General BIOS dm1z

No computer problem, looking for information.

A recommendation of the BIOS update came on my dv7 and dm1z shortly after getting them. The used InsydeFlash, the dm1z dv7 used a utility of the HP BIOS. Two updates went well. I've updated the BIOS dm1z a second time by the recommendation of an HP tech (via the forum) to try to solve a problem of QuickWeb. Yet once, it well and in all these cases, I saw the BIOS version and date had changed.

Last night the HP update box asks if I want to stop now or later for an update, and after clicking on now an another update of BIOS began. Still, everything was fine, but after I noticed the BIOS version and the date had not changed.

Was the pointless update, perhaps because I had already updated the second time?

Many people write that they "bricked their computer" or they never would update a BIOS. Many other people say never had a problem with a BIOS update and that it is not the same as the early days of personal computers. It seems that a lot of the old used the wrong version of BiOS, or was not related to the external power supply.

What risk is involved in a BIOS update?

That's exactly what you're supposed to do when it comes to the BIOS, is read in what concerns the update and decide for your self good _ for you. 99% of people do not read what they are for.

If HPSA updates the BIOS while on battery the actual installation of update should catch it, the keyword there being "ought."

I don't know what Intel Anti Theft technology isn't either, but I think it's a way to track your machine if it is stolen.

Might be interesting to Google it.

  • Update the BIOS F.61

I received an alert of Routine HP indicating that there is an update of the BIOS available F.61 to select ProBooks.  My ProBook s 4525 was in the included list.  The details, said the upgrade "improved safety UEFI EDK2" and "HP highly recommends the transition to this BIOS version update."

When I clicked on the link for my laptop selected my OS (Windows 7 Pro 32), then clicked on BIOS, it showed was F.60 Rev.A, 30 November 2015.

Where can I find the BIOS F.61?

    Thank you

Thanks webber60 and SgtSQL - it's good to know I'm not the only one.

I'm disappointed HP has not responded to this, to say the Routine original email alert erred, or answer the question where upgrade the correct BIOS could be found, or to ask us to wait so that it can be displayed.

I just followed the link in the alert Routine again, by clicking through the many pages and found that there is a new update of the BIOS available; not the F.61 mentioned, but F.62 Rev.A, dated 3 June 2016.  I got without further notice from HP; I just went and looked again.

There are other questions about upgrades to the BIOS on the forum, with answers from HP generally recommend not upgrading unless it's to solve a specific problem.  In this case, I'm going to upgrde to the new BIOS Rev.A F.62 due strong recommendation of the Routine alert mentioning the improvement of safety.

Thanks to HP for the BIOS update available

  • Yet WT8-A-102 stops suddenly and updated the BIOS

I bought a Toshiba still WT8-A-102 (not part no PDW09E-00100EEN) to the end of 2014. I upgraded from Windows 8 for Windows 10 Home Version 1511 without any problem in 2015.

I use it for a limited number of applications - Office365 and navigation, generally with Chrome and Hola VPN to access certain geographically limited websites, for example TV channels, watch movies and content recorded from my TV (these are generally. TSV format); I run the free version of Malwarebytes and AVG anti-virus.

I have two problems I can solve t.

    1 stop abrupt

For a few months now, it always turns off suddenly, always exactly 30 minutes after the start. There is no warning, the screen goes black and that s it. You can immediately restart and continue as before, but the same thing will happen again after another 30 minutes. It happens that it s plugged in or on battery power.

I can find no reason for this. For example:

    • It didn't happen when I've upgraded to Windows 10 but a few months later.
    • The battery does not turn down.
    • The Tablet does not heat.
    • It occurs regardless of whether you ve been using the Tablet constantly for 30 minutes or simply turn it on and let it idle.
    • Sleep and stop times are set to one hour.

I ve looked at event viewer and the only things there are a few system errors showing which means nothing to me (a server is not registered within the required). Certainly, there is nothing that happens in the few minutes before it turns off suggesting a reason.

    Any ideas please?

    Update 2 BIOS

I ve installed the different Toshiba updates available for this model. However, the update BIOS doesn t work. She is currently the version 1.60. I ve downloaded the version 1.80 for this model on the desktop. The zip file is bios-20150722112320. I extract it and it starts the process. The Tablet goes on to say it's reboot and then a panel will appear that says:

    InsydeH20 Flash secure
    Invalid firmware image!
Press any key to reset the system

It s a Tablet! While they want me to? I ve you press buttons - Windows and volume - but nothing happens. If I just leave it, it turns off after 30 minutes and we re back with BIOS version 1.60 and I can work as usual.

Although this seems excessive, but suggestions please?

Thanks a lot for any advice,
    John

It seems that your problem is similar to mine. I'm having the same random stop downs https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread...-Error-Code-10 also I have an error code 10 in Device Manager. The agenda called "Intel Trusted execution engine Interface"... are you facing the same error?

I sent my tablet at the service of Toshiba, it has been over a month now and still waiting to be informed about the problem!

    Hello Phil

Now, I found this interesting thread on your problem. What is find a solution?
If nothing helps remove SSDS, set the BIOS settings by default (if you enter it again) and put the old HARD drive.

General SSDs should be recognized correctly and there is not a big problem with these updates.

Can it be updated by myself, without having to refer to an ASP, as it is not worth the money if I do. I want to just use this as an additonal PC for my daughter.

No doubt I should be able to update the Bios from a download or something from the toshiba support site.

    Any help appreciated.

I found a utility to Update DMI PC Toshiba laptop Toshiba U.S. page.
    You can try this
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/downloadDetail.jsp?soID=1008299&PF=true
But generally, this should be done by a Toshiba ASP so if the utility would not help you, you will need the assistance of a Toshiba ASP.

    Hello

    This laptop supports Phoenix BIOS.
You use a google for Phoenix beep codes for details on the meaning of the code.

But in General; the code means that an error has been detected on the motherboard. The POST (power on self-test) cannot be passed.
Theoretically, it may be a RAM issue, but it's just a suggestion.

  • NB305-442BL - problem with BIOS

    Hello friends

What happens is that while the mother this screenshot blue machine and since that has begun since I did a BIOS update, it comes to update the BIOS for NB305 netbooks, but it seems I'm wrong on the model already I noticed that the machine was a 442BL, may be able to correct for the machine for me BIOS no problem , or there will be a form any of the decommissioning of the BIOS of the machine to which I had before giving problems, greetings

    Post edited by: Fercheins

    Hello

First the NB305-442BL is not known to me, I googled for this model number and cannot find a template containing this serial number. What NB305-xxx you have exactly?

Secondly, I think that the BIOS is not the problem here. Generally it should be impossible to upgrade the BIOS if you want to use the version of the BIOS is not compatible.
Usually, you should get a message saying that the BIOS is not compatible during the updating procedure and the update procedure should be cancel automatically.

In your case, I recommend the BIOS to default settings. Access the BIOS by pressing F2 for the BIOS settings. Here, press F9 for default settings, and then save changes F10 before you exit the BIOS.

In addition, the BSOD can be caused by software problems. Perhaps the system is confused to have you tried a fresh install of OS to make sure that the BSOD isn t caused by the failure of the system? Would be worth a check.

  • HP Elite 8200 CMT: Bios Update after the update of Windows 10

Hello, I've updated my HP Elite 8200 CMT from windows 7 to windows 10.

In the HP driver download page, there is no updated BIOS for windows 10.

But I noticed that it is has updated BIOS for Windows 7.

The question is, can I use it on Windows 10?

And generally to load OS updates to the BIOS?

    Hello:

You can remove the base flash BACK of the package of BIOS file folder, simply copy the contents of the file flash BACK on a USB stick formatted with the FAT file system.

Plug in a USB flash drive, restart the PC, press the ESC key to get the options menu.

Select F10 system configuration to access the BIOS.

Select the file menu > control system ROM Flash.  Select the USB flash drive.

The PC will see the files on the flash drive.  Follow the instructions to update the BIOS screen.

In this way, it makes no difference what operating system you are running.

I use v2.28 on my HP 8200 Elite CMT and have no problem at all on W10.

I have read that post and decided to not update the BIOS to v2.29.

  • Satellite Pro U500 - update the BIOS does not start on Windows 7

Try to update BIOS on Satellite Pro U500 PSU9CA. The download site says there is a new version available, after that download and run the program nothing happens. You can see the Winflash process in the Task Manager but it never appears"". If this has yet been tested by Toshiba?

There are no instructions, no readme or whatever it is.

Did somebody get the BIOS update?

    Hi torana.

As far as I know Toshiba always test their drivers or updates tools before they will be released and I have never had a problem with the new updates, so I think that the problem is lreated to your laptop, maybe something wrong with your installation.

In General before you start the update of the BIOS you have to decompress all the files in archive zip and launch the update as an administrator.
Also make sure that the value added package is installed and no firewall is not blocking the update program.

  • Portege R100 and Linux - function keys not working do not and the latest version of the BIOS?

    Hello world

I have a Portege R100 (PPR10L-13G10P). I am trying to install Linux and when you try to access function keys (F6) the computer does not allow me to... no idea why?

Also, what is the latest version of BIOS for this computer? And where it can be downloaded?

    Thanks in advance!

    Terrence

    Hello

At first, I must say that Toshiba doesn't support Linux in general if you are alone with this problem.
I hope that someone will be able to help you a bit.
If you want to discover the latest version of the BIOS, just enter the BIOS settings and check it out.
BIOS version latest won't help you at all, so my opinion is that you shouldn't change anything.

Anyway, the bio download page is - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_bios.jsp

The feature keys F is supported by special tool Windows and it only works on Windows.

    Thank you

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

    No, no need to worry.

Updated the BIOS/UEFI is not a critical task and I would say that you leave like this for now.

General recommendation I provided to users/customers is NOT to upgrade the BIOS/UEFI, unless they live any sort of BIOS/UEFI problem specific. Just for updaing and update just for the use of the latest verson is not the solution. Any type of update (no matter what and that relesed it) can solve 2 problems but can introduce more than 10 questions. In addition, upgrading the BIOS (for any provider) are risky more because the BIOS recovery is not that easy compared to updates of typical software IF something goes wrong.

Update/update IF you have any specific questions that you know have been fixed in the new version or for some serious security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible.

    See you soon!

  • Satellite A350 - 22Q - BIOS update crashed

I have a big problem because of Toshiba update official Bios for the A350 models.

After downloading & unpacking of the Bios Update WinPhlash just started upgrading the Bios without PROMPTING. This is NOT acceptable! After 10 seconds or if the laptop froze just straight up. Stayed that way for 3 minutes or more. The only way to turn it off was by removing the power cord & battery. Cranking up again gave me nothing but black screen.

I tried various recovery options, for the most part Phoenix crisis disk Build. But unfortunately no luck.

Calling customer service of Toshiba (Netherlands) is not really useful at all. Tell me a bios update is not a smart thing to do. My answer-> then why you put it on your website and an update of the BIOS is sometimes necessary for the upgrade of the machine. After that the guys asked me to send the laptop to a notoriously bad service center (for laptops) DYNAFIX. Of course I wouldn't do this if I don't want my laptop is still more damaged.

Now I probably have to replace the BIOS chip. It will cost me my own tithe that my laptop is no longer guaranteed.

I'm very angry at Toshiba to put such a method of updating the dangerous bios on their website. I am an advanced user and rarely have questions, that I can't fix on my own. BIOS updates must be made in the DOS environment, not with WinPhlash Windows.

If Toshiba or anyone who believes that it was my mistake, by all means try it yourself. Also google the problem, you will see tons of users of Toshiba laptops posted on the forums with this problem of WinPhlash.

Please Toshiba, remove or change the bios update and find a solution for the customer to chip away at. I'll be happy to hear from you with a solution.

    Hey Buddy,

I'm sorry to hear that, but I must say this can happen from time to time. Nobody is perfect, also no perfect software. But may I ask why you updated the BIOS?

Of course, in some cases, it might be necessary, but to be honest, if everything worked correctly in the past and you didn t have any problem I n t see a reason to make such update. Your laptop will not work faster with the new version of the BIOS, it s a little bug fixing but that doesn t mean that each update of the BIOS needs to be done because nobody uses really all the functions of the laptop.
As is the saying: never touch a running system! ;)

If you make an update of the BIOS, check the following things before:
    -Disable the antivirus and firewall
    -Close all running programs
-Make sure that you are logged on as an administrator
-Unzip all files from zip archive

I made such a function BIOS update Windows 5 times now and everything worked and no problems at all. Update was made in a few minutes and laptop restarted correctly. After updating the BIOS that I loaded the default settings to ensure that the new BIOS settings are correct.

In any case, now it s too late and your only option is to reflash the ROM module as MannerhagenVPO has already written. This can be done a service allowed because they have special tools for this case and specially designed for this model of laptop. With these tools, they can recover the BIOS and bring your laptop to life.

Then get in touch with the guy and ask for help. They can help you get rid of this problem.
Moreover, I don't see a reason why Toshiba should remove this BIOS update. All updates will be pre-tested if they work or not. Also from my own experience, I can say that the updates are always ok and don t causing problems.

I think that you you will find similar discussions on failure update BIOS when using Google, but who cares? Can you tell us that these users quite correct (closed antivirus, firewall, etc.). I doubt that
The next point is that you will also find these Google results if you search for other models from other manufacturers of portable computers. This isn't a matter of Toshiba, it s in general risk of update of the BIOS and no one can give you a guarantee that this update will be correctly. :)

    Good day!

  • Satellite A660 - boot problems USB after BIOS update

    Hello

I own a Toshiba Satellite A660 and have recently updated the BIOS with the latest version (1.80). Since then, the laptop freezes on the splash screen (the one with the Toshiba logo) whenever a USB flash memory is attached.
It works without the memory flash connected and if I connect it after I enter the starting or the BIOS Setup menu. I can even start her like that.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a serious regression. Is there a way I can downgrade to the version of the BIOS, or any other way to solve this problem? I rely heavily on external USB drives.

    Kind regards
    Claudiu.

    Claudiu salvation,

That is really interesting, I have to say so I tested on my new Satellite A660 and Transcend 4 GB USB Stick. Well, I also installed 1.80 BIOS but I can t view this problem HARD drive is set as first boot device and all the other BIOS settings are default. The Toshiba screen and Windows computer starts as usual.
    No problem at all!

Have you tested different USB devices?

In General, it is not possible to downgrade BIOS. It is possible to an authorized service because Toshiba on page you can download the latest version only but I doubt it s a bug in the new version of BIOS because it works on my A660.
