  Go to Device Manager and remove the drive from the list of devices CD/DVD.

  Then start the registry (regedit) and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:

  Then restart your laptop, and after that windows installs it again. Perhaps this may solve your problem.

  I'm having a problem with my DVD drive on my laptop Toshiba Equium A60. The DVD drive (Pioneer DVD - RW DVR-K13A) will play store bought movies etc. without problem.   It is not easy to find explanations for these issues. What you can try is to create own data CD and check if the drive can read. I recommend buying a blank DVD-R from TDK. Over the past 7 years I never had no problem read/write TDK media.

See the BIOS of the motherboard and it still works in the BACK. I know SP3 is a collection of updates, but I'm not sure that is my problem.
