  • Pavilion 17: Bluetooth equipment

Hello friends, I bought a HP Pavilion 17 refurbished

    Product # G6R31UAR #ABA

I can't tell if it has the installed bluetooth hardware. My question is if it is not installed can equipment be purchased so I can install it and where should I go to buy?

Also the expensive equipment or a USB Dongle a better way to go?

I love this laptop, the screen is excellent and it works very well after the pilot and the upgrade of Windows 10 updates. Did not much Windows 8.

This laptop isn't bluetooth compatibility, but USB bluetooth adapters are usually the very little expensive (~ $15 or less, with some retailers online) and are easy to use. I highly recommend this path for an easy solution.

  • QuickTime Player does not read the sub file.

I tried to watch a movie with subtitles using a randomly video player, but I'm having some problems now. So I tried to use QuickTime Player to my surprise, there was no possible way to do it, but to burn the subs in the movie file. How is it that such expensive equipment does not have a video player that can actually read subs?

Please, take a look at this, I think that we should not have to download another video player to do this.

  • iPhone stolen and then off immediately

My 6 + a iPhone was stolen from my pocket, in a public place. I realized with in 1 minute. I called back on my phone using another phone but seems thief he took were immediately.

I remember much about high security features of this expensive equipment. I asked my wife to immediately follow the phone hoping that nothing can happen that I have Apple device not one another... Phone appeared offline and so far, he is off line. It is 6 days and always in offline mode.

Because it is public information that how the apple security system once an iOS device was stolen so for us it is fair to assume that thief also knew what not to do once he stole an iPhone.

I guess that those who have conceptualized and implemented the security of iOS devices were a very naïve and unrealistic assumption that thief will be finally running the unit and let the owner keep track. It will never happen?

So now that the thief will be with my camera $ 1200 if it won't have to connect the iPhone to the internet and help me in my camera using the excellent "find my phone" app for tracking?

It can easily sell it for parts and get at least a few hundred dollars out of it.

Ask yourself what best I can have other that define a difficult access code, connect in iCloud, turns on "Find my phone" and once it is stolen then place it on the lost mode, plays sound and then, assuming that only the device owner are intelligent species and the thief being the most ignorant, which would certainly result in thief connect the device to the network for my investment of $1200.

Although the mechanism of apple security everything is documented publicly, and I'm not going to ask who switched off must be protected by an access code that corresponds to the information private only in this regime as a whole thing. I was wondering what apple think about protecting its customers, if such a situation occurs.

Overall, the customer is in full loss but ironically thief has still encourage them to do something about the transaction and is not taken at all.

The phone has little value to the thief if you have enabled the find my phone feature, which puts a lock on the device activation. They will not be able to use the phone somehow. Nor will any what buyer, they can find.

It is really little or no value for parts. Only ace-in-the-hole the thief is the greed of its potential buyers. They will offer the phone upwards, no questions asked, for a pittance and work as the buyer begins to understand how little value the locked phone to her.

Small consolation, I know. The sophisticated system is no match for a determined thief. We are and always will be, responsible for the physical security of all their personal property, regardless of their purchase price.

Hope Apple can or any other manufacturer of hand held devices to ensure their safety? We flight since the beginning of time.

Apple has no magic solution for this. What they have done is to protect your data and make an attempt to reduce the value of iPhones stolen to some extent.

When and maybe if the buying public stops paying for locked phones, the system will "work".

  • iPad stopped Pro charge & cannot connect to iTunes

I don't know what happened during the night but my new iPad Pro stopped charging.  We see 0% long hours unplugged, when I plug in the charger has no display of love at first sight.  It's weird what it was 0% for long hours unplugged but still doesn't work.

iTunes, when connected by USB cable, does not at all.  Looks like something is really bad past with this expensive equipment.  Only a month.  I bought at Costco and will return this defective iPad unless someone has something to revive.

The cables are all authentic new Apple.

    Thank you.

Honestly, even if we had something to revive I always return it. It is too new and that you paid too much for this kind of question in a new device.

  • Sony RX100-Solution online user guide

I spent a whole day trying to understand all the features of this fabulous unit due to poorly designed online user's guide. Oh, and PAY for Fedex print me a copy is not an option. In fact, it is an insult for the technical support of even mentioning such an idea.
This is my temporary solution. Copy and paste all of the user's guide as a pdf file. At least I can print the guide in booklet form and take it with me if necessary.
Given that Sony seems to be stunned on the provision of a practical guide for this expensive equipment, would you consider putting the pdf I created on your Web site as well as others may visit his profile? Believe me, it will be in your favor to do.
    Thank you very much

    Hello Bob,

  • Bought B210a in the Portugal. Now to return to the United States. Problems?

After four years of volunteering in the North of Portugal, where I bought my printer Photosmart Plus B210e (still in warranty) and my laptop HP Pavilion PC (out of warranty of six weeks), for reasons of ill health, I must return to the United States. [The printer that I had delivered statements did not survive the movers.]

I have problems with my printer, or warranty with the purchase of ink cartridges?  I saw the messages of other people outside the United States, saying that their printers require different cartridges and more expensive - here, I use four 364, it is the same cartridge in the USA?

HP/USA will accept a guarantee of common market HP/ESA (given that HP has all printers manufactured in China, there should be no problem, but...).

Unfortunately, I live on a medical pension, which means that I don't want to buy expensive equipment that I already bought and paid for.

Thank you very much - this is my first time on this forum.

    FCZ +.

You can continue to use the cartridges in the printer and spare cartridges you have.  Once you miss if ink and the need to replace a cartridge you need to Contact HP to ask a "regionalization Reset." Do not charge for this, it is covered under the warranty of the cartridge. You will need to have access to your computer and printer then on line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once completed reset cartridges of region of origin no longer works.  Webpage of HP on the subject is here.

The cartridges in the United States will be 564.

I don't know how the EU guarantee would transfer to the United States, you must Contact HP.

  • Someone from management can help me! Feel disappointed to Dell customer service.

I hope that someone from management can help me. Support guys just simply useless. I spend more than 4 hours on the phone one day.

I live in Toronto, in the Canada. I would like to buy Server United States and sheep in San Jose, California. It is indeed expensive equipment - more than 6000 USD. With Dell's online system, I can't put my Canadian billing address. I asked the support of aid. But they put the two even - answer or address same as billing or billing address shipping address delivery to the France. Or move to another department or hang up the phone. After seven days of travel front and rear, they canceled the order, saying that we have not received the payment.

I would not be qualified someone help me? I had the feeling that Dell does not take money from me without explaining the reason.

I called Dell Canada. Dell Canada they would not discuss the issue, saying that they do not sheep servers in the USA and are unwilling to discuss further. If I understand correctly they reside in India and were afraid to discuss the situation.

Unfortunately I promised my client to have Dell server as a host for our project, otherwise I already bought HP Server.

    Help, please!

  • Rejected calls, security refusal control?

This is the Cisco Tandberg C40 Codec

    * s h.323 Gatekeeper status: rejected
    * s h.323 Gatekeeper address: "62.171.194.50."
    * s h.323 Gatekeeper Port: 1719
    * s h.323 Gatekeeper reason: 'security refusal '.

I guess that the problem comes from the Cisco box and not with SWGFL such as H323 and E164 settings are the same for the Cisco and SWGFL?

The Aethra Vega X 3 in the room next door works fine as the Cisco did last month.

A lot of expensive equipment is not, unfortunately, we had an interview with Logicalis contract that expired.

It could be a bad alias e164 number, a wrong password, some software incompatibility between the used two

    versions...

SWGFL is the supplier of your registration service, you should check with them what goes wrong and

what they expect to be configured.

  • Broken yellow load USB X 220

    Hello

I stumbled and accidentally yanked on my 900 Lumia was charging in my X 220, who broke the little yellow tongue and four metal teeth (I guess that's what we call them) inside the yellow USB port. It is completely broken.

Anyone know where I can buy a replacement and how difficult is it to replace?

I miss my usb port yellow as a cowboy miss his finger spring ;(

    Thank you

    Planar = in simple terms?

Is talk of IBM (now Lenovo talk) for motherboad. I'm sorry.

Uh, I was hoping that I could just buy an another yellow usb, follow the manual 220 X and replace the whole part. Mind you I have not watched the instruction manual yet.

Unfortunately, it is not as simple as that. USB connectors are soldered to the motherboard. You need expensive equipment and trained technicians to replace these parts without further damaging the motherboard in the process.

    You have three options:

    1. find a repair center local circuit board to do the job.

    2. living without the USB port.

    3 replace the mother/Planar.

  • VMware VSAN vs Nutanix

    Hi all

I like to discuss the pros and cons of both solutions

Pros - VSAN is integrated into the vmkernel, Nutanix ia a virtual machine.

Cons - Nutanix is more flexible, interact with the other hipervisors (XEN and Hyper-V)

Pros - vSAN is compatible with the most expensive equipment and only nutanix counterpart hardware.

    more questions for this dircussion?

Pros - VSAN is integrated into the vmkernel, Nutanix ia a virtual machine.

In my opinion, there are very few benefits to be integrated into the vmkernel, is one of the benefits of running in a virtual machine that is not depends on the version of the hypervisor.

For example, you can run the latest version of Nutanix with vSphere 5.5, is not possible with VSANS since its related to the version of the hypervisor.

Cons - Nutanix is more flexible, interact with the other hipervisors (XEN and Hyper-V)

XEN is not taken in charge but AVS (a version of KVM), Hyper-V and all supported versions of vSphere. (Possibly other hypervisors in the future)

Pros - vSAN is compatible with the most expensive equipment and only nutanix counterpart hardware.

Nutanix is available on multiple hardware platforms such as Supermicro, Dell and Lenovo.

WARNING: Used Nutanix but try to remain objective.

  • Work with C4D jerks in the C4DLite and AE

    Hello

I recently discovered Lite C4D in AE and tried to create a simple 3D text to import then into EI.

However C4D Lite is very slow and jerky for example, when you use the rotation and move the visualization tools (the text he stutters / freezes when moving from the view when you create during short intervals, turning the wire 3D text then just a square). Once in AE, when you use the AE camera in 3D tool, it also translates into a jerky and very slow movement.

C4D recognises my GPU under the opengl settings. In addition, I played with the rendering of C4D plugin settings in AE (also try the new opengl mode). I also changed AEs parameters to set aside approximately 25% of RAM for other applications, while that join all my SSD cache. But it does not help.

Can you please tell how I can improve the performance of C4D Lite and its plugin in AE? Is it time to bury and change my GPU or pay for other expensive equipment enhancements make the process smoother? You can find the form below.

    Thank you!

  • Question of T61p

    Hello

My computer has a long and two short beeps.  This is not the first time that has happened.  In April, wellllll out of warranty, Lenovo has replaced my GPU and everything was fine and dandy.  All my friends were supprised with the customer service provided by Lenovo in these dark times.  On my advice, one of my best friends even bought a beautiful W520 not too long ago.  Earlier this month, my computer went to sleep and never woke up with the same problem.  I called Lenovo and told that the repair is under warranty for 90 days.  The customer service agent was so rough.  So, my computer died a month too late.  I was wondering why the Lenovo would not always respect their computers and replace it because it's a known issue, I already got repaired.  I was a full supporter Thinkpad flight with my help, I had my parents and brother buy Lenovo.  It's downhill from my computer died with the purchase of a new Thinkpad W520.  I'm in College majoring in architecture and really really really need a computer, so once ordered I am expecting to receive a.  He has been hanging out in NC for about a week.  It became frustrating to deal with Lenovo and I feel like it would have been better to go with an another computer company.  I just my T61p set so I can have 2 and Lenovo Thinkpads opperable what point people of show is.

    Thank you

Replace the GPU is not possible (without expensive equipment), it is integrated with the system board. Replacing the motherboard is not difficult for a trained technician, or enthousiest, but this isn't replaing a keyboard or a hard drive, you need to remove a large number of tiny parts and fittings of the cables, as well as your processor. A careless handling can damage these devices of discharge of static electricity, and errors are not well tolorated by sensivive microelectronics, but defintely is a feasible task for someone willing to learn and accept the risks involved.

However, finding a change of motherboard that is profitable is the problem. Your best bet would be to seek a donor used machine. If you want without the faulty gpu, you should look for a date code from 08/08 (August 2008) or newer. The previous codes have an extra chance of bad GPU, to reach 100%, if you come back enough months (some of this data is a bit "fuzzy" because I'm always looking for clarification on certain issues).

The best candidate for a donor would be one with a processor Penryn T8xx/T9xx of the models. They require a newer Board so there's an ot less with GPU defective.

You also have the option to get a faulty Council 'working '. Many are still in service, and it will remain so for years to come. A laptop that starts at the bios and has a screen broken for $30-50 would be a good candidate regardless of GPU, you want to get more experience and learning then you could buy for that price anywhere and "can" end up with a good system usable.

PS. During the last two weeks, I bought on the work unit complete with the date code 08/09 for 180usd in almost perfect condition and the other with the 08/08 which has 4 GB, 500 GB hard drive and the processor T9300 under 300usd, both are complete with good gpu systems, and the two combined are less expensive then a new motherboard. These offers can still be found if you know what to look for and exactly what questions to ask.

  • Laptop starts randomly (does not start first time)

I have the HP Pavilion tx1000 for 2 years, he worked normal since now. The problem is - computer laptop starts from the second, third or more times.  When I turn it on, only the led indicators start working drive and hard, but no initial priming and the white screen. Then I would do market and randomly, it starts normally. Then will he charge system works very well. I use Debian Squeeze OS, but think there regardless of the installed system. I think there BIOS problem or a power problem. I know it's hard to help me with this, but hope someone know approximate reason and do me a favor to give a hint.

    s/n {removed privacy}

Not exactly. The video chip is on what is called ball grid array. As the chip is overheating and cools down, the connections to the motherboard (i.e. Bay) become brittle and break off, so that there is no full contact with the circuit of the motherboard. It can be "reorganized" so that it becomes liquid and all connection again by applying heat evenly. The trick is to do it at the right temperature and to monitor the process. It can be done by the motherboard in the oven just cooking, but it is not reliable. It works best when you have real expensive equipment, but which does not improve with real expensive equipment?

  • Advice needed on improving the system

    Forum of expensive equipment,

I built a computer 5 years ago (mainly based on the advice of evil ) who has worked for me since then. However, I just built a system (small) (I5, MB: 6.0 Gb/s SATA gates, etc.) to a member of the family and it is so much faster that my old I took him wanted him and decided to upgrade my system.

    My current system:

      1. Motherboard: ASUS P6X68D Premium
      2. Processor: Intel Core i7 930
      3. Chipset: Intel X 58 / ICH10R
      4. Memory: 24 GB (DDR3)
      5. Graphics card: MSI GEFORCE GTX 970 (NVIDIA)
      6. Motherboard ports:
        • 6 x SATA 3.0 Gb/s at HDs 5 and 1 OD
        • SATA 6.0 Gb/s on front eSATA port
        • SATA 6.0 Gb/s to hot box switchable front panel

(The system is on an individual disk.  E and F are "Work" and "Scratch" each consists of two drives in RAID 0. All discs are 1 TB, SATA II).

    New system (I think):

      1. Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X 79 LGA 2011
      2. : Core I7 - 3930K Hexa-Core processor

Other components of the old system would be used.

    Issues related to the:

    1. This system would be "a lot" faster (not a specific question for a physicist ) than the current one?
    2. I would RAID?
    3. Would be the SSD anywhere (but not all!) in the system to fix even more?

    I would appreciate any advice.

    Thank you

    LACI.

Of course, it all depends on the budget available, but if I upgrade now an i7-930, these would be my main ingredients:

    • CPU: i7-5930 K or i7-5960 X. Not the i7 - 5820K as suggested above because of the limitation of only 28 PCIe lanes, which closes off the coast of expansion capability.
    • Mobo: Asus X99E-WS
    • Memory: GSkill Ripjaws 4 F4-2666, 32 or 64 GB
    • Disc of BONE: Samsung SM951 SSD, 256 GB m2
    • Extra PCIe card: card PCIe M2 Addonics ADM2X4 for
    • Media / disk cache: Samsung SM951 SSD, 512 GB m2

and continue to use the GTX970 and the current HDD on SATA 6 G ports. I would certainly like to overclock the CPU at about 4.5 GHz.

If you have still a few available budget, I would add that some Samsung 850 Pro 1 TB SSD on SATA 6 G ports for media and projects and delegate 1 TB for backup HARD drive.

That way you can later add another Addonics card when the Samsung SM951 NVMe m2 readers reach 1 TB of capacity and possibly a second GTX without running out of lane PCIe 970. If you were to go in the direction of 'cheap' with the i7 - 5820K, you would have used 16 (video) + 4 (m2), 4 (ADM2X4) = available 28 24 lanes PCIe, leaving no room for a raid controller or a second video card.

An i7 - 4790K is not an option, because it's only a 4-core, which is only marginally faster than the i7 - 930 (certainly not twice as fast, as claimed in the previous post), he is severely handicapped by only 16 available PCIe lanes used by the video card has no crack m2 on the mobo and you can reuse only 16 GB of your existing RAM except if you have sticks of 3 x 8 GB, in which case you would need one extra to get to 32 GB identical bar. 24 GB is not an option on a mobo 11xx due to the memory controller.
