  • can't activate windows xp with the product key that came with the computer

I got a computer of 510N HP Pavilion from a friend who was absolutely riddled with viruses and malware of all kinds.  Every thing I did to clarify apparently nowhere got done or made it worse.  At the end of the day, the computer would only begin to restart, stop after the start of the HP logo screen, then start to boot, etc and more.  All I could do was to install the hard drive in another computer and format, from scratch.  Now, I'm trying to install the system to XP op for the disc that came with the computer.
the problem: the code the product key on the case went wrong with the disc.  After searching for solutions, I found a code on the disk by searching the files it contains, tried and it worked!  Problem is when I try to turn it on, it says it's an "unauthorized product key."  I tried to enter that code on the box and who says he is "invalid".  The Cd look authentic; are for distribution with new pc HP and Compaq.  After a further inspection drives are XP Professional SP2, while if it is XP Home Edition.  What gives?  Activation does not anyway. It is any use that will not make me buy a new set of disks?

Please let me know if more info or detail is necessary.

PS - only a single piece of hardware has been changed - the cdrom initially provided with the computer was bad, so I went out to perform the installation.

When you perform a restore to the factory on some HPs condition you have two choices: 1) a restoration which keeps your data and programs (in a repair installation); (2) a full destructive restore which brings back the machine to the State, it's when you first opened the box. In your case, you have already wiped the drive, so the question is moot. I would call the HP technical support. Normally when you use an OEM recovery media (HP, Dell, etc.) a product key is never required during the restore. If you have used the media to restore HP shipped with your system and are always asked for a key and one on the sticker machine is not accepted, then something is certainly. How can I configure my windows 7 after restoring my laptop to the factory conditians?

My laptop had a blue screen and I couldn't get rid of it, I went into safe mode and restore my computer to factory conditions. When the computer says "the installation program starts services" you stop and I couldn't turn it back on for 15 minutes. When I turned on and tried to contained my setup, a message keeps poping up "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error." Windows Setup cannot continue. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. "But no mader, how many times I reboot my laptop, the same message appears. What should I do? I've restored my computer several times and never had this problem.

    You should try another recovery.

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

  • SlimType BD E DS4E1S will not read discs after windows update

My laptop has a Slimtype BD E DS4E1S drive.  After doing upgrades with windows 7, it can now read all disks.  All MS suggests tried, but nothing has worked.  Don't ask, discs have been read in the same drive, before this problem started.  The computer is only a couple of months.  This utility shows no problem with the drive.  It just keeps telling me to insert a disc, such that no disk is detected.  Already tried changes to the registry (MS) and uninstall, reinstall the driver with no result.  Any suggestions?

  • "Windows updates were not be properly configured and restoration of changes." The computer freeze

I have a laptop Dell inspiron 1501 with windows vista on it.

I don't have the disc of windows Vista DVD you are referring to, I have never recived a Dell I bought the computer on the internet with vista already installed.

My problem is that, with respect to the windows updates, I get a message saying "Windows have been developed to date not be properly configured and restoration of changes". I have 51 updates pending, 47 of these updates is equivalent to 170 MB.

As a result of these updates, I think it's the cause of my freezing computer once I have connected and I have to restart only having do not 2 - 3 times.

When the computer "freezes" the cursor does not move throughout the scene, none of the keys works, including Manager tasks etc., the only thing that works is to turn the computer off. Sometimes, there is a beep, beep once the computer crashes.

Over 95% the updates I have try have 'no '.

I'm lost as how to how to repair?

All good suggestions welcome to solve this problem, the simpler the better... I don't want to have to buy a new computer... If I won't Dell... and I'll have to get the windows disc... most solutions here seem to require it...

    Hi AL0001,

Run the chkdsk command to check that there are no problems with your hard drive. To run the disk check, follow these steps:

    1. Restart your computer and immediately press the F8 key until you reach the menu Advanced Boot Options.
    2. Select Mode safe mode with command prompt.
    3. At the command prompt, type chkdsk/r (there is a space between the k and /)

Meanwhile, check the Dell website to see how you can get a recovery disk in case you need to recover Windows.

  • Disc of Windows 7 64-bit is the 32-bit installation. Help?

I bought windows 7 the other day and it came with CD 32-bit and 64-bit.  I jumped in the 64-bit CD to install on my computer brand new brand with all new components, because I built it myself.  I do not think that to make sure that she had installed 64-bit because who would have thought that the CD would install 32-bit. So I played minecraft last night and my client has crashed, citing that he was short of allocated memory, which given I have 8 GB of it, which should not happen.  In any case, I checked my computer > properties to make sure that all the RAM showed upward, and I realized that the 32-bit installed CD and so was only 3.4 GB of RAM let me use. I don't have any errors during installation, and I tried to re - install windows several times. Nothing has worked. Any help to understand this would be great. I searched on google for something similar to what happened with me and nothing came.
