Edge of Windows 8 e520 WiFi grey

Hello!

I installed Windows 8 fees on my edge yesterday and apparently I forgot to activate the WiFi card before installation. Before I was running on Windows 7 pro. The two systems are 64-bit.
Despite me install the drivers appropriate and everything, the WiFi option is grayed out and the diagnostic tool reports the unit out of service.

usual shortcut, I used in Windows 7 refuses to work and simply active / disable airplane mode instead of let me pick which card I want to turn on or off.
Anyone have an idea how I can turn on the adapter without installing Windows 7?

EDIT: Checked with a live recording of Ubuntu and WIFI, the module is disabled by a hardware switch. How can I turn that one more time? The bios indicates it is turned on.

See you soon!

This bumping in case someone runs into the issue...
So I made an update of the BIOS (it does not show for just Windows 8 but the readme says it's for Windows 8, too) I had to run the utility of flashing in in any case compatibility mode and run as admin lenovo part...

Then I restarted and it still does not - I have reset the BIOS settings and still no change.

Later I tried the trick of "meh": I stop Win8, out the battery and unplug the power supply. Then, I held the power button for a minute pertussis. The next time you start, I was able to flick the switch WIFI.

Just as put a broken backwards HARD drive can operate enough for a backup on this stupid thing saved a Win7 install another drive HARD just to get on WIFI.

Have been able to fix it by uninstalling the driver wireless and re - install, but when the system is restarted it then returns to the same problem.  Tried to remove the data of the registry key 'TrayNotify' windows and stopping the same tried to remove "explorer.exe" and replace "explorer.exe".. even goes back to the same problem.

It is likely that your computer sees and is seen by your router.  Gold Star means that it is connected, but the router will not assign an IP address to access the Internet.

This is usually caused by a code password incorrectly stored (on your computer).

Click on this icon.  Find your network.  Remove it from the list.  Now, after a small wait, click this icon again.  It should detect your network and ask for the password.  If you have entered the right code, it should connect you.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, then it is likely that you would have a problem with your router - it might be inside a separate device or your modem.

A restart of the modem and router can help.  Pull the plug on the modem and the router.  Wait 30 seconds.  Put the plug in the modem only.  Wait 30 seconds.  Put the plug in the router.  Wait 2 minutes.  If she can still connect, try re-booting the computer.

  • Connection of the user before Windows 8 PRO WiFi connection

Windows 8 Pro, WiFi doesn't connect before a user connects.  I manage all the remote PC and restart them remotely via remote desktop.  In Windows 7, we had only to ensure that the availability of the wireless profile has been created for all USERS.  In Windows 8 PRO, even if I have my profile wireless for all users it does not.  If I try to connect with Remote Desktop, and a user is not already connected, the wireless connection is turned off.  If I connect remotely to a user, the WiFi off as well.  It is a major issue.  Is there a difficulty, a configuration change to enable the WiFi for the value IT if no user is logged on?  I'm about to go back to Windows 7 PRO.  Windows 8 is great, but I'm so again, I don't want to think about.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you, KG

Thanks PBWS.  In fact, I solved the problem.  The problem was caused by the WiFi I was using either WPA2 Enterprise encryption.  As soon as I changed my personal WPA2 worked well all.    Under Windows 7 PRO, it wasn't a problem.

    Thanks in any case.

  • Computer portable NB305 - Windows 8 pro - WIFI not working not

    Hello everyone,

I have a Toshiba NB305-105 netbook with windows 7 and 2 GB Ram... I bought windows 8 pro update and I installed it.

After the proper installation, I installed all the drivers toshiba Win 7 32 bit.
Well, after that, no hardware problem, but the (Fn + F8) wifi button is not working and I can not turn on wifi... !!
If anyone knows how to solve this problem... Please...

PS: I installed the value pack (vap...) but nothing...

    Help me...!!
    Thank you

    > but wifi (Fn + F8) button does not work and I can't turn on the wifi... !!
    > If anyone knows how to solve this problem... Please...

To activate the WLan under Win 8, you n t need to use the Fn keys
You can directly activate the WLan in Win 8 parameters.

Place the mouse on the top right
Charm bar would slip on. Choose the settings here
Now in the charming bar choose change PC settings
In the PC settings select Wireless.
Now in the wireless area, drag the slider of WiFi on / off to on position.

  • HP ProBook 4530 s: HP ProBook 4530 s 10 Windows upgrade without WiFi (Atheros AR 9285)

Last day to update... so time to go. But after launch update process I get an error message on the WiFi card not supported. Can I remove the WiFi card, install Win 10 and maybe later buy card WiFi support for this model?

    Hello:

You should be able to... Just make sure that connect you cable ethernet so W10 is activated before the deadline.

I recommend that you get the Intel Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 wireless network card... HP 636672-001 part number, in Chapter 3, page 25 of the maintenance manual.  It is the only card I see on the list that should work on W10.

NOTE: You MUST get this specific map and it MUST have the part number HP on it or it won't work.

Usually, I'll question asked by HP part number on eBay, and buy a card which shows the part number in the photograph of eBay listing.

But an easier thing to do would be to make the W10, installation DVD using the tool of creation of media on the link below, run the upgrade from the windows desktop, select do not automatically check updates and W10 ignores any material control install card atheros in place.

    https://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/Windows10

I doubt that the atheros card works after W10 is installed, but you shouldn't remove it just to install W10.

There is a W10 driver for this card but I find the hardware version of the card that your laptop is too old to work with the driver.

This package contains the installation package driver for the controller wireless LAN Qualcomm Atheros AR9000-series in the supported models and operating systems.

Have you checked if the WLan switch on the side of the laptop is on? This switch activates and deactivates the WLan led. If this is not enough, I guess that there is a hardware problem. Perhaps some loose contacts, for example.
This can be corrected with any software update, I think that the technician should take a look in the notebook and should check this

    _*@chris4o*_
First of all it s very strange that your laptop has not delivered with any Windows operating system! Each new Toshiba notebook was shipped with the Windows operating system and the image of Toshiba should be already preinstalled.
In addition, you should find the Toshiba Recovery CD in the package. This CD contains all the drivers Toshiba, tools, Windows OS and additional software!

    With regard to the pixel dead;
Usually the internal laptop display can be replaced if a large amount of dead pixels would be displayed on the screen. There is an exactly information about replacing the screen.

    Please check this:

In any case, I recommend you really clarify this two issues from your laptop dealer! The laptop must have the OS!
