I'm Rockboxed!

Hello everyone, and I just wanted you to know instead of the e280 8 GB, the salesman had the e250 2 GB of v1 in stock, so I took what I could get at the moment. He hopes to have some refurbed e280 more soon, and of course, I'll get one!

I got the e250 2 GB of v1 in the mail today, and I have now Rockboxed! Rockbox is much more useful that the included SanDisk firmware, it's safe. I now have a 12 or 24-hour format clock, a calculator, stopwatch and even a flashlight that uses the screen to light the way!  There is also a lot of games, but also other applications that I'll have to try it as well.

The only downside? I can't get the themes and fonts, I downloaded to install. I've been playing with it for over 3 hours now, but I'll take a break for a while. I can't make of Magnatune Rockbox install because the themes site is inaccessible at the moment, and it tells me to install manually. When I extracted the files in the folder root of Rockbox, they do not appear in the settings/theme settings/browse themes or settings/settings/browse fonts on the player e250. If anyone has any ideas, I would certainly appreciate it but I don't ask because I was looking and using tips found both here and on Rockbox forums to try to figure out, but does not. I don't think that the themes are broken, but I could be wrong. I installed (I thought) all needed fonts, but they do not seem to appear (unless they are considered as part of the package of fonts to download/install Rockbox original). Others that I am installing came on the themes page Rockbox, which help in case a given theme, I'm using doesn't have the fonts.

Thank you all and I love this player even more now!

PS: Does anyone know how to specify the application of battery bench is? Thank you!

Under the direction of typo.

Thanks tapeworm, you have taught me something new once again. So, just to make sure I've got this clear in my head of thick Mississippi redneck, instead of unzip in folder .rockbox on the drive, just unzip in the drive Windows has assigned to the player, right? And Rockbox puts things in their place?

That is right.

In addition, what can I do to clean theme additional and unnecessary files, that I have now accumulated with my ignorance?

If it were me, I would probably start deleting the folder integer .rockbox and files related to RB since the directory root and then re - install, then themes. Should only take a few minutes, he'll save confusion down the road.

  • Sansa Fuze v1: Rockbox vs original Firmware

ROckbok have the stable version for sansa fuze v1. But I wonder what is the best? ROckbok firmware or the Original sandisk firmware... Any idea? Thans a lot...
    SRY for my bad English!

    Hello

I can't tell you which is better for performance, but if you install rockbox on Sansa Fuze you will lose the warranty on the product and SanDisk will provide you with no warranty or replacement if it brakes or problems arise.

  • Rockbox status anyone?

I bought the Fuze + because I waited for years to get a 50 GB or State more solid with radio and recording.  16 + 32 does really everything for me.  But like many here I am blocked by performance, poor scrolling, etc. by this device. I'm staying current with the firmware, and I find a lot of workarounds.  For example, I take a lot of genres I like to listen to at the same time and their marking in the tag 'artist '.  It allows me to listen to a band of music from the screen of the artist.  The reason why this is so important, it is difficult to get the screen kind because you must go through the screen of the song which is horribly slow on a device with 48 GB of music.

The other big problem is the controls.  It is not that they are too sensitive or a problem with marking all here say.  These controls are excellent with very little media on the device.  The sensitivity is another side effect of the deadlock with a fully charged large collecton problem.  The device is not just time slice well and it does not store its index in any format can be reached quickly.

I have too many other workaround solutions, but the firmware is simply not address the big picture.  Just something so simple as allowing an alphabetical drill down ('A' for artists starting with 'A... "would be a great victory.  I'm not one of those whiners who will return the unit or the bash (although I wish I had read the http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/Fuze/16Gb-Fuze-32Gb-uSDHC-collapses-when-loaded-up/td-p/206180 with the recommendation of Cowon J3 review before buying the Fuze +).  But I did not, I was so focused on getting the "rocket" when he was finally up the ability that I didn't research.  Now I am the owner of the device and I'm retagging all the weeks and it got to a point where I can live with that.

But what makes me mad is that it's all software and there is no reason why it's not big.  I got Rockbox on a very old 40 gig drive hard iRiver before that.  Even if the Rockbox software for iRiver was very primitive and intuitive, I learned it and it was really effective.  It does all the work.  I saw it on an iPod and other modern devices and it's really nice and I think it would be awesome on the rocket.

Then... someone knows if Rockbox for the Fuze + is on the horizon?

    HOW DO?

I did what the manual on their site said.

Download frimware (is this clppa.bin?) original file

    Put it on the player

Sansa updater does nothing.  says "no editable Sansa product is recognized."

Rockbox utility cannot remove it. what I am doing wrong?

You are actually in the Sandisk firmware while you do this? If the player does not find the Sansa updater, that you're always in rockbox. You must run the firmware from sandisk.

  • Just deleted firmware Rockbox and cannot return to a stock [video +]

Hi, I installed Rockbox using the installer provided in THIS link. I didn't like it. Using the same program, I uninstalled it Rockbox folder, but not the bootloader files. Program could not remove this specific device. I then use the auto update-installer provided by SanDisk HERE. I can't tell, revision of which Sansa I have and it cannot be verified because of the message "no files found / plug in USB cable." Automatic update did not work nor for rev 1 or rev 2. Or put the files manually. Can someone help me with this problem?

I've gladly will provide more information, if anyone will need it for debugging more far.

I've tried it. It did not work. He said "file not found".

You must first boot in the SanDisk to by pressing the left button (REW) during startup. Then manually copy a new version of original firmware to the player, related to my previous answer. Unplug the fw will settle and everything should go next.

  • Installed Rockbox... Bad move

    Hi all

Long story short, installed rockbox, was running.  Was not thought out and plugged the USB... the screen went black, rocket seems dead.  Hard reset does not work.  Start on THE does not work either.  BTW, my rocket is a v2.

    Any suggestions?

Well, in all fairness, the V2 port is listed as unstable... it's still a work in progress.

    http://www.Rockbox.org/wiki/SansaAMS#Port_Status

    "" Rockbox is considered to be Stable on Fuze v1/e200v2, unstable on v1, v2, Clip Clip Clip +, v2, v2 C200 rocketand unusable on m200 v4 ""

    Regarding your question, although... http://www.Rockbox.org/wiki/SansaAMS#Specific_problems

" Clip + / Clipv2/Fuzev2: players can hang in a State where a material power power off is not possible." Wait for the battery to carry out full; It may take up to 3 days. See http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=24992.msg168026#msg168026 .

That's the best advice I can offer... saratoga would certainly know more than me if.

  • Rocket SINCE 2008 not good until I discovered Rockbox worm... 22/07/2010

I bought this camera as a Christmas gift to myself in 2009. I listen to audiobooks hobbist groups mainly. My G - 2 Cowan died of a fall and I repaired, but she has no memory for my mp3s studies... Now comes the life with a fuse of sandisk. I lived with the original (original firmware) for six months to worm. 33. the "rocket" is a material model v2. I got pissed and decides to sell the "rocket", as the updates of the firmware does not adjust the power of the material and I was to find out later, it decreased audio quality. I was ready to buy a quality Cowan D2. But I didn't need another battery of poly. We all know that they are the main sucks... in the world. Apple decided to use polybatteries and few readers thought followed mp3 apple acually has no engineering training... bat vs poly replaceable batteries is infinety vs 14 hours.

Before putting the piece of hardware on ebay, I chose to try rockbox... and I always try to pick my jaw off the ground. The sound quality improved 10 times... the original is defective.

My recommendation is if you have one of the machines, it... Rockbox rockbox is very stable and dual boot... it is not the owner of DAP noobie. But it will not brick your hardware.

If you do not have one of these machines, then don't. Instead, buy a digital audio player that has A - b, bookmarking with list, go back to list, no gap play... it's a joke why any DAP today gets what could enjoy with our cd players...

I give sandisk a big help for this forum so I could find a solution to my personal problem istead of buying another machine.

    Thanks scandisk.

funny I looked up my posts previous I have only one... back in November 2009. It was the response to a user of clip that suffered problems I meet me with my Christmas present rocket.

    http://tinyurl.com/25qbh9c

SanDisk has never dealt with audiobook users. Was what it was to spit id3 tags in the main menus...

loureed101 that I but never got a response from scandisk... I did anwser him properly about it several months ago.

  • E280 v1 rockbox issues...

I completed my 8 GB and I'm currently looking to buy a microSD card. I have read forums and discovered that the only size that is really compatible is the 2 GB microSD card, and if I want something bigger (enter the microSDHC cards) that I have to install rockbox.  What is the warranty?  Also, if I install it, can I still switch to regular software?  It will erase my music when I install it?  What I put in a memory card for rockbox working or I can install it until I get my memory card?  On the rockbox site, it seems that all you have to do is download the RockboxUtility and run it, then plug in your player (playing on the MSC mode) and it should fundamentally do the installation for you.  Is this good?  I think now I'm using MTP mode... is that going to cause a problem in my music?

Sorry for all the questions... I don't want to dive in and hit all these problems and do not know what to do.

    Thanks for the help.

What is the warranty? Yes, but given that this model has been discontinued for some time, you are already out of the guarantee in any case window.

Also, if I install it, can I still switch to regular software? Rockbox does not replace the Sansa (original firmware). It is "next", and you can start in either the startup.

It will erase my music when I install it? Nope.

What I put in a memory card for rockbox working or I can install it until I get my memory card? No Yes &.

On the rockbox site, it seems that all you have to do is download the RockboxUtility and run it, then plug in your player (playing on the MSC mode) and it should fundamentally do the installation for you.  Is this good? Yes. Piece of cake.

I think now I'm using MTP mode... is that going to cause a problem in my music? Rockbox must still find and play music already there, but because it works only in MSC mode, I advise to remove all these songs PSG-transfer and re - transfer to the player in MSC mode. An easy way to do this would be to format the drive, which will erase everything in one fell swoop.

Sorry for all the questions... I don't want to dive in and hit all these problems and do not know what to do. Have you read the FAQS on the Rockbox site? Many of these questions are answered, and many others.

    Thanks for the help.

    You are welcome.

  • Sansa Fuze Rockbox. Version question.

Hey guys and girls, I need help desiphering if it is possible to install Rockbox on my Sansa Fuze special. My version is listed in my info like: V01.02.28a

It's an old Sansa, but I've updated fairly regularly. Countless FAQ told me that the Sansa fuze V2 is incompatible with Rockbox. and if I would try to apply it on the wrong version, I want to brick my machine. But as says the version, version 01.Intro, so I ask someone here who has more experience with this sort of thing to help me.

    Thank you.

  • two questions about Rockbox

Hi all...        I installed Rockbox on my v1 rocket, but there are two strange things going on: first, when I jump to the next song or previous Rockbox takes about 2 seconds to change... Is this normal? In fact, since I installed it, when I plug in the player to the pc, it is not recognized by the pc as a USB 2.0... Better, I put it into a 2.0 port, where usb tools operate at 2.0 speed, but XP starts the message "it might work faster etc etc..." Solutions or ideas? Thank you

Where do you read the numbers? Did you put the files in a playlist? Using the file browser or the database?

If you use the file browser, on your rocket and your microsd card files are in different folders. Are your songs on internal and external memory?

If you use the database, perhaps it was not completed. Look in the settings-> General settings-> database and check the automatic update and initialize now.

It would take one or two minutes.

  • More great SD card on e260 if using Rockbox?

I really like Rockbox on my Sansa e260.  Under the Sansa firmware, I know that I am limited to a 2GB chip.  What with the Rockbox firmware?  Thank you.

As far as I saw, any size MicroSDHC can be used.

SD and SDHC are the same size, just different formats inside.

In theory, any size SDHC should work - 16GB is the largest available (for now.)

And I recommend to buy a cheap to begin with and see if you really, as the "quirks" to use, before getting an expensive.

  • Problem Sansa clip + Rockbox: does not

Hi guys, I hope you can help me, I have a big problem I'm not English, so I hope to be understandable.

I have connected my rockboxed clip + to my pc (windows xp) in mode MSC, take the scrobblerlog.txt file and change the music. Done, I have disconnected with the secure delete option and it is not updated in database or turn off, this isn't anything. I tried to plug and unplug the unit, tried to push the reset button, but it's completely frozen, State of the connection. What happened, and what can I do to fix this? Please, help me...

Then it crashed somewhere in the Sandisk firmware?  If you just power for 30 seconds, it must restart.

"Looks" are the only resemblance. Inside, they are as different as the night & day. I've not heard of the any of these people of Rockbox considering a port to the view. They got enough on their plate as it is.
