  • HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless - bug Scanner driver - only on Windows 7 platform!

    Date:
    October 29, 2010, Roende, Denmark.

    TO:
    Hewlett-Packard
    Support / Department printer driver.

    From:
    Jesper Simonsen
    Denmark.

    Hello Hewlett-Packard

I have an error message you bringing on the
    HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless
Driver for Windows 7 printer platform.

This bug only exists on the Windows 7 platform
    and not on Windows XP.

I was hired to install the
    HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless yesterday.
I have installation, installed, set up the printer.
I configured the printer to run
    Wireless network with gateway router
SSID and WPA key and it went smoothly.
    I installed the printer for
    address fixed LAN IP 192.168.1.197
and I configured the gateway routers
DHCP pool to go until 192.168.1.195
for not to disclose the IP address of the printer.

On a new laptop Lenovo running Windows XP
running on the same wireless network that I installed
software of the printer from Windows XP/Vista driver disk provided.
It worked fine with functions of printer and scanner.
I could also press the Scan button the
the printer front panel and choose the laptop
and then the printer starts and automatically starts the scanner
software upward on the laptop. Thus, it works beautifully.

So I should install the printer on your desktop.
A new Lenovo desktop computer running Windows 7 32 bit.
This desktop computer also works on the same wireless network.
I installed the driver from the disk Windows 7driver to the address provided.
Installation may well see the printer on the wireless network.
I might send a print job to the printer.
    But it does not scan.

    I have tried both:

-To start a computer scan job.

The scanner respond briefly to run the scanner carriage
down on where it should begin to start to
to scan, then it stopped all communication.
He sits for a while and then finally there will be an error message
No communication to the scanner, which had the error code:

    4, [(2,7,80040007), (3,7,0)]

-J' also tried to press the "Scan" button
on the front panel on the printer and then go through
options that are displayed on the screen on the front printers.

It said on the screen before she had no scan options.
On the computer, it showed a message
We should update the list of LCD on the screen of the printer.

I did it with the help of the HP solution center text.
I found where I could update the scan job type options.
I could add/remove them. Then, I sent to the printer.
Analytical work was then on the display of fine printers.
The same error: Scanner carriage moves down to the other end
the scanner then stops all communications from there.

I tried to google the number of problem and error.
I found several other users with the same problem we had.
I could see a webpage that people could download
the latest printer driver, then it should resolve itself.

    The provided disks were
-Disk with drivers for Windows XP and Vista
-Disk with drivers for Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit)

The drive for Windows 7 has been driver version 13.0.0
and I could download the driver 140.0 version (English)
    (I guess that's v.14.0)

So I downloaded this driver package.
    (I downloaded it 28 October 2010)

First of all, I uninstalled all THE HP drivers and software on Windows 7
and then did a reboot of Windows 7.

Then I started to install the new version 14 of the pilot.
    The installation went without problems.
But this driver has the same BUG than the previous driver.

I went to the new driver HP Web site
and downloaded all the updates that were available and
installed to them all and still no luck with the problem of scanning.

I had Windows Firewall turned off completely all the time.
It is therefore not the firewall blocking anything.
The connection to the printer is good because print jobs worked well all the time.

Then I would try to connect the printer with USB cable
the computer fixed Lenovo, to see if there was a difference.
I have re-set up the printer so that I got the printer available
    by USB connection.
It prints very well and can scan fine if
I put the computer starting a scan job.

But if I pressed the "Scan" button on the front panel
then came the SAME error as before.
When in the list of type of scan on the front panel of the printer
has been chosen and then began the cariage scanners
towards the other end of the scanner.
Then he started by the scanner to the computer software
Then, when we pressed either the scanning/Scan now on the front panel
on the printer OR we pressed the scan button to start the scanner software
on the computer. Then the scanner stopped after awhile and communication
then the error message appears again.

The wireless network is running a
D - Link router with wireless access point.
SSID: alsikkevej10 (not hidden, no special characters)
    Encryption: WPA - PSK (WPA1-PSK/TKIP)
Shared key: xxxxxxxx (with no special characters)

    CONCLUSION:
This means that the error (bug) persists in HP
Driver software the feature scanner for Windows 7 platform.

When I tested it, I had the Windows Firewall turns off completely.
It's had that nothing blocked in this way.
Wireless worked well because we could always print.

    The Lenovo laptop could always
printing AND scanning over the wireless connection

Both analyze the types of employment has worked on the laptop:
-A started from the "Scan" button on the front panel of the printer.
-Started from the scanner on laptop computer software.

So scan works fine on Windows XP but NOT on Windows 7 platform.

I would like to hear from you when you have solved the problem,
so that we can it works as it should do.

HP, please respond to an e-mail.

    Sincerely,
    Graphics & new media designer

I talked to technical support. I mentioned a level 2 technician. He told me that most of these problems is caused by a bad operating system and reinstalling it would do. I got back up, restore the operating system, restore the data and reinstall all my programs, but he was right about the problem to solve. Seems a lot of work to get the scanner to work, but my computer is slow and refreshing it anyway. Moreover, the level 2 technician also said that they would recommend to reinstall the OS every 6 months. Not so sure I want to spend hours 4 or more on this process, but my computer works certainly better!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus: loss of wireless connection, printer does not accept the password wireless

My printer has suddenly lost its wifi connection. It's the only phone connected to my network to do so.

Through the Wireless Setup Wizard to restore the connection. Assistant tells me that I entered an invalid password wireless, that is not true. (I confirmed that all devices connected to the network using the same password).

Reset the router (Technicolor of Time Warner). Reset the printer. The 'Restore default network' done. No luck.

Zero has changed since yesterday, when my printer was working fine. I used the same router for months, do not change any settings. Any thoughts on what may be the issue? A bad update happen?

    Thanks in advance.

My apologies for the late reply. I managed to get this problem resolved by phone to customer service.

The security mode of the router had to be changed to 64 WEP for wireless connection to be restored. According to Support HP, it's a common problem with the routers in Technicolor. There was no explanation as to why the printer has suddenly lost the ability to connect wirelessly when safety was created to WPA2-PSK. The network has been configured this way for more than a year.

I have almost solved this problem on mine (I had read about changing of security in a different post), but ran into a hiccup because of Safari. For some reason, Safari prohibited access to a menu page for my router security settings. You can imagine how boring it is to look at the HP Support use Firefox to access the router and do what a mouse click more, and then I had to make the change. So, if you make this change, be sure not to use Safari to access the gateway of the router Technicolor. Use Chrome or Firefox.

try to press the button above the keyboard as shown in 1 real wireless

If this button is not turning blue, and then probably the quich launch buttons do not work.

It is unfortunate that our efforts have been in vain. You can certainly try one of my previously recommended solutions again, but there is no certainty that the issue will be not permanent.

I brought your question to the attention of a team within HP. They are likely to ask for information from you to get your information or product serial number. Please search for a private message from a contact HP identified. Also, remember not to publicly post information and series numbers.

  • Need help I have my officejet 6500 wireless to allow searchable PDF on Mac OS 10.7.5.

Help! I can not get an option to save my documents scanned in pdf authorizing research. My system runs on Mac OS X version 10.7.5. I followed the instructions on the HP support site to install the necessary software and drivers for my printer using the ease of updating software apple resident in the operating system. Everything works fine except there is no ocr option. What I read in other posts, what I need is a complete HP software for my printer and the OS, but I can't find for OS 10.7.5. Is there a solution? I tried to install the HP software full of features for OS 10.6 on my apple software update, but the option of analysis remains the same.

Unfortunately not. The problem is that it is an old model of printer and it has been designed to run on the older operating systems. Upgrade to a newer version will not help, 10.6 was the last version of Mac OS X to have a software for this printer. Apple drivers are there to keep the basic functionality of the printer, you lose just a few additional features, by not having is not a complete package of features.

  • How to connect to the HP Officejet 6500 wireless printer

I recently bought the printer portable officejet 6500 from costco. Initially, I have it connected via a USB port on my laptop and follow the instructions in the CD. I also activated the wireless to the printer. Now, I'm trying to connect to the printer from my office laptop. I have not installed anything on my office laptop. I tried to get the printer Network Setup page portable officejet 6500, but the URL does not work. • 6500 E709n installed but does not print

I have an Officejet 6500 wireless printer.  It works fine with my windows laptop.  I tried to install it on my Macbook Pro and have failed miserably.  The installer tells me that the printer has been installed successfully.  However, when I try and print from the Mac, nothing happens.  The queue for the printer "stopped" displays in the status column of the document, I tried to print.  When I look at the error log it says: work crashed on the signal 5, Council attempt to set the LogLevel "debug" learn more, Job stopped due to errors of filter.

Any ideas on what I should do to get the printer to work would be appreciated.

Okay, you can that I am running out of ideas?

Let's get rid completely of the HP software by using the option "raccoon".  This will not only remove the software, but also through the system and delete all files from HP:

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
    Click on continue
Highlight your device in the left pane
Hold down the Ctrl and Opt Cmd and click on uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click on continue and let it finish

    Restart your Mac

    Now run a software update.

Finally, re-load the software from here.

I set it up as a network printer with a wifi modem in another room. I used the Control Panel, click right in the image of the printer and done research failure, checked the driver (this is the last) and the control panel tells me that the document prints, but nothing happens. I am trying to print with margins of 0.5cms word documents. I tried with 0cm margins and some print and others don't which is the reason why I changed the margins to 0.5cms. I get a warning that the print area is greater than the margin and that some of the document will be lost, but that's okay for me because I am a printing table and you want to cut the paper along the lines of the grid.
