Equium A60 keeps restarting

I Equium A60 and it prevents the restart.
Turn on and get a blue screen with an error message, but nothing on the microsoft Web site.

The CD of restoration I tried and keeps saying no device found on cd apti device startup. Changed ROM of dvd to a well-known work, and still the same.

I know that it is not the disk hard drive that I took this and tried in another machine and it starts ok. I get startup toshiba logo and then request a password that I never used a so I have to hold the space bar to this make me past and then it keeps option safe mode, last known configure ration command/mode secure promp and so on.

It does not matter what I choose, it is up to the same screen or if I chose to stop automatic reboot, then it stops on the blue screen.

Cannot access the dvd rom drive cannot use the recovery disc.

Hello

Well, it of a very sad and to be honest a strange story.
First it s very strange a window (maybe a HDD password) appears and asks you the password.
Second, a BSOD appears. This BSOD is mainly the problem of equipment.

But as you know, it s is not easy to say what's wrong exactly with no detailed Diagnostics.
So what to do?  :|

I think you ve got a great choice. I recommend you contact the ASP in your country for a control of the laptop.

Best regards and good luck buddy

I have installed the Toshiba ATI graphic driver, but when I restart the laptop, it does not start, keeps restarting before surposed to go on windows XP. Help, please.

    Hello

Try please solve it as described on this Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=293078

Generally, the display driver installation should help. As you know sometimes it is not easy to fix this kind of problem and sometimes is much better recovery procedure.

You can not write about any common problem if you n t know exactly why this happens. If you are recovering the unit it will be working well. A negative influence on the graphic can have some games preinstalled or many other additional software.

More annoying, the only thing I can do is hold the power button to turn off & on again. Is there a key combination should I put pressure to bring its edge form after you have closed the lid, or is it a fault?

    Thank you

Usually when the size of the memory changes, the system can recover.

Remove the battery and the AC adapter / CC, and then remove one of the memory Modules and power on.

  • Equium A60 - question AC adapters

    Hi all

My Equium A60 keep blowing the power supply.
He blew 4 far - 2 were cheap garbage but 2 have been marked should be reliable.

I recently upgraded to 1.25 GB ram and improved the 60 GB to 80 GB HD and it was overheating and cutting.

Would this put the laptop to blow the adapter?

    Geoff

    Hello

This model of laptop is quite old and who knows in what conditions the material. Have you ever cleaned?

Upgrade should not have a negative influence. Overheating means the laptop cannot be cooled properly. In most cases the cooling rack and cooling vents are blocked by dust.
So I'm afraid it's time for professional cleaning.

Adapters I can't say much but be careful about this. Don t do some experiments. Protect yourself and protect the area where you use Notepad. the best way to do it is to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer. they should check the laptop to see what's wrong here.

  • Equium A60 does not restart

    Hello

My Equium A60 which I had since almost two years earlier this week crashed and does not restart. I met previous problems of slowness and the computer laptop closing (which I believe was down to heat), but it's much more serious.

All that happens when I pass on is a black screen is displayed, as if the monitor does not work, and then after a few minutes it turns off, there is nothing really to go. Is there anyway I can record what's on my hard drive or who lost? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

You can try to connect the HARD drive to another laptop or desktop as an external device using the USB HDD box. The disc HARD should be recognized automatically and you can copy all of your files.

Of course, this is possible if the HARD drive is not defective. I did several times with my old Satellite 1900 HDD. No problem at all.

On your device, I can tell you just follow: after pressing the power button / stop if there is no activity (HDD led, display, the cooling fan noise) I guess the unit must be controlled by the service.

  • My Equium A60 not startup after Windows update

    Hello.
I have an Equium A60 (PSA67E) about 1 years. There has been many problems with this one recently. First, there was the problem of overheating. The machine would heat up and stops by itself without any warning. I tried many options by keeping the cooling ports clear but dint help not at all.

I've recently updated my bios version 1.90 such suggested by Toshiba. I always see overheating so far after the bios update.

The most annoying is the display driver which is in this case a lack of mobility radeon ATI 7000. This would cause the display to become oversized and the resolution is very low. It would go without saying when I restart the machine.

Last month, I reformatted the machine using the Toshiba Recovery CD. Everything went well until I am passed on the automatic update of windows. The first update coming, and I install and reboot the machine to let it function. He's fine. Comes the second update is installed and I have proceed to restart to allow functional upgrades, it does not start. The machine keeps starting over and over again without loading the OS. The screen is the typical Toshiba boot screen with the yellow light (charger) on the screen and after some time a blue screen is delivered for a short time (I am unable to read this error message it is said) and the machine starts start again. What can be the problem?

I need to install windows XP SP2, and for this I need to go through the Windows Update. What can be the remedy and on the update of the available display driver. I tried, but it makes the situation worse.
I used the recovery CD at least 20 times that there is no alternative. I tried to start in safe mode but din't work.

    Hi, Germain,.

According to your description of the problem it doesn't seem to be anything wrong with what you have done so far, but I just want to clarify a few points.

    1. After installing the recovery CD system you install/activate your anti-virus software?

    2. are you using Windows Update in automatic mode or you manually select the update process?

I recommend you to turn off automatic error (Advanced tab in system properties) reboot so the system will not attempt to restart when you get your blue error screen. This will allow you to see what error.

    Kind regards

    Hello

Unless you are an experienced user, you should allow Windows to manage this setting for you. Your problem may occur if the default settings have been changed somehow. First to diagnose your problem, you must follow these steps to ensure that Windows runs properly your virtual memory settings.

    1. find out how virtual memory is managed. Right click on 'My Computer' and choose 'properties '. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Performance click settings.
    2. which opens your performance Options. Click the Advanced tab. For private users 'typical' Processor Scheduling & Memory use must be set to "programs".
    3. under virtual memory, click change.
    4. which opens the virtual memory options. If you have more than one hard drive, make sure that your primary hard drive is selected under "Drive".
    5. under "Paging File Size for selected device" check the box indicating the size of the managed system.
    6. click OK in all the 3 boxes to close off these settings and restart your computer

  • Equium A60-191: number of Modem - only an analog phone lines are supported

My Equium A60 has been turned on when lightning struck nearby and caused the power supply turn off and turn back on.

The OS is XP Home and my ISP is AOL. When I try to access the Net with DUN, I get the repeated error message:

"Connected phone line is not compatible with this modem. Only analog phone lines are supported. »

My desktop computer, which also uses AOL, always connects to the same phone line with no problems.

I restarted the A60 several times; changed and I tried the 2 phone connection cables - both work; the phone line works very well; I reinstalled the driver provided on this site; removed the tick from the box that says to wait for the telephone line; verified that the modem is working and on the Device Manager list. All this is in vain.

Convenience store suggests that COM 3 is not enabled. I don't see that com 3 listed in the device under Ports Manager.

I tried Google and ASK with the error message. There is not a lot of posts, and it seems that the Toshiba modem is actually an Agere. This fact seems to be the object of some of the complaints.

Finally, I uninstalled the driver/modem, AOL and another DUN connection. I restarted and went through the process of installing AOL and "new hardware". While the modem is on and allegedly working... I am still unable to connect to the Net. I reinstalled an additional 'pay as you go' ISP. When I try to dial a number on which it generates error 680. It does this even when the box is unchecked, to wait for a dial tone.

I would be very grateful if someone could help it. I'm out of ideas.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

You are right, the modem supports the Modem Agere chip.
You won't find the COM3 in the Device Manager for the modem uses a non-real com port. It s virtual com port.

I think you should start the diagnostic tool test and check if the Modem has no malfunction.
Additional you must remove the connection in the region Select utility and after restarting again create a new.

I also found useful Microsoft article on troubleshooting network and dial-up connections.

  • Equium A60-199 randomly shutting down - could it be overheating issue

Hi, I am writing on behalf of a friend who knows his laptop A60 closing unexpectedlly... (she says that he stopped after a few minutes, or when she tried to open Firefox)

    Details of system
Toshiba Equium A60-199 Model No.: PSA67E-00J00C8J
    18 GB free & 19 GB used
    512 MB OF RAM
    CPU Celeron 2.93GH

    Running Windows XP Home
    NIS 2006

I took a look at distance and was about 30 minutes without any problem using FF logmeinitreach... There was nothing showing in the event log manager, for the time of day, that it would close down all before... so I was wondering if it is a faulty power supply?

Everythng is going on well just clicked on the analysis of complete system of Norton Internet security which has not been run in a long time and the PC, stop NOW, it will not restart everything. ??

Apparently she can hear some buzzing but nothing happens... (which I think might well be the blow fan)

Advised her to let a little and about 2 hours later, she was able to turn it back on... I wonder if it could be overheating. ??

Apparently he is 3/4 months than what was going on then ceased to happen and started again...

Please can you give me some advice on how to clean it - other than to take it to a hardware shop

I downloaded the A60 user manual and have themselves asked to confirm what show the lights - in an attempt to check overheating
    is the question...

I've also read online "you can spray compressed air into the gills of admission but not airflow vents to help get rid of the dust and debris." I have looked at the manual and can see 2 lots of mouths... It is on the side and the other on the bottom, is e eintake the one on the side? I literally direct the air on side air intakes and the spray?

When you ask him if she knows that when the fan is always, sometimes on, never an etc. she was thinking ot is ALWAYS on... who'd show up again overheating...

    Please notify

    Hello Cathy

I also believe that the sudden stops are the result of overheating. If the dust is blocking cooling air flow grill is blocked and material can reach the critical temperature of material very fast. Sometimes you can start any application pre-installed, the CPU usage goes to the next level and laptop will suddenly stop.

The laptop should be cleaned as soon as possible. If you have no experience with the disassembly procedure I recommend you contact the closest service and the laptop must be cleaned on professional way. It costs a little bit, but you can be sure that you use Notepad for a longer period of time.

If you need the addresses and phone numbers to contact the ASP (authorized service provider) please visit http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Equium A60-692: sudden failure

I have an equium A60-692, a little more than 9 months. For the past few weeks the computer just turned off while I'm working, especially watching a dvd. I removed the battery and restarted and worked normally. Is something wrong with the battery or the computer uses not common but the passage to the battery?

    Any help would be appreciated.
    David.

    HI David,

There are two possible reasons for your problem,

1: the laptop may be overheating leading to the power off. Normally, it is clearly the fan increased before the laptop closed.

If this is the case try any dust/debris from your cooling fans with a compensation vacuum hose.

2: your power system could suffer an intermittent contact of your power connector on your laptop, which causes the phone switch to battery power, even if the power supply is connected. Usually, this will require a power-stop/restart to restore normal operation. If this is the case, you will notice the low battery alarm.

At 9 months, it is likely that dust/debris is your culprit so I would check that first.

If you suspect your power connector then you should always be covered by your warranty even if you have to convince your repairman is not due to 'normal' wear

    HTH

  • Internet connection and Equium A60

    Hello!
A few months ago, I bought a Toshiba Equium A60. I could never use the modem to connect to the internet via my BT phone line, but the jacket LAN worked well and I plugged my laptop on the net in my workplace. Sudenly it has stopped working, and after the computer went twice to a Toshiba repair center and after reinstalled the system twice and after doing everything that has been said to do to the Toshiba help line, nor the modem or LAN jacket works.

For the modem, troubleshooting says that maybe there is a problem in COM1 and that I should reinstall the system (what I did) and for the local network, it always says that there is no cable connected (I tried 2 different cables and 2 Sockets for connecting different!).

I also tried a USB modem and it does not work! Can someone help me? Or my laptop always uses smoke signals to communicate to the world?

    Hello

In my opinion, you should try to remove the two components of the Device Manager, and then restart the device. The new hardware components should be detected and installed correctly. If there is no success, this is obviously some malfunction of the equipment.

If you connect the LAN cable to your laptop, it must there have enabled the small green light contact and if there is a transfer of data that the orange indicator light should also be activated and flashing. If you connect the LAN cable is it green light turned on? If this isn't the case, you should speak also to the network administrator to check if the socket you are using is properly enabled.

  • Equium A60 does not recognize the DVD ROM

I am trying to use the product recovery dvd - rom on my Equium A60 and found that the reader not recoginse not the disc. I tried DVD movies, audio CD and other disks installion and all work well and the recovery disc is recognized on the other 2 computers I tried it on if the drive is not damaged.

I've also tried uninstalled the driver and restart the computer, so the driver reinstalled, this allowed the disk to read once, but when I rebooted the computer run really drive it is came with the same messages "not found no bootable disk" he was not able to read again since.

    Can anyone help?

Hold on! Have you tried to boot from the recovery DVD or have you tried to boot under Windows OS?

I put t know exactly what could be wrong but sometimes a lens player could malfunction and could not calibrate correctly. In this case some mediums are not readable.

  • Equium A60 - blue screen at startup

Hi... problem with Equium A60. Running on Windows XP SP2, when I start the computer I see the windows xp logo and then all of a sudden it is blue screen and try to restart. What could be wrong? Any sugessions...

    Thank you

Try to start in safe mode. To do this turn on the unit and start pressing F8 immediately, in the advanced options menu, select Safe mode. Log on as administrator. When safe mode has loaded right click on my computer-properties online-online advanced settings-online Startup Recovery & -online the system failure => to uncheck the box that says automatically restart => click OK.

Then stop and restart normally. Now when it bluescreens, you should be able to see the complete error message. You can have a STOP error with a lot of 0s in it. Write it down. Type the STOP in the Google code or support.microsoft.com and see what happens or post it back here, chances are that in this regard, there is a knockout. unless it's a hardware problem.
