E280 v1 rockbox issues...

I completed my 8 GB and I'm currently looking to buy a microSD card. I have read forums and discovered that the only size that is really compatible is the 2 GB microSD card, and if I want something bigger (enter the microSDHC cards) that I have to install rockbox.  What is the warranty?  Also, if I install it, can I still switch to regular software?  It will erase my music when I install it?  What I put in a memory card for rockbox working or I can install it until I get my memory card?  On the rockbox site, it seems that all you have to do is download the RockboxUtility and run it, then plug in your player (playing on the MSC mode) and it should fundamentally do the installation for you.  Is this good?  I think now I'm using MTP mode... is that going to cause a problem in my music?

Sorry for all the questions... I don't want to dive in and hit all these problems and do not know what to do.

Thanks for the help.

What is the warranty? Yes, but given that this model has been discontinued for some time, you are already out of the guarantee in any case window.

Also, if I install it, can I still switch to regular software? Rockbox does not replace the Sansa (original firmware). It is "next", and you can start in either the startup.

It will erase my music when I install it? Nope.

What I put in a memory card for rockbox working or I can install it until I get my memory card? No Yes &.

On the rockbox site, it seems that all you have to do is download the RockboxUtility and run it, then plug in your player (playing on the MSC mode) and it should fundamentally do the installation for you.  Is this good? Yes. Piece of cake.

I think now I'm using MTP mode... is that going to cause a problem in my music? Rockbox must still find and play music already there, but because it works only in MSC mode, I advise to remove all these songs PSG-transfer and re - transfer to the player in MSC mode. An easy way to do this would be to format the drive, which will erase everything in one fell swoop.

Sorry for all the questions... I don't want to dive in and hit all these problems and do not know what to do. Have you read the FAQS on the Rockbox site? Many of these questions are answered, and many others.

Thanks for the help.

You are welcome.

. . . Phew!

  • E280 V1 using RockBox sees the chip of the 4 GB SDHC but don't play MP3 on the chip

    Greetings:

I have read many postings in this community and have a problem with my V1 e280 that I saw an ad for, although there are a lot of comments, so I apologize if I'm rehashing old stuff:

I have pair of Sansa e280 V1 units which work very well with the original Sansa (v.18a) and also the RockBox OS (v. 14975 - 071004).  I recently bought a pair of Sandisk 4 gig chips Micro SDHC, which I am aware only work with RockBox.  Since I can connect to my computer Windows XP SP2 only my e280 using RockBox and since any bigger piece that 2 gig will not be recognized by the operating system of origin of the Sansa, there is no way both connect to my computer and also to see the concert 4 chip at the same time , so I downloaded the MP3 files in the 4 GB chip by plugging it directly into my computer.

By the advice of this community, I connected my e280 to my computer and then deleted the folder System / Data.  Then I plugged in my 4 GB chip on the e280 and started Rockbox.   Then I went settings/General Settings/database/Initialize now and initialized and restarted the e280.

The e280 sees 4 GB (System/RockBox Info) including how chip it is occupied by the .mp3 files, but when the new database is formed, he sees not all in 4 GB chip .mp3 files, only the .mp3 files internal to the e280.

If I try to update the database (settings/general settings/Database/Update Now), then I get the standard "update in the background", and if I then go on RockBox/database and look at recently "added," I get «from the search...» 0 found ()", and shortly after, ALL database entries disappear!   I can get them by Initializing and restarted again, but still without the content of the 4 GB chip.   What happens here?

I bet that I'm missing a few simple steps - can help you?

    Thanks, Airpilot

    Howdy Bob and mark:

First of all, thanks to you both for your help.  It turns out that the two of you helped in the solution.  Bob said to check the id3 tags.  Mark asked that records on the 4 GB chip have been seen, or the files were also well seen.  Those answers gave me a break and pushed me to do the following:

    1. all files (5 of them, each 450-500 MB, streaming audio) were loaded on the root of the chip 4 GB as .mp3 files and not in a folder under the root.  I pulled the chip and created a folder in which the five files were placed.  BTW, I use a chip capable of Kingston FCR-HS219/1 SDHC drive to access my 4 GB chips.  When I reloaded and reset my e280, I could see the folder and files.  In the FILES, they are listed in the folder.  In the DATABASE, they are listed as .  This led to the realization that:

    2. my flies streaming had no id3 tags!  I agree that this has not done a difference when searching for these files in the FILE list, the fact that they had to read labels meant that I missed them, since they were lost in the list of the other files not marked in the internal memory e280.  Assigning these files id3 tags, transferring to the e280 and then the initialization of the database show them correctly in the list database.

BTW, my 4 GB chips are formatted using FAT32.

THANKS to each of you for your suggestions.   This problem is solved.

  • Rockbox install e280 v1 how long does take

I have an e280 v1 refurb and the first thing I tried to do is intall rockbox.  It was written on my drive for over an hour now.  Really worried something has gone very wrong.  Anyone who has installed Rockbox, please tell me how long it should take.

If it still says it is written, I would use the icon remove.  Restart the player and the computer and repeat the installation again.  It should take only a few minutes to do the installation.

  • E280 v1 on Mac stay connected

I have a Sansa e280 v1 player I love it.  Double Yes, because it works with Rockbox.  On Windows or Linux, using MSC mode, the drive works fine.

On Mac, I have questions.  I plug the player and it is mounted on the desktop, showing the internal memory and microSD card.  After it mounts, the player said in writing and their going immediately disconnected.

The player will appear always on the desktop, but as soon as you try and do something for the player, it blocks the Finder to that disconnect it from the Mac.

I installed Rockbox on it and used the USB of Rockbox mode and it gives me the same question.

If I go to MTP mode, it connects and remains connected, but the Mac does not PSG, then the player never mount on the desktop.

    Stats:

Sansa e280 v1 with the latest firmware

Mac Mini 2.0 Ghz with Snow Leopard installed. 4 GB of RAM and 2 other external USB HDs.

Sansa is connected to a powered USB hub.  Same problem occurs if the MicroSD slot is inserted or not.

  • My sansa e280 v2 does not recognize my 4 GB sdhc card

My sansa e280 v2 does not recognize my card sdhc and i ' v ever read other posts, but it does not work. i ' v used in msc mode, but the music does not appear. It happens on the computer, but of course I need extra space.

some posts say always use rockbox anyway, but I do not understand what to do.

    Help, please!

RB firmware does not replace the, but rather sits next to him. You can start either at will. The Rocbox utility should install everything for you.

  • Sansa E280 memory card problem

My memory card micro sd will not appear as an option on my computer or my e280 access music while it is installed in my e280, but will appear when it is in the memory of my computer card reader. I use the right MSC mode on my e280. What can I do to fix this?

  • I'm Rockboxed!

Hello everyone, and I just wanted you to know instead of the e280 8 GB, the salesman had the e250 2 GB of v1 in stock, so I took what I could get at the moment. He hopes to have some refurbed e280 more soon, and of course, I'll get one!

I got the e250 2 GB of v1 in the mail today, and I have now Rockboxed! Rockbox is much more useful that the included SanDisk firmware, it's safe. I now have a 12 or 24-hour format clock, a calculator, stopwatch and even a flashlight that uses the screen to light the way!  There is also a lot of games, but also other applications that I'll have to try it as well.

The only downside? I can't get the themes and fonts, I downloaded to install. I've been playing with it for over 3 hours now, but I'll take a break for a while. I can't make of Magnatune Rockbox install because the themes site is inaccessible at the moment, and it tells me to install manually. When I extracted the files in the folder root of Rockbox, they do not appear in the settings/theme settings/browse themes or settings/settings/browse fonts on the player e250. If anyone has any ideas, I would certainly appreciate it but I don't ask because I was looking and using tips found both here and on Rockbox forums to try to figure out, but does not. I don't think that the themes are broken, but I could be wrong. I installed (I thought) all needed fonts, but they do not seem to appear (unless they are considered as part of the package of fonts to download/install Rockbox original). Others that I am installing came on the themes page Rockbox, which help in case a given theme, I'm using doesn't have the fonts.

Thank you all and I love this player even more now!

PS: Does anyone know how to specify the application of battery bench is? Thank you!

    Under the direction of typo.

Thanks tapeworm, you have taught me something new once again. So, just to make sure I've got this clear in my head of thick Mississippi redneck, instead of unzip in folder .rockbox on the drive, just unzip in the drive Windows has assigned to the player, right? And Rockbox puts things in their place?

    That is right.

In addition, what can I do to clean theme additional and unnecessary files, that I have now accumulated with my ignorance?

If it were me, I would probably start deleting the folder integer .rockbox and files related to RB since the directory root and then re - install, then themes. Should only take a few minutes, he'll save confusion down the road.

  • E280/radio-alarm clock/dock problem FIXED!

(Not that anyone else in the world probably will never have that problem... ;->)

But in case someone ever does it, here is the solution.

    ************************

    Reminder of the problem:

Sansa and Timex clock radio play together well

    http://forums.SanDisk.com/Sansa/board/message?board.ID=E200&thread.ID=29319&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

OK, I officially * had * it! (e280, clock radio and now dock)

    http://forums.SanDisk.com/Sansa/board/message?board.ID=E200&message.ID=30169#M30169

    ******************

After communication with Sandisk (they * will keep talking about you, I'll give you em that...!), received suggestiion put in MTP mode and rename the folder 'Rhapsody' folder 'Services', if such were present.  Computer would only remove, so I again asked if the deletion was OK and if having a folder 'Rhapsody', it turns the e280 thought I had or used to have a Rhapsody subscription.  Positive on these two points, so I deleted the folder.  Problem solved.  Fix five minutes, including waiting for the computer to start...

Follows my email to Sandisk.  (It's * my * e-mail, so I figure that I can copy it anywhere I want and he said what I have to say about the problem... ;->))

    *****************

'Rhapsody' folder deleted. Unit works now fine with Sansa docking station and radio alarm clock.

Wish that someone had told me about this simple correction much earlier. (Like $500 earlier!) My husband and I love all the e280s and the docks and wake-scattered, in fact, and I guess we'll get our money out of them before die us, but what I originally wanted was to get the first e280 to work with radio-alarm clock, as it did before the problem started.

I * could * have waited until the initial problem has been fixed (possibly) instead of going on a buying frenzy, but I was afraid that if one) I waited and b) the problem has never been resolved, I would not be able to get another e280/clock radio, since the e200 series had been replaced by a new range of products.

    Suggestions for Sandisk:

Format should mean FORMAT! I don't know if I find more amazing than the left repeated formats this Rhapsody folder in place or that it took so much communication with you all luck to someone who knew that. It's not as if I did not mention Rhapsody first - due to my chance to see only fleeting message when the problem started, it was the * first * possibility I mentioned, I think.

It's also a problem the Amazon, DRM-free tracks somehow did it think that I had an expired subscription to Rhapsody, when I've never been and won't be anywhere * near * Rhapsody! (Especially after this experience!)

It would be nice if everything was at least * visible * in MSC mode - I didn't on this issue because it does not appear in the mode I use! If I * saw * it in MSC mode, I tried the suggested fix original (rename) on mine!

It would also be nice if your future mp3 players were more like the e200 series. I'm not terribly unhappy to have a bunch of e280s (well good, except for the money...), because I think they make your current line look sick.

    IMHO, FWIW... ;->

And thanks to at least talk to me until the issue is resolved (if any) - I'll say that for Sandisk!

You answer to me so that I can mark this FIXED!

  • E280 is dead!

Hi just post a few problems with my Sansa e280 8 gb. Worked fine in the morning, but when I turned on the afternoon that it froze right after playing a song and be reset. Played a video, it was very good, I went back to the music and froze again. Came home thinking I might need to update or delete music on it, but now, because it is in mode of MCP it impossible to update the database and therefore not will not come on my PC, and worse still when it freezes the fades to black screen and sounds pretty bad. Is it the battery or is it something else?

    See you soon

It is probably not the battery.

Try first a soft reset - press and hold the menu/power for 15 to 30 seconds.  This should force the unit to power off.  Turn it back on by pressing power menu again.

I don't know what is MCP mode.  You have options of the MTP or MSC mode to choose from with the players of e200 (or Auto).  On a v2 template, you can force MSC mode by putting the HOLD button on the locked position and holding down the | < button="" while="" connecting="" to="" the="" pc. ="" (one="" way="" to="" identify="" a="" v2="" is="" the="" sandisk="" logo="" will="" have="" a="" blue=""> Under Sandisk Sansa when unit comes on first.)  There is no way to force the MSC mode on a v1 model, but you do not have a Recovery Mode you can reach by engaging the HOLD switch as above, but keeps the RECORD button instead of the.<>

Assuming you have a v2 template, you can try to connect in MSC mode, bypassing the updating of the database.  If you turn off the player first, then try to manually force MSC mode, you may be able to connect to the computer in MSC mode until the player never gets to the place where it hangs on the update database process.  At this point, you can just format the drive by right clicking on the drive in my computer and select Format (FAT32).

If you have a model v1, you will need to format via the Recovery Mode.  Once connected in Recovery Mode, you'll have a 16 MB-FORMAT drive in my computer.  Open it and create a new folder named sansa.fmt in the root directory of the volume 16 MB-FORMAT.  Once you unplug the computer, the reader will see the sansa.fmt folder and start formatting itself.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DIRECTLY FORMAT VOLUME 16 MB-FORMAT!  IT IS VERY BAD KARMA TO TRY TO DO.  YOUR CROPS WILL ALL FAIL IN THE FIELDS AND WILL DRY YOUR PROPERTY!

Note that the format of your player will correct the problem of blocking of data refresh, but it will remove all your multimedia files.  It's a good idea to have a folder on your hard drive containing backups of all your media files.

Once you get the operational return player you must verify that you have the latest firmware for the last versions are more robust with respect to the issue of locking of the refresh database.

    Hello BennyFoo,

Thank you for bringing your iPhone freeze questions here for Apple Support communities. I understand how it is important to have a reliable phone. I'm happy to check this with you.

The first thing we want to make sure that all of your data on your device is safe. You can perform a backup in iCloud or iTunes using this article: backing up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Once your data is safe, try to turn off your device, then again on the March. Sometimes, that's all that is needed for connections reset and everything working properly again. This article help from Apple will help you to do: restart your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. If you are still having issues, try force reset then. It is designed to be used when the iPhone does not respond, and it looks to be the exact symptoms that you are experiencing right now.

If you still experience the same problems after reboot, please try to restore your device from a backup by using this article help: restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from a backup. If you don't have a current backup, please try this help article: If you can not update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Please pay close attention when you get to step 4 who said "when you see the option restore or put to update, choose update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. "to get your iOS reinstalled. Test if the issue is still ongoing.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

  • Pages on issues of formatting to iCloud

    Hey everybody,

I created a document Pages using the Pages application on my macbook pro I downloaded then to iCloud Pages so that I can access it from any computer. The issue I'm having is that I formatted some of the text to have a black background and the text to yellow color. For the life of me I can't understand how to change the background color of text on the Pages of iCloud. I beginning to think that changing the background color of text just is not possible on the platform of iCloud, but wanted to put this out there just to make sure.

I appreciate any help or clarification on this issue.

    Thank you!

Background (highlight) text color controls are absent in the Pages for iCloud, because it is a subset of Pages for Mac.

This has been discussed in a previous post here, not so long ago.
