Install old HDD to the pc with the new HARD drive and operating system different?
Hi, I recently ripped my old laptop that no longer works, after buying a newer laptop 4 years ago. The new laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed while the old machine had Windows Vista installed. I want to put the old HDD in my new machine to extract some files that I want to keep and possibly use this particular drive as a disc of extra storage without having to turn it into a portable device. Would that work or would I meet problems with him? It would be just a plug & play this sort of thing (as the old HDD already has an operating system installed) or the old drive (vista) would cause the new drive (win7) fails at startup?
And sorry if this has already been covered. I searched through the questions asked previously and has not really found a similar job.
You can use your old drive, but you should check that the "Boot order" is the most recent Player listed before the old drive. If need be exit and save your BIOS boot becomes.
Next
After you have started since the new drive, you may need to take ownership of the files you need to copy.
To take ownership of a file or folder
1. open Windows Explorer and locate the file or folder you want to take charge.
2. right click on the file or folder, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.
3. click on advanced and then click the owner tab.
4. click on edit and then do one of the following:
To change the owner to a user or group that is not listed, click other users and groups and enter the object name to select (examples), type the name of the user or group and then click OK.To change the owner to a user or a group is listed in the change owner to box, click the new owner.
5. (optional) to change the owner of all subcontainers / folders and objects in the tree view, select the Replace owner of subcontainers and objects check box.
Then use 'Disk management' to delete all existing partitions and reformat the old drive.

Satellite A200-1 g (PSAECE) Win XP. Need drivers for SATA HDD and GeForce 7300
Hi all.
I would install XP instead of Vista on my note. As far as I know, XP has no builtin for SATA driver. I found no drivers for GeForce 7300 on the toshiba Web site. So I need drivers for SATA HDD and GeForce 7300. Where can I find them?
Thank you.Hello
Why must you SATA XP drivers? You are not able to install XP because the HARD drive is not visible?
With regard to the nVidia drivers:
It seems that the A200 notebooks were shipped with a different hardware configuration.
Some laptops come with the Intel GPU and some with nVidia graphics card.
The Intel GPU driver is available on the Toshiba page.Graphic driver nVidia can be downloaded from the site Web of Toshiba Canada or 3rd sites like www.omegadrivers.net or www.laptopvideo2go.com

Ritmo/Vista sata/pata pci-e card / / number of storage controller
Please help, I recently bought a Ritmo PCI Express to sata/eSata/pata Host controller (model-cc p854) in order to provide a 'port' for my cd rom/hdd pata (to spare). on the mini motherboard (which is not pata). It seems that the controller of campaigns is the problem of identification of the map area, then a CD on my os. I returned to the seller, and he said the name of the ide controller is-A9TYFGP storage controller card. (but chicken said the detected CD-ROM was not that one, it should have been). MY screen says; initiator Microsoft iSCSI, starport storage controller (lite). That may or may not cover it! The area of the control panel network adapters has a device called; Atheros AP8151 pci - e gigabyte ethernet controller. I don't know where is this unit. My question > y at - it a program to study or for the implementation of this product? I think that once this is done, it will facilitate the discovery of the cd rom. The BIOS recognizes the card and gives details of the connected disks and a screen for RAID - but the operating system is not so aware.

Re: Tecra S3 - new 250 gb Sata hdd - windows does not recoginse
Hi all
I have a tecra S3-PTS30-E, which came from the company, I work for which was no longer necessary.
I replaced the current 40 GB with two different - hdd
Western Digital 250 GB WD2500BPVT
Toshiba 120 GB - MK1252GSX
I tried both separately and windows XP pro service pack 3 will not recognize either.
I have downloaded the driver sata toshiba Web site and installed via F6 at startup, windows asks you what driver, windows 2000 or XP, I click on XP and you enter, windows continues until advising so none found HDD
I also tried to download drivers intel after searching other threads, and it does not work through floppy.
I also added the drivers toshiba XP ISO using nlite to create a disk slipstream and while xp is loading the disc, I noticed 'pilot toshiba raid' being installed. Same no result no hard drive found.
Can anyone help?
Thank you
Jin

According to the specifications on this page:
http://reviews.CNET.com/laptops/Toshiba-Tecra-S3-s411td/1707-3121_7-31556311.html
Your laptop's Ide interface, as far as I know on the old IDE interface there is a limitation of LBA 28 bits, which means that the laptop can only manage hard disks up to 128 GB.

Tecra M5: Need support USB2 for SATA HDD
My beautiful new Tecra M5 uses a SATA drive, but most USB enclosures still accept only IDE drives. My question is: does anyone know of a door-USB2 for a SATA drive?
I would like a similar disk box USB2 to backup my Tecra laptop by cloning the full hard drive (using Casper XP). If/when the primary drive fails, or some other calamity, all strikes do I have to do is to replace the internal drive with USB support. (It is not so common, but my hard drive failed once, and the cloned drive saved the day).
Until I can find a SATA support I use Acronis True Image to backup on an IDE drive images in a USB support. Even if it seems effective, I'd rather have a cloned drive because it is easier to make a recovery dummy to prove that the procedure works without risking to damage the data on the primary disk simultaneously.

Hello
As far as I know the external uses the IDE interface.
I have not seen cases of HARD drive external for a SATA HDD.
But you can also use the external USB case with an IDE interface for backups. But you need a new HARD drive. But the HARD drive are not very expensive (depends on the size of the HARD disk)
You can save the backup image to a file and then you can place the file on the external HARD drive.
If something goes wrong with your OS, so you can use the backup file to restore your operating system. -
Installation of a second SATA HDD in 500-304nd Pavilion
I recently bought the Office mentioned in the topic, as well as a second 1 TB SATA HDD to add. I found the connections for a second car but unable to find a place on the computer chassis to physically install the disk. What is the secret here? Do I need a room to mount the HARD drive and if so: where can I find one?
Thanks for your response!
I found a simple solution to mount the second HDD:
-J' noticed that the HARD disk that comes with the computer is mounted using the holes at the bottom.
-J' used the screw holes on both sides of the HARD drive and those identical on the second HARD drive, using four strips of metal (with screw holes on the same distance as the thickness of a HARD drive) and eight live, to link the two together. -
Hi all..
Since the book manual and the online manual, it says that my SL400 cannot be upgraded to 320 GB SATA HDD.
Is it possible to upgrade my HDD to MORE than 320 GB?
If possible, how much is the maximum capacity that HARD drive my SL400 can support?
Thank you for the kind attentions
Kind regards
Hi ularlaut,
There is no maximum limit, it will be the largest that is currently available, as it is of 2.5 "wide and 9.5 mm high SATA laptop.
I hope this helps.

I suspect that you are using an older version of Ghost. I suggest that you contact Norton Support to find out how to work around this problem. SATA drives need special drivers (or return them to IDE mode in the bios of the computer, but I don't know what will happen good stability when you do) to run in BACK only. -

The Dell Poweredge C6100 XS23-TY3 server: Max supported 3.5 "SATA HDD TB size
Hello world
Is someone can please tell me that what is maximum supported 3.5 "SATA HDD by Dell Poweredge C6100?
Thank you

The SATA drive bigger than we sell to the C6100 2 TB, but we sell Nearline SAS up to 4 TB of the C6100. I see no reason for a SATA drive more 2 TB should not operate.
Thank you

R720 can I connect drive sas/sata hard without controller card?
I have a r720 without raid card. When I plug a ssd or disc of 15 k / 10 k sas on the hotswap backplane, chassis recognizes the drive is connected (I get an orange light and lcd to alert that the disc is removed when I go out). However, the bios and the operating system does not recognize any disks hotswap (they see only the optical drive connected to the ports on the motherboard sata.
Do I need a controller card to use drives connected on the backplane, or is it possible to use backplane without controller card? I didn't need raid functionality.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Shane
ntshaneDo I need a controller card to use drives connected on the backplane, or is it possible to use backplane without controller card? I didn't need raid functionality.Yes, you must have a controller connected to the bottom of basket. If you have purchased the system without a RAID controller should have a SAS cable that goes from the backplane to the slot of controller S110 chipset on the system board.
You can use the S110 SATA controller on board for communication with backplane. Well, there are limits to the S110 controller, so may not suit your needs. You can probably buy LSI 9207 if you want readers to run in a non-RAID. The other options are a H710 PERC; which you can set the readers to the single drive RAID 0 s. In this State, they function as drives no RAID. You can also get a H310. The H310 supports the RAID mode, but we have added a few features to the H310 who do not find in previous versions of the card. In doing so, it reduced performance when operating in a mode non-RAID.
The reason why I say that you'll probably want another controller than the S110 is because you mentioned that you have SAS disks. The S110 is a single SATA controller. In addition, the S110 is supported up to 4 discs.
To access the BIOS RAID make sure the S110 is turned on in THE system BIOS. In the BIOS, go to SATA settings. In the menu choose the RAID mode. It will turn on the S110 controller. You can configure the drives in the BIOS S110 when booting with the CTL R. I do not know what operating system, you perform the installation, but the S110 is compatible with Windows.
Thank you
