Drive hard IDE does not appear in windows Explorer

I have Windows 7 with two SATA drives. I also have an IDE drive and a dvd player connected to a single cable for IDE connection on the motherboard. One of the players SAT is the master. I have problems with the IDE hard drive I want to use as archive. It is connected to the end of the IDE cable as master, the DVD as slave connected to the middle connector on the cable. The BIOS detects the drive and the Device Manager but I can't in Windows Explorer, which means that I can't copy files to it and pick it up. Someone at - it ideas?

Thank you

Tony

Original title: Explorer does not see drive?

It has been used on another PC. Disk management idetifies just like a Maxtor N40p and ability, but nothing else. I tried using Seagate disk checker (Maxtor is now Seagate) and it doesn't have the tests, so I think it must be irreparable :-(

Thanks anyway.

  • External hard disks do not appear in Windows Explorer

I have Win 7 SP1 64 bit Home Premium. Recently, four external drives are not recognized in Windows Explorer, but show in disk device manager &. They all work well and are recognized in another PC. I have tried different methods to solve the problem without success. I unplugged all the USB ports and the power supply for the discs off the PC. After a reboot, one by one, I turned on the readers and attached to their USB cable. Plug & Play worked well and I could open the files in the first drive. The player showed in disk management, the Manager of devices and Windows.  As soon as I installed the second disc, one disappeared from the Windows folder but remained in Mgt of disc and Device Manager. It's the same thing when I installed the readers of 2nd, 3rd and 4th... After the shutdown of the PC and turn it back on, none of the drives show in Windows, but has shown in managing disks and Device Manager.

I also tried Mr. Fixit. I uninstalled all the USB controllers. I activated turn on AutoPlay. Nothing has solved the problem! If she can be of any consequence or relevant to this problem, the internal drive in my PC now has been cloned from a smaller drive about a month ago. Any help to solve this frustrating problem would be greatly appreciated.

  • Disk hard online, but not visible in Windows Explorer

Hi guys, I need a little help.

Today, I installed an old 80 GB Maxtor Diamondmax 10 PATA hard drive on my other PC, a Dell Inspiron 530, as a second HDD. I had to order new parts to connect actually upward from the power supply and motherboard SATA and IDE connections are not, but all those who are working very well.

My problem is that this Maxtor drive does not appear in Windows Explorer. BIOS, see Device Manager it disk management he sees (and even said it's online). Just not Windows Explorer.

In disk management, it is not a drive letter assigned to it, and when I right click on the disk partitions, anything but 'Delete the Volume' and 'Help' are grayed out. (Screenshot here: http://i39.tinypic.com/2ujpbeo.png)

I'm a bit stumped, it's almost like I can't use the drive at all. Any ideas?

Here's some more information about the system:

HARD drive secondary: 80 GB Maxtor Diamondmax 10 PATA (with jumper set to "Master DS")
