DVD plays jerky.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 under XP Professional SP3. Recently, I tried to copy a DVD of the integral TSST CD/DVD RW +. The drive apparently had a lot of mistakes on this issue and I was unable to complete the copy. During the attempt, the player sounded like she did a lot of research and the top activity led flashes quickly, unlike the normal blinking slow uniform. After this experience, I tried to play another disc of DVD that plays fine on other computers I have. She plays, but rather jerky and not smoothly as usual. I tested the drive using Nero and found he could get stuck at about 1 x 3 + x normal speed and not increase as and the disc.

I tried to uninstall and disassemble and then put it back - which has worked to solve the same problem on other computers - no luck this time. I tried the "fix" deleting upper and lower filters in the registry of Microsoft and that did not help either. I tried to use an identical drive unit I have in reserve and know that it works very well and it does not work, so I think it's probably a software rather than a hardware problem. I tried updating the driver and that didn't help. I checked and found (again using Nero) the controller is the primary IDE with DMA, even if the option in the properties for this controller display DMA as 'if available '. I don't know what to try next.

I would like suggestions.

I responded to my problem...

I continued researching the problem on the web and found a solution for me. The key was the DMA off on the primary IDE channel. On this sitehttp://club.myce.com/f61/troubleshooting-enabling-checking-dma-windows-vista-xp-2000-me-9x-101616/, there was a great discussion and analysis that describes the problem I had. The fix, in other words, was to uninstall the primary IDE - after the first dose of certain that it has been used for CD/DVD unit and not the hard drive (very important!). Then do a re-boot and voila!, it all works exactly as before. Apparently Windows automatically disables DMA after only six or if errors occur in a row on the device used. I noticed a lot of error messages in the logging of system errors - which I can't right now remember where it is - and they were all on the DVD player does not properly. There is no other way to activate DMA even with the DMA option enabled in the window advanced IDE channel properties after that Windows turns off. The re-booting force Windows to reinstall the IDE when he sees the DVD device on the system. I'm not a super irritable, but as I understand it in simple terms.

So, this one is solved. Hope this helps someone else.

Just checked that I have the same problem - it's none of my touch buttons work (mute/DVD/play/stop, etc.) and they stay on up - even when I turn off my laptop completely.

As far as I know that I did nothing else except some windows update, that could have done it? I quite often use these buttons, so the question is rather awkward for me.

    Hello

Eventually MS updates confused something in your system.
The buttons are controlled by the different applications that are part of the VAP.

I think that you should remove the PPV of the system and should reinstall it again.

  • HP DVD Play - Vista Media Center: blue border

Hi, I have a HP Slimline s3330f media center (VMC) vista, running HP DVD Play (v2.42 build 5820).  He plays the Blu - ray.  I connected it to the TV via HDMI and I have audio digital (S/PDIF) goes directly from s3330f to my digital receiver.

Discs Blu - ray play well as VMC when I select the item 'HP DVD Play' to the Ribbon of VMC.  The problem is that there is a blue border around the movie.  It's as if the movie does not play in full screen (it has a blue border of 2 ").  Now, I know that this blue border is the VMC screen in the background.  Also, as a test, I stopped VMC and launched HP DVD Play directly to play a blu - ray movie - it works perfectly.

No idea how to get rid of the blue border (in other words, do read HP use DVD full screen when VMC is running)?

    Notes:

Installation VMC - to use a big TV flat screen

    -VMC is configured as 1080i

-nvidia drivers are installed at 1920 x 1080 resolution

nvidia drivers - are configured to use HDTV 1080i (and I also tried 1080 p, 1080 p/24, same result).

OK, I seem to have solved the problem.  However, I made a few changes and I don't know exactly what the change really solved the problem.  Here's what I did:

-upgrade to the latest Nvidia drivers

-deleted the Realtek audio drivers and reverted back to the default value of Microsoft HD Audio drivers (this, BTW, although DD 5.1 to work via S/PDIF)

-implementation of the registry changes (see here: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/278165.aspx )

-re-installed HP DVD Play (latest version)

I suspect it's the registry changes that solved the problem.

  • Windows Media Player 12 - Video DVD plays but the images are not displayed

I have a DVD that we created with Adobe Encore.  It has a mixture of video and still images to a timeline.  I play this back on a new computer Windows 7 with Windows Media Player 12.  The DVD plays back fine until it reaches the fixed image on the timeline.  At that time the reading shows just the last frame of the video to the video portion.  The audio continues, but it does not show the image.  We tried multiple image formats, and nothing seems to work (.jpg, .tiff, .psd).  The video is very good reading but with CyberLink DVD player and on a standard TV/DVD player.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi Guywestermeyer,

Check to see if the following is useful.

    Method 1:

Run the troubleshooter in Windows Media Player Settings and check if that helps.

Method 2: You can try to download the required Codecs. Refer to this article for more information on Codecs.

  • DVD plays but Audio CD is ejected

Recently, I helped a friend update an early 2008 iMac (20-inch) to raise the RAM to 4 GB and install OS X 10.11.5 El Capitan (it was under Snow Leopard). One of the questions he had before the upgrade (which he spoke to me after the fact) was that the audio CD had stopped working. He could not read them or pull them up in iTunes. Then, when I was there to guide him to the new operating system, it grew and we tried it. Of course, any form of CD audio would be read by the optical drive (we tried a computer-burned audio CD and another CD sales of the Etta James jazz diva - both were spun and then ejected unceremoniously). I thought that the optical drive was a failure.

But this is where it gets weird. We tried a DVD trading and down-and-this is, he spun, launched a DVD player and started playing the movie.

Any thoughts on why a video DVD would work fine, but audio CD is not in the same optical drive?

    Thank you

    Barry

CD and DVD uses different lasers in an optical drive. You can have a failure and other work.

You can try a disk cleanup drive. If you're lucky, it may just be lint blocking the CD laser.  If this isn't the case, you will need to replace the drive or download an external drive.

  • Satellite L455 - Burned DVD plays in slow motion in the dvd player

    Hello

    I have a Satellite L455.

I got burned a DVD with Nero 7 premium, but when I play in the dvd player, it works idle all the time. Other movies are played normally (so the problem is not the dvd player phillips), this only happens with the ones I burned in my new Toshiba laptop.

I have tried to burn all kinds of speed (x 8, 6 and 3), but the problem has not been resolved.

Can someone tell what should I do?

    Thank you.

You tested this external DVD drive?
I recommend to check the options of Nero again and maybe, you should also use an other DVDs from different manufacturers.

  • Satellite P200-1EE does not properly of the HD-DVD play

    Hello

My Satellite P200 - 1EE laptop doesn t play DVD s correctly when the DVD loads up it plays but stops and starts as a 'jump' CD and the dubbing is very bad.
So, I tried the setting on my DVD player program but made no difference at all

I think HD-DVD player is broken.
    Can someone help?

    Hello

I guess you are trying to read HD DVD using the HD DVD from Toshiba player.
    Am I wrong?

So first of all, you should try to update your HD Toshiba DVD player software.
Then, check if the HD-DVD player firmware update is possible.

The two parties, you should find on the European driver Toshiba page!

I noticed that Toshiba updated own HD-DVD player software and that has solved several problems about the HD-DVD playback.

    Good luck & best regards

  • HP TouchSmart DVD plays not new Blu - Ray

    Computer: HP Pavilion e9250t

OS: Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I'm playing a Blu - ray (Dexter season 6) most recent title thanks to the program "HP TouchSmart DVD", and it does not work. He asks me if I want to check for an update of the software when I try to read the disc. In the past when this has happened, the update allowed me to read the disc, but I seem to already have the latest version of the software (4.1.5122). He can't find the updates, and I found no updates through manual searches on the internet.

I can still play other Blu - ray discs. Scott Pilgrim just jumped in, and it worked fine.

Y at - it a newer version of the software out there? Or do I have to wait longer for an update? I guess the other possibility is that the drive is faulty, but based on my story with this question, I would say that the obsolete software is a more likely cause.

Does anyone have information on this? Anyone with similar problems? Thank you.

    Hello

Please try this (it can play BD too):

  • HP mediasmart dvd - play the blu - ray disc Avengers

    Hello

I have a hp laptop with win 7 Home premium 64-bit.

I use the HP Mediasmart DvD version 4.2.2.5122 of the software and I can not play the Avengers Blu - ray disc - all other bd drives works fine (tintin, avatar, etc.). Does anyone know if there will be an update for Mediasmart dvd software support disk Avengers?

    Hello

If you use HP MediaSmart DVD to read Blu - ray disc, try the following.

HP now provides a version of PowerDVD 10 Cyberlinks which seems to be a better solution.  Download the latest installer for it on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp56501-57000/sp56904.exe

Once the download is complete, open windows control panel, open programs and features, make a right click the entry for HP MediaSmart DVD and select uninstall - when this process is complete, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, open your downloads folder and double-click Setup for PowerDVD 10 start the installation.  Once this done, see if your Blu - ray disc now plays OK.

    Kind regards

    DP - K
