A good laptop for video game development?
I'm new to development and am looking for a new laptop that would work well for development. I know one a laptop is not the best option, but I need to be mobile because I tend to move around a lot. I'm looking for something under $ 1500. I need something that works well for making games indie and the latest software of the unit running. I would greatly appreciate all advice!

Flash Android games development
Hey guys, can someone help me?
I have a game project to build, but I have a question, I can build this game on actionscript 3 and port to android without problem?
I'm concerned about the performance, I heard bad things about adobe air.
I thought: I'm going native, but I know the time I'll get to finish that game, with android/java native will be long, but flash I know who's going to be fast.
So I want to know if someone with experience with flash android games can say something to me about it.

Flash does a good job of publishing for android. It's certainly easy.
so, my suggestion is to try it. to be sure, the android platform is much lower than the office you use to develop your android game, so you should test frequently on an android device.
and don't forget to use appropriately the cacheAsBitmap and cacheAsBitmapMatrix.

Why a game developer would opt for the AIR over the packer?
Developed Flash games for a while and considering trying some application markets.
Most of my games is point and click girls games, they would lend themselves environments-Flash.
AIR, Adobe offers what is called «Packager for Iphone» One of the advantages - from my point of view - which is seems to be compatible with IOS versions prior to the 3gs. What are the benefits of AIR conditioner in developing applications for the iphone?
Packager for Iphone * IS * Adobe Air. It's just the beta version of this CS5.5 offers for ios development. Simply create your flash game and select iphone Packager as your editor instead of your standard air deployment.
If you target air 2.6, you will not be able to deploy the iphone 3g or ipod 2nd generation and below. Air 2.5 * will * be able to target these.

The game seems to install ok and plays normally up to a certain level. At a specific time in the 'campaign', the game crashes and the computer returns to the office. An icon appears on the compatibility of the parameters. In the meantime, contact the game manufacturer and check if the game is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit edition.

I have an Asus U50 brand new and some of the games I have are late when I play. The games are Blacksite Area 51, Wheelman, and Prototype.
I have all the latest updates on the computer.
I was wondering if you could help me and try to solve this problem, please.
First of all, if you try to play a game as a Prototype, then you should have received a more powerful laptop (or rather office). The video card you have (NVIDIA GeForce G 105 M) is not exactly a powerhouse. Newer games that you have to run it on probably the smallest settings to not lag and I'll make sure nothing else is running in the background. Anything either from a web browser for Windows gadgets can significantly affect your performance probably.
You can try to update your drivers from the manufacturers site (or NVidias site) to see if that helps. Not much else you can do, unless your manufacturer will replace your video card for you.

HTML5 game development - I need direction.
I'm about to embarck on a project for the PlayBook.
I intend to make a player two (or more) quiz game and seem to be getting lost in the H3LL coding!
In fact, my game will be a series of separate screens (episodes, chapters, etc.), although most use the same background.
- I need to be able to animate the text to some degree and will have a clock countdown partition.
- At some point, there will be a need of entry more than just "A, B, C or D", although it would amount to not much more than a string.
- Sometimes it will be more than one audio clip playing simultaneously (I can do this?), for example: audio ambient and audio response to entry.
- Sometimes a picture will turn.
My question is this: keeping things as simple as possible, should I use canvas? Flash? or HTML and JS? I am a nood to coding after the occasional web page and are currently learning the basics of javascript. Help!
If you have audio complex, I suggest use you a tool kit to take care of her, you will save probably some problems

After Effects with game development
My partner and I are creating a game in Java. We used After Effects to create animations and export them as png sequences. Part of the reason why I use AE is so that I can get really smooth animations. Well, we did the procedure traditional sprite sheet with the png, but there are many and our graphics are HD. Loading time got out of control.
My question: is there a generally accepted approach to implement AE animations in a game engine (our supports keyframe animation, btw) without doing it just on a frame-by-frame? As a way to simply give the engine the layers of the project as well as the indications to animate the AE? In this way, that we would not have so many images.
Yes, you can create animations in AE and then export processing its data to use in your game engine, as long as you use images png and any transformation which can be converted into a transformation matrix. Native development of the game on BB Playbook

I just downloaded the SDK Tablet of BB and BB Playbook emulator (which works really well by the way). So my idea was to develop a game on BB Playbook. My first question would be:
- I have seen that the native SDK works with OPENGL ES. Is there any recommended gamedev framework take care of BB Playbook on native game development?
- When you create a new project on the SDK, there are several models, what should I use?
- When I choose the OpenGL ES model, it is only available on C, not C++, why?
- Is - this all start on development of game for Tablet BB guide?

While documentation needs some cocos2d entry, itself has a lot of examples and references there, the test suite is good and it is not difficult mentally jump any cocos2d objc examples x - equivalent.

Performance of the game on Satellite Pro P100-439

After paying a lot of money for this laptop, it's actually only worse typing Word-texts. There is almost no games that could be played on this laptop, nore wether Fifa 07, Fifa 08, wether Call of Duty 2 nore Red Orchestra (this list is in fact muuuuch longer), most of the time its simly to slow down. graphikcard 512 MB is not a lot if you cann't play anything. I have not now what to do... hope someone can help me, cause, I'm with my nerves on the end.

Well, if you bought this phone especially for a game I recommend the installation of Windows XP with the latest graphics drivers and then to try to play all the games.
