Example of NEITHER RIO USRP LabView

Hello world

We begin to famaliarize oursevles with USRP AND 2953R. Is there an example project in LabView which is similar to the sample of streaming media project in LabView Commnuication Rx?

Thank you very much!

Rui Wang

I found myself. 'S called it Simple USRP project LabView streaming.

You may need 2014 LabView, the LabView FPGA module installed.

  • How to synchronize multiple devices (294 x) Rio usrp

    Hello

I'm trying to receive 4 channels using two devices USRP-294xR (USRP RIO) to synchronously and run the example for the reception of several device program.   Often, I receive the error message "failed synchronization.  If I run the example several times in a row, this error message occurs more often than otherwise, but for all the times that he does not, I am able to collect data that seems like synchronous through the channels of reception.  So, in a way that works for me, but with the annoying feature that I need to run the program several times now until I am able to avoid the "Synchronization failed" error

My installation includes an Octoclock connected to the Ref connections in and PPS in the two USRPs.  In the example, VI, I selected Ref in, but it is clear to me what choice should I use for relaxation.  Possible options are: 'Software', 'Immédiate', "Digital Edge", "Rx Start Trigger" and "Tx Start Trigger.  I had assumed my previous experience using these devices with the FPGA Ettus I would choose an option indicating that I tried to synchronize the external signal of PPS.  "External PPS" is not among the options of trigger, I'm confused as to how the synchronization.

I saw the article below, but it's not not clear for me if I should be able to achieve my goal without making changes FPGA. It is possible to synchronize multiple devices using the program by default FPGA and example (i.e., for example RIO, not the host screw using the Ettus FPGA image)?  If so, any suggestions to help me avoid this error "synchronization failed"?

Yep, that's exactly it. The USRP RIO is not output enough power on the PPS TRIG OUT line to drive the lines of PPS TRIG IN two USRP RIOs, unfortunately

The USRP captain's exit a PPS TRIG OUT in PPS TRIG IN sound. then all the USRPs you set this unit as the * first * device in the table of features of RIO for the façade of synchronization with a cross screw.

  • NEITHER RIO incompatible Bitfile

I opened a new LabVIEw 2014 project and added a NI 9068 chassis using FPGA. With the discovery of the C Series modules, I get the following error:

NOR-RIO: The bitfile you are trying to use is incompatible with the version of NOR-installed on the target RIO and/or the host. Upgrade the version of NOR-RIO on the target and the host to the same version (or later) used to compile the bitfile. You can also recompile the bitfile with the same version of NOR-RIO which is currently installed on the target and the host.

I checked the chassis has NEITHER-RIO 14.0.1 installed and my PC has NEITHER-RIO installed 14.0.1. I uninstalled all the software on the 9068 OR and reinstalled with the software currently installed on my PC with no luck. Also, I have attaced a screenshot of the software installed on my PC and on the cRIO. What Miss me?

    Hello jaymik,

One of the ways that you could get in this State is if you have recently upgraded to LabVIEW 2014 without also reinstall drivers for devices OR RIO August 2014 f1 distribution (14.0.1). If you have installed instead the 14.0.0 distribution, then your LabVIEW 2014 media files would be obsolete. Is the file of bits necessary to detect the C Series modules in the LabVIEW support component.

The best way to see what's happened is that if you send us a technical report of MAX. see:

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/271F252B4EF0A2E0862570E70056A1E4?OpenDocument

Alternatively, you can try just to download and install the 14.0.1 distribution, which will fix the problem if my suspicion is correct:

    http://www.NI.com/download/NI-Rio-14.0.1/4862/en/

If the order of installation is the problem, then it is more necessary to run the recommended test as Sebastian.

  • SISO TDD OFDM Streaming Video on NEITHER RIO or FlexRIO USRP

    Hello!

How has the Full Duplex was assured in USRP RIO?

In accordance with the document of this example, the simultaneous transmission of receiver chain is possible at the same frequency. If I take this right has component the interference of the transmitter Tx1 and RX1 was completely canceled for transposition Full Duplex.

Or the FD is possible for an arrangement of the antenna?

    Thank you

Understood that here Full Duplex doesn't mean full-duplex, we speak in reception and simultaneous transmission of documents i.e. contemporaries.  Here, it's a TDD system, where two data sources can be listened in conjunction, rising and falling, for example as in the No. loopback condition.  Simultaneous, albeit two multiplexes in time, flow: downlink uplink (base station user) (base station for the user).

  • FPGA IO Module error, recognizes NEITHER 5751 in LabVIEW

    Here is my configuration:

    • Windows 7 sp1, 64-bit
    • LabVIEW 2013 sp1, FPGA, real-time

Which is connected via an Ethernet cable to:

    • Chassis SMU-1078
    • SMU-8135 embedded controller
    • SMU-7961R FPGA x 2
    • Module e/s NI 5751 x 2
    • LabVIEW time real 13.0.1
    • NOR-DAQmx 15.1.1
    • NOR-RIO 15.5
    • OR PXI Platform Services 14.1.0

NOR, Max the FPGA and 5751 adaptation Modules appear as a gift. But in my LabVIEW project, IO Modules always show an error. I chose the good 'NI 5751' option, but the State still shows this:

I tried to restart the chassis and the computer. I tried selecting another Module of e/s and then back by flipping. I am also unable to compile the code example on the FPGA (Xilinx errors).

    Any ideas?

The status shows you which adapter module expects the bitfile who is currently on the fpga module. The reason why it says no is probably because you have not deployed anything the fpga target since he powered and there just the default image loaded on it. Try deploying a bitfile to which has been compiled to work with a 5751 and you'll be fine.

I do not know why you can not compile the 5751 get started example however. I'd make sure you have all the build tools installed correctly. What are the mistakes do you receive when you try to compile? Such problems are sometimes easier to solve by phone if you want to open a support on ni.com/support ticket.

  • NEITHER 9512 with Labview FPGA Interface

Is it possible to use the NI 9512 stepper with Labview FPGA interface drive unit or is it only possible to use it with the interface of scanning? When I try to add the module to a FPGA target, I get an error telling me that Labview FPGA does not support this module with the latest version of NOR-RIO, but I have the latest version of OR-installed RIO.

    Hi Checkit,

You're right - the 9512 cannot currently be used in FPGA. There is an error in the documentation. The 9514 and 9516 can, however.

  • Example of NEITHER Finder as

I would like to create a windows that looks like NEITHER example Finder.  I remember seeing in it for example, but for some reason, I can't seem to find him.  I would like to be able to identify several VI in folder directory then allowing the user to click and open this VI then close the front panel.  Anyone know where I can find this example and what is the name of it?  Thank you

Well, it doesn't quite normal to a hyperlink. With a hyperlink, text remains highlighted when the mouse passes over the text. That's why I said to use "mouse enter' and 'let the mouse '. By doing so, you also eliminate the value of unnecessary time-out for the structure of the event.

  • NEITHER CVS using Labview Linux?

Hi, I have a CVS here, as well as 1455 development under labview linux machine. I've used MAX to set up this CVS, but it seems that my labview is not MAX, and I can see on the site it seems to be available for Linux. Could someone point me in the right direction to set up/use my CVS using labview linux (I've got installed 8.5).

You need to write code CVS to turn an image into a table of number using IMAQ ImageToArray.

Then, use the shared variable or TCP/IP to return data to the host VI.

However, there are two things to remember:

    1. an image won't be like in real-time, as show on VI target itself.

    2. because the Vision Development Module does not support on Linux, all the processing of the image on Linux must develop in yourself.

  • Compact RIO (cRIO) / LabVIEW Bug event management

I have a bug in my code cRIO and it only happens in cRIO and not in Windows PC. To illustrate the bug, I've included a LV 2014 vi that duplicates the problem.

The code is very simple and offers the following features:

    (1) if the user presses the 'Test' button, the Enum has its set value reported. It's the change of Enum event is triggered two times.

    (2) if the Enum is changed by itself, that a change of the Enum event is observed.

This bug is only seen in cRIO but not on Windows PC LabVIEW.

  • Is it possible to program a wirelressly SingleBoard RIO with LabVIEW?

I know I can use a TXRX/Ethernet to Wifi dongle. As far as I understand it, it can be used only for wireless data transfer and not for the programming Committee. Is there another way I could accomplish this task?

All communications with the sbRIO (e.g., programming, execution interactive installation of the software component, data transfer, transfer files etc.) is done via the ethernet port and no matter how they are connected (e.g. wired / wireless) as long as they are on the same network.

This isn't like a microcontroller where you have to connect with a header to separate programming and/or JTAG interface or something like that. The sbRIO runs an operating system (Linux RT or Pharlap/VxWorks) that allows you to do all that via the ethernet port.

  • LV 1.1, 14.5.1, 2950R USRP, DSP overflow using the example of Streaming Single-Device

    Hello.

I use the SDR LabVIEW 1.1 and the USRP 14.5.1 with USRP-2950 device driver. Recently, I tried to use the interface of RX-host of the 'USRP RIO 40 MHz BW Single - Device Streaming PC' - example. Although the USRP device is connected to the PC via the MXIe card I get an error of overflow DSP (continuous mode). In my view must avoid an overflow of DSP for the chosen bandwidth and sample rate (examples in screenshot).

If someone else gets this error or do I have to contact support OR? I already crushed the FPGA Image with the "NOR-SURP Configuration Utility.

    Thanks and greetings

  • The NI USRP-295xR RIO allows a front-end Ettus BasicRX IF-sampling? And what is the rate of the ADC to FPGA data?

    Hello!

I'm in the quest to replace some aging PCI-5640R. I am currently using as a portable-Journal data solution, mounted in a Magma Expresscard to PCI box with a laptop. As a reference of the time, I use a Symmetricom XLi.

The equipment is dependent on the sampling finished a set of samples once a trigger signal goes high and also receive antenna azimuth information using two lines PFI more. The signal is sampled at IF, 30 MHz, and the signal is less than 5 MHz bandwidth.

Now, I started watching the Ettus X 301 with a GPS OCXO and MXI-express interface which should be the same as the USRP-295xR NI. It is available as device NI RIO with three different front ends, unfortunately, none of them work at 30 MHz.

Q-1: Ettus has the front-end 'BasicRX', but it is only considered compatible with LabVIEW driver and not necessarily with the RIO. Is the front-end BasicRX usable with the USRP - 295XR RIO and MXI-interface with LabVIEW FPGA? Should I just avoid trying tune the nonexistent LO? As long as he gives me data, I can live with some error messages during the Setup...

It's the best solution for me, but if it is absolutely impossible, I have a few questions:

Q-2: information on the front end are really rare in the pages Web OR both Ettus, but the WBX is listed up to 50 MHz frequency, to have a filter of low pass of bandwidth of 40 MHz to I and Q. This should mean a total of 80 MHz of bandwidth with I and combined Q,-40 to 40 MHz. Why did the bandwidth to Web pages as OR listed being "40 MHz bandwidth in real time", if the low pass filter of the WBX is 40 MHz in I and Q? Not the band total bandwidth or 80 MHz?

Q-3: assuming a bandwidth-40 to 40 MHz: could I put the WBX LO at 50 MHz, be tuned to the frequencies from 30 MHz to 20 MHz signal,-20 MHz and use a bandpass filter to the FPGA to extract the new signals and remove all other signals?

Q 4: I tried to start a FPGA project in LabVIEW and add the x 301/294xR/295xR as a target. Data clock is locked to 120 MHz, which I guess means he will receive no data to 120MS/s IQ? The x 301 Ettus is listed as provide data of the ADC to the FPGA at a rate of 200 ms/s, could someone explain to me why, OR USRP RIO expects only database 120MS/s?

    Hi Idar,

Yes, you should be able to put the basics on your X 310/USRP RIO and use LabVIEW FPGA to receive 120 MECH. / s of the DACs.  The example I posted is in fact not for the precompiled file bit.  The example I posted is for LabVIEW FPGA, which allows you to add the IP address for the FPGA.  There is a sample project that comes with LabVIEW FPGA which is the recommended starting point to build your FPGA application.  The sample project has all the configuration set up as well as broadcast continuously and pads/FIFOs in the FPGA and examples for synchronization.  There are comments in the code example that show where he must add your own blocks of property intellectual as a filter and decimater you mentioned.  The PDF I posted shows what changes you must make to this sample project using the Remora Basic/LF.

I would like to know if I'm not explaining this clearly, or if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help you!

  • problem running example project USRP FPGA connected via Ethernet

    Hello

I am trying to run the example project of USRP FPGA on a USRP-2940R connected to a PC windows using Ethernet. I have not made any changes to the FPGA VI or screw host and I'm tryign to run the host Rx in Streaming, VI. I get the error-63180 function Open Bitfile dynamic reference (called from the VI open device), with a possible reason for "the specified resource name is a reserved word or an invalid alias. Alias of RIO can only contain alphanumeric characters, '-' and '_ '. I specified an IP (192.168.10.2) for entry of address of device to function. I guess the address of the device is the problem. This who should I be specifying the address of device in this case. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LabVIEW FPGA on Ethernet is only available through LabVIEW RT. Behind the scenes of the target is still connected to the well RT via PCIe controller and then the RT controller is connected to the host via Ethernet. There are also some USB LabVIEW FPGA targets (http://www.ni.com/white-paper/14821/en/).

For the RIO USRP, MXIe is currently the only bus taken in charge for LabVIEW FPGA.

  • NOR-RIO 4.0 is not compatible with 64-bit LabVIEW?

    Hello

I have a 7841R multifunction RIO card.  I currently install the evaluation version of LabVIEW to test.  I've got 64-bit LabVIEW installed successfully and I had installed NOR-RIO 3.6 (which was on the disc that came with the card).  Trying to install other features (I think C to FPGA interface or something), I discovered that I needed NOR-RIO 4.0.  I uninstalled OR RIO 3.6, downloaded OR RIO 4.0 and now I try to install it.  I get the message a few steps in the process:

Important note about NOR-RIO of LabVIEW support (64-bit Versions)
A 64-bit version of LabVIEW has been detected on your system.  This version of the driver NOR-RIO support the 64-bit versions of LabVIEW.  However, this version of NOR-RIO is fully compatible with the 32-bit versions of LabVIEW installed on 64-bit operating systems.

Is there a NEITHER-RIO 4.0 version that supports the 64-bit versions of LabVIEW?  If so, could you point me to it?

Or do I have to install the 32-bit version of LabVIEW?

    Thanks for the help!

    See you soon,.

    Tom

    Hey Tom,

Unfortunately, we do not have a RIO driver that is compatible with our 64-bit LabVIEW Development software.  If you need to use the RIO driver, you must install the 32-bit version of LabVIEW and build your applications in the development system.  Sorry for the confusion at the start during the installation process!
