HDMI piling on PowerConnect 5548
We have 8 switches PowerConnect 5548 and are interested in using the stacking of HDMI for 10GbE.
We currently have all 8 switches under tension and production running on them traffic. Each switch is currently either back 'a home run' to a Cisco switch, or connected to another switch PowerConnect 5548.
- Is mature enough stacking HDMI technology for a production environment?
- It would be important if each switch have been 'home run'd ' to the Cisco switch and each 5548 PowerConnect was connected in a loop HDMI?
- Stacking HDMI technology would require restart us our switches to implement? A failure would be necessary?
- All the special items of note regarding the type of HDMI cable? (i.e. owner or any which best buy HDMI cable work?)

Technology HDMI wroks ideal for stacking the PowerConnect 55xx series. You can use the HDMI ports on the 55xx for stacking well and not for uplink to a Cisco or other device. Also, you can stack only as 55xx switches with other 55xx and running the same version of the firmware.
On the 55xx, you don't need to reboot the switches, but just plug the cables to create the stack. An algorithm is used to determine which members becomes master and members who become slaves. In my view, that the master is determined by which switch has been powered as long. Don't forget that if you have the switches on different subnets or VLANs, they are configurations will be now changed all switches will become like a big switch.
The type of HDMI cable is important, you will need to consult the documentation that came with the switch, or you can download the Guide of the user to http://support.dell.com. You need cables that provide a flow rate of 10.2 Gbps (maximum allowed by the HDMI specification). Usually the cheapest cables don't provide this.

Need help to buy PowerConnect 5548 or 6248
I currently Powerconnect 6248 and 6224 switches via my network. On a floor 48 port switch is full and I need to add another, my thought is to add an another 6248 and stack them, but told me that I should get the 5548 and use sfp + 10 gig connection to connect to my 6248. When I talked to my rep at Dell, he said he would not recommend it, but it might be possible. Can someone tell me what would make the most sense? Currently, we have data on the site servers and applications but will move them to a data center in the near future.
The first thing that comes to mind would be to run as two stacked 6200 switches. When stacked it management makes it a little easier since the stacked switches act as one. It also less time spent on configuration with the addition of a member of the battery compared to a separate switch. Once 6200 switches are stacked you would also have the ability to Setup redundant connections by implementing a SHIFT that uses a port to each of the switches.
On the other side of things, I'm not familiar with the topology of your network. So there may be a specific situation that is the reasoning behind this recommendation of people. They gave no explanation of why they would recommend the 5548 with connection sfp + on the stack?

STP and PowerConnect 5548 battery
HELO,
I have 2 switches in the stack with HDMI mode. I use these two switches in the access layer.
To connect to the distribution layer, connect to a switch to a distribution layer and unit 2 to another different switch of the distribution layer.
Configure ports in the trunk, but I can not activate PLEASE.
Everything is configured with the same VLAN and the connection works. But the two ports (unit 1 and unit 2) are forwarding.I have no other battery that switches PowerConnect and working properly.
The HDMI connection is in the tree covering weight? or is it just for internal use, the two switches?

The HDMI ports for stacking are not involved PLEASE. When the switches are stacked, they are managed as a single unit.
I wanted to clarify, when you say that you cannot enable STP, does that mean you don't want STP is enabled? Or, when you try to activate PLEASE, it gives an error / will not?
You mentioned that ports 1 and 2 remain in a State of shipping, it's the desired status? What status you are waiting for and why?

Creation of the VLAN between Powerconnect 5548 and F10 s4810...
In the coming months we will replace our network equipment. I was able to get their hands on the new gear at the beginning, and if I'm not traditionally a guy from the network, the project has been given to me and I started playing. The first thing that I wanted to work on was implemented VLANs. I have configured the switches like the picture below:
When I have IP every PC connected to the same subnet and apply VLAN10 to their respective ports, they aren't to pings within the same stack or between cells. My basic understanding is that they are, do they not? Did I miss something in my understanding of VLANS or is there a problem with my configs? I posted the configs below.

endI would say lets start with one side and obtain communication of work between the two computers on the same stack at RTTMOACCESS01. The port settings for the 1/01 and 2/01 look great both in access mode for VLAN 10. Which IP addresses and subnets you assign to computers?
5548 to battery power battery connection 10 also appear to not be in a LAG, then we run two connections like that and they aren't in a SHIFT, we create a loop and a single connection will enter a blocking state.
For the connections between the 5548 and force 10, I suggest to turn them into a GAP. The command should look like this.

Do the same for Te2/0/1
Then we set up this OFFSET to set it up, and I would try to use the trunk instead of general mode mode.

Good afternoon!
I'm looking to implement a 5548 in our existing infrastructure. I want to preface this by saying that I am very new to networking.
I'm looking to have at least two VLANS separated.
-The first vlan for public sites face. These will have static public IP addresses.
-The second VLAN is iSCSI traffic. I would like that it won't face public.
Is it possible to Setup or should I be looking for a different solution.
If possible, how should I go about setting up?

The port that connects to your router should be placed in Trunk mode with the VLAN you want in the trunk port. All ports are in VLAN1 access mode by default, this means that the port that plugs into your routing device is in access mode for VLAN 1 and VLAN 1 has internet access. For traffic VLAN 2 to access routing equipment that you will need to change cela port in Trunk mode and adds 2 VLAN as a VLAN Tag.

Can I combine a set of four switches PowerConnect 5548 with a stack of two switches PowerConnect 5524? I don't know to ensure they are running the same firmware, but I didn't not see the documentation on the size of maximum stack or between models stacking limits.

PowerConnect 5548P appears dead - how fix?
Switch on my bench OK, separated from all recent messages; I have a Dell PowerConnect 5548 P sitting here. Apparently, my predecessor, one of our technicians said "he thought it was bad."
I have already hooked up to the console cable and started. I only get the first message:
Checksum test Boot1...
Then nothing after. Is there a reset, or diagnostic I can run before you go about things with the support of Dell, or is it pretty much "stick a fork in there, it's done.
Looks like it might actually be a firmware or hardware problems. I would start with the first try re-flashing the firmware through XMODEM.
In the firmware download through XMODEM update instructions there.
If the firmware does not help, you are probably looking to a hardware problem. You mentioned the fans, which makes it look like the LED fan on the front of the switch?

5548 PC receive no no LACP PDUs

I connected two PowerConnect 5548 via 10G interfaces and created a port channel.
But one of the switches is not LACP PDU (it also does not receive LLDP PDU) and therefore the OFFSET has not been established.

VLAN real PowerConnect base for beginner who does not understand the trunks etc.
I have several switches Dell powerconnect 3548 and 5548 deployed on my network to install multi that I'm managing their individual DNS names. now, I've added a voip phone system that works on my network, but to a range of ip addresses completely different to another server. So, I want all my switches divided into 2 VLANS. The basic vlan 1 will always manage the switches and all ports and the vlan voip will have its own set of ports on the second VLAN.
There is no visibility between the VLAN, just different IP addresses different server DHCPd, s so if your clogged in the vlan 1 are you a PC/printer/etc with your own default gateways defined by the field. If you are connected to one vlan 10 you are a phone and you will get your information from an edgemark server somewhere else.
so step by step (if you want to give me even better orders) I have actually need it to configure to create a vlan separate and independent who will seek dhcp by an existing voip to its home network device to, while I can still manage my management ip switches. I understand not all the vocabulary of trunking and I don't know if it needs anything else including marking, because are is all autonomous. I guess I need a guid for Dummies at vlanning powerconnects.

Configuration of VLAN 6248 - link IP subnet to the VLAN
We have 200 node network with no VLAN (small private company that developed quickly)
All nodes / devices / etc. of PCs spread evenly over 6 Dell 5448 switches with no regard for the Department, location or usage.
(1) L3 is 6248 - we've added 6248 route VLANs (everything is on VLAN 1 still - i.e. without marking)
(2) L2 several VLANS by switch - the best of cases, 2 VLANS by 5448
(3) trunk / general uplink L2 s 5448 using LAG (44, 45 ports) - should be labelled all traffic, but since it will be a conversion / migration on an e-commerce network 24 x 7, we thought that we would have to do uplink between 5548 s and 6248 General and changes to the trunk later
(4) for the conversion, all uplinks of trunk/general will have several VLANs marked as vlan1 untagged traffic
(5) we know fixed us every VLAN gateway IP to the IP address of 6248 maintenance the VLAN, but can't decide how to proceed with no one-to-one correspondence of VLAN LAG uplink
Questions on 6248
Q1: we would use "bind the IP subnet to the VLAN ' the 6248 to configure routing between VLANS or do we define the belonging to a VLAN by LAG?
Q2: would we be able to ping the IP of the bridge VLAN configured in the 6248 a down host link / node / PC marked for the same VLAN?
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
On the 6248 allowing to the VLAN routing you must just ensure each VLAN has an IP address assigned to it:

Then enable routing on the switch:

That's all that needs to be configured on the 6248 for VLAN routing to work. One thing to take steps, is that on the 6248 the management VLAN is not routable. By default, the management VLAN is VLAN 1. Two options are to move the management VLAN a VLAN different:
Console # configure
Console (config) #ip address vlan 99
Or not use VLAN 1 at all. Place traffic on other VLANs.
The answer to your second question is Yes. With the VLAN routing enabled a customer to any what VLAN should be able to ping the gateway of the 6248.
When it comes to generals and trunk mode. General mode is like a combination of access and trunk, you can send several VLANS not identified. General mode is most commonly used on the 6200 switches when connecting with the new switches, trunk sometimes doesn't connect when it is connected to a most recent switch. I suggest using the general mode on the 6248 and if it works, leave it in general mode.

connect the m6220 switches stacked to existing Lan infrastructure
I need to connect two powerconnect M6220 to LAN infrastructure existing.
The switch of two are configured in the stack.
Which is the best way to uplink the new switch to the other two powerconnect 5548.
The old switch are not stacked and bound together by two 10GB Ethernet cable (one of the links is disabled).
I need to implement the network tolerant to failures, maybe I need to configure the tree covering weight on the two links of 10 GB.
I use Spanning tree to configure the uplink between the old and the new, too?
Is there a better alternative? There is another way to prevent the loop network?

You have a few options.
1. you can simply connect the cables between the M6220 switch stack and the 5548. Set up a trunk connection which allows for VLAN needed overall. Tree covering weight until it is enabled on the switch and not off on specific ports connecting the default switches prevent loops and allow the most profitable link to be active, leaving the second connection as an alternative link in a blocking state.
2. you can configure LAG (aggregation of links). This is where you configure the individual physical ports in a virtual port channel. This indicates a covering tree to treat multiple physical ports as a single link aggregated to the other switch. You will need to have the port at each end of the connection channel mapping. (On each switch). This allows the same speed but more flow. To move traffic more.

Hello, I have a two IDF connected with a 9/125 singlemode fiber backbone. I want to put a PowerConnect 5548 on each IDF and connect them.
I have two SFP + 10GBase - SR Tranceivers. Can I use them on this single connection? Or I have to use SFP + 10GBase - LR?

Having little experience VMware, I entrust the task to try to see why one of our VLAN does not work on one of our servers ESXi 5.0. I will try to be as descriptive as possible.
The issue began just after works well for months, when it started for starting and running config had not been updated for several weeks on the router and switch.
Our server has 4 0 1 2 3 physical NICS
0 and 1 are associated together on VLAN1 and are also used for the management network
Map NETWORK 2 is used for 111 VLAN (network connect our wireless users to so that they cannot interact with VLAN1)
3 NIC is connected to the VLAN 66 (a network for video and deployment services)

If I plug a laptop computer into im int 1/0/6 I get an IP address from the DHCP server, and you can get online. When I go into the properties vSwitch2 and go to VMKernel and try to set it to automatically get an IP address, I get a 169.254*. * address. There is no connection if I statically set the address of one knowledge is available yet. I'll add more information later if needed, I have a meeting in which concerns another project. Anyone who can help, thanks in advance. If you need specific information, I will answer as soon as POSSIBLE.
On the configuration under maps page network vmnic2 has no observed IP address ranges and I do not know how to change the nic to perhaps add the addresses
I would try to eliminate the physical NETWORK adapter on the host being the issue. Silly question, but is there a link light? Drop a sniffer out there and see if there is no traffic passing if trying a different physical nic does not help.
