I can get the led light will stop flashing when I open the door all the way, the machine detects the drive but do not read or close on its own, how can I get this disc surgery? Downloading updates, I installed a software disc, when I ejected the disc, the drive comes of is stopped. The computer still sees the drive, but will not read or even close on its own. I also had been using my computer in mode mute until I tried to increase the volume and now the computer tells me no playback device installed. Device Manager acknowledges the Harmon/Kardon soundsticks connected to it, but nothing does, how it works? The Control Panel also sees the soundsticks, but still when I try to move the volume the computer says there is no playback device installed.

  2. what day you installed recently?

  It seems to be a problem with the hardware. I suggest you try to uninstall and reinstall the CD/DVD driver and check if it helps.

  Follow the steps to uninstall and re-install the drivers.

  a. click on start toreduce this includes this im and then click Control Panel.

  b. click system and Maintenance, click Systemand then click on Device Manager.
  Note If Control Panel is in Classic view, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.

  Reduce this includes this imageIf you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

  c. in the Manager device, expand CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, right click on CD and DVD devices and then click Uninstall.

  d. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK.

  e. restart the computer.

  If the methods mentioned above did not help, then it would be best to contact the manufacturer of the computer/CD/DVD player.

  Hello everyone, I spent the time to research on the here and the other site on why the CD/DVD does not work with El Capitan 10.11.5 on MacBook Pro mid 2009. This discussion forum has said that he will not work with the El Capitan software. Any idea or suggestion? Back to Marverick or Yosemite? I tried to use SMC reset, restart, recovery and still the same issue.

  I have my doubts that the (10.11.5) software is the problem.  Are you sure that the DVD player is simply not defective?  Have you tried to clean the lens?  What is the State of the disc?

  Your best option may be a date at a bar in engineering of the Apple store for a FREE evaluation.

  My computer does not show only c CD-RW/dvd drive.  Device Manager shows yellow Semi colon with the following SDRW/DVD HL-DT-ST GCC 4244.  Diagnostic checks the drive and States that all past.  Could not locate my disc resource.   I downloaded the drivers needed from the Dell site and the burner will not work. The computer was again in March 2009. Not sure where the drivers should be located. I downloaded on: win\syswow64\drivers\afc.sys. I've looked everywhere and tried to find a dialog box offering the option "update drivers" for this device. Could not find a way to do except Dell and that doesn't seem to work. The 64-bit system has no 'Device Manager' that I can find. When I look at the properties of the burner, the link to "find a solution" is not highlighted.

  My DVD player does not work. I insert a disc, you can hear the drive works for some time, but then nothing happens. I checked the Device Manager' - under readers of CD-ROM/DVD-ROM it shows: MAST * A DVD-RAM UJ862AS, but there is a black exclamation point in a yellow circle next to it. I opened the dialog box 'Properties' and under the status of the device, he wrote:

  What you can do is follow:
  Remove the optical drive from Device Manager drive, restart your laptop.

  I want to restore my Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop to its original factory condition, but the DVD that comes with the package of recovery does not work...

  I have load to start computer press F12, and it starts on the DVD. It says "Loading RAMDISK Image", after which I am told by Toshiba customer service there should be options to clean up the hard drive or restore Windows XP.

  However, after VIRTUAL disk, I see a cursor on a black screen, and then the laptop off and restarts. After the connection, NO CHANGES made...

  The recovery procedure is not difficult.
  Just try to boot from the recovery CD or DVD and follow the Guide on the screen line.

  Your problem is very strange. You have created all the partitions on the HARD drive?
  I put really t know why your recovery CD doesn't work properly, but I think you should try to completely format the disk (also partitions), then try to boot from the recovery CD.

  Don't forget that the laptop is in the boot mode. (don t mix the standby or hibernation mode)
