Help choose a new graphics card

I have a HP Pavilion Elite d5100t, which came with a Geforce 9800 GT 1 GB graphic card and 450 W Power Supply, purchased 2 years ago. It has come to my attention lately that my video card for some reason any is dying slowly, causing my computer to freeze every day.

I looked on new egg and see that an another Geforce 9800 same caliber is very reasonably priced, around $100, but I was wondering if my system has room for improvement.

Y at - it all the other cards that are an improvement on the 9800 GT, that would be a simple Exchange, without needing a different PSU? I'm not sure how to determine needs in power, but from what I hear that HP puts power supplies in computers that just barely meet the power requirements of this particular system configuration.

Any Suggestions?

Very well. Delta is a reliable manufacturer, this power supply can certainly provide its rated power output. With 385W, you could go up to a Radeon 5850 and anything less powerful than (5750 and 5770). You can also get one of the new GeForce GTS 450. Just to be safe, I would avoid the GTX 460. Even if your power supply must be able to handle it, he can put in as a constraint of high load, and so it is not dangerous for the components, it's run more hot and more noisy.

  • Could you help choose me a graphics card and RAM update for my 2010 computer (capable CS6)?

I have an old computer for 2 years since November 2010.   I bought it as a performance of office but not like a video editing machine (I entered the DSLR videography in summer 11').

    Here are my current features:

    Windows 7 64 bit

    C: drive (7200 RPM) for the OS/programs and export/output destination. PP & AE CS5.5

D: Media Player Source images 1.5 TB Caviar Black @7200 RPM 6.0 GB/s

    12 GB of Ram

    CPU i7-2600 to 3.4 GHz

ATI Radeon HD 5570 Graphics Card.

I'm saving for CS6 production premium so I would like to update some of the components of my machine to cope with confidence.

I would go for 24 GB of Ram... it's enough for me right? 32 is necessary for me?   BTW, I am only editing DSLR video files. No files of camera as RED etc.

Secondly, I need a solid videocard PP/AE (CUDA) GPU acceleration to edit videos with the applied effects, in a buttered smooth playback that bogged my material.

I don't know where to start with graphics cards, I know not much about them, or what to look for when buying a solid graphics/video card? The Nvidia GTX 660ti is good for me in this circumstance?

    Summary:

    RAM?

    Card video graphics... suggestions?

    All for CS6 PP/AE

    1. the i7-2600 is a locked CPU, which means that overclocking can only be done by modifying the BCLK parameter, which is not easy. The i7 - 2600K is an unlocked CPU, so overclocking is a simple matter of changing the multiplier in BIOS.

    2. the Ti 660 is currently the best map REGION (bang-for-the-buck) IMO. It is a great card in combination with the i7-2600, but of course may be extended to a new system without problem when the time comes.

    3. I would only watch 1 TB disks, since they have the best ratio of $/GB without costing an arm and leaving most unused space. 2 or 3 disks to have even better $/GB ratio, but it is questionable to know if you would need so much space.

To save money on my own version, I resorted to the drives of 1 TB only, although I thought initially to 2 TB drives, but finally I opted for drives of 1 TB enterprise. See planning and construction of a new NLE system.

  • Need help with the new graphics card

So my trusty GTX 555 is finally dying after 4 years and 10 000 + hours so I looked in an upgrade and heard the GTX 960 would be a good upgrade for an Alienware x 51 R1. So I got a PNY GeForce GTX 960 Amazon and installed but when I turn on my system it passes to the BIOS screen and is there for about a minute and a half and it beeps every 30 seconds after the screen came. After the minute and a half or two then goes to a black screen and says the brand and model of graphics card in the upper left corner for about 5 seconds, then he sits on a black screen. I did something wrong?

    If necessary system specs:
    330W POWER SUPPLY
    Intel Core i7 2600
    8 GB RAM
    Windows 7

    Have you updated the BIOS?

It just loks like the new graphics card prevents the hard drive to run.

All attached cables (power cable 6 pin) and locked firmly into the PCI slot.

Is it possible that the new card draws so much power that it prevents the hard drive of the race?

I'm not familiar with current PC for sale, regarding upgrades.  Since is considered a new HP, try looking at the list of options on the HP website.  Most higher end PC have the options that you choose before buy you, to customize the generation.  Choose a model with options that match your criteria now and notice the upgrade options - write down them - to avoid confusion later.  OR go with a customized version, but this could mean significant spending.  It is the hand off the coast between prebuilts and personalized.

  • Can I put a new graphics card and power supply in my computer.

Hey all, I have the model P7-1459 and it is good, but I was hoping maybe give him a boost of game. But I was not able to know if she could handle what I want to do. The new graphics card would require a 450W power supply, and I do not know if this model could handle. Anyone know of a way or another? Need help.

    Joshua, you are welcome!

I'm sorry that I misunderstood your question.  I thought that you wanted to know if the computer would process the card.

Yes, you can upgrade the power supply (PSU).  I suggest to measure the PSU existing and comparing these measures to the one you choose.  I love OCZ and Corsair.  They will provide quality amateur with a reasonable price.  A good video card requires a clean and stable power supply.  I recommend at least 500W; 550W at 600W would be even better.  This would allow for future updates.  The computer uses only the amount of energy needed to operate the components.

    I hope this helps.

The specs do not show the power of your diet, but from what I have seen that it is very probably 300W.  HP is not known for confusing their computers.  You can upgrade the video card, but it will be necessary to upgrade the PSU, probably also.

While you're there, if you haven't done so already, upgrade to at least 2 GB of memory would help allocate.

Here is the video card manufactured by EVGA.  It shouldn't harm your system somehow.  However, if you have trouble with the installation, you can contact their Technical Support (1-888-880-3842) or online.  They were very useful for me.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.  As you can see, there are a lot of comments and appreciation 5 eggs.  You can't do better.

  • No Signal after installing new graphics card

Hello and thank you in advance for your help!

We have a 2 years old HP p6540y.  It has an ATI video card integrated. When we recently turned on, we got a message "no signal" on the monitor and then he'd go to sleep.  We tried many things to fix... listed below, in order and are always the same message.  Please advise!

    (1) No Signal: DVI, VGA, HDMI.  So we unplugged and rebooted, no change.

    (2) checked monitor and DVI & VGA cables with another computer: they all work.

    (3) installed new graphics card: NVIDIA GEForce GT 610.  Still got same message "no signal".

    (4) we plugged/unplugged all the other cards/cords / no matter what we could and cleaned.  Then, finally, the monitor turned on! But not for long...

    (5) after you restart the computer after installation of the graphics card driver, we got the 'no signal' message again.  We released once more, other cards/sheets and again once the monitor and the computer came to life.

    (6) we uninstalled the ATI integrated graphics card.  When we go to display, Advanced Options, he mentions our new NVIDIA as graphic/video card.

    (7) we turned computer off during the night and this morning when we have lit, we once agin got the message "no signal".  We have unplugged/plugged computer several times.  Also tried the trick with cards/plugs by pulling and we have nothing.  No Signal.  After doing this several times (about 10), he is finally working again.

    (8) we changed the sleep settings to: screen saver = never; Standby mode = never.

    (9) we restarted again to get once more no signal message.

    So... what should we do?

    Thank you very much!

    Triusa, welcome to the forum.

I think that your problem is caused by the power supply unit (PSU).  Here's a guide to help you solve the problem:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/bph06788

Also, the existing PSU is 250W.  The 610 GT requires a minimum of 300W.

  • Qosmio G10 with the new graphics card and pcb - CD update tools do not work

    Hello world

I hope you can help me. Before a few weeks, I received my Toshiba Qosmio G10 return of aid, because the laptop no longer works. So I get it back with a new graphics card and a new PCB. With my laptop I have a CD called the update tool CD and a sheet of instructions, where it says to start with this tool CD-Rom update after you have installed the Windows with the reovery CD.

So I did, but when I know the update tool CD to put in and I start with it, the computer installs something, but after a short then it is a message that it is a different model and that I have to put a button to close Notepad. So I did it, but Windows does not start.

Why is it so? I had done everything that has been said on the instruction sheet.

    Please help me

    Hello

It will be interesting to find more information on this CD-Rom tool update. Are there tags Toshiba? Can you please write what is described here?

  • Pavilion p6 - 2120t: Windows will not start with the new graphics card

Installed a Zotac GT 740 profile down in my desktop PC graphics card HP Pavilion p6 - 2120t and now the PC does not start.

HP Pavilion p6 - 2120t CTO desktop PC

    Configuration:
    Intel Pentium CPU [email protected]
    4.0 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics Driver version Family: 8.15.10.2291 dated 27/01/2011
Motherboard: IPISB-CU (Carmel2) (1 open PCI Express 16 expansion slot pins)

    BIOS to Version 7.18

    Running:
    Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit w/service pack 1
Two monitors (VGA, 1 digital port 1)

Before installing the new graphics card, I replaced the power supply original 300w with a 400w power supply.

For starters, I disabled the onboard graphics in Device Manager. Then, I opened the case and installed the GT-740 in the open PCI Express slot. I made sure that the card was fully engaged in the slot.

I plugged both monitors to their connections voted on the new map.

When I tried to boot the PC, the digital monitor displays the screen HP (the one that indicates which key support to achieve the start menu) and then frozen. No other entries of key or mouse have been accepted.

The PC then sounds 4 short beeps (about 10 seconds between each beep) and then a long beep before turning off the signal to the screen.

Then, I removed the new graphics card on the PC that starts then. I have reactivated the original graphics drivers and the PC then worked normally.

Tried the above process two more times with the same results.

I then went into the start menu to look at the BIOS. The menu of the BIOS shows two options:

    > Sources of boot UEFI

    Windows Boot Manager

    > Sources of boot legacy

    ATAP I CD/DVD player

    SATA2

    Hard drive

    SATA0

Network controller (Realtek PXE B06 D00)

PC using UEFI Boot Manager Windows boots normally

I have not tried Legacy Boot Sources because I don't know which one to choose.

I went to the HP site and looked for an update to the newest BIOS, but updating them is a rev version 7.16 while my PC shows my BIOS to version 7.18

I know that others have had a similar problem but I have not seen a solution that works for my PC.

    Any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

Your PC isn't spec'd to run Windows 7 using the Windows Boot Manager.  I expect to a UEFI-based graphics card likely to work on an HP PC that does not have a BIOS version 8.

The below listed OEM HP, graphics cards should work in your PC using a normal non - UEFI W7 and W8 installation.

  • p6745f: new graphics card does not start

I have a HP P6745f I decided to update my graphics card because the default map is not compatible with Adobe CS6. So I bought a new power supply 600w and a GeForce 750ti. The PSU works fine with the original card, but when I put the new graphics card, the machine does not start. Just of is located on the blue screen and beeps every minute or so.

I've scoured the forums and tried the bios update, but that did nothing. Any ideas?

    Ericz, welcome to the forum.

750ti GTX requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  Your computer is released in 2011.  The latter does not demand of UEFI cards were 640 GT.
