HP 13 Stream: Stream Hp 13 recovery issues...

OK here goes...

I have a sister in law who bought a 13 Stream with 64-bit Windows 8 HP.  My problem is that she tried to load windows 7 on it cause she hated windows 8 and couldn't use it.  Somehow when she tried to load windows 7 using a usb cd/dvd CD-ROM drive, she killed the recovery partition.  I have cautioned about loading Windows 7 on this unit TWICE...  The real issue is that she has no money to buy recovery discs, is possible to get the operating system or another on here.  It doesn't have a disc of 7 home premimum windows unregistered, and I am at a loss to help her.  I SAID his ias TI not a good ideal...

Can someone help or advise?  It is just a paperweight...

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi, you need the USB recovery to return to the factory Windows 8.1 with Bing.  8.1 Windows image that Microsoft makes available for download will install but it will not be validated.  Also for Windows 10 to validate, you must start with Windows 8.1 with Bing and then update.

I think that Windows 7 should install right, I don't know if all drivers would be available for this purpose, you may enable boot legacy mode and disable start-up secured in the configuration menu of the UEFI.  I see a post about it here.

  • HP Stream 13: How do we install 8.1 Windows on HP 13 Stream without a recovery partition and a Windows license key?

I deleted all the hard drive on my HP Stream 13, including the recovery partition.  I want to reinstall Windows 8.1 on the disk.  I downloaded the ISO of 8.1 of Windows on the Microsoft Web site.  When I try to install it, I get prompted for a product key.  He must see that the material already has a license for Windows 8.1 and not to invite me for a key.  What should I do to get Windows installed 8.1?

13 Stream is a license for Windows 8.1 with Bing, it does not cover the Windows 8.1 ISO that you downloaded, that's why you're be prompted for a product key.  I heard Windows 8.1 with of the Bing ISO are available, but they are not official.  If you have not created a USB recovery before wiping the drive, you could also buy the HP recovery media or possibly install Windows 10.

Maybe this link could contribute to resynchronize the downstream database after a Point-in-time recovery:

  • Satellite P850-F315 - RECOVERY ISSUES

    Hello

    I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite P850-F315.

After that I did a factory reset (now "zero" all by pressing the button "power on"), I noticed that I had driver problems on my USB ports.
I have found workarounds and kept the operation of the machine.

This morning the wireless card stops working and so did the bluetooth device (it is, of course, in addition to the USB ports that were never resolved).

The machine won't let me not re-install the drivers for those devices.
I tried a system restore Windows, which did not help.
So I came back to perform a factory reset Toshiba.

    + It is underway. +

    Here are my questions.
When I performed the first factory reset, it was the problem of the USB to start.
When I tried to re - install the USB drivers, they seem to be "locked" while signed in as a user.
I could only install devices on USB ports, when I was in safe mode.
    Why would this happen?

Secondly, I have another identical machine, which is currently works perfectly.
This problem will be repeated if I do a factory reset on the second machine?

Is there a reason why wireless and bluetooth devices may stop working randomly?
The wireless hardware seems to be detected by the system, but I can't install the software or device drivers. When I go in the settings of the wireless card and select a Protocol, the properties button is "grayed out" which means I can't go into the properties of each protocol. On the bluetooth device, it freezes while loading software at 15%.

It just seems like there are too many random questions on a single machine. I hope someone can help me with a simple solution for all problems.

    Hello

The whole story is really strange and I can't imagine what the problem is here. Fact is this recovery image original Toshiba is always created for some portable model and contains the operating system, all necessary drivers for hardware components, specific tools and Toshiba Utilities and some additional software.

Toshiba recovery image contains drivers tested so I m really confused why you had all of these problems.
At first, my advice to you is to create using recovery disc (DVD) preinstalled creator Toshiba recovery disc. After doing this using this drive for the functionality of recovery by image installation and test once more.
    > I have another identical machine, which is currently works perfectly.
Googling around, I found that your computer has the PSPKBF part number. If this machine another has the same part number create recovery disk and use it on the original machine just to see if the same problem happens again.
    > This problem repeated itself, if I do a factory reset on the second machine?
I understand the reason for this question, but recovery image can be installed to 1000 times and the result must be the same. I installed recovery image on multiple machines, and each time the reset settings has been successfully and without any strange problems.

Believe me it is not easy to help you with all these problems. Recovery image is tested and after recovery image installation, everything should be ok.
Please do what I wrote and do some tests.

  • File recovery issues

I had a 'Windows time', or something... I had a page come in saying "The FBI has seized for illegal activities of the computer" or something to that effect. They wanted ransom $300.00 to release my computer, needless to say, I declined. I tried to do a system restore to an earlier date... I'm NOT a computer savy guy. old man... can do things... Of that computer... finished anyway went back to Windows Vista, I used my Windows 7 upgrade cd to update... What it is, BUT ALL my files are gone. Photos, programs, etc. I did a backup of system files according to the instructions of Windows... I downloaded them on my computer and they are in a "recovery" file, I can not install them themselves to a usable program... If that makes sense. I spoke with 6 people at Microsoft (waste of my time), they had no indication as to what I've spoke, but did not charge me $99.00 for Technical Assistance... ??? Strange huh.. ? It is anyway YOU can help me get the files "Rceovery" where they should be and in operation? Thank you in advance, Stan Reeves... year 67 former military Vet... Not computer Smart...

    Hello

Looked like you restore your machine to factory settings (Vista). I don't know which product you used to download your files on your computer and hence. You mentioned Windows, please try this:

  • Satellite C660D - recovery issues

I tried to do a HARD drive recovery that worked, but when WIN7/Toshiba "preparing your desktop" screen comes up the laptop freezes.

I've built since the recovery in safe mode discs and the same precise problems occurs.

I've disabled most of the things in bios and tried the same thing, I also set default values in the bios.

Laptop is less than a year...

    Thoughts?

And during the installation of recovery image once again made the same thing happens again?
In my opinion you should not change anything in the BIOS. Set it to default settings and try again.

  • Satellite A500 - 19 X - recovery issues

    Hello

I am running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. I created my recovery using the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator DVDs and all original parts are still intact. However, I plan to switch to Ubuntu, and I would like to do a clean install, which would erase my C: and D: drives.

I intend sicking with Ubuntu in the foreseeable future, but I was wondering that if I get fed up with it, I would be able to use my DVD of recovery of re - install Windows 7 on my machine. I wanted the whole process thorough research before you start, just in case. I read that in order to use the recovery DVDs, you must keep the intact recovery hidden partition.

After you run diskmgmt.msc, I see the following:
-A 400 MB partition, with the label (recovery Partition)
-A GB 232,88 partition, with label (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, primary Partition)
-A 232,49 GB partition, labeled (Primary Partition)

I'm guessing that when resizing my partitions (with GParted or something similar) I'll have to let the 400 MB partition intact and just change two larger partitions. Can someone tell me if this whole process works, or if I'm just wasting my time?

    Thanks in advance,
    -Matt

    Hey Buddy,

The partition of 400 MB with file recovery has nothing to do with Toshiba and it s only a Microsoft features and contains some important files to the Windows recovery environment, but you can restore t Windows on this partition.
On Wikipedia, there is an interesting article on the Windows recovery environment.

IF you have already created the Toshiba recovery disc you are on the safe side and you can do what you want because you can always restore the preinstalled Toshiba with this disc because it s contains an image of the factory settings.

You can delete all partitions and install Ubuntu. If you want to return Windows, simply use the Toshiba recovery disc. :)

By the way: from Toshiba HARD drive recovery files are saved on the second partition of HARD drive in the folder HDDrecovery.

  • dynamic disk recovery issue and I cannot make a primary partition

I have to cover, please read in full before answering a few questions. This problem started when I made another (retractable) partition on my main drive to run another operating system in a duel start setting. I made this partition, then I think that all my partitions (including recovery) computer went to dynamic. I deleted a partition, so I'm not going on the max 4 so I could do a primary, but she's still dynamic (that I made). First of all, I want to be able to make a primary partition to boot another operating system, and how can I do this without deleting my recovery? I don't want to use 3 third party software, unless they are free. Since my recovery is now a dynamic partition, can 2nd question, I still make a recovery? 3rd question, if I have to delete everything to my basic primary partitions, then can HP gives me a way to backup the recovery, or a least a way to send a recovery disk. Also, when I made the partition, I deleted the HP tools which was 200 MB partition (I think, but I don't remember), how can I reinstall it? Or it is necessary. Overall, I need to make sure that my system windows 7 will be stable with recovery and use with dynamic partitions. In addition, I have not used this program, but I was looking at a problem with a program called HxD Hex, http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=191006, I did not try this because it says this sector 0 1 2 location of the partition I tried to do a primary (Hex) actually says 4f instead of 42. ANY HELP WILL BE AMAZING! At least tell me my system can be stable with a dynamic partition, and I can repeat once if something goes wrong.

Yes HP recovery disks will change back, but the question is that HP Recovery Manager will not be able to burn recovery discs, or perform a system partition recovery until the hard disk is converted back to base. At least this is what I've seen other posters.

Seems (to me anyway) the only option is to use the software I mentioned above and convert back to basic & burn recovery discs or order from HP recovery discs.

  • VADP recovery Issues for SRM protected VM

We get the following error when you try to retrieve a picture VADP level backup to a virtual machine that has been protected using MRS:

Configuration of the VM invalid or not taken care of.

vSphere replication does not support change the length of a replicated disk.

We have the SRM protection set up between two sites, but also have a third isolated site used for DR tests I need to restore the SRM protected computers. This site is an installation vCenter vanilla and 3 only vSphere hosts. I can recover backups VADP for unprotected MRS. fine of VM, however, trying to recover a virtual machine that has been protected using SRM in the production site, I get the error.

We are running vSphere 5.0.1 and using EMC Networker 7.6 SP4 for backup and restore.

I raised a call with VMware, but they seem uncertain. Has anyone seen this problem before?

    Thank you.

    Pete.

    Hello

Just to provide an update for this problem incase anyone attempting the same process:

    VMware support reported:

    ********************************************************************************************************************************************

It seems Networker following this process:

-saves a copy of the VMX file during the backup (instead of obtaining the ConfigInfo to the virtual machine via the API)

-during the restoration, it copies the VMX file to the data store (instead of creating/reconfigure the computer based on the registered ConfigInfo virtual).

    -register the VMX

-Reconfigure the VMX recorded to create discs

This will not work if the virtual machine is being restored to the same data store and has access to the original disks. If the virtual machine is being restored to another location where is has no access to the original disks, they create the disks but the VMX still has replication configuration entries that say that these discs are being replicated. When HBR checks the request reconfigures, he sees that the disk is 'change '. In this case, it checks if the length of old drive and the new drive is identical and fails reconfigures her request if the sizes don't match. But as the old records are no longer available, HBR does not find the old disk size and it may appear 0 in the ConfigInfo. So it fails the operation of education reconfigures.

If he had followed the supported method for restoring the virtual machine by using the API to create, they would not run on this issue. However, I think that even in this case he might still have some problems in some scenarios where only some drives are restored (for example, the data store from one of the disks)
is lost), but as long as partners of backup using the API, workaround for these rare cases would be to restore the entire VM.

    ********************************************************************************************************************************************

I have raised this with EMC who said:

    ********************************************************************************************************************************************

NetWorker has not qualified for SRM + Vshpere replication (which was confirmed by ENG_team). Eng-team approves then it will be open to support. In this case, we can have support call with VMware to solve the problem. Since it has not been tested with Networker, we cannot go further to discuss with VMware or troubleshoot.

Yes you are right to say that, if networker VMware interviews there may be solutions to the problem you have. But unfortunately at the moment, it is not seems to be possible; While networker code was not prepared to support SRM + replication Vsphere.

    ********************************************************************************************************************************************

EMC then referenced the following link:

    http://solutions.EMC.com/emcsolutionview.asp?ID=esg130882

It seems that for the foreseeable future NetWorker will not support VADP image backups restore if the virtual machine is also protected by using VMware SRM.

  • Create a recovery issue media

I recently bought a Thinkpad Edge 14, which has a DVD - RAM drive. I would use the utility lenovo ThinkVantage tools to take emergency backup disks to restore computer to factory condition ther. However when I run the utility, it notes "DVD-RAM is not supported for CD 1 of the product recovery disc set."

I'm confused. How should I proceed?

As I said, it's probably a good idea to use a cd for the first disc. DVD - r are my personally preferred when you use R & R.

  • U330 partition/OS/recovery issues

What do you do after the vista partition was resized and then deleted and now is the unpartitioned space...

Lenovo partition and another partition for files/drivers hidden BIOS are still in tact.

However, by pressing One - Key Recovery key of the status system does not work. (it worked when originally and I tried to restore the default settings, but he just said during the initialization of an hour + so I restarted hard of y. now that I look back on this topic, maybe I should have waited longer?)

of the recovery disks that were created boot upward in a recovery key, but ask 233 GB of space. which is obviously not available b/c the partition of lenovo is 30 GB and the other I think 14... something?.

at the present time, I can't do the one - key recovery button is working properly, when I press get no cd bootable device - insert and press a key. If I try and put in the recovery discs and press a key hard drive lights n cd drive makes noise for a few seconds then nothing. no action. just blinking cursor.

(this all started b/c I wanted to install XP and double start. but I found out the hard way that it cannot really be done w / how one - key recovery works and without a vista cd (as lenovo does not u). ideally I want to dual boot. However at this stage, I would have rather just the factory settings restored completely by all means necessary) (, so I can use my laptop... anything to avoid having the RMA and wait countless days for a fix).

    Help, please.

    Thank you

Well what I heard in the drinksoy, it's that it has removed the Vista partition [I did too], started with NOVO and tried a factory restore. He remained at the initialization of an hour [did this on my Y430 also] and so it forced a stop [I did the same thing]. Then tried de NOVO, but was prompted to insert some media [I got that too] and NOVO did not any future attempt [that happened with me].

However, I installed Windows XP and discovered that this hidden NOVO partition was is more hidden. I used PTEDIT32. EXE to restore it has original hidden state and NOVO worked again. Remember that, when the computer is turned off and this special key is pressed, he asks the hidden partition to start OneKey Recovery. He reveals to her and allows RAM start OneKey [AFAIK]. If it is no longer hidden, NOVO will stop working.

I don't know if a linux live cd is a program that allows you to do what the PTEDIT32, but you will need to do a search and find. But if you deleted all partitions [including NOVO] of your hard drive as skripatch think you did, you're out of luck and will see if Lenovo can reimage your drive.

Has anyone got a copy of the disc recovery issued with an equium A60-157 PSA67E as I am trying to get this laptop for work and unable to get its hotkeys control and be able to work.

I think I've worn out my wellcome with Equium forum and technical appeal but it's somewhere I myself lack of understanding on this subject.

I loaded all recent downloads listed on their site, but always impossible to get these functions to work.

So can you help me please...

    Hello

Why you n t install a new Windows OS on this laptop?
Missing drivers can be downloaded from the page of European driver of Toshiba.
    All drivers are available!

The recovery disc can be ordered for this model of laptop because it s too old.
Clean install OS Win + drivers is therefore the only option

My hard drive in my dv7 ENVY dies for the second time in two years (it was under warranty last time and I was able to fix). I bought the hard drive same exact (Samsung, 1 TB), tested in BIOS, past everything. When I try to make the image recovery with the HP recovery discs I received the last time my hard drive died, I get an error then that 58% on two recovery disc that says:

    Reducer

    Copy the file fails

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on recovery issues and wanted to help.

Here is the link to the tool of creation of win8.1 media: installation media to create for Windows - 8.1 help Windows

Understand, however, you might encounter a problem installing using the media created from this tool.

You have a version of OEM HP of Win8 installed on your PC, and this means that the product key that is embedded in the motherboard UEFI firmware is OEM, not retail.

While the media created from this tool SHOULD be activated using this key, there is no guarantee he will do.  If it is not the case, you can use this tool to recover your product key and try to enter it manually: Download Windows OEM Product Key Tool - MajorGeeks

IF it still does not work, then your only recourse would be to order a new set of recovery from HP discs.

You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!

However, HP customer care is generally not available on weekends, so you will have to wait until Monday to contact them.

    Good luck

  • Re: Equium P300-P6T - double boot, need to reinstall but can't access the recovery

    Hello

Have a friend s EQUIUM P300-P6T wishing me fix but recovery issues.

It currently has windows 7 installed on separate partitions WXP can choose which operating system to start when loading. The factory for the laptop is Vista but it has replaced the one with 7.
However, some of the Vista Boot files are damaged and cannot be mounted by Windows Recovery then resembles a new Vista installation is necessary.

This should not seem like a problem but:

    (a) I tried holding 0 down as I turn to access the recovery partition (which still exists I see it within the management of the computer if I load xp) but it doesn't do anything, so I can't recover from the recovery partition.
    (b) I tried to reinstall Vista on this partition by using a disk of vista OEM however, when it happens at the stage of "complete installation" the progress bar stays in the same place forever about 3/4 of the way through as if it crashed.
    (c) I managed to get an installation of windows 7 on it, but when I charged it, it does not recognize the keyboard or a touchpad (even if not a problem with the drivers for each), and yet the cursor can be moved with a USB mouse is connected. In addition, the boot partition has now given a choice of "xp", vista, the older installations of windows

I now put the computer to the original state, it was at the moment. However, the road I want to go down is to use the recovery partition to restore the factory settings on this particular partition and Vista.

Does anyone have ideas how I can do this, or what is my best solution? As I said, now pressed 0 while starting has no effect yet the recovery partition is still existing on the hard drive.
Unfortunately there is no recovery media that I have access to.

    Thank you

    Hello

The whole story is very interesting and I wish I could help somehow. Your ad is quite long with very useful information, but, if I understand you correctly, you want to just install Vista original recovery image. Can you confirm this?
If you have any other questions please ask one by one, and then we can answer one by one.

Anyway, if your answer is YES here is my explanation:
Saved on the HARD drive recovery image can be used with the factory only settings. With other words: when the original recovery image is installed, you will have full access to this recovery image. In the case where some other OS is installed (Win7 or WXP) this original condition will be overwritten and you will lose this recovery option (HARD drive recovery facility). Only way it have factory settings again is to use the recovery DVD disc. If your friend didn't create this disc (without taking into account the recommendation of Toshiba s) that you have big problem now.

Please tell us once more what are your options now. What do you do now?
