How to wake up a T42 - after power failure.

I just changed to a T42 as a home automation web application server in a vacation home that is unoccupied for weeks and months.  I'm gone with a Thinkpad retired because the processor running at 40 degrees Centrigrade with its fan-Off in our cool basement unless there is some computer activity... hoping the Thinkpad would unnattended for years in this quiet situation with the HDD as the only moving part.

When the power goes out, I have an inverter for 2 hours, plus the Thinkpad battery for 4-5 hours (off screen), but then it stops with an extended power failure.  We cannot go back to this place for months to re - turn on the computer.

The bios settings on T42 for "Startup Timed" do not work for me or anyone else I saw on the Thinkpad forums.

Or, using the Task Scheduler with the "wake the computer" option when you run an application (such as the calculator or Notepad) do not wake the T42 from sleep mode. (The laptop could go to sleep when the battery reaches 50%)... then having the scheduler run Notepad all morning at the cases where the computer is in standby due to a power failure in the course of 24 hours prior... but it does not work.

Is there another way to start or wake a T42 on a calendar or a network drive?   I didn't "want to solder connections in the power switch - although if it is possible if I could use a phone remote access to the automation system to turn on the computer with a closing contact, but his disorder at."

After testing, I switch to Windows 7 Pro. The T42 can going mode sleep after x minutes on battery. It can be awakened by running a lazy batch file by using the Windows Task Scheduler.

Thanks for your suggestion

I have problems to restart of Yosemite, after power failure during the new backup, and now HD is also blocked.

I tried the holding of 'command-r' and 'option' to see if the problem can be resolved or try any boot from a boot disk, my old backup, USB function start - but after a slow long process it all just stops.

There is software on my HD that I don't want to lose by simply reformatting the computer, because I am now in a different country, far from my house, which is another problem of the Apple Store, to reinstall my OS from Yosemite on the www.

  • root > \system32/had.dll message after power failure.

After power failure, I got the above message.  I tried to rebuild the CD system following the instructions Microsoft but still can't het PC to start.  Any ideas anyone?

    Thank you

Since you didn't say what were these instructions, we do not know what you were doing!

You need to start the recovery console, run chkdsk r, then /Rebuild. bootcfg The first part can be read here:

    http://www.icompute.info/System_restore_from_xp_cd.htm

You will need to understand how your PC (you neglected to tell us the make, model and model number!) can boot from the CD-ROM. Then, run the Recovery Console. DO NOT ENTER THE INSTALLER! (If you do, you run the risk to wipe your entire disk clean!) Follow the indications of the above page and then stops after having successfully performed chkdsk/r. In other words, don't do the fixmbr part!

Then, for the second part, read here:

    http://www.icompute.info/halldll_error.htm

Restart the PC in the usual way (that is, start with the hard drive) and let us know if you are at the back of buisiness.

  • Lenovo IdeaCentre Q180 behavior after power failure

    Hello

I need a computer that automatically restarts after a power failure.
I find nothing on the IdeaCentre Q180 behavior in such a case.

Did the reboot of the IdeaCentre Q180 himself after power failure or is it possible to activate this feature?

This behavior is very important for my new system.

    Thank you for your response.

    Kind regards

Hi theodoor, welcome to the forums.

I am not personally acquainted with the Q180, but I had a quick glance in the simulator of BIOS and I am sure that the service you're looking for is available in the BIOS.

  • Fans always operate at high speed after power failure

HP Pavilion Slimline S5780T - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

After a power failure a night or more recent, our Pavilion Slimline case fan and CPU fan have both run at high speed all the time, starting from the system. The level of noise is intolerable.

I opened and cleaned all the dust from the inside of the case, including the removal of the heatsink from the CPU. Everything is clean.

I ran the following HP Vision diagnostic, test the system, including fans. During the test of fan, the fans ran at 100%, then fell to the former level normal, quiet, then ramp back up to 100%. So says HP fans diagnostic tests are OK when there is always a problem. And it is possible for them to run at slow, normal speed.

I installed the free SpeedFan utility, but there is not place to adjust the fan speed manually.

How can I find the problem and the fans run at normal speed, as they did before the power failure? Everything that controls the speed of the CPU fan and the fan is broken.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Stephen - Myrtle Beach, SC

Strange things happen when power flucuations or failures occur.  Most probably the motherboard has been damaged by the PPE and that is normally not as repairable by a DIY.  If you could find a newer BIOS, that to solve the problem.  Since there can be no more recent BIOS, try to remove the battery from the motherboard for the night and then put the file in and reset the BIOS to see if that helps the default value.  Otherwise, it might be repairable.

  • UEFI auto turn on after power failure

I bought a desktop computer HP Pavillion PC500-225es (have a holiday home in Spain where the suffix are).

It is running Windows 8.1 equipped a UEFI BIOS.

I want the PC automatically restarts when power is restored after a power failure, but I don't see any option to do this in the UEFI BIOS. Is it normal for a UEFI BIOS? I have had many computers with a BIOS for old style and that I can remember all had the ability to set the auto restart after power fail.

I don't know how a UEFI BIOS integrates with Windows 8.1 but I see no option for this in point 8.1 of Windows either.

    Someone at - it ideas?

In addition, because the PC was bought in Spain, the BIOS is in Spanish. It seems not be anyway to change that in English, my native language. Not a big problem I can get in Spanish and may apply to the Google translate if I have to, but it would be easier if there was an option to switch to English.

I ran the HP Support Assistant, and everything is up-to-date, there is no update to download BIOS.

I guess I'm just stuck with the situation unless HP come with an update of the BIOS to add installation.

Please see the BIOS for the motherboard Jasmine settings the settings you are looking for. Although this document is intended for the 'Jasmine' motherboard and your computer uses the "JasmineR', the settings should be similar if not the same thing.

To access the BIOS Setup page... "Turn on the computer and immediately press the F10 key repeatedly, once per second, until the opening of the Computer Configuration utility."

The following options are found in the Power Options:

Messages POST (Power On Self Test) Turn on or off
After the loss of power Previous state, or disable
POSITION of delay (in seconds) Zero, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 60 seconds

  • Cannot take possession of the two machines after power failure

Greetings...  Recently, I experienced a power failure to my office when I was running two different virtual machines.  After the reboot, I am unable to connect to machines like VMWare tells me "this virutal machine seems to be running."  If I press the button "Take Ownership", he immediantely is back with a dialog box saying "Appropriation of this virtual machine failed."  How to unlock these machines?

    Thanks in advance

    Jason

    Hello

First stop of VMware Workstation, then go and have a look at the folders where are stored the your virtual machines.

It is likely that you will see some .lck .lock files or folders. Which ones you will see (lck or lock) depends on the version of your VMware product.

Delete these files (move them to another folder if you are more comfortable with it), and then return to VMware Workstation.

Reopen the virtual machines and chances are big enough to make them work as they used to be.

    Good luck!

  • GSM7224v2 loses the configuration after power failure

As the topic title says - this device (new for me but flea market) loses its configuration after power off.

I don't see any button cell within the unit for volatile memory backup. Surely the configuration lives in non-volatile storage?

I am being dumb and I'm missing something?

    Hi neidlo

    Welcome to the community!

Yes configuration lives in a non-volatile memory, when it is saved. Until it is saved, it is in RAM.

When configuring the switch, it is not automatically saved. Using Web Interface (GUI)? A "Save" button should do.

Please let us know whether or not this was the burden

  • ONS 15454 presents itself as 'unknown' after power failure

We had a power failure that also landed an ONS 15454 in a remote installation. To restore power and power on the device, it appears in the CTC under gray with "Uknown2" as the name.

I had someone reinsert the card of STC, but sometimes still unknown.

Has anyone seen this? Suggestions (the unit is hours from me)

Try to restart the session from the CTC and clear the cache of the CTC

    You can test the node

Checks whether the node is in the OSPF routing table

You can access through the CTC locally

Your CTC terminal is directly connected, or does it go through a firewall

Probably resolved now how did you solve it?
