Get screens blue & sudden reboots / crashes since Samsung SSD

Earlier this year, I added a Samsung EVO 120 GB SSD to try and speed up my old XPS to 5 years (435/9000, i7 920 2.7, 12 GB RAM) a little. I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but since then it seems that I get lots of crashes, the sudden reboots and blue screens.

When I installed the SSD, I was unable to take advantage of the faster Sata III 6 GB connection as I only have the Sata II 3 GB connections.  I went with a clean windows 7 install with factory DVD and reinstall all my programs.  I bought a Sata III gear for her card but the not installed yet, as I was very pleased with the increase in the speed of the SSD being, particularly when editing and rendering of video files with Sony Vegas.

Besides that the SSD, I also use the original WD 1 TB drive, as well as 2 TB WD Green and a WD 2 TB black discs for four units in total.

I wonder if anyone has experienced this or something like it after having put an SSD in.  The problem seems weird, sometimes it will start beeping like crazy as a key is stuck down, other times I just totally lose control of the mouse and the keyboard & have to turn off hard - and other times I get a blue screen or a random reboot. Sometimes it starts up fine and it is very good for once, either short or long, sometimes, he invites me to do a startup repair and still gives me errors. Sometimes it will work fine for an hour or and other times, I can work all day on it without any problem.

Ran the dell diagnostics and everything seems ok, as well as diagnostics of Samsung that came with the SSD. The only thing I have not tried yet is a total power down, IE the battery etc & totally disconnect power.

I tried booting from the original OS disc and was able to connect to the old installation very well, but I still get the occasional BSOD and freeze with this method too, but they seem a lot less frequent.

I wonder what it is and where to look. Is this possible with the three HARD drives and SSD I overloaded the hardware?  Maybe I need a bigger power supply?

I was wondering if it is the motherboard, but what's so inconsistent?

I know that 5 years is a very good life to get it from a desktop computer, but it is still fast enough for most of what I do and I would get at least another year out of it.

I ran many utilities including the latest from Dell, yet not irrefutable.

I am open to all suggestions and advice.

Would help if you post the exact text of the BSOD.

This could be a problem of heat with all players in there? Have you looked into the Windows around the time of an accident event viewer to see if there is something useful, for example "thermal event"? No event does not mean that it didn't happen.

You might want to consider removal of the heatsink and the application of fresh thermal paste (for example, Arctic Silver) in the case where the old dough dried after 5 years and all that heat. Or maybe install a fan in the face of the video card slot, assuming you have any room left inside the case.

    Since installing windows, I started getting blue screens of various types. Here are some blue screens I have met:

When these blue screens occur, some remain on the screen, while other flick on briefly and the computer begins to restart.

    On top of these blue screens, I also sound experience breaks down in loop in games. These experiences are breakers occur anywhere from 5 minutes to more than two hours of play.

    In the first dealing with this issue, I decided to test the memory with memtest86. A test actually froze on me. A second test showed no problems. Because of the freeze, I took a bit of ram to see if there could be a problem with some of the sticks is bad. Low and here are the problems disappeared. For a period of time. Some games have kept crashing on me, while others have worked without a hitch. I will mention that a game (World of Warcraft) seems to have more memory than others still ran without encountering any problem later.

    Because of all the questions, I decided to reformat/reinstall windows to make sure that everything has been installed correctly. Right out of the door, it began freezing at all normal intervals.

    I have this post is because I am curious about how of course, I can be that these problems are caused by a single hardware issue (I think I'm the ram). I ask because DDR2 Ram is cheaper and my motherboard will not support DDR3. However, if I buy the overvalued price DDR2 and it does not solve the problem, then it ends up being a pretty big money sink.

    Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Computer update downloaded vista crashed all I get is blue screen please help!

    I downloaded an update about 4 days on my daughter's computer. Now, Vista does not load, I get a blue screen saying Windows has been shut down to avoid damage to the computer, it gives an error 0X0000C1F5 shutdown more it give fixing options like Unplug appliances and start in safe mode, but none of it works. I tried all the options in the F8 menu, I tried F12 and I also tried to use a new Windows Vista disk to start. I also ran the repair of the system and checked every option it gives under the menu in advance. Someone please help me I am at a loss. How an update to do this. I know that this is not a virus, because I did an audit of security with CA and done a defrag through the system until I installed updates. It was my weekly check for the computer that day.

    In addition to what said Gerry, I would do this:

    Because the Microsoft Answers forum doesn't want any kind of information system when a new question is asked, we know almost nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

    We know that you have XP Pro and 1 GB of RAM.  It's not enough information.

    Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

    Provide information on your system, the better you can:


    What is your system brand and model?

    What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

    What is your Internet browser and version?

    Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

    The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

    The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

    You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

    Do you see that you think not you should see and when you see it?

    If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

    Your system seems to start OK and then crash or didn't he start not at all?
    Can you make the system crash when you want?  For example, you would say that there is no specific system activity that coincides with the accidents (like watching videos, playing games, etc.).

    The next time your system crashes, provide more information on what you see.

    Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:
    Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).
    Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.
    If there is a name of the file listed in the STOP message, don't forget to include this information too.
    Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you.  We know what a BSOD looks like, we need to know what your BSOD looks like.
    Now provide more information about your system and data against more recent accidents.
    Click Start, run and enter in the box:
    Msinfo32
    Click on OK and when the system info summary appears, click on Edition, select all, copy, and then paste the information here.
    For information about video drivers, expand components, click view, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information here.
    There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.
    This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.

    Unzip it and run it (BSV installs nothing) and let him complete the digitization of all your crash dump files.
    If you double-click on depressed, you will get information on it (including the field caused by the driver) and you should be able to spot the problem right away - especially if you see a model in landfills where Caused by field pilot is the same (beginning with this driver).
    BlueScreenView tries to find the right driver or module that caused the blue screen by looking inside the stack of the accident.     You will need to either pick up some example crashes over and look through them, or find somewhere the XP files are not the 'cause' or you can upload your files to your SkyDrive crash dump and someone with the windows debugging tools can help take a look at them more closely.

    Select (highlight) one or more of the most recent dump files by clicking on them and hold down the CTRL key to select multiple files.  Try to select only the most recent links that relate to your problem (perhaps five or six to start dump files).
    Click on file, save selected items and save information from the dumps to a text file on your desktop called BSOD.txt.

    Open BSOD.txt with a text editor Notepad, WordPad, etc.), select all (Ctrl-A), copy all the text in the Windows Clipboard (Ctrl-C) and paste the text to the Clipboard (Ctrl-V) back here in your next reply.

    Send information BleuScreenView of 5 last memory dumps (if you have 5 dumps memory yet, send the most recent, you).
    While you wait, please follow these steps:
    Perform scans for malware, and then fix any problems:
    Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

    Restart your computer and solve the outstanding issues.

    It is sometimes easier just to download the memory dump files since your last breaks down on your SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).   So can someone who already has Windows debugging tools to look at things and understand what is happening.

    Dump memory of recent crashes and BSOD files are usually in this folder:

    c:\windows\minidump

    The files will be named something like this:

    Mini120311 - 01.dmp

    You need to download the latest... maybe 5-10 of the most recent crash dump files should be sufficient if you who have a lot.  If you do not have that much, send what you have.

    Thank you very much for your answer, but I have read far more after my post and understood how to correct the problem. Microsoft has created two UPDATES of BAD August 27. in safe mode and I went to my control panel, see updates, uninstalled the 2 bad edits. I don't remember the exact numbers, but one was 36xx and the other was 29erxx.  Now, my computer is fine. If anyone who reads this message is having the same problem, go to the blue screen and updates of messages to read on how to solve the problem.

    How is BTW, that microsoft has put 2 updates of bad anyway? You should be ashamed for causing problems for your customers!

    Finally, check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help
    identify the device or driver that generated the error. Disable the cache in memory of the BIOS
    could also resolve it.

    The procedure:

    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another location (temporary) somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the contents of this folder
    * Please upload to a service like "Rapidshare" to share files and link to them in your answer.

    To ensure the minidumps are enabled:

    * Click Start, in the search box, type: sysdm.cpl, press ENTER.
    * On the Advanced tab, click Startup and recovery... Settings button.
    * Make sure that automatically restart is unchecked.
    * Under the writing debugging information header, select image partial memory (256 KB) in the list box drop-down (varies from 256kb).
    * Ensure to that small Dump Directory is listed as % systemroot%\Minidump.
    * OK your way out.
    * Reboot if changes have been made.

    Try to remove a side panel and a fan of big sector directly to the motherboard and GPU.
    Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to check whether the cooler temperatures make a difference.

    If so, it could be as simple as dust accumulation and inadequate cooling afterwards.

    All the drivers are up to date and they have been reinstalled twice on my video card. Fusion driver even used to be sure he was nothing before you install the latest drivers, currently (as of this post), the most recent is 304.79.

    I do believe that it is a heat problem that nothing under load exceeds 51 c.  The error code is consistent.

    Restored 301.42 pilots and the error occur again, and that's what I got after a hard reset.
