History of Windows and Windows update

Hi all

I am in the middle of a clean reinstall and have been downloaded, so I thought, all Vista, including SP 1 updates.

Update history shows this is the case, but Win Update indicates that SP1 is ready to be downloaded and installed.

Vista is not recognizing SP 1 as having been installed because some software will not download except SP 1 is recognized.

How can I get Vista to recognize the installation?

Thanks for the help.

Hi all

Was able to complete the download and installation.

I first went to the control panel > Device Manager and searched for drivers and found

two Serial ATA controllers.

Then I went back to MS and found that I could download and install SP1 without having to

through Windows Update.

This approach worked and Win Update tries to download SP1 is no longer.

I can't install software that requires SP1 before installation.

I just installed hotfix for Windows (KB947821).

    Hi Jeffrey,.

It's not really a taken way in charge to remove only the cancelled or failed updates. These are taken from windows logs and displayed in the history. Steps that Jose post is a way to remove all files in history and will remove all updates as well as a failed/cancelled updates successfully.

    Hello

Recognizing the valuable suggestion provided by Jose Antonio Ponton Posada on 13 April, I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below for faster results.

Rename the DataStore folder in the software distribution folder:

    1. click on the 'Start' menu on the main screen of Microsoft Windows. Select all programs to access all the programs and options available on the system.

    2. Select "Run" in the Windows menu. A box will appear that gives you the ability to open and run a specific folder

    3. Enter the following '% windir%\SoftwareDistribution\' in the menu 'run '. You are then taken to the section of the Distribution of software detected on your computer

    4. open the folder "data store". This folder contains all the files associated with the Windows updates, run in the past. To clear the history, you need to delete all the contents of this folder

Restart your computer and you will have a clear history of Windows Update.

  • Check Windows Update has disappeared

I disabled the box in Windows Update settingsso as to not give me updates for Microsoft products and not to check the new optional Microsoft software when I update Windows.

After that, the box has disappeared in the settings window, and I can't go back on my decision. I read somewhere that it could be corrected using the policy editor. I attemppted to do, but it did not work satisfactorily.

Is there an effective way to restore this box which has disappeared from the settings window?

    [Running Windwos 7 Pro 64-bit]

I found that I could try to clear the history in Windows Update as follows:

Paste this command to search for Windows.
    %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\

Go to the datastore folder, and delete the content. Reboot and re-scan updated them.

I did the above, after following the instructions of MowGreen wuauserv and bits.

After restarting the PC, the Windows Update page includes all the options and now shows the box who had disappeared.

The only thing I lost was the history of Windows Update.

  • Windows update results in it being impossible to restart

    People,

It just happened on both of my notebooks from HP. Both are running Windows 7 Enterprise. There was an update to Windows requiring the box needs to be restarted. When the computer reboots, the two books could not start. Fortunately, it gives you an option to roll back. At least, I'm back and more.

I was looking in the history of Windows Update to see what has been updated. On the same machine, I see that KB2447568 has been applied. On the other machine, I see no update for today. I wonder why he asked me to reboot.

Both machines are running AVG 2011.

The machine where KB2447568 has been applied, I see an error in the registry 'Package KB2447568 doesn't have to be changed to the intermediate state. Status: 0x800f0816. »

KB2447568 is for IE 8 compatibility view list for Windows 7 for x 64 systems.

Someone has an idea of what could be the problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you're still having problems, then you can check in the history of Windows update and the updates recently installed in vain.

    Step 2:

If you see updates failed, you can try downloading and installing the updates manually from the Microsoft download center:

My system says that my Windows 7 is currently up-to-date but it keeps invites me for a restart of the system. I rebooted several times, as well as the closing, all to nothing does not. I'm always being asked to restart my system to complete the installation.

    Hi, Kyle Williams,.

Check if the Windows Update are waiting in the history of the update.

    2. In the left pane, select Show update history
    3. Check if an update has a pending status

If updates are waiting try to remove the update and try to install manually and check what is happening.

Alternatively, you can try to reset the update components and check if that helps.
