How does influence Services.MSC Msconfig.exe?

How does influence Services.MSC Msconfig.exe?

.. a small example to better understand my question: p
Why when in Service.msc, I disabled Acrobat Update Service (for example), the service in Msconfig.exe still is checked in the service menu?
It is marked as stopped however.
Service process uncheck = unchecking in Services.MSC in Msconfig.exe?
Reboot was done of course.

Thanks, please help!

The result would be the same.  The best practice would be to use the disable services continuously, change the startup type, or start services and Services using MsConfig just for troubleshooting.

To see what is happening in real time, life is to try MsConfig and Services, including all necessary reboots etc (if you wish).

Services can be affected through the registry too.  There are often several ways of doing things in Windows to get the same result.

Use the following guide to convert a standard Windows 7 disc to include a menu of the version to install.

How choose desired Windows 7 Edition / Version during the installation?
    http://www.askvg.com/how-to-choose-desired-Windows-7-Edition-version-during-Setup/

UPDATE: you can also use a utility free "ei.cfg" removal tool to remove "ei.cfg" file so that you can choose the version you want at installation time. The utility of deleting ei.cfg is a simple tool that will remove the ei.cfg from any Windows 7 ISO disc image, so to convert the image into a "universal" disk that will prompt the user to select an edition during installation.

OR you can use another free "Windows 7 ISO Image edition Switcher" tool to change the "ei.cfg" file so that you can convert a Windows 7 installation ISO specific file (for example Windows 7 Ultimate) edition to another (for example Windows 7 Professional).

This tool works by activating / deactivating the deletion bit in the table of UDF file, eliminating the need unpacking and rebuilding the ISO, which means that it is extremely fast (to patch the ISO to remove ei.cfg takes only a fraction of a second), and the process is easily reversible (by running the utility on a patched by this utility disk image will restore the disk image to its original state).

Now the question is, how do I remove or change the "ei.cfg" file in the Windows 7 Installer?

There are 2 ways! You can extract the contents of the Windows 7 installation ISO file using 7 - Zip and then delete or modify the "ei.cfg" file according to your needs. Its useful if you want to upgrade because you can run the file setup.exe directly from the extracted folder and install Windows 7.

If you want to do a clean install, you can open the ISO file using the "UltraISO" software, "Power" or "MagicISO" and then delete or modify the "ei.cfg" file and save the ISO. Now, you can burn the ISO to a DVD file and install your desired edition of Windows 7.

  • Msconfig vs services.msc in win7

I was then trying to decide if I should use config to control my start-up, start-up deactivation etc, or is it better to use services.msc? What's the difference/consequences of both.

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Services.msc may only provide the access to the services. However, MSCONFIG gives you access to programs from startup, boot options and services also. I suggest that use you MSCONFIG to control your desktop.

    Hello

    Run the sfc/scannow command.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

For some unknown reason, the folder serices.msc in the administration in the Control Panel tools wants to use Adobe Reader to open the file. Of course, it does not open. What program I need to change the 'Open with' dialog box to read? I have Windows Vista.

    Hi Pat,

I understand that you are unable to open services.msc and when you try to open the same, it tries to open with Adobe Reader.

Facing this problem with another program/application or tool?

This seems to be a problem with the Windows file association that went wrong. We will try to correct this. To do this, try the following.

    • Open default programs by clicking the Start button, click default programs.
    • Click on associate a type of file or Protocol with a program.
    • In the list of available file types, find .msc and click it to select it. At the top right of the screen click Change program.
    • Click Browse and navigate to C:\Windows\System32. Scroll the list of the files (not folders) and mmc, click to select it and click Open. Click Close. See if it helps.

  • service.msc overrides msconfig active service?

My msconfig contains a list of SERVICES with check marks on each element.  The State could be running or stopped, but no date is given in the column Date disabled.  In other words, that all are enabled, no?

My services.msc is also a list but with automatic manual, different Types of starts, disabled, etc.  I read do not change status in msconfig, but it is normal to make changes in the services.msc.

This means, if I change the Startup Type to disabled, this will replace the State enabled in msconfig?  I'm just trying to reduce the startup time.

Answering your question: Yes, disabling a service in services.msc removes Msconfig list service so we can say it replaces the msconfig settings
I would like to disable Msconfig
Disabling services in msconfig is safer than services.msc because when you enable them again he will restore it with the same settings (as if it was the manual in the first place he goes back to the manual on activation)
However I do recommend NOT turning off Microsoft services

  • services.msc logs under "Local System account" instead of "This account" (previous setting for all) on WinXP SP3

Just recently had problems to Windows Update and Windows Installer that were solved by Maurice N.  When you restart the Windows Installer service (again), I noticed that all the services loading of ' run: services.msc' happen under the Local System account. "  Is this a problem?  Found the remarks after a search online, which implies that it is not a good idea.  Previous setting was 'This account' suggestions on the evolution of this return?  I tried to change, but nothing happened.

The Windows Installer Service must be on the Local System account.  I would fix the manual start, since he does not need to be put forward at every reboot and it works day and night to do nothing.  If you set it to manual, it will start when it needs start.

This is true for many Services - as in Help and Support for example.  The 'experts' Support committed by Microsoft engineer will tell you always for this set to automatic, but it the Manual value and you will have more memory and CPU to the things that really matter.

Please provide a link to the Web pages where read you otherwise.

If you want to learn more about the Services of XP, I was looking at the site WWW Viper Black here.  Chances are that you have many Services running, you can do without.

Depending on how much Service tweaking you did on your system and which components you have installed, you should define most of all THE Services to the Local System account.

On my system, sort the list of services by the "Log on As" column, the exceptions referred to in this PROVISION of account/NT would be:

    Customer DNS (automatic)
    Performance logs and alerts (disabled)
    Remote procedure call (RPC) (automatic)
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator (manual)
Windows Media Network Sharing Service (disabled)

You can have more or less depending on what you have installed.  If you are not sure, ask.

P.S. The technician 'expert' advice of technical support to run sfc/scannow has absolutely nothing to do with it.  It's just another one of their wild goose hunting support technician to receive credit for responses with links to KB articles that have nothing to do with your problem and will only waste your time.  You describe not as symptoms suggestive of a corrupt user profile.  It's a real shame.

  • Errors with the System Event Notification Service and Services.msc

I tried to watch the last questions in this Web page before this announcement. I'm using a desktop computer NEC and somehow, every time that I boot on my computer, then I logged

on my account, "System Event Notification Service does not work. Contact your administrator... "blah blah blah. I tried using Services.msc and administrator
However, I use my computer now on safe MODE and Normal mode. Oh yes as I'm in safe MODE, I can't start anything in Services.msc. I can, however, restart the services, but it doesn't seem to work.  Someone help me turn my computer back to normal? : D

    Hi Chuayujie,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. are you able to work on your computer in normal mode after receiving the error message?

If you can boot into normal mode, you can try to perform a SFC scan and see if it helps.

You can run scanning of the file system [SFC] checker on the computer that will replace missing or corrupt files & check if the problem persists.

For more information, you can consult the following link.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • Cannot find any Acquisition of Image Windows service in services.msc. Cannot scan. Help please

Hello. I just bought my deskjet 1050 all-in-one. Everything works fine but the scanner does not work. What seems to me, is that the question is in the HP scan. When I try to open it, it does not open. I then searched Windows Image Acquisition in services.msc, but there was none of this services listed there, I think that this is the cause of this problem. How can I solve this problem? How can I reinstall WIA?  I have win 7 Home premium 64-bit. Have installed the full version of the software updated, but of no use.

Thanks be to God. I found the solution. I restored the registry entry in the registry editor. It is somewhat like "stiscv" in the registry.
