Find the USB device

Hi all

I have a USB-6008 which plugs directly into a PC.  I'm building a box that has the 6008, for a client, and I will give them a labview so exe.  The exe will control the 6008.

When the 6008 more to the PC of the client, the 6008 could be dev1, dev2, dev3, etc., depending on the number of devices are connected to the customer's PC.  My labview program has to know the name of device to work properly.  How can I implement search routine that would find that the name of the 6008 is on the PC of the client?  If this is not possible, how do options in the control of device more descriptive name?  Thank you!

BTW, for the dashboard in the discussion Forum, how can I clean the topic I have previous posted?  The scoreboard shows that I have more than 2 pages, but I can get the rest of the pages.  How do I do that?

Yik

Hello Yik,

I built a quick VI to illustrate some of what my colleague has said. Basically, you use a system property node, found on the navigation features DAQmx Palette > advanced > system Set Up > node property system. The property that you want to use is Dev names. This will return a list of all the names of DAQmx device on the system. Now, if you run these through a loop for example, you can use a property node DAQmx Device to read the credentials for this device. Right-click on the loop for at the border and add a conditional Terminal loop for, this will allow you to leave the loop when you find the device that you want. You can then use the string concatenation function to add channels to your device name, and then you're good to go. I have attached the example below.

Now it's you, how you decide you have found the right device. While you can search for the Type of product I in VI, a problem arises if your customer is likely to have more than one USB-6009 in their system. The program stops at the first of she concludes, and if it is not yours, you have problems. Instead, it could be useful, if you know the unique serial number of the device you build in your Inbox, it might be better to use it to identify the appropriate device. Serial number is another property of Identification.

Kind regards

Frederic M.

  • Can not find the USB device on computer

I have a cell phone Samsung A680 I try to take pictures off. I connected the USB cord to the computer and it found and installed the drivers that I needed, but when I opened my computer, it doesn't appear there or on the lower right corner of the taskbar. Does anyone know how to find so I can remove the photos?

    Hello weinkermeyer,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

I have studied your phone, and Samsung, phone (A680) has no available connectivity options.
    http://www.Samsung.com/us/consumer/mobile/mobile-phones/Sprint-phones/SPH-A680SSSXAR/index.idx?PAGETYPE=prd_detail&tab=spec

What I would try, if you want to keep the pictures is picturemail just send to your e-mail address. Of course, depending on your phone plan, you will have to pay a fee in order to send the picturemail. If for some reason you cannot send picturemail to an email address, simply send to a friend or a family member who has a phone capable of connecting and downloading the pictures.

  • Error: One of the USB devices attached to this system has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.

tried already everything written here. When I plug my USB device (3 of them) my Windows a sad of the USB devices attached to this system has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. I tried plugging it into another winXP machine, it won't work. Can you help me?

    Original title: usb malfunction

    His salvation,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

    1. What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried so far?
    2. If it works much earlier? If so, did you do changes on the computer before this problem?
    3. What type of USB device you are using?

As you mentioned that the USB device does not work when plugged into a WinXP machine, it may be a problem with the device itself. In addition, the question may also arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or damaged or if your PC requires an update for problems that could conflict with a device USB and Windows.

Therefore, I suggest you try the following methods (skip the ones that you already tried) and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Please try the fixit (s) provided below which will help you solve common problems associated with devices and USB ports.

If method 1 does not work, try Method 2.

    Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

    1. Open Manager devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
    3. Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    4. Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
    5. Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

If the problem persists, go to method 3.

    Method 3:

This method will install the latest drivers from device to your USB device.

    1. Click the Start button, type Windows Update in the search box, and then click Windows Update in the results pane.
    2. Click find updates. When the scan finished, click optional review updates.
    3. Click the check box next to the update, and then click install updates.
    4. If you are prompted, read the license agreement, then click I agree.
    5. Follow the instructions on the screen to download and install updates.
    6. If you are prompted, restart your computer.

More information: Update a hardware driver that is not working properly

If the device fails after updating the driver, you can try to roll back the driver with its previous version.

Restore a driver with its previous version

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

I have a wireless printer not communicating with computer.  The directions said to go to the control panel and click on the bluetooth device, but I do not see a device on the control panel. Where can I find the bluetooth device?

One of reasons behind the first two questions of Vinod, is that not all computers have a Bluetooth built-in support.  Most modern laptops don't, but many computers to office, including the new ones, are not.

Do you know if your computer has Bluetooth support? If you don't know, what is the brand and model of your computer?

If you have a laptop computer, is turned on Bluetooth?  Many laptops have a (often Fn + F5) switch that turns radios (Bluetooth or wifi) on and outside.  Check with your computer user Guide.

Please answer 4th issue of Vinod as well (brand & model printer).

  • received message one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned - help please

I received the error message one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfuctioned and windows does not recognize.  I removed the hub and got the same message when using devices directly into the computer.  I tested the devices on another computer and why have been recognized without problems.  I tried all the patches as in Device Manager, looking for the software upgrades etc.  Suspect that this has happened when a member of the family visit charge pictures from a flash drive to update his facebook site - I do not know if all programs have been loaded to remove/uninstall but do not know that it would have been the 26th Dec - please help

    Hello Ann,.

If it is a laptop computer, shut down Windows and remove the battery and the power supply of the PC.

Wait a few minutes, and then reconnect the battery and start Windows.

Plugin your device to see if it works, without the hub.

  • Error "one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it." when you connect Logitech M225

    Original title:

My wireless mouse works fine for the last 2 months, now, all of a sudden it doesn't work at all.

I get a windows notification that says-

"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it."

I have Vista 32 bit OS on my laptop.

My office has Windows 7 32 bit and I am able to use the mouse on this computer, then the M225 is not defective.

I tried to look for a download of update on the site of Logitech & only found:

6.32.20 set - point it did nothing to help.

I also tried to move the receiver to the other 2 ports USB w / still the same results.

Are there other downloads or solutions that will help w / this problem?

You can also try searching for devices strangers (with yellow symbols) in the Manager under the mouse devices and other pointing devices and other devices (if any). Right click and uninstall unknown devices. Then restart.

Also try the steps below to reset the power of USB:
    (a) the laptop off, unplugged from the wall outlet.
    (b) remove the battery for a few minutes, then reinstall it.
    (c) then restart the laptop.

  • Cannot find the specified device, path, or file. May not be the appropriate permissions for access you.

    Hey everybody,

I was running Windows vista professional for more than 2 years yesterday, I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled vista prof. (entirely new, different CD key). Everything works very well excenp for one thing - I had saved some of the programs and files on my external hardrive before formatting my laptop. Now, when I try to access these files I get the following msg-"cannot find the specified device, path, or file." You don't have permission to access them. ".
I am logged in as administrator.

Help, please. I reallly need the files.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hey Jihirshu,

    It looks like permissions.

Try this on one of the files on the disk to see if it allows you to copy the files.

1 right click on the file, then select Properties
    2. click on the Security tab
    3. click on change, in the name box, type "Everyone".
    4. in the boxes next to the permissions below, put 'Total control' for everyone
    5. click OK, and then close the dialog boxes
    6. try to copy the file that you just modified.

If the works above, you must change the permissions on all the files you want to copy.  Normally, you can just highlight all the and follow the steps above to change the permissions on all files at the same time.

I hope this helps if you find my answer was what you are looking for, please do not forget to click on the box "mark as answer" below!
