DV8-1200CTO does not recognize hard drive 2 TB

Installed a new hard drive 2 TB. Time 8.1update Windows 64-bit and windows 7 ultimate 64-bit won't recognize the new drive. A disk initialized for mbr on another computer. Disk formatted and reinstalled on laptop. Windows disk management does not display the drive.

In the second span? Maybe not. Even a notebook of 1.5 TB drive is probably advanced format. There is no other way to fit that amount of data on a 2.5-inch drive. I am frankly surprised that the 1 TB worked

  • Drive problem hard dv8000 - does not recognize hard drives

This is my first post, so please let me know if I did something wrong!

OK, so the other day, I was working on my dv8000 when he walks just down. I turned it back and instead of properly start he told me that he could not find the operating system. Knowing that the machine was two disks in it, I swapped the primary with secondary school and always got the same result. Then, I went out and bought an external and attached drive Bay hard drive to my office. The disc was bad and kept cycling the heads. I have now bought a new HDD and the laptop is currently configured with the new disk into the main slot and the other original hard dirve I checked and it is good in the second slot. Here's my problem - when I go in the bios that the computer recognizes the two hard disks for boot options, but when I try to load XP from a cd to the laptop, it tells me that there is just no hard drives installed... What don't get me? I checked the disc for errors via the bios and the comeback test passed. I thought about formatting of readers but the bios doesn't have a format feature in what I can say. for all the intense and fine, the bios sees the readers, but the operating system does not work. Any ideas >

Please help because this is my machine of the company and I can't keep borrowing my wifes laptop, she thinks I'm going to break this one too!

    Thank you.

"When I try to load XP from a cd to the laptop, he tells me that there is just no hard drives installed... What missing am me?"

Your cd does not necessarily include the required drivers. The original (MS detail) XP installation cd does not detect the SATA drives. Also some other readers can be detected, including the ATA/IDE standard. If you have your original factory CD, you could try this, it should work. You can try to install another operating system, for example. Ubuntu and see if these disk become visible.

  • Satellite 4100xcdt does not recognize HARD drive after update BIOS version 8.20

My laptop is a satellite 4100XCDT with windows xp and I want to install linux.
Have the cd bootable linux (tested on other computers) but laptop doesn't not boot cd shape so I updated the bios with version 8.20 from the toshiba support site.
Tried the disks formatted 1.44 and 7.20 such as recommended in the manual of the 4xxx series. BIOS has been updated successfully

Result: after pressing the switch of the usual screen Toshiba appears, after the disc hard led flashes for a few seconds then windows except modus menu appears. After I made my choice (all tried) a few seconds later (and hard drive led light) flashes a blue screen (not enough long to read the message) and the computer is restarted. When starting from a back bootable floppy, I can't reach the (cd rom) drives (hdd) C and D
But in my opinion that Windows Save menu modus is called from the hard drive (so I think that the hard drive still works)

    Hello

Well, in my opinion a part on the HARD drive or bootable partition might be corrupted.
You are right, if the windows save mode appears therefore HARD drive has been recognized by the BIOS and the HARD drive is bootable.

I think there must be something wrong with the data on the HARD drive.
Something similar happened on my laptop several weeks ago. After you use the chkdsk/r, I was able to run the operating system again. But then I installed everything again.

On the Toshiba page I found the companion disc.
The accompanying disk is capable of detecting your CD-ROM drive on the
Toshiba during the boot process. If you need access to your CD-ROM
Hunt, then delete "rem" Word the following lines in the Autoexec. BAT
and CONFIG. SYS on the accompanying disk.

    REM if exist toscd001 a:\mscdex D:TOSCD001 /M:10 (AUTOEXEC. BAT)

  • Converter does not recognize hard drive

    Hello

my physical machine is a Dell Latitude E6510, Win 7 Pro 64 bit.

I installed VMWare converter standalone 4.3.0.292238, to create a copy of the virtual machine to the physical system.

The first time I run the converter, everything went well - he saw all the partitions on the HARD drive, etc., I changed some options and began the conversion - it ended up OK. Unfortunately, the generated virtual machine could not be started so I deleted all the files and everything started again.

However, now Converter can't see HDD. On the first screen, when I click «View source détails...» ', he says:

Source of the disk (s): no info on the disks.

The strange thing is the first time I run the converter, he saw all the partitions - and I do not have any changes since then.

Disk partition configuration is odd, there is

    OEM Partition 39 MB

RECOVERY ~ 800 MB (primary active, system,)

    OS (C:\) (boot, primary)

    2 data partitions (logical drives)

The first 3 partitions existed, created by Dell. I then shrunk C and added two partitions of data.

No idea how to solve this problem and to review the HARD drive?

    Thank you

Try to turn off UAC and run the converter by right click and selection "Run as Administrator".

I have a My Passport to the top by car and I get error messages on this to be ejected (although it was still connected). Now my computer does not recognize the drive. All solutions?

Drive, interface in the crankcase of training controller, or the USB port or the cable may be faulty.

  • CD/DVD does not recognize the drive.

CD/DVD does not recognize the drive.  Error message-"Insert a disk." "" "Insert a disk in the drive (E or F, depending on whether one in use).  I bought a DVD/CD thought exteranl today that might work.  Same error message with the external dvd/cd.  Can hear the disc turning when it is inserted during a short period of time, maybe 20 seconds, then it stops.  Sometimes, the disc is ejected when the error message appears, sometimes not.  Same results even with blank CDs.

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

  • historical files Windows 8 does not recognize my drive hard iomega

I have problems with the historical establishment of files to back up my files, because the program does not recognize my Iomega portable hard drive.

I get this error message whenever I try to backup the files.

Historical files does not recognize this player!

They appear in the my computer list and I can drag and drop files it, all right.

    Any ideas?

OK, I cracked now the problem of the history files do not recognize my USB external, even if the drive expansion drive had worked initially and he was behaving normally in the file Explorer. Here is how I have it done - it worked for me on my PC - maybe it will work for others.

    1. open the file history, and then click Select Drive. Select a different drive than the one that fails to be recognized. (If necessary add a HARD extra internal drive to your PC. If you have a laptop you can try adding an extra USB drive to a different USB port - I have not tried). Continue to set up the history of the files on the new disk. Then turn off historic files on the new drive so that a whole bunch of files are not transferred.

    2. go on the external USB drive that has not been recognized, find the folder of the file history, and rename it to "File History.old" or remove it.

    3. go to your C:\Users\your user folder\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows, find the folder of the file history and rename "File History.old" or remove it.

4 re - open history file, click Select drive and select the original USB key that was not recognized. The player must now be implemented normally and begin to function.

5 remove the folder from the file history on the hot spare used in procedure 1. above.

The process described above is relevant to situations where people can change drive letters by adding or removing disks or the system of travel between readers and for this reason the history of files configuration files are pointing to the wrong drive.

    I have a drive hard toshiba 3.0,.

    What is the problem?

Maybe you should check the user manual s TV for more information on the format of file or the support of hard drives.
I know in many cases, the hard drives or flash memory sticks must be formatted using TV to get the file format supported special that can be read by the TV.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit in VMware Fusion version 3.13 on a Mac OSx Lion with 8 GB of RAM (4 GB for Win) and a 1 TB drive.

Yes, inside the prompt, you must run the disk to initialize/develop/format the partition manager.

  • Install XP does not recognize my drive as full version

Hello. I tried to do a clean install of XP Pro (academic version) with new partitions. I did this several times. Unfortunately, this time, I interrupted the process of partitioning. When I tried to reboot, the installation program now says he "cannot find a previous version of windows installed and needs to check that I have rights to use this upgrade product." I have the full version but for some configuration reason does not recognize.

I tried to rebuild the MBR via the recovery console. BOOTCFG/SCAN reports failed to analyze successfully. A ran CHKDSK/P/R. no errors. Ran FIXMBR: reports new MBR written correctly.

No success during subsequent attempts to reinstall xp pro. I'm trying to reinstall on a laptop HP zd7030us.

    Thanks for any help provided!

    Hi Martinez:

In fact, I did exactly as you suggested. But I've since found the answer: my XP Pro CDIS updated although indicating there is nothing on the CD itself. In fact, when I bought it, my intention was to purchase the full product since I received the student discount. How I ended up with a upgrade version is unknown. Grrr! And all this time I thought that to do a "clean install" with repartitioning the disks required to version complete. Apparently not. When I interrupted the process of partitioning I erased everything that said that there had already been a legitimate copy of XP on the PC.

How do I know this? I took a glance at the PID found in I386\setupp.ini on the installation CD. My PID is 55276000, which indicates a version upgrade. (For those of you who want to understand what the code means do a search on 'xp product id list'. NOTE: This is NOT the product key that you enter during installation.)

Anyway, there is my answer. So what I'll do? Pull on an old Win98 drive, install it and then upgrade from there.

    Thanks again,

    RonK65
