  • New processor for my OptiPlex gx270s

    Hello!

    I currently own a OptiPlex gx270s.

I don't want to buy a new computer, so I decided to get a new CPU, graphics card and hard drive

The problem is that I don't know what CPU, graphics card and the hard disk is Compatible with my motherboard (computer)!

    My specs are:

OS: Microsoft XP Professional 5.1 build 2600

BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS v1.10 A03

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 running at 2.66 Ghz

    RAM: Mb 2174

Graphics card: Intel 82865G Graphics Controller

    Sound: SoundMAX Digital Audio

Can you please tell me what CPU, graphics and hard drive can be put in this Dell OptiPlex gx270s?

I like especially the top processors of range (Intel i7 or i5), but computers that have it's expensive.

    Thank you

    QuattroBrain

    Hi QuattroBrain,

What form factor is your gx270s.

Your system does not support any i-series processor. Remember that your system is old, a few generations for the improvement of the performance will be limited at best. All new system, even a low, will run circles around your gx270s.

  • No Audio device - Dell Optiplex gx270s

I just installed XP - sp3 on a Dell Optiplex gx270s. The sound does not work.   There is no symbol of "speaker" on the taskbar.

I went to Device Manager and clicked on sound - nothing appears.

I went to control panel and under sounds he says no audio device.

I also checked the bios of the computer, 'her' is 'on' and 'speakers' were 'off' so I went that 'on' - but still no change.

I so appreciate the help - THANK YOU.

The Soundmax AC97 Codec driver is specific to the gx270s is not originally from the XP CD.

  • OptiPlex gx270s for Windows XP video drivers

I rebooted a boring optiplex gx270s with XP SP3 to replace another machine having for some reason to have XP on it (an old piece of equipment must be supported and has no drivers after XP).

In any case, I ran into problems that others have also and got through it, not seeing the network card or sound.   However, Device Manager does still no video driver.

When I opened the box, there is a Council of DVI that says:

    Silicon Image

Map of ADD sil 164 Carrera

    SIL - SC - 0034C Rev 1.3

Enter the number of inventory shows this machine originally shipped (guess that's the same still in the box) with:

    8M 206

Adapter, graphics, Digital video Interface, LPF-BRKT

Nothing else shows on the manifest of the video, but not sure how many configurations this box might be bundled with.  I really hate on port DVI port anyway as I have only something connected to the VGA.  I can install this driver if necessary but is really one does not like.

In any case, the XP Device Manager currently displays a yellow question mark for "Other devices" video controller (VGA Compatible).

Without a driver, I can not set the resolution what that went 640 x 480 (16 colors)

I tried to look at the list of drivers to guess the most appropriate one and I have tried the one below only because it didn't seem like a fix for something and he mentioned dual DVI/VGA in what is definitely what this box has.

    R253949.exe

    and it says:

    ATI 64 MB PCI-Express x 16 (DVI/TV-out) Radeon X 300 SE, 128 MB PCI - Express x 16 (Dual VGA or DVI) Radeon X 300, v.8.263.5.1 - 060607 a - 035600 C, A02 ATI 64 MB PCI-Express x 16 (DVI/TV-out) Radeon X 300 SE 128 MB PCI - Express x 16 (Dual VGA or DVI) Radeon X 300, v.8.263.5.1 - 060607 a - 035600 C, A02

In any case, running this program seems to basically just abandon (maybe because it wasn't the right one), but certainly does not solve the problem of not seeing a driver in Device Manager.  I even tried another install into a directory of the driver that was created.

Any ideas on what video driver must I use?   I can try them all, but have seen other posts about people getting into trouble when you use the opposite hole (vs DVI VGA) which became the 'active', one from the pilots.   Just thought I do it first.

    Thank you!

Silicon Image is not a card at all, it is a passage.

8M 206 is just an INTEL shipped to past DVI.

  • OptiPlex GX280 soundmax integrated digital audio failed, driver problem?

I have an Optiplex GX280 with soundmax integrated digital audio under Windows 7 SP1. Sound works fine for a long time, then more nothing. I uninstalled it, rebooted, Windows Update found and installed the same driver. Speakers using good reputation does not work. I tried to find a few smwdm.sys, NG. About to call it DOA, and order a PCI card, thought I'd give it a shot in the forum. Appreciate the help.

  • Computer sees no floppy and CD Rom/DVD player after change of motherboard of PC w / Windows XP SP3

After changing the motherboard on my PC, a Dell Optiplex gx270s Windows XP SP3, the computer (which also works fine) does not see the CD/DVD or floppy drives CD, DVD or floppy is inserted. (He sees not thumb drives). When I look under the hardware in the system, the floppy drive and the Cd-Rom are marked as +. All appropriate updates had been installed. These discs worked fine before the motherboard was changed. (It was done because the capacitors were bulging.)

  • Judgment of the thermal event. Don't restart windows xp

Dell Optiplex gx270s Small Desktop model, close. On restart, shutdown message was caused by a thermal event.
I replaced the fan and the heatsink, but I still receive the message.  All the posts on the software side say it is a hardware problem, but I can't windows to restart.  It runs for about 10 seconds then stops.  Cannot reboot in safe mode either, computer crashes, loading... mup.sys loading line by line.

    How to restart?

    Hi Phil_DellGX270,

Start your computer with a minimal set of basic devices as the mouse and keyboard and check if you can successfully start.

Try disabling the sound card and video adapter network adapter etc. of Basic Input/Output system (BIOS) and check.

Consult the manual or contact the manufacturer to do the same.

NOTE: Changing the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from configuration can resolved BIOS/CMOS settings. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • Need a driver for xp designjet 230 that works!

I have a hp Designjet 230.  I just bought a Dell Optiplex gx270s with XP PRO Service pack 3 in the hope of using this printer.  Windows supposedly has the right driver, but when the new hardware found box is in place, the result is a step to go. I downloaded the driver xp Hp PL532en, pointing the installation in this folder ends with a message "unable to install".  The search to the internet with the installation program does not work either.  This printer has always worked on xp.  What gives?

I'm sure that you read and followed all the instructions on the download page of hp (which curiously do not refer the wizard 'new hardware found'), but I suspect there's a bit more to this error message.  Could you please provide it in its entirety?

Windows XP includes drivers for DesignJet 230: one for (D/A1) and the other for (E/A0).

What happens when you follow this sequence:

    1. with printer and computer off, connect the printer to the computer (BTW, this printer connects using the parallel port - a connector 25-pin Centronics - OK?)
    2. turn the printer on and stabilize
    3. open computer and let stabilize.  Cancel the new hardware found Wizard opens.
    4. click on start > printers and faxes > add printer
    5. in the Add Printer Wizard, select "Local printer attached to this computer" and uncheck "automatically detect and install my plug and play printer."
    6. Select "Use the following port", then the correct port in the drop-down list (probably LPT1)
    7. Select the correct driver for the HP DesignJet 230
    8. finish the wizard.
