EliteBook 8440p Fingerprint Reader

I don't see a Discussion forum for top of Tower, so if I need to post elsewhere, please tell me where to find the good advice.

I recently installed a new hard drive and reinstalled Win7 Professional. I can't understand how to turn on and reprogram my fingerprint reader. I am sure that the driver is installed. Can someone, please? Thank you

Hello:

You can find the computer forum laptop elitebook the link below.  It is located under the heading Moblie.

Now to your question... in addition to install the fingerprint reader driver, you must also install the Manager software security tools to protect in order to register your fingerprint.

I see not the parameters to configure the fingerprint reader within the parameters of the Simple HP switch from Windows. I also tried to change the settings in the registry to allow biometrics. You should be able to register your fingerprint using the latest security HP Client Manager software.

Simplepass uninstall and restart the computer before installing the software MSC.

Has had a catastrophic disk failure. Installed the new drive and Win 7 SP1. Having trouble getting everything to work. Is there a driver, bundle, utility, available for this computer now? I tried protect Tools Security Manager, would not move due to incompatibility of the material, there must be 50 versions of this Suite, I used that to Win 7 64 bit, sp62498. Hello:

I normally don't try to find better drivers that the windows update installs unless you install the driver that windows update works not just for some reason any.

If you live in the USA/Canada, just call HP at this number... 1-800-334-5144 and command of a set of recovery disks.

Have the serial number of the workstation mobile handy to give to the customer service rep.

  • EliteBook 840 G1: Validity Sensor fingerprint reader is not listed in biometric devices

I received an Elitebook 840 G1, tried to turn on the fingerprint reader, but it was not acknowledged.
Control Panel/biometrics devices, there is no device, although the "Validity Sensor" Device Manager is listed, the pilot seems too. I installed HP ProtectTools Security Manager, where I can find the footprints of the option, but to logon Windows is always Username/Password the only option to log on the system.
Check the BIOS, fingerprint logon is enabled. Tried to uninstall Validity Sensor and then reinstall it, didn't work.

    OS: Win7 (x 64)

    Thank you in advance!

    See you soon,.

In the meantime, I found the solution:

I've updated HP Client (sp63509) Security Manager, opened the program, registered my fingerprints and checked 'Windows logon security' at home/Advanced Settings / Security Features.

It finally works, I can not connect with my fingerprints.
(Again, under control panel / biometric devices there is no item listed)

    See you soon,.

  • EliteBook 8460p: using the fingerprint reader to log on Windows 10.

I recently picked up this 2nd hand computer laptop for use at home. I was happy to find that it has built in fingerprint reader that will keep my children on my account. This is recognised by Windows 10 on the device as a biometric device manager / Validity Sensor. However, I have no options to activate Windows Hello on my account and found nothing on the Windows support on with Microsoft to respond to my problem. The supplied fingerprint reader will get an updated driver that gets 10 Windows to recognize as supported by Windows Hello? Is it already work? Do I need additional software that the laptop was bought only with its OEM Windows 7 Pro OS installed and nothing else. Any help would be appreciated.

  • EliteBook 8440p: supports the elitebook 8440p

OK so we (my father and me & anyone else) are repairing an Elitebook 8440p for my father and I wonder even if the elitebook 8440p does not support windows 10 - it does support windows 8/8.1?

I ask only because my father gave me 2 licenses and I was wondering if the elitebook 8440p support windows 8/8.1 cause then I can give 1 license while my lenovo has another

-cause the way that I see - if it does not support windows 10 then at least it would support windows 8 or 8.1 lowest

so the question - it's officially support or is there a list of the devices supported for windows 8/8.1?

    Hello:

All I can tell you is that there is no official support from the W10 by HP drivers for the 8440p.

I have the model that preceded the 8440p (the 6930p) and it works fine W10.

Mine doesn't have a webcam, and I do not like the fingerprint reader security features, so I can't report on these devices.

All the drivers are installed but in Device Manager, and I used the drivers for W7 for everything what has not installed W10, such as the card reader and HP 3D driveguard.

  • EliteBook 8440p: problems of Expansion RAM HP 8440p

I recently decided to upgrade the memory on my EliteBook 8440p. After reading the form of RAM required, I bought one of these: http://www.ebuyer.com/737970-kingston-4gb-1333mhz-204-pin-cl9-ddr3-sodimm-non-ecc-unbuffered-1-5v-me...

Once the new RAM is installed in the expansion slot, Windows will not start and crashes just on screen "starting Windows." Then I tried a test of memory using the system BIOS diagnostic tool, but the laptop either hangs around 35% (I left it there for about two hours), restarts, or stops altogether. I thought that I would give to the system try, repair tool but which caused also just the laptop restart. Curiously, when I check the "System information" tab the system diagnostics, the two RAM sticks are detected with current and accurate information.

I contacted eBuyer, they sent a replacement out there, but I'm having the same problem again. So, I thought I would try to install new RAM in the internal slot instead (under the keyboard), but now I have a BSOD during the 'Starting Windows' screen, give me code error, "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

I read on some forums tech upward. One of them suggested runs what is called 'Memtest' at startup via the CD, I tried, but the laptop restarts only during the first passage of the test of memory (and of course some loops over and over again until I remove the CD).

I'm starting to lose hope! Any help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello:

See this related post.  You must use a very specific memory in this model, or it won't work.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware-and-upgrade-questions/RAM-memory-modules-that-actually-work-for-HP-EliteBook-8440p/m-p/5570634/highlight/true#M335108

  • HP EliteBook 8440p: memory modules RAM that actually work for HP EliteBook 8440p?

Hi everyone again. I scoured these forums and others and can't find a definitive answer to the upgrade of my RAM memory.

    My system:

    HP EliteBook 8440p

    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 M640

    Professional Win7 64 bit

    133 MHz bus clock

    BIOS: HP 68ccu, worm. F.11 (2010)

    Dual core, hyper-threaded (4)

    (?) Mobile Intel QM57 chipset

According to Belarc Advisor, I currently have a 4MB of RAM Samsung under the keyboard module. The second location is empty.  First of all, more memory RAM is not sold in the UK? I know that the computer is capable of 8 GB and the Kingston modules, I just tried to install were 4GB each.  Sticks of Kingston are 8 GB (2 x 4), PC3-10600, CL9, 1.5V, 204 pins SODIMM modules and they do NOT work on this laptop even if they should.

Has anyone found the secret of exactly which modules memory will work with this specific model of laptop? It is issues of density? Problems of tension? Am I missing a driver. I have to sing the thing while I install memory?

Seriously, any help at all will be appreciated.

    Hello:

Please read this thread, and I posted the memory you need to NewEgg if you live in the USA/Canada.

You have need of this driver for the... base system device is for the reader who is not related to the Wireless does not.

  • Maximum supported size of HARD drive for HP Elitebook 8440p Windows 7 Pro 64 bit runing

Hello, I just bought a HP Elitebook 8440p "off lease" of Tigerdirect and seeks to upgrade the two memory (from 4 GB to 8 GB) and put in the eligible of the biggest HARD drive I can. Either a 512 GB SSD or a 1 TB WD hybrid WD BLACK2 (1 TB HDD / 120 GB SSD Combo drive in a single package!). I would like to see more large disk addressable by using Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS since I don't seem able to find this info on the web. HP offers only only a 256 GB SSD in its specifications. but I didn't know if it was do limitations of BIOS or availability at the time of production, even for the HARD drive to 512 GB.

Also, I would like to know if 9.5 mm compliant Bay that it needs to be for the WD drive. Can't find that either, and while the new laptop has not yet happen, all measure exactly the same way regarding what works and what simply cannot be "cheated".

Thank you for taking the time to read this and NO information to that effect would be Greatl appreciated!

Essentially the reason why you do not have a maximum size of hard drive is because there is not everything. Between SATA and 64-bit OS', worrying about maximum size of hard drive is a thing of the past. Are the biggest readers found in the manual, as you suspected him, just a function of the market at the time of manufacture. It was a few years ago now, it is so understandable that the offerings were "at the time" more thin than now.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Page 4-9 shows the procedure of the Bay and the replacement of the hard disk. The Bay is made for a 9.5 mm thickness 2.5-inch wide SATA hard but the new 7 mm readers also works. The black hybrid drive requires some software (included in the package) to treat the two drives in Windows and I read a modest amount of disappointment in the documentation about them. If you can afford the 512 GB SSD go in this direction and you will not be sorry. I use a Samsung 840 Evo and it has worked perfectly for me for almost 2 years and the most recent 850 I hear is even better.

  • New fingerprint reader of laptop not detected

    Hello

I just got an Elitebook 1040 G1 running win7 64 bit and have been installing all the necessary things I'll need for daily use. Out of curiosity I tried to get the reader of fingerprints, put up just to have as an option if I wanted to. After installing digital persona and the pilot of validity many times to try to resolve this, my laptop still does not recognize the fingerprint reader.

    Action taken:

    • Uninstalled and reinstalled several times valid drivers
    • Uninstalled and reinstalled digital persona(plus updates)
    • Checked to see if biometrics are in Device Manager and recognized by the machine; which they are

Any ideas what might solve this problem?

  • HP Elitebook 8440p WWindows7

Hi I have a question, got this laptop (HP Elitebook 8440p) last month it came with 320 GB HD, 3 GB of RAM and Windows 7 Pro 32 bit installed (I also drive original windows 7 32 bit Pro that comes with it). Now, I intend to upgrade the RAM 8 GB, replace with a 128 GB Samsung SSD HD and install Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

My question is can I use the product key on the underside of the laptop for the installation of 64-bit?

I phoned and asked HP, but I was told that it is not possible that the below key is useless without the original hp windows disc 7 with that he came.

    Hello:

    This is not true.

But why not order a set of recovery disc from HP for $10? Then you don't need the product key.

Tell them you want the floppy drive of W7 Pro 64 bit recovery game. That's what I did with my HP 6930p.

Mine came with 32 bit also and I wanted maximum memory of 8 GB, but only had a 32-bit recovery DVDs.

    Call HP at 1-800-334-5144.

Only, you must also provide the serial number of your PC.

If you don't want to spend $10, then everything just this...

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Where are the memory slots on the HP Elitebook 8440p?

Hello, I have a HP EliteBook 8440p, with serial number: {deleted personal information} and the product number: SK119UC #ABA

I have 2 memory slots. 2x2gb for a total of 4 GB of system memory. I found one of the memory slots on the bottom of the laptop (there was a small picture of a ramstick). I would like to find another, but I don't know where he is, so I ask help on localization. It is the laptop that I have, I believe. http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/document.jsp?objectID=c02030597&prodSeriesId=409587...

And so the max RAM I can reach is 8GB and I would like to replace the current ramsticks with a 2 x 4 GB for a total of 8GB.

    Please and thank you!

    Hello:
