DV 6 factory reset with HP recovery disk

Hello
I did a clean install of win7 because I didn't have a HP recovery disk and known a lot of driver problems... When I finally orderd one recovery disc from HP to make it back to factory State, windows does not recognize the recovery disc, since the 'HP recovery manager' by default was deleted... and when you press F11 at startup, the screen just says "F11... the system recovery" on the lower left corner and stay like that forever.

Is what I can do to reset it to the factory?
Thank you!

You are the very welcome.

I don't know what the question might be, unfortunately.

What was the problem with the installation of W7?

Normally, if well done, your laptop will work much better on a simplified version of W7 with all the bloatware that comes on the original image.

I contact HP and make them aware of the number of recovery disc and in the meantime, try the clean install of W7.

Install the drivers, it is like building a House.  You start with the Foundation and work your way upward.

The Foundation 3 drivers must be installed in a specific order, and you reboot after each installation.

If you do not, your installation will be unstable not unlike a House if you put the walls first and then decided to dig the basement.

The first pilot, you always need to install is the Intel chipset installation utility.  Who installs the drivers for the motherboard.

You restart when you are prompted.

The second driver you install is the graphics driver.  Your model has the AMD/Intel switchable graphics, so the only graphics driver, that you install the AMD graphics driver that installs the drivers for the AMD graphics cards and Intel.   NEVER install the Intel graphics driver or allow HP or windows update to install an updated the Intel graphics driver.  Then you REB oot.

The third driver you install is the audio driver and restarted.

Then comes the wired network adapter.

Then, you can install everything in any order you want.  You will probably want to install the driver for the wireless card then.

Download the drivers from another PC and use a USB flash drive to install the first 4 on your laptop if you keep the correct order of installation for these important factors.

If you're stuck trying to find a specific driver, display the ID of the hardware for it.

Use this method to find the hardware ID.

I used the for example wireless card, because most people have trouble knowing what model of wireless card they have.

Go to Device Manager.

There should be a category showing other devices .

Less than one catergory other devices should be a list of devices that need drivers.

They will have little things! marks next to them.

The wireless network card is the device below the category other devices like a network controller.

Click the network controller device, and it will open a window with tabs at the top of the window.

Click the Details tab.

On the Details tab, you will see a drop-down list of property.  It will be a default Description of the appliance.

On this list and select the second item which is the hardware ID

Now you should see 4 lines or more characters and the top row begins with PCI\VEN.

After this first string.

That tells the user the manufacturer and the type of device that it is.

  • Re: Satellite L300D comes with the recovery disk?

    Hello

    I don't get a recovery disk when I bought my Satellite L300D.
Does anyone know if Satellite L300D is provided with the recovery disk?

As much I know computers made from the middle of 2007 aren't provided with the operating system recovery disks. How can I find out what year my satellite is made?

    Thank you very much

All new models of laptops including your are delivered without the recovery DVDs.
Recovery image is saved in the folder called HDDRecovery on the second partition.

Akuma is right. "You need to create a recovery media using preinstalled" Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. The shortcut that you can find on the desktop. Please do so and for the creation of recovery media I recommend you to use media high quality as TDK or Verbatim DVD-R.

You can install OS using the F8 key at startup to the top. The guideline how to proceed you will find under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
Note please. This can be done if this recovery image is not modified or if you install another operating system on the first partition. the second partition can be in original condition, but this F8 option will be gone.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

    > Satellite Pro L40 - how to make a dual boot with two recovery disks?
Short answer: you can't do that. Maybe if you have two hard disks (I tried didn't) but as much as I know your SP L40 has only one.
Ask this smart guy, how to do this. Maybe it's a useful tip.

  • I reformatted my T520 with the recovery disk, but Windows cannot start

I reformatted my T520 with my recovery disk. When the computer restarts, it says that Windows cannot start properly. Help, please.

I finally solved the problem; Here is my solution:

I have determined that the backup image has been bad, and this is perhaps why the recovery disks have been as bad. I tried to use both to reformat the C:\drive several times without success. Fortunately, I had a Windows 7 disc from another computer that I no longer use. However, the T520 would not be updated to Windows 7 using this disk, so I run Diskpart to reformat all (this removes everything, including the image.) Then, I was able to reinstall Windows 7.

With this new facility, would not any responsible drivers, including LAN and wireless drivers. I went on the Lenovo Web site: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?selector=expand to download the driver for "Intel Wireless LAN (11abgn, abg, bg). This provided wireless access to the computer. (Downloaded the driver on another computer, saved on a USB stick to transfer to the T520.) Restarted the computer in case where. Then, I went to http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=TVSU-UPDATE to download ThinkVantage System Update 5.0. After you have installed this software and reboot, all the necessary drivers would be so loaded.

Unfortunately, if you don't have any Windows disk, you will need to pay 50 dollars to get one from Lenovo. Lesson learned? Next time I buy a new computer, the first thing I would do is to reformat and reload the computer by using the image while still under warranty. I did several times with my other Lenovo laptops without fail. I have to do this once every 3 years each time my computer seems to slow down. This is the first time, it didn't work.

I hope this help anyone who is in the same situation.

(Boy, I have miss the good old days when I could fix everything from the DOS command prompt.)

Yes, you should be able to reinstall, but if you can you should disable before resetting the machine.  Otherwise, if the two license activations were used and no reset you will need to contact Adobe Support by chat and ask them to reset your activations.

  • Pavilion 6b50ei: try to factory reset but the recovery partition/drives created are defective

I have a pavilion dv7-6b50ei notebook pc purchased 2012. He always gives a command prompt pop up who don't stay long enough to read. I felt too there is a virus on it that my anti-virus did not solve so I tried the factory reset, but when I restart and press F11 it gives an error (something like a boot... is missing). so I tried my recovery disks. CD 1 of 4 ran fine but disk 2 continues to stop with an error. Now, the laptop will not charge because I think that the operating system was formatted during the recovery and do not know what to do. I feel disc 2 is bad too because he also gave an error trying to copy on a USB key. I also tried an external dvd and run the hp hard disk test; the hard drive passed the test. If I can get a new set of recovery discs, it would solve my problem. In addition, I look forward to ideas. Help, please.

    Hello

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can still read all the key character product activation 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the Disk Image correct ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Windows Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

You may need, additional drivers and software are here.

    Hello

In the past, you probably had old laptop models shipped without recovery disc option HARD and recovery facility old ghost. Now it works a little different.
    Here is my little explanation:

    Question n ° 1
    > Is it possible to use the recovery disk, but to choose the partition that I want to be to install the operating system?
N ° before installation of HARD drive recovery image will be erased completely and create new partitions (factory State).

    2nd edition
It will not work. Installation of recovery work as installation DVD or HARD drive recovery procedure.

  • How to restore a pc with the recovery disk?

my pc crashed, wouldn't boot up.pressed f10 it restored until I knew it .i could kick myself for that, because I lost all my pix and files.now my pc seems to be missing something, because I can't get some of my programs to work.i think my recovery disk is corrupted and I need to recover my pc using the disc.can install someone shed some light on this for me?

a recovery of the system is the same as the factory restore.  If your computer is shipped with the OS pre-installed, then it is likely, that you have the opportunity to do a factory restore, which will wipe the drive clean of all data and restore the default OS and programs with which the computer originally provided.

However, if you can borrow a cd of win xp, you can try to repair your current installation via the recovery console.  There are some commands that you can run that can fix and adjust some things in order to stabilize the operating system.

either said by the way, don't be a system restore confused with a system recovery or factory restore.   I know it seems a little confused.

However, a system restore is the feature offered by the built in windows system restore feature, and it is not the same as a system recovery or factory restore.

    just some info.

If you need to wipe OUT the data on your iPhone, you can do this by placing the device into recovery mode and restore through iTunes.
