  • hard drive test failure

Hello, I receive the text next message when I swtich the laptop on:

"SMART hard drive control has detected an imminent failure. To ensure no loss of data, please save the content immediately and run Diagnostics in the Testin hard drive system.

    "Hard disk 1 (301).

When I run the hard drive test in the diagnostic system, this appears:

    "Road test: 1."

    HDD SMART Check: FAILURE

    FAILURE ID: PTR04C-6LD763-MFPWWJ-60VF03

    Hard drive 1

    "Test drive: FAILED.

When I start the laptop works fine, internet and all other devices work, scanning local disk C: and D: Recovery detects any errors. I tried to update it, but the message still appears.

I wonder what may be the problem, any suggestions?

The laptop never gave me a prblem to date, I bought it a year ago, last week I had to change the DVD player, which was the only change I had to make. After that, I started to have problems with him, like blue screens, indicating "Critical process is dead" and "kernel data page mistakenly".

I also CD/DVD given to me at the time of the purchase, which I think are necessary for backup and recovery, but I don't know how they actually work.

    Thank you.

  • Hard drive test failed on HP Pavilion dv6-1100eo laptop computer

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-1100eo Entertainment Notebook PC (P/N: NR597EA) with Vista 32 bit.  Unfortunately no guarantees left in, and in general I was very satisfied with this laptop.

But suddenly Wondows would not start up - and it has yet to start Recovery hard disk partition. As I didn't know if this start was on hard drive or not - I ordered the DVD of recovery system for this version of Scandinavian language.

These discs didn't work - so I thought that I probably did not my homework before ordering these disks.

So I ran Diagnostics System (even if I have an older version of BIOS F.03).  On the diagnostics - test hard drive fast and complete failed during the first 1% analysis.

Is there something that can be done - or is the only option new hard drive? In the case - the what hard drive is recommended is too cheap - because I don't want to invest too much in a book soon 3 year.

Recently I have bougth an external hard drive (1 TB) based on the USB connection. That allows bypassing the HD internal. In this way I would increase HD capacity and not invest more in this notebook - since I already have the recovery DVDs

It's probably a matter of time before I go buy a new HP laptop - that is why I don't want any long standing patch this problem.

    Hello

Sorry to say, but you won't be able to install or boot from external HARD disk Vista, so if you need to get the workbook, you will have to replace the internal drive.

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

    Hard drive 500 GB

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 57 of your maintenance & Service Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

  • HP mini 110 cannot use recovery discs - BIOS insists the hard drive test failed. Drive works on another computer.

My niece has a HP mini 110 that does not have a day. Do a check of the hard drive in the bios, it failed (7 on playback). I though I should get a new one so I ordered another. While waiting for that to happen, I had access to a usb SATA bridge and the opperating system was beyond repair and the unreadable disk from HP mini, I decided to try to repair the disk. So I reformatted the old disk using my desktop computer. Windows had no problem with the drive and it seems to work very well.

I also had to order the recovery disks (intro to windows 7).

In any case try to reinstall using the recovery via the DVD USB drive disks. It kept coming back with error 17 - I found a hard drive error. I also tried to install with a Windows XP installation disc and it was more explicit hard drive it said it had NOT installed it - or "it does not match the sheet material for unity" (or words to that effect)

To get the new hard drive - the same problem. Even if both of these drives operate as USB connected to my main desktop drives. SO my conclusion is that the BIOS start inspect the hard drive, check the configuration of the formatting. that is the size and the partitions etc. and when they do not correspond to the idea of BIOS of good care he rejects the hard drive and finds it is not installed.  Or maybe to do some files on the hard drive of base. Whatever it is, the bios concludes that there is no hard drive and will always return a "failed" to the hard drive of the bios test.

Any ideas on that? I need to know exactly which partitions are expected by the bios. Does anyone have these specs, or maybe you have a mini HP and can examine your hard disk and tell me the amounts of partition and the size?

Unless I can get the bios to recognize the hard drive, I don't see how I can reinstall the operating system on it. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    HI David

Well, I hope this is my last post here. I had already printed a return address for the recovery disks, being returned to the Netherlands. Just for the beggar of cast iron, however, I decided to try just once more would like to think that now that there is a kind of operating system on the hard drive it might work. But unfortunately still; no joy.

All this time I would be considered may not be something wrong with the external hard drive because it was no problem to start the installation of XP. So I was just wondering maybe it does not receive enough power (it is a slimline portable DVD player that gets its power from a second usb) so I made a DVD player external adhock using an IDE hard drive enclosure (which has its own power supply and an old internal DVD burner I had put aside.

To my surprise and joy; the HP mini started the recovery process. I am now watching reformat the windows partition and copy the files needed to restore the hard disk.

So anyone with a similar problem to the HP mini not recognize the recovery disks is my advice; try an another external DVD drive, preferably one with its own supply of.

Thanks for all your help and patience David.

  • Pavilion 15-p009tx: failure of hard drive test

Hello, I was using my laptop for about six months, and today when I tried to boot up the laptop, it would just show a blue screen. That's why I started dianosis and it failed hard drive DST test. Failure ID is 600ETA-7AX7L1-MFPV6K - 60S 503. Product ID is G8E21PA #ABG.
    Support will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Error code 24 characters for the drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

As your laptop is only 6 months old, it should still under warranty, so contact HP and arrange for the replaced disk - if necessary, you can check your warranty status.

  • Dv5 does not load Vista, failing hard drive test

I have a laptop HP DV5 with Vista - 2 years and more under warranty.  He had some problems with Windows Update error codes, I did a system restore to a point a little backward.  This does not solve the problem, so I tried to cancel restoring the system back to the State of our days.  This was fine, but then the system locked up when he tried to restart itself-it has attempted to restart for 45 minutes and got nowhere, so I turned off.  This throw Windows completely, as the system restore was not full yet, so now that my computer will boot the HP logo and start up options, but then get hung up trying to load windows (I have a black screen with a scroll bar down cycles endlessly with Microsoft Corporation written below)

Bottom line - I can't get the computer to boot windows, and system recovery does not work.  Tried directly from the hard drive and vain and ordered HP-put one disk disks this morning, once removed from the HP screen, I get the bar "Windows loading files" at the bottom, which ends in about a minute, but then it just goes back to its normal load upward, with the scroll bar and Microsoft Corporation at the bottom of the screen.  So I can't open basically even the system restore window.

I just ran the self-test of the primary hard drive and had hard disk Test do not.  I'm not particularly computer saavy (I didn't know that to do this test in reading this forum), if anyone can tell me what I should do next?  I don't want to go somewhere and get screwed!

    Thank you!

    -Becky

    Hi Becky,

The result of the primary Hard Drive Self Test means your hard drive is defective and must be replaced.  It is the HARD drive in my dv5.

    http://www.Amazon.co.UK/320GB-Scorpio-WD3200BEVT-SATA-5400rpm/DP/B0013E0A0M

Hard drive replacement is not difficult (generally remove two screws from the cover of the HARD drive on the bottom of your laptop, remove a futher two screws holding the disc in place then pulling on one leg to lift the reader.  Then unscrew the metal casing around your old drive - often called the caddy drive - attaching to your new drive, insert the new drive, fix it with two screws and replace the cover.  Then simply insert your recovery DVDs to load Vista on your new drive.  Here is a Youtube video showing this.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes

  • Hard drive test failed, not found boot device

I have a Pavilion dv7 1245dx with Windows Vista 64 bit bought 2009 at Best Buy.  He slid the arm of the couch on a carpet in stop down.  Next day started ok, entered into yahoo, facebook, then type of frozen.  Finally, don't do anything, turn off manually down, started upward. Black screen, "No. Bootable Device - Insert Boot disk and press any key". It will accept only the recovery disks that I made after the purchase. Starting test ok, ok, hard drive memory test failed 'Boot Drive not found'.  If it helps, caps lock is flashing.  I saw something in a forum on the reset or reinstall the hard drive but no explanantion how.  Can you help me?  And can you give me a ballpark figure on a new hard drive or better to buy a new laptop?  Laid off in Michigan, hoping to be able to get the unit up and running without having to consider.  Thank you very much for your help!

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

Can be found in Chapter 4, procedures for removal and replacement of hard disk.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01918142.PDF

If removing and reinstalling the drive does not resolve the problem, then the hard drive is dead.

I don't know what that means though the flashing light of caps.  This could be something more serious.

A new hard drive will cost about $57.00.

I hope the recovery discs, you did work on it as well. They should but no guarantee.

  • Error in the HARD drive test

    Hello

I have run Long DST test and test HDD failed.

    Failure of ID M4M5BW-6B879U-QFPK0K-61EC03

    Product ID C5D27ES

The laptop is slow and HARD drive is slow. Can you tell me what is the problem?

Whenever the drive test hard short DST fails with 24 error Code numbers indicating that the hard drive has failed and that needs to be replaced to solve the problem

HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:

Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.

Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds

Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)

Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

If the problem persists again please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files.
