EA3500 - access guest network

Help! Took me 10 years to get another router wireless home, because last time, it was fixed and people were practically parking in my driveway to use. In any case, I have a network of comments - without warranty. How the hell change it secure, or eliminate all guest network together?

Great Jake. Thanks for the help!

Someone knows how to set the Web page that appears when you access the network of comments? I use the WNR2020 router. Thank you very much.

It can be done by using a different material.

Above all, you will be able to find this feature in our product business and it's called the HTTP redirect.

You can check some Points of access such as WAC720, WAC730.

  • How is "Guest network" differs from the main network?

I just purchased and installed a refurbished Airport Express. Everything works fine. In the installation program, it gave me the opportunity to create a network of comments, which I did and it works. My question: How is this different guest network from my main network?

"Guests" that connect to the network comments can only access the Internet.  They cannot "see" devices on your main or private network.

So if you want to not "invited" to see your personal devices and possibly see your private data on your computer or computers on your private network... or... you don't want to give "guest" password to your network private... it makes sense to leave the 'invited' to use the guest network.

  • MAC filtering with guest network

Hello, I have E4200v2 of Cisco, and after someone hacked password of my router, I was forced to activate a white list of MAC filtering. Problem is that I also like to activate a network of comments so my small business clients could still connect to the wifi, without acceding to out to home PC (and drink our bandwidth).

    Is this possible? Thank you.

    1. make sure that disable WPS.

2 change the router password on the Administration page to guarantee something.

3 make sure to disable remote management.

    4. set WPA2 Personal with a new strong password.

    5 disable the feedback network.

That will protect your network. Piracy is not possible unless someone passes the WPA2 password or have access to the router and ethernet ports.

The MAC filter won't help you. MAC addresses are transferred, are easily picked up and not cloned.

If you want to activate the guest network you must accept the fact that other computers connect to your guest network and try to access the internet from there. They manage unless they know the password, but still, they can connect to the guest network because it is not protected. Only access from the network invited to the internet is protected.

He must also accept the fact that you can "drink your bandwidth. If you do not like who don't offer guest access.

  • Guest network: ESET detects open network

A parent has an EA6400. It has established its guest access. A guest the latter using an Android with ESET security phone received the following message:

    Security risk

    Connected to 'XXPrivateXX-comments '.

    Open network

    ESET recommends:

Connecting to public Wi - Fi networks without encryption, your data can be easily captured by the eavesdroppers. Watch by accessing or submitting sensitive information over public networks without encryption application.

Its 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz both have security mode WPA2-Personal. The router is password protected.

Why the Android with ESET phone give the message in bold above? And what can we do?

Hi, KStecyk. The guest network on the router Linksys EA6400 seems to be an open network, it doesn't have a lock on it, and he just allows you to connect automatically. However, once you connect to your phone's browser, it will ask you to type the password for comments before connect you to the internet. So it is always a secure network. • Problem guest network

I've recently reconfigured my network as follows:

Modem > router Netgear FVS318G > two airports in mode bridged (by Ethernet cable) another joined the network for AirPlay.

The guest network problems DHCP configuration. My first thought was to turn it off. However, when I turn off the toggle, the network remains around. Ideally, I would like to configure a VLAN 2 so that the client's network could still be used (primary wifi I want on the VLAN 1) but if this cannot be done, so how can I turn off the radio comments!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The airport network comments feature will not work properly unless your router 'first' AirPort is set up for DHCP and NAT.  The comments feature does not work when the first or main airport is configured in Bridge Mode.

Once the 'main' airport set up to do DHCP and NAT, then it is possible to build another airport 'downstream' of the first and extend the functionality of comments like that.

If your two airports must remain in Bridge Mode... (they will probably stay in bridge, since you already have another router upstream, and you probably don't want to mess with the complications of a NAT Double error on the network), then you can disable comments on the routers of the airport.

'How' you do this depends on the version of AirPort utility that you use to administer airports.  Please open AirPort Utility, click on the menu of AirPort Utility in the upper left of the screen, and then click the AirPort Utility.  After back with the version number that you see here.  Example is below:

  • Must be able to access the network WPA PSK

    Hello

I just got my laptop Satellite Pro L300. I have a sky broadband wireless router in my house and it works with my computer and my laptop roommates but not with the Satellite Pro.

Phone heaven Support and they told me to tell you that my laptop is not recognising non secure networks and I should be able to access the network WPA PSK.
    What should I do?

    Kind regards

    >.. .but not with the Satellite Pro.
    Does that mean exactly?
You see that this guaranteed WLAN?
Can you put WPA password to have full access or what?
    What exactly happens?

  • Why can't I configure guest network?

TV, telephone and Internet are brought home through fiber TDS and distributed to households through ethernet.

Actiontec modem/router (Model T 2200 H of TDS), is connected via LAN to my Airport Extreme (model HE ME918 / bought 08/09/15), and the primary network works fine.

Recently, I tried to set up a network of comments and set up a name and a password. iPad, laptop or phone unable to connect to the Guest network.

I have not noticed any IP address, subnet mask, router, DNS and search domains in the boxes associated with the network of comments.

Is the router "does not fully with Airport Extreme" or something else.

TDS is very focused on the PC and I found even any reference in section helps the router that they issued me so I'm not very confident that they will be a lot of help.

Thank you in advance for any help posted here.

Why can not put in place a network of comments?

You have an Actiontec modem/router...and that you need a simple modem... If you want the function of feedback network works on the AirPort Extreme.

When AirPort Extreme "sees" another router on the network, it is configured in Bridge Mode in order to avoid a situation where you have two routers on the same network, the two try to act as routers. That will produce any IP address conflicts and another called problem Double NAT... you do not want on your network.

Unfortunately, the AirPort Extreme network comments feature won't work correctly when the AirPort Extreme in Bridge Mode.

If Actiontec modem/router can be configured to operate as a simple modem.. .not one router... so the network comments feature will work correctly on the AirPort Extreme. Check with your provider to see if this could be a possibility.

It used to work yesterday but idon't know why not today

So, you have problems writing to a published network shared Variable? You might be able to solve this by using the software manager system OR distributed. By using this software, you should be able to see all the network published static Variables that are hosted on this computer and all other computers on the network. You can try to modify these variables using this software. If you have the same problems with the variables shared by using this software, then this probably means that there are problems with the network in general as a firewall blocking the communication.

You can check if you have this by navigating to start > all programs > National Instruments > Distributed System Manager. If you do not already have it, you can download it here: http://www.ni.com/download/ni-distributed-system-manager-2013/4216/en/.

    Hi gauravadavadkar,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Communities. Provide the following information:

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         What is the full error message?

    ·         Work on a domain?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode with networkand check if the problem persists.

S tep 2: if the problem does not persist in safe mode with networking, perform a clean bootto see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state section of the article to start the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

  • Error 1606: 'could not access location network & AppData%.

Please help with Error 1606, "could not access location network & APPDATA%\.»  Can someone please provide a fix?

This problem occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows. When Windows Installer goes to the sale of Shell folder of the user who is logged on to the computer, Windows Installer cannot locate the correct entry. The solution is inhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549.

The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry.  Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk. I suggest that you first back up your registry as follows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry.

Here are the steps to fix it.

    1. click on start, run, typeregedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

    2. look for the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\

3 remove the entries that show the path that is listed in the error message.

886549 KBhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549: Regedit open again. In the left pane, click User Shell Folders, point tonew, click expandable string value, type the value name that you want to restore (AppData) and then press ENTER. Right click on this value, clickchange, type the value in the value data for the value name box, and then clickOK. The value data must be: % USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming.

Step 8 KB 886549 suggests that you also check the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. However, by fixing my problem, I had not to change values in the registry key. If this does not work, follow ALL the steps in the referenced article.

  • Windows XP sp3 can not access the network shares on vista after installing sp2

I have a xp sp3 computer and another currently running vista Home premium sp2. Previously, I was able to access the network share on the xp computer before vista computer I installed sp1. Both computers were able to ping between them without problem.

I've upgraded to sp2 because I had problems with windows media center, missing records. Upgrade of these issues fixed, but this means that roll back to sp1 is not an option for me to get operational network.

Please do not post a standard answer on the network configuration. I am familiar with the standards requirements to share files between xp and vista and everything is set up correctly.  Like I said everything was working fine before the installation of sp2.

If it is a known problem that is still not resolved, I'd appreciate knowing that information as well.

Edit: Firewall been disabled during my troubleshooting

After more work, I was able to solve my problem.  Update zone alarm solved my problem and helped my windows xp machine to access my Vista network shares.  As I pointed out in the original post, zone alarm firewall has been disabled during my troubleshooting.  Apparently, when disabled, the old version of zone alarm has always been the origin of the problem.

  • Cannot access the network without password drives?

I had a failure of hard drive on my laptop and I can't access my network of resources to work after installing the new drive.  A dialog box opens for a username and password when I try to map a network drive.  No other computer in fact.  Vista is the problem, but what is the solution?

You must create an identical user account and password on your Vista machine that corresponds to the remote computer. The error you get indicates that you did not do this. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
