DV2000 (Dv2315) with XP

HP wouldn't let me be more specific in their choice of what Board to connect to hope that if someone can help.   I work with a DONATION DV2000 (2315nr) that I hope make it work quite that disadvantaged students can use on wireless connections.   The first problem is that this must have Windows Vista but the donation was without the original hard drive.  We can only legally use a Windows Xp Os on replacement disks.

The first thing I tried was the "Let's HP auto detect my devices.   It will not as the software always throws error messages. I can not connect on the HP forums by typing that almost anything is more than a challenge.  The boxes appear and disappear, jumping around and deleting the previous text.     I begin to see why this device has been given.

The Wireless does not work although the card works.   I tried several of the suggestions, but had no chance.  Wireless Assistant is downloaded but does not, all I get is a definition of what makes WA!

At this stage I don't know how to proceed.  Just give up and trash the unit or is their way to save using XP?   I could not find drivers for DV2000, but if there are more specific for 2315nr how to find?  Any advice would be appreciated.

You are the very welcome.

Yes, these models had problems with the motherboard as well as the series dv6000 and dv9000 due to overheating, etc..

One of the common problems is that the motherboard loses power to the wireless mini-PCIe card slot.

If the wireless card is perfectly fine but has no power, so wireless.

    Hello

On the Start Menu, click all programs, and scroll the list until you find a folder named Recovery Manager.  Open that folder and launch the recovery application, click Advanced and you should find the opportunity to restore the PC to factory settings.  The other method is to type away at f11 that you start the PC to be launched HP Recovery.

1 long, 2 short indicates a failure of the video chip. Quite common on the DV2000 series with gpu Nvidia. • Compatibility of equipment or replacement parts

    Hello

    I have two laptops hp.

HP DV6710EA (on the screen, it says dv6000)

HP DV2530EA (on the screen, it says dv2000)

    Q1. How HP labeling its products, because the average dv6000 dv6001, 2, 3 or 2100, 2200, 2500, up to 30000)

Q2. Is it possible that I can find for the above models found in other models and how I know that. For example when I go to ebay to find the part if she says dv6000 rather dv6710ea, it would be compatible?

the same dv2000 which is actually dv2530ea (service tag).

or all products starting with dv6 fact... the same as dv67ea, or dv68ea

Q3. How do I know if part of manufacturere or the brand or different model will fit into a different model or make? is this possible? like the keyboard, motherboard, etc... is there a simple way to know?

Q 4 can find a site that can list the compatible models or one that I'm looking for the neares models?

5 Q What other model would have the same parts for dv2530ea and dv6710ea

I need hinges, screen, keyboard, screen cover for dv2530ea

    and the motherboard for dv6710ea.

can you guys please where help and how do I find these pieces, I already tried the same models, but no luck so I was wondering if I can find the same parts in all other models (closer to the models in question)

This is the first time that I write in the forum please forgive me for spelling errors

    impatience on your part

Thanks for your help and much thanks a lot in advance for the answers.

The best way to search for parts of the laptop is to search by part number, not the model number of the laptop. Remove the part you want to replace so you can use it to reference looking for a replacement.

In fact, I disassembled a dv2500 and a dv2000 and dv6000 an a dv6500. They are similar but slightly different. The two types of main models are the dv2000/6000 with model numbers dvx000 to dvx499, then the largest number starting with dvx500 and top model. And then remember there are Intel and AMD each versions.

This site has service manuals for any of the above and you can use the maintenance manual for cross reference numbers.

    dv2500 manual

    DV2000 manual

Above are links to the respective manuals for the dv2000 and the dv2500 and I could link you to the dv6000 dv6500 manuals.

In other words there is no simple way to answer your question in all areas. What part? What model?

The dv2000/2500 series are screens of 13 inches, the dv6000/6500 are 15 inches (15.4 widescreen) and the dv9000/9500 are 17 inches.  Electronic components are similar. But for example on the dv2000 it used readers CD/DVD IDE and then the used dv2500 SATA CD/DVD players are therefore not interchangeable. Obviously, the width of the keyboard is different depending on the size of the screen. Once again, what model, what part? It's like asking will be 68 Camaro parts work in a 70 Camaro... Some will, some won't, it depends.

  • Failed to install Vista Service Pack 2 (32-bit): do not normally reboot system...

When update SP2 introduced a few days ago, I tried to install it next to other updates. He installed the files, asked me to restart to make the facilities to be effective, and again started installation of the service pack in 3 steps (of course he has shown not to turn off the ot system to disconnect it). When he began to install while closing, the first step has been successful at 100%, and when it was 98% done in step 2 THE SYSTEM of COMPLETTELY STOP ALL of a SUDDEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. When I rebooted the system, it recommended to launch startup repair and asked me if I want to restore the system and when I accepted, it AUTOMATICALLY restored to a previous point and windows started normally (before you start to install SP2, it has shown to do a restore point)...

Now, when I checked in the history of the update, all other updates of internet explorer, windows etc defender have been installed except SP2. What is more worrying is that my laptop is not STARTING NORMALLY since then. Always asking me 'Launch system repair' at the beginning - to go to system restore... and then only from the windows... even if just RESTART instead shutdown and startup, the same thing happens... So, I started to keep mode "sleep" when not in use (I was doing important work in small sessions and did not dare to stop)

I tried to install SP2 twice since then and each time the SAME THING REPEATED.

Now when I rebooted my system that's repeatedly went to 'Launch Startup Repair' but not to the point where he asks me if I want to RESTORE... instead, it's just SHUTTING DOWN...

I am running Vista Home premium on my laptop HP Pavilion DV2000 series with processor 2.1 GHz intel core 2 duo, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB HD, NVIDIA graphics 512 MB, lightscribe DVD burner...

No idea what can do now? Any suggestions would be much appreciated...

-Does anyone know if there is a replacement of a graphics card for the HP Pavilion laptop dv2000 which would make it compatible with Windows 10?

    Hi there @murray62east,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is an excellent site to find answers and ask questions. I understand that you are curious about a replacement of a graphics card.

Unfortunately the graphics cards are not replaceable on laptop HP Pavilion dv2000. They are directly attached to the motherboard. The only way to replace a graphics card would be to replace the entire motherboard.

Hope that I have answered your question.

    Have a great day!

  • Hi can I use xp for dv2000 recovery disk to downgrade a dv2000 with preinstalled vista thank you

can I use the xp from the computer recovery disks laptop xp

to downgrade vista to xp or is it better to install windows 7 please

    Thank you very much

    maggieglanville

    Hello:

You probably have to downgrade your laptop from Vista to XP, but you do not have a license (right to downgrade) to do with Microsoft.

Normally, the desktop and professional laptops only received rights to downgrade to XP due to risk of operations undertaken grinding halt because of software with some programs and Vista incompatiblities.

Personally, it is best to switch to Windows 7.

Since your laptop with Vista, it can run Windows 7. For all the missing drivers you may need to you can use normally drivers Vista on the support page and the driver of your laptop.

In addition, you can read through this guide for dv2000 for Windows 7 upgrade.

  • Start with an external display in VISTA with an HP dv2000 laptop

    Hello

My HP laptop screen is broken, so I need to use an external monitor. Unfortunately, the screen not active really up to what I'm going to connect to the page into account. This means that if I want to access bios, upgrade to a new operating system, or to do other things, I'm completely blind.

Is it possible that I can get the operating system to start with my external monitor.

Please note: I have a strong experience of PC and I'm decent to things like the change of systems. So feel free to suggest something dangerous or risky.

    -Hamed

Unfortunately, what you want to do is not possible.  The system should be launched before the second monitor is enabled (and you can't have the main monitor an external monitor on a laptop).  If you want to see what you do with stains where the disk hard operating system is not in use, you have no other choice than to repair your laptop screen (it does not cost much more and if you get only one monitor (and not the entire upper eyelid) you can replace exactly that and it shouldn't cost as much as a whole new lid (assuming it's the monitor that is the problem and not) (not something in the lid) anywhere near).  I did myself on my Dell and it wasn't easy by any means and I had to use tiny tools, I had not used in years (and if ever I need to do it again, I could just let a technician computer repair or Dell even myself worth) - but it can be done.

There is no way to say BIOS (or something else) to use the external monitor as primary monitor - the controls are not there, and even if they were, the connections would be not activated by the system (and you cannot do it from the BiOS unless / until the system works).  You might be able to do the main monitor once the system is working, but not until then.  I appreciate your computer experience and a willingness to try something dangerous or risky, but it is not a question of who - it is just possible iisn can't with any Windows OS I know and probably other software of OS as well (and I'm not sure I would even suggest something dangerous - perhaps risky - even if I knew it would work because I'm tryng to help solve the problems and not cause) new or worse those).

I would just bite the bullet and contact HP and get the laptopr fixed or at least get the part and try to do it yourself (a bit risky, difficult, time consuming and who need very small tools to accomplish if this can be done on a HP as it did on my Dell - you need HP technical support or parts if it is possible and that the difference in cost to ensure that it is possible) and useful effort).

I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it's like that.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello @pxj,

I understand that your laptop keyboard does not work, and that your alternative keyboard does not work as well. I'd be happy to help you in this case!

As your drivers available of the system does not contain the keyboard for Windows 7 drivers, I recommend you to get a drive recovery to re - install Windows Vista on your system. This can be done by following this document on getting a HP recovery disks or USB HP recovery disc.
