Equium L40 does not start

I was working on my Equium L40 when it has just been cut. I had worked on it for a while so it was very hot and the fan worked very hard!

I checked the power supply and it is fine. I'm guessing (but not sure) that this is a motherboard failure and that will cost more than a new laptop (this one is 3 years old). Could it be the battery?

The problem is that I have a job that I need to get. My co-worker said I should just remove the hard drive and get a 'cradle' that will allow I plug the drive into my new laptop using a USB key and retrieve the information. Is this correct?

Any help would be welcome!

Duncan

I put t know for sure, but the problem may be overheating. Leave it for a while and try to restart your laptop. If the laptop restarts correctly to the first back up all your important data.

Next step should be the laptop clean. Probably cools grill full of dust and laptop cannot be properly cooled.

Yes, your friend is right. You can connect the HARD drive to the other PC as external device and you will have full access to your data.

2 previous evenings that I was using my laptop in bed and I had a blue error screen but managed to restart it is ok.
The next night, it was good too. I'm not sure if I have a virus problem or a hardware prob.

I can't ay with certainty what the problem is here, but the best test you can do is to install the OS by using original Toshiba (Toshiba preinstalled OS) recovery image. After doing this you will own preinstalled OS and your laptop will have adjustments to plant again.

I hope that everything will be OK again.
This test is acceptable to you?

One more thing: after installation of recovery image your laptop will definitely be virus-free.

  • Equium A60 does not start after the BIOS update

I have an Equium A60. After being caught with some very nasty malware and Trojan horse, I had the disiccion to reformat the machine and reinstall the OS.

    Hello

Unfortunately, you can not solve a BIOS is broken down by yourself. At the machine really / judgment of accident during the update process? If Yes, then your machine has disappeared and the only chance to bring back to life is to ask an authorized service partner to help you.
Maybe they have a software to solve these problems. You should try and contact the nearest ASP in your country:

    Hello Joseph

I assume that the HARD drive is at the end of his life. Like written Marina trying to check if you have access to the HARD drive otherwise, I think you need to buy new HARD drive.

Please let us know if you will find what is the problem.

  • Satellite L40 - does not start and the screen is completely blank

    Hey guys,.

A good friend of mine has a laptop Toshiba Satellite L40, who died recently, and she has not been able to find the warranty documents yet, so I wanted to ask if maybe you could help.

Basically, what's happened is that one day she was using the computer and not have noticed that it was not plugged in to charge, and before completely lost all power, the computer went into automatic hibernation mode.
It plugged into the charger, the lights indicated that he was in charge. A few hours later she was trying to turn on, but nothing. the computer itself gives off a sound very low, as if turned on, but the screen is completely blank. She said that it's almost like she couldn't make the thing out of hibernation mode. He continues to give sound and some indicators remain lit until the battery is running out of charge.
She has Windows XP is installed on the computer.

Perhaps someone could help as to what is happening here? 1 million thanks!

    Hello

Weird, but have you tried to remove the adaptor AC/DC and battery? Wait one hour and then reconnect the adapter AC/DC and battery. Maybe the laptop restarts.

If this isn't the case, I think that you need assistance from an authorized service provider. It seems to be a hardware problem and the laptop should be checked by a technician from Notepad to determine the cause of this problem.
On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:

    Good luck!

  • Satellite L40 does not start

When I turned on my laptop today I just had a black screen. Says battery fully charged, but if I turn off the power the light disappears. The led drive usually flickers, but is it not also. Can someone please?

Remove the battery and try to start your laptop with AC power only.
You don't see anything on the screen?

  • Satellite Pro L40 does not start after changing the BIOS settings

There is no password on the bios... How would a BIOS reset to normal?

I put a windows disc now, I hear the disc spin but nothing on the screen

(I think that I have come to the right place on the forum)

    It s a Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 model psl4be.

    Thank you

    > There was no bios password... How would a BIOS reset to normal?

You can set the default BIOS ONLY inside the BIOS access BIOS by pressing F2 or at the beginning of the initialization of the order

But I doubt that this problem is related to the BIOS.
Maybe it s just a simple bad luck that this problem happened exactly after change something in the BIOS.

Try connecting an external monitor and check if you can see something on the 2nd screen.

  • Equium A300D will not start.

My Equium A300D does not start. It just displays 'the file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the checksum calculated. Why? What can I do? I have only a few months.

Have you installed lately new RAM? Its important to the RAM test before use. Or the standard RAM is possibly defective.

Go to www.memtest.org and run Memtest for a few passes (it is a bootable CD).

The file system may be damaged, try running CHKDSK from the Recovery Console. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314058

The HARD drive could be faulty, Hitachi DFT is a good HARD drive tester. Run the test advanced to search for bad sectors.

  • Satellite L40-139 does not start

Hello, I have a problem with the SATELLITE L40-139

the thing is when I press the power button / stop, hard drive led will begin to Flash, CD-ROM led is lit and the screen is black. I noticed that advise in the CD-ROM makes a sound ICT in the same way the hdd led flashes (when it flashes I hear a tick form CD, yes I unfolded any computer laptop).

I can only say that I have connected my PC HARD drive and it's working., good fan is not working too, but I think it will start, after some time (as he always did)

Notebook crash circumstances are now saying: that a year ago, he fell from 1 inch (such height ;]) I saw that the ribbon cable connecting the touchpad to the mohterboard was broken and my diidn can't start computer, I thought that there's a problem, but I forgot and left the laptop for more than 9 months (with hard disassebled and battery and cd-rom drive) and then I decided to try to turn it on.
And viola! It works it boots etc.

After a month of being happy, I'm drunk I couldn't sit on the Chair and I decided to sleep with my laptop on the bed, I lied right down and put the laptop on my belly and it crashed (screen freezes) so I decided to reboot, but it does not start.

Here is a video with what I get when turning the power on it: [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jC0pGBBVwJk] (not Fortunately my phone fell in the mud and shifts when I record videos)

Some people suggest I should connect an external display to see if theres no picture but the result is always the same. (Screen not even fuels not on)

Maybe someone could help me fix without sending it to the customer service.

    See you soon.

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here. Of course, you can try to do some tests and try to make some conclusions which may be wrong. After his last stop somewhere I think that there is big problem with graphics card. Of course I can't say it for sure.

Diagnosis just exact mainboard can offer answers. I m afraid mainboard is dead and must be exchanged.

  • Equium M40X: I get to the banner of Toshiba, but Windows does not start

When I start my 2 year old Toshiba Satellite M40X, I get to the banner of Toshiba, but Windows does not start. I tried using the recovery CD and it does not either.

Any suggestions as to what could be the problem?

    Hello

What do you mean with the banner of Toshiba? Did you mean the Toshiba splash screen that appears at the begging of the boot?

Equium M40X successfully passed this screen?

If the laptop is unable to switch to the home Toshiba screen then I presume that the BIOS has detected a hardware problem.
In this case primarily the motherboard fails

But if the laptop is able to spend the Toshiba start screen, the motherboard must be ok and only a 3rd device malfunction as HARD drive could cause this problem.

    Try to study a little

  • Equium M50-192 does not start

    Hello
I posted a question here earlier on my laptop and I had useful assistance but he juices do not appear to have sorted.

but when I boot from the disk it gives me this error pxe - e61, which is where his tent to boot from the network I have read.

    Hello!

What happens to an error you get? Please post what we can help you.

To be honest that I n don't know what you mean with clip Ribbon keyboard but if the keyboard is faulty or something else, the keyboard completely must be exchanged. You are not a unique key or something else.
If you want a new keyboard or other spare parts contact your local ASP.

  • Equium does not start after Exchange VGA and motherboard

    Greetings.
I have a satellite that were replaced VGA & mainboard, but it does not start. There power correctly and power & switch are turned on but there is no image on the LCD or external. HDD led flashes but nothing more.

I tried a different CPU and RAM modules.

In other threads with similar problems seems to be a problem with the screws but I tried to remove all the, winding or change.

Im stuck with this and have need of any kind of help.

    Thank you

    Try this:
Remove the battery and the AC adapter, wait up to an hour, plug in the battery and the AC adapter and try again to restart the laptop.

In my opinion, a problem with the motherboard. The new mother is maybe defective.
You have replaced parts by yourself?

  • Equium A100-338 does not start the OS Vista - update Bios?

    Hi guys,.

My laptop (a few months) decided to die and was told by tech support that it might be because of the BIOS. The problem is that the computer does not start the operating system (Vista) and the update of the BIOS available only is the version of windows. Are there any other mirror to get the traditional update or even a way to convert a the update the BIOS from Windows startup disk?

    Thank you

    Hello

If you can see that one version of BIOS on Toshiba page then only one version exists and is available!

    > The problem is that the computer does not start the Vista operating system
I don t think that BIOS could be responsible for this problem.

You must first provide more info on this problem!
The laptop goes to home Toshiba screen? Have you tried to recover the laptop with the Toshiba Recovery CD?

    Please provide details!

  • Equium L10 will not start

Please help - my Equium L10 will not start.

Power supply is OK. When the power is connected the orange battery light comes on. I press the power button the green power light turns on momentarily (literally a Flash), then both the Green and orange lights out with orange alone returning it on about 2 seconds later.

Else does nothing - no fan activity, no hard disk, no activity of the screen activity, no other light - you get the picture!

    I tried the following:
Removed battery and tried to start with AC power not only - no joy
Removed AC power and I tried booting with battery only - no joy
Barrette of RAM removed and reinstall - no joy

Does anyone have ideas before considering a tech? Suggestions (with the exception where to paste!) would be welcome.

    Kind regards

    Gary C

Hmm .He doesn't sound good. For me, it looks like a motherboard problem. It is maybe something wrong with electronic power to the Board of Directors of s. But not for sure.

What you can do is to remove the battery and unplug the power adapter for a while.
Wait about 20 minutes and connect the battery and adapter for the laptop. Then try turning on the laptop computer.
If this does not help I recommend contact the ASP technician, because I don t think you will be able to know what's exactly wrong.

So I hope that the technician can find the fault quickly and can solve this problem.

    Good luck
