How remove the name of the printer on Wi - Fi?

I have a laserjet M175 which I connected to my home Wi - Fi.  When I scan for local area networks with my phone (for example), I can see the printer as a wireless access point and it is not secure, it is open.  to work through the configuration of the network on the printer, I chose not 'open '.  so, how can I stop my printer being visible to anyone and everyone please?

Hi RussCoulter52,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

The network that the printer is the broadcasting of (name of the printer) is a wireless direct connect. (ie. an ad hoc network, or peer-to-peer). That means that you must be with in the range of the printer to be able to see the network, more so with this network IF someone else has joined him, they would be able to print to your printer.

Now, to turn off this option, or add the security on the network printer, please follow the steps below.

1. press on the key icon
2. press on the right arrow key, until you see the network configuration Menu
3. press OK
4. press on the right arrow key, until you see live wireless
5. press OK

Now you should see options to turn off wireless Direct, thus improving safety.

Please let me know if this procedure works for you.

  • Office Jet 6100: Remove the printer tray

How did the paper tray removed for transport?

    Hey @Merlot856,

Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that you are looking to remove the tray paper from your printer Officejet 6100. The tray is not removable on this printer. I suggest a larger box or be extremely careful when moving the printer so that the tray is not broken.

  • Fax - HP Officejet Pro 6830: how to remove how remove the 'Fax - 6830 (network) HP Officejet Pro printers list option.

How can I remove the "Fax - HP Officejet Pro 6830 (network)" option in the list of candidates of printer? First of all, I am a VoIP client and my salesman, like many others, does not fax support. In second place both my wife and I inadvertently try to print using this entry much to our annoyance. In third place for a non-commercial customer, it's an archaic device and that there should be a way to turn it off. "Fax - HP Officejet Pro 6830" does not appear in "Devices and printers", but it is in the registry.

There is no entry "FAX". I gave up. I would attach a print screen, but I don't see how.

    Hello c2wd5w,

Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! I understand you would like to know how to remove the tray to main paper of your HP Photosmart 6525.

Please take a look at page 12 of your User Guide, here you will see some useful photos:

I was able to remove the tray by pulling the tray on an angle, once on the bottom of the paper tray, you will see 2 tabs gray bit that can be pushed inward to eachother that will free up the plateau.

    I hope this helps!

  • I can't remove the print picturesfrom queue...

I have a Photosmart C5180 all in one and a HP laptop on a wireless network.  I've had no problems so far. I can't delete two images of the print queue, so I can not print anything else, until they are deleted...  I tried all the solutions to this day in the forum, but cannot find the files listed in Windows 8.  I downloaded the file "HPPSdr", but it does not work even when I say 'yes' when it asks me. I have unplugged the printer and the laptop to power and reconnected... I looked in the Administrative Tools Control Panel and can not find... I typed in the unsuccessful print spooler... I typed Run and Net Stop Spooler nothing helps... I looked for a program and files Services.msc - nothing.  I think that Windows 8 is renamed everything and hidden it away, so we can find.  Any help anyone can give me wil greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'll give you a link to a specific document on your printer, but you almost everything he does.  The only step you did not uninstall the printer and reinstall it.  Still I recommend you read through this entire document "printer is in offline mode" since every step inside is exactly the same for the other printers that have stuck in the queue of print jobs.  I never want to do a uninstall myself thus before you make sure that your printer is always connected to the same network as your computer or you will have a hard time to re - install.

I included a video on How to uninstall a printer in Windows 8 , but it looks like you know your computer very well so you need to may not be it.  And to make sure you have everything you need, here is a link to full feature software and drivers for Photosmart c5180 on a 64-bit Windows 8 computer.  I am interested to know what is happening.

On your computer, hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run window, type services.msc and press to enter.  Scroll down to the print spooler service, right click and select Properties, then click the Stop button.  Now search for C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS, then delete the work inside this folder - you may need to click a command prompt to get the authority to open the PRINTERS folder.
