Do another counter for usb-6008 VI using Labview 8.5

I want to create another counter for usb-6008 using Labview 8.5, it is necessary to calculate the two gears simultaneously.

The best way to proceed is to use the meter.  The counter counts
signals without having to interrupt the system or use the USB bus.
When you ask the number of ticks that saw the meter, one
request is thrown from the CPU to the USB line to the 6008, which then
request counter "ticks how have you seen?  This number is
returned on the USB bus, goes to the CPU and display on your
screen.  Given that the DIO lines on the 6008 are software timed, it is
no way to guarantee that the data back to the central unit is
deterministic.  The conceptual difference between software-controlled
DIO (that nondeterministically returns an entire stream) and a
meter software-tick-application-controlled (which returns a unique number
with the number of ticks) prevents us from using the DIO lines on the
6008. the best way to count more edges is buying more 6008 s.
Another possibility would be to buy a PCI card to counter such as
the PCI-6602, who owns 8 counters. Most of the counters we offer in the
USB form factor is 2 per device.

Please see and help me to do this exercise. I just borrowed 6008 USB so I don't have any experience with USB 6008. Thank you! It's funny.

Looking at the PFI0 manual (pin 29) is correct and I don't see anything wrong with the code and example should work. I have a M-series card, not a 6008 and it works for me. This error code is meaningless if. Are you sure it's the number?

  • Is there a VI for USB-6008 who works in LV7.0

I've been using Labview 7.0 and just bought a USB-6008.  It seems not to work properly with Signal Express, but the Signal Express 2.5 create LabView 7.0 code.  I have been using a USB DAQ of MCC and it works well with their library of VI.  Is there a VI of the USB-6008 that will run under 7.0?  Or what is the best way to make it work with 7.0.

    Thank you
    Benchtester

For 7.0, the latest version of DAQmx you can use is 8.1. Since you just bought the 6008, you probably have a much more recent version installed. Uninstall the current driver, download 8.1 and install it. You should then have a measure IO > DAQmx palette. On their will be DAQmx and the DAQ Assistant functions. You must also have many examples to look at.

  • 6008 OR using Labview 8.6 variable output voltage

    Hey guys,.

So my goal is to create an output voltage of my USB 6008 OR which can be set from 1 - 5V in Labview. (This output goes to a mass flow controller that varies its pressure based on an entry 1 - 5V) I'm using Labview 8.6 and far I used the DAQ to create analog output of fishing, but I can't figure out how to get a right voltage DC output. Is this possible? Also to measure the output so I connect the cable on the + and - or the + and gnd? Please help me!

  • Fact the TV standard (NTSC / PAL) count for USB for TV video playback?

    Hi all

I will register soon some 1080 p videos and I will deliver the finished video edited on USB to a family to read on their TV. (in the United Kingdom)

My question is; So what if I record the video NTSC or PAL? They will be be plug the USB directly on their televisions to watch the video.

I know that I would need to record in PAL if I was burning to DVD to play on a British DVD player / TVs, but no matter if it is played from a USB?

I plan on using NTSC, 1080 p, 30 frames per second.

    Thanks in advance!

    Paul

I had no problem reading video PAL from my media server, so my inclination is to say that it won't matter to you either.

That said, you won't know until what test you.  Download a short excerpt NTSC to a site for them to download file sharing.  Do this before that learn you what either.

  • I can measure analog USB supply voltage using Labview?

I'm basically feeding a (nominal) 5V USB power sensor, but the output of full scale depends on the real for a particular measure input voltage - what I want to do is to get labview to measure the voltage at the USB port at the same time it samples the voltage of the output sensor and then that of full scale output for that instant in time can be calculated and thus give a measure more accurate. Is this possible in labview? Thank you very much.

    Haydn Barker

Makes a lot of sense, actually - probably would see a few mV dropped from the point of measurement of the sensor point... then you work with equations/remedies just to work with an inaccurate level anyway. Okay well I'll write that off as a bad idea then and just stick to the system, because it isn't now - I don't know that it will be enough. Thank you for your answers and help.

  • DI USB 6008 issue in Labview

    Hi all

I did some simple laboratories with my new DAQ6008.

I am following the video tutorial "entry analog with digital alarm" on the following virtual demos tab

    http://sine.NI.com/NIPs/CDs/view/p/lang/en/NID/14681

The problem is when I run the VI, which is the same as on the video, I get an error message, I have pasted below:

Error-200524 occurred in the DAQmx write (Digital 1-d 1Line Bool NChan 1Samp) .vi:2

    Possible reasons:

Scripture cannot be performed because the number of data channels does not match number of channels in the task.

When writing, provide data for all channels in the task. You can also change the task so that it contains the same number of channels as the written data.

Number of channels of task: 1
    Number of data channels: 10

    Task name: _unnamedTask<268>

The only difference between what I do and the vid tutorial is that I have a USB6008 and the 6009 is used.

Any ideas what the problem may be?

    Hi Marko,

The problem you encounter, it's that your DAQ assistant is set up at the exit of a digital line.  For this he needs a single Boolean value, true or false.

The error occurs because you are providing 10 numeric values and it cannot convert the value 10 in 1.

If you post your VI I can better advise you where the error appears.

  • Loss of communications with USB-6008

I have a USB-6008 be used to control a couple of valves with its digital output channels. The digital output channels are a relay that energizes the solenoid valves (valves are 115VAC) switching. The USB device is connected to a USB port on laptop.

The software/hardware was working fine, then some time while it was connected there was a power surge. There was a 2 a fuse on the 115 VAC line that blew.

After this communication surge was no longer able to be implemented with the box USB-6008. Is it possible for a power surge affecting the USB device, even if his power comes from the power supply of 5V USB?

    Things I checked so far.

Restart the computer with the USB unplugged and start back up - no connection

Check the Device Manager for the USB device to be present - not visible in the Device Manager

Check MAX for device - does not present as gift

Check the wiring to the son of course drop - no defeated cables

try on different laptops - connection

Connect other USB devices to the laptop USB - another fine feature of devices USB slot

Check the + 5V channel on the USB device and do not read a voltage

Any indication seems to be that, somehow, the USB device has been damaged during this surge? Is there some kind of diagnosis offline, I do without seeing the unit online?

    Hello the plough,

It looks like the surge caused a sort of feedback of the valve of your USB device. This USB device is not designed for industrial applications and can easily be damaged in the situation you described. For a USB device with a greater ability to withstand this type of power surge, you should watch the box USB-6525. A better solution would be a CompactDAQ or CompactRIO system with a NI 9401, which is designed to withstand 1 000 Vrms, verified by a 5 s dielectric withstand test.

  • OR USB-6211 is used to count climbing on board TTL

    Hello

I'm new to NOR-DAQ cards, and so before buying whatever it is would like to know if it is possible to use a device, NI USB-6211

County and bin amounting to edges of a TTL signal.

What I want to do is to count how many rising edges of a TTL signal I get in a period of 1 ms; a 20 Mhz sampling frequency should be fine.

I would like to use Matlab to control and read the number of edges that are counted as well as in the meantime write and read digital IO ports from the USB-6211.

Is it maybe possible to leave the external TTL signal trigger a 6211 counters, an output then periodically (1 ms) and reset the value of the counter?

Is it possible and if yes, is it a good idea?

    Thanks and regards,

    Manual

    Manual Hi

In order to generate this signal, I could use a second timer mode continuous pulse Train generation, right?

-> Right. You can choose between 2 options

    (1) get the signal to another device, for example signal generator or something like that. If you cannot use such a device, you must select the second solution->

    (2) generate the 1ms period square wave with the meter of the USB-6211 seconds

I don't know a smart way to generate the 1ms period signal without the software side. You need the software to configure the second counter, route the signal to the second counter for the first counter and so on.

Maybe you can use what is called "panel test" inside the Explorer Measurment & Automation to generate signal. The Measurment & Automation Explorer is a tool provided with the driver for the DAQ cards. The original purpose of this software utility is to configure your hardware, test and so on.

I don't know if it works, but I imagine that the following solution:

You use the test panel called inside the Measurment & Automation Explorer to generate the 1ms period signal (see attached screenshot and http://www.ni.com/white-paper/4638/en). You have no additional program to run the test Panel. Box USB-6211, you use a wire to connect the signal output of the meter of second at the entrance to the first counter. After that, you run Control Panel to test the generation of signals for the seconds counter. At the same time, you start your Matlab program and configure only the first counter. You will need to run the Testpanel all the time if you want to run your measurment.

Not very nice, but maybe the only solution.

  • Time real ADC/DAC for SMPS by using Labview and USB

    Hi all

I asked the Sales Department of this same question, so here's a two-pronged approach:

I am reserching a control algorithm for power switching, and so far, its performance simulations seem to be good.  Now, the goal is to implement the circuit from the experimental data.

I've seen several NI USB DAQ boxes that seem to have the performance, I'm looking for (for example, the box USB-6211 a sampling rate and resolution I need).

The control algorithm uses the following mathematical functions: add/sub/mult/div/exhibitor and derivative/integral.

My question is this: is "strong enough" Labview take four-channel data 250Ksps, crunches the numbers in an equation and spits out the answer to an analogue on the channel, while time REAL?  I'm looking for a rate of analog output of ~ 100 kHz.

Thank you for any suggestions you have!

    -Rick

    Hey,.

So if you were trying just to perform an input or output, then the box USB-6211 would certainly be able to treat it as the machine clock could manage the inputs/outputs, no software. However, what you are wanting to do, basically a feedback system, he will have to avoid (at least to a USB device) because you need to be able to specify Active which is the output. So, for this reason alone and the fact that you want out of 100 kHz, this device and the USB devices in general will be not an option any what software you use, LabVIEW or otherwise. On another note, you want to make sounds more like live update, not in real time, which is more on the jitter. Bottom line, for these kinds of requirements, you might need to move to an FPGA card, something like the NI PCIe-7841R would work. It's more expensive, but for your needs, FPGA will be the only option and it comes down to the latency of the bus, but also the response time of software. With FPGA, as shown in the first scheme of the following document, you basically close your software through hardware loop.

  • DAQ USB-6008 will be able to power and record voltage for UMS T5 blood pressure at the same time?

I would use my NI USB-6008 to power my blood pressure monitor UMS T5 (http://www.ums-muc.de/en/products/tensiometer/t5.html) but also to take readings of it, but I don't know if it's possible to do it properly. The power supply for the instrument can be as low as 5V, I can easily get the dedicated + 5V channel. I'm able to feed the instrument and connect it to an analog input on the 6008 and measure a voltage in differential mode. However, when you read the documentation of support for the instrument, I find the following:

"Potential pitfalls of data acquisition: the pressure transducer is configured in a full Wheatstone bridge, the input voltage and mV signal output can be connected to the same reference (mass)." Therefore, the mV output signal can be measured using a differential voltage measurement. Therefore, do not make an asymmetric measure of pressure transducer mV output. "(http://www.decagon.com/assets/Uploads/MeasuringUMSTensiometerswithnon-UMSControlandDataAcquisitionSystems.pdf)

My understanding is that the 6008 can take a differential measure if I attach the signal '+' and the signal "-" to the analog inputs of positive and negative terminals. However, it seems that all the ports of ground on the 6008 are grounded to the same reference, which would make my measure of invalid tension according to the above paragraph. So my real question is: if I try to record the voltage with one of the analog inputs on the 6008 in this way, is the valid measurement? Or I need to find a separate power supply, with a different reference field to ensure that the measure is accurate?

The technical details of this device is very poor. The manual is not much better. Companies that want to sell scientific equipment should publish decent cards or get out of business.

In section 3.4.3 General requirements the device is described as a "bridge not amplified circuit.  This information along with the impedance of the bridge should be in the specifications, because it is essential to apply the device under any circumstances other than the nominal behavior in 10.6 V.

The answer to your question is:

You can use it with the box USB-6008.  The 5 V supply will result in output voltages a little less than half (5/10.6) the voltage specified in nominal conditions. You can use the differential input mode on the box USB-6008.  The absolute input voltages will be approximately 2.5 V with the 5 V power supply. This voltage is in the range of the aircraft. The differences are likely to be less than 100 mV. The resolution of the USB-6008 on the + /-1 V is located about 0.5 mV so your resolution of pressure will be about 1% of full scale. The voltage input impedance and termination of the USB-6008 will present a few errors.  These can be in the order of 5 to 10%. I can't predict much better without the missing bridge impedance specification.  These errors should be relatively constant and systematic. A calibration of the whole system - sensor and together hardware DAQ should allow you to compensate for a large part of this error.

  • NEITHER USB 6008 voltage offset using CSR and measurement of diff.

    Hi all

I am currently trying the NI USB 6008 housing and I'm getting problems when reading voltage analog using CSR or differential.

So basically, what I want to measure is a PWM signal (0 to 12V), which is divided by a divisor of tension (by two). But instead of measured 0V and 6V

    I am in a position a constant 0.8V and approximately 3V.

On the side of digital data acquisition, I give you on impulses for the SSR... and it works fine.

I connect it that way: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/95CC0CB11D7DF3D18625712E000C4ABD?OpenDocument

    Best regards

    EDIT: Attached graphics acquired are

What is the impedance of your voltage divider?  The input of the USB-6008 impedance is not very high. If the impedance of the partition is large, it could cause the effect you see.
