Freezing of the screen

Hi, Im working with a daily application on my mac. I have a Mac mini 2014. The problem started when the screen started to freeze. So I decided to turn off the computer with the power button. But, I've done this several times. I want to know if it's bad for the computer...

Or how can I do? Because I have a windows keyboard, so I can't close the application with quick access...

Thank you

Hello MVassia,

Thank you for your question in Apple Support communities. Looks like you have a problem with some app. I am pleased to offer you information about the Mac Mini and the screen freezing.

Since you are using a Windows keyboard with your Mac Mini, for forcing her quit an application, you must press the keys that correspond to the keys Mac: command-option-esc.

For your information, the windows key is used instead of the ⌘ command key. The alt key would be used for the option ⌥ key, and the key ESC would be the same. You want to support on windows, alt and esc keys.

You also have the option to press command-shift-option-ESC and hold it for 3 seconds just enforce before quitting. Is windows + shift + ⇧ - alt - esc for 3 second hand. Information from the keyboard Mac is in this help article: Mac keyboard shortcuts.

You can consult this article to help the application that freezes also: OS X El Capitan: If an application crashes or closes unexpectedly. If you can fix the gel application, you won't to restart the computer using the power button. You can also see if the application crashes in safe mode with this article help: try safe mode if your Mac does not start-up. See the section titled "If a problem does not occur in safe mode" If the application works normally in safe mode.

To answer your question about turing the computer off using the power button, which is supposed to be used as a last resort and it can cause the loss of any unsaved information. Instead, try to use the options provided above with your windows keyboard or options in this help article: Force an app to close on your Mac.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

OK, so I have the Toshiba Satellite L405D-11V, I had a breakdown, basically, the computer freezes at any time and the screen would go black, with the fan and lights still ongoing, this could be at the start, or a few hours using the laptop, so I decided to ring Toshiba technology support and they arranged for my laptop to collect and be expelled for repairs.

I was able to track repairs online via the tracking service and was able to see what they were doing to my laptop, he said that they have ordered a part, it was underway and the repairs are completed.

However, I got the laptop back today, I turn it on, all right, I start using the cell phone that everything is fine, so I decide to watch a video on youtube, and it freezes again, so I turned off now pressed the power button, hoping he wasn't that a large, I turn back to and load the video once again it freezes and the screen goes black again, after that whenever I am watching a video or a game, it causes the computer to crash and freeze as before the repairs. So there is always a mistake, but I'm not sure what to do

Its still under warranty, I bought the laptop from the Comet, but I really don't want to send the laptop for repairs again and find it comes back with the same fault, is it interesting sending distributed, maybe see if the comet will replace the laptop as its still less than a year to buy the laptop, or it'll just be useful to save all the hassle and buy a new laptop? If this fault happened to someone else, I could use you some help, and if someone could shed some light regarding what could be bad?

    Hey Buddy,

You changed something on the configuration after you got your notebook back from repair? You update a driver, or something else?
What operating system you use on your L405D satellite?

To be honest it is really hard to say why it happens because technicians test to check if your laptop is running correctly.

In my opinion you should try to update the display driver. Maybe it's the origin of the problem of s
If this isn't the case, I recommend installing Windows from Toshiba Recovery disk to restore to factory settings. These parameters are pre-tested by Toshiba and should work.

    Hello

I recently bought a SP6000 second-hand advertised as having "graphics problems". After 10 minutes or use the laptop freezes and the screen has a strange random pattern all acorss it. The speakers are also a strange hum. I have to stop the laptop and restart.

I've updated the bios and drivers for card video from the toshiba site, but he always does. Can anyone help?

    Hello

It's not easy to say why this problem occurs. You have purchased a second hand unit. It is possible that your device has a hardware malfunction, but I can't give you an answer why it is happening. I suppose that temperature increases after 10 min of use.
Maybe this could be a problem. It could also be a fault of the motherboard. But these are just suggestions. In my opinion, you should ask the service for detailed information.

  • Mac Pro freezes on the screen saver 10.11.5

Have a Mac Pro and have a problem when the system freezes and locks up and must power cycle back.    He had related app so tested, but also happens with no apps running third and now thinking seems to be related screensaver.  I have turned off the screen saver and will see what happens now.  However, someone else has the issue of the screensaver crashing the OS X on a Mac Pro to 10.11.5?

No, I have not heard of this.

You do not all apps of third parties running in the foreground, but can still cause the problem. Boot in safe mode (hold down the SHIFT key when starting) and see if the problem persists when the screen saver is used.

  • 6910p hang/freeze on the screen of the POST to the linux reboot.

Hello, I'm new here, with a 6910p and a very specific question that's bugging me.

Laptop was purchased refurbished a few days with Windows 7 and works very well.

Almost immediately, I have installed Linux, try OpenSUSE, Ubuntu and Debian so far, and if I issue a reboot it always freezes at the POSITION screen, the one with the HP logo next. Stop down and cold boot however still works perfectly.

Restart the work as expected to Win XP, Vista and 7, but not Linux. Tried three different internal hard drives, flashed the BIOS six or seven times of XP and Vista (e.17 and F.19 versions alternating), and what annoys me more, is that I can't find an option in the BIOS to disable the HP splash screen and more I can not turn it off, I'm sure he's hiding vital information that lead to my success. I'm bugged.

I would like to know if you have any idea about this problem, I think if maybe that linux is not giving enough time for a device to stop and restart, or something on this line, but the truth is that I am lost on the high seas, and I fear that it might be a symptom of a defective hardware. Also give up on linux would be a bad option, because I need the multi-user environment, multilingual and virtually every machine other that I'm running a linux distribution.

And if you know how to remove the HP logo at the position screen, I would be grateful, it is possible on my pavilion desktop computer, but I can't find the same option in the BIOS of the 6910p.

    Lots of love

    Michael

Edit 1: Disable the BIOS flash card reader solved the problem. Now on to understand what Windows and Linux is not to make it work without restart was. Guess I still need to post on this forum to group ideas

Edit 2: card reader Flash active and empty does not restart. Compatible with a card inside will be bork. It's so much easier when you know where to look. Namely etc etc...

This mark as resolved: reboot did wait a few seconds so that everything has shut down, and discovered that there is no way to disable the HP logo at another startup then by modding the BIOS.

  • Freezes and the screen turns after stopping

    Hello

I'm having a lot of trouble with my iMac, Retina early 2015, and I can't understand what is wrong with it. The problem is that if I use the mac for a period of time, it can sometimes be almost a whole day, at other times, it may be an hour. It has all suddenly freezes them completely and the only way to get it to work is to make a difficult stop (hold the power button until it turns off).

But when I try to turn the screen does not light. And I still have to make a hard, sometimes stop, it takes about 5 - 6 times before the screen lights up. And if the problem occurred once and I try to use the Mac immediately after, it freezes in the first 10 minutes, and the whole procedure must be repeated for another 10 minutes of use. The only way for it to not freeze is if I use it for like a day, but it gives me only about 3-4 hours before the problem occurs.

I sent it to a repair shop for repair, I thought that maybe it's the hard drive. They ran a few test Apple and was told that it is not the hardware, but the software causing the problem. Then they plant restores and gives back to me. But it does not solve the problem.

Any thoughts on what could be the cause of this?

    Hello

A few days ago my laptop started to freeze. I noticed that the system recovery tool did not work either and now it's even worse. When I turn on my laptop

It goes back to a black screen and the freezer. I tried the recovery since the start of the loading system, but it just says loading files and changes to the screen of microsorf corporation and still works.

  • Vista freezes on the screen of closing

I'm having a problem with my laptop shutdown.
From what I understand, it is not a hardware problem. I can dual-boot Windows Vista Business or Linux Ubuntu 9.10, and I have no problem to stop under Linux. So the problem is located on the Vista partition.
It's probably not in the main files of Windows since I can always stop correctly on Vista Mode without failure.
So, it seems to me that the problem is in the supplementary programmes in my Vista. I searched the Web and found solutions like the registry to find errors in digitization and the system restore function.
The problem is that I already had my Norton 360 v3 scanner registry and found no errors. I can't use, System Restore because I turned off to keep my computer fast and light.
In Normal Mode, it stops properly until it reaches the screen "stop". Then, he works for a few seconds before freezing completely, forcing press and hold me the power button. But, I can continue to do this only if long before she starts to damage my hard drive.
What else can I do to fix this permanently?
    Thanks for your time.

    Take care

I can't understand how a clean boot will help you, but don't give the idea of 'expert' Microsoft Support engineer a shot if that's your desire.

If that you have on your system without stop stop OK, sometimes this can cause corruption in the filesystem NT (NTFS).

If it was me, I could run a check disk with error correction and see what it finds / corrections.  If there is nothing to do, then you have another problem, but I would start with this first.

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

Click OK and answer in the affirmative to the question about running chkdsk at the next system startup, and then restart the system and chkdsk runs.

I prefer to run chkdsk /r from the XP Recovery Console so you can see what he does.

You have a genuine XP bootable installation CD or you want to know how to make a bootable CD of XP (no XP media required) Recovery Console to run chkdsk /r from there?

    Here's how:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget what you have (no XP media required).

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD (do not install UniBlue or the Ask Toolbar - never!):

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

  • Bluetooth freezes when the screen turns off

Having a problem with the Bluetooth on my pre. I coupled it with a Plantronics Voyager 855. Initial pairing works very well, but after the screen on the pre turns off, the connection goes bad. When I turn the screen back on, the Bluetooth application on the phone always displays the connected headset, but it is not. If I try to play music, there is no sound, and if a call comes in, I can hear the person on the phone, and not on the helmet.

About 30-45 seconds after the screen turns off, I hear the high tone of the headset which means that it has lost connection. I don't think that the headset is bad. It worked very well with my previous phone.

If I have music when the screen turns off, the connection is very good. It's like, when there is no active communication between the phone and the headset, and the screen turns off, the bluetooth on the phone goes into a blocked State. I can restore the connection by turning off bluetooth on the phone and then on again. It reconnects to the helmet, until the next time the screen turns off.

I tried this to get a better idea of the problem...

If I remove helmet > disable bluetooth phone > turn on bluetooth on the phone > put the headset in pairing mode, it pairs fine.

If I remove helmet > disable bluetooth phone > turn on bluetooth on the phone > turn off the screen > wait 45 sec > turn on the screen > put the headset in pairing mode, then it does not.

Again, it is like turning off the screen causes the bluetooth of the phone hang. Given that the screen turns off fairly quickly, I basically disable bluetooth phone and back on every time I want to use it.

    Any thoughts?

My problem is solved.  Turns out that I had a defective unit.  He traded last night, and it works fine now.  Got the yellow box this time.  First of all, we had the black cover.

The swap was a little complicated.  I bought in a store of absolute Wireless in Garner, North Carolina.  It is a reseller of third party.  They did it to a Sprint service center to have a technician "certify" the default before they would replace it by car through the city.  And of course, the service center couldn't do the replacement, so I had to go back through the city to the point of purchase after they certified it.  Best of all, the procedure of "certification" involved explaining the problem to the technician for about a minute, she agreed with me that it was malfunctioned and his writing his employee with the ID on the back of a business card to bring back me to the first shop.  She has not yet turn the phone on itself.  She said pretty much the guy to the absolute Wireless has been a * beep * by sending me to it in the first place b/c, we could just do this by phone.  PITA BREAD.  But I suppose it is, that's what I to do not buy directly from Sprint.
