple with Version 7.6.4

I just got internet access high speed of Brighthouse using the router/modem Arris.  The Arris router turned into bridge mode.

BrightHouse says that they only IPv4.  Can I disable IPv6 on my Airport Extreme?

Or another option to correct the error?

Using AirPort Utility, in the Internet tab, it is set to DHCP.  If I go under 'internet options' and then configure IPv6: automatically; and the IPv6 Mode: Tunnel.

My devices can connect wirelessly and get fast connections.  The only question really is the orange light is flashing on my Apple Extreme.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    John

BrightHouse says that they only IPv4.  Can I disable IPv6 on my Airport Extreme?

    Try the following

    Open AirPort Utility

Select the AirPort Extreme, and then click on change

    Click on the Internet tab

    Click the Internet Options tab

IPv6 configuration for Local link only set

    Save the changes

    AirPort Extreme update

  • Is the HP OfficeJet 7410 all-in-one ethernet ability limited to IPv4, or does it include IPv6?

A new replacement of the router has been installed and I suspect that fast OEM install by default to IPv6, so I may need to break the detailed installation tips to see how to some device limited IPv4 parameter for this ancient printer.  TIA!

I'm sure that its IPv4 only.  You can just disable IPv6 on your router, you really don't need it for your local network.

  • Re: Disable sleep mode

Hi I have the same problem.

My printer always goes to sleep and not wake up when printing.

Touch the power button then triggers a stop after which I have to restart the printer.

Accordingly, I am close and turn on my printer every 20 minutes!

My printer is a HP Officejet Pro 6830 and configured as a printer network via an ethernet cable.

The printer belongs to an Active Directory domain with a fixed IP address.

So, it seems that this configuration matches your previous answer to which the initiator of this discussion seems to not have answered.

Hope you can provide a solution

    Hi @SGA33,

Thank you for agreeing to Support HP Forums!

I noticed that you are having problems sleeping with your HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-all-in-one printer. I'd be happy to help you and don't forget to come back to this thread and check "Accept as Solution", if I have successfully helped solve you the problem. If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.

I see that you are connected to the network via a wired connection. There is a problem with the settings or firmware. Follow the steps below to see if we can determine the cause.

Disable IPV6 in front panel of the printer menu:

    1. Configuration menu
    2. Network configuration
