DVD player doesn't read disc

I have a HP Pavilion zv6000 and optical DVD drive will not read a disk... DVD, cd. It sounds like it is reading when I put in a disc. It runs upward and then closes. When I try to use the browser to read it, I just get the hourglass and cannot get out of him unless I force close Notepad. I even bought a new drive, but that did not help. I uninstalled it and the drivers in the Manager device and rebooted nothing done. Help.

Chuck

Thanks for the help. I uninstalled iTunes and CD in Roxio Creator and now it works fine.

    Hello

I just bought a Samsung NP350V5C-A02UK laptop and I'm having problems with the DVD player.

It will read most discs that I put in it except the Samsung OS restore disc that came with it.

I have attached a USB DVD drive to the laptop and he could read the Samsung OK restore disc is one that makes me think of a problem with the DVD player.

In Device Manager, the DVD drive is listed as:

    Hello

Be sure to get technical support from the manufacturer of the system involved because that player could have alignment or other problems.
While this could be a problem, it may be a problem that will get worse over time. Also more you change
on a new machine more they will claim that it was something that you did. Try many CD from various sources to
    determine how serious this is.

CD have a tolerance + - and yours could be outside the tolerance just what the disk or anything/much.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Troubleshooting Guide generic for this issue:

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. If the drive does not appear, continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
