    Hello mbab85,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you have problems when you try to print on card stock paper.

First of all, the reason why the printer keeps defaulting to Tray 1 is because it's the only Board that supports printing card stock.

What is the size and weight of the card stock you are trying to use?

Here are the specifications of the printer for HP Officejet Pro 8610, 8620, 8630, 8640 and 8660 e - all-in-One Printer Series if you can check if you are in the supported formats and the weight of the paper.

Do not hesitate to write me again anytime, and I'll be happy to help you.

    See you soon,.

  • Cannot select tray 2 copy with Officejet Pro 8600 Premium

    Win 7, 64 bit

    OfficeJet Pro 8600 Premium

I installed the drivers on the disk supplied in the box. (Not sure if there is a new driver or an update yet for this product.)

I bought this printer so that I could load my UPS package labels into a bar of tasks and plain paper in the other.

I loaded the labels into Tray 1 (according to instructions) and paper in tray 2.

I have everything works fine except that I can't understand how to specify tray 2 as the tray to make copies of. In respect of the COPY > SETTINGS > SET SELECT only Tray 1 is displayed.

    Issues related to the:

    (1) why not tray 2 option to copy? How can I fix it? A firmware update maybe?

    (2) printing these UPS labels from tray 2 seems to work very well. Is there a reason why this would be bad?

    Thank you!

Connected by ethernet cable, he downloaded the new version of the firmware (... 1136BR).

That fixed it! Tray 2 is now an option under settings to copy.

The only disappointing is that I asked about a new version of the firmware in my first question... but it took a whole week to get this resolved... and I had little to get to the answer myself!

In any case, now it is fixed and seems to work very well.

  • Select tray 2 as the main tray for all functions

I use the top tray for odd size media and want to set the lower plate (#2) in the Lac main for all functions presented. How this is done on my Officejet Pro 8600 Premium?

    Hello

This can be done in the control panel of the printer and printing software

    To set up the trays

    in your PC

    1. you must select the option Auto tray in the printer software. If the printer is on a network

and you set a default bin, the setting affects all users of the printer.

    On your printer

    1. make sure that the printer is turned on.
    2. tap (right arrow), press Setup, tap preferences and then select default
    Tray or tray Lock.
    3. click on OK or apply after changing settings of the desired tray.

Above measures avaialbe in the manual, please see page 32 in http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03026243.pdf

  • HP 8630 will authorize specifying the second tray for printing shortcut.

All-in-one printer inkjet HP 8630 range Pro will not accept specifying the second tray for printing shortcut. Indicates that the parameter is a conflict and obliges the "Printer Auto Select" option instead of allowing me to select "tray 2" which is an option. I like to keep a white shining in tray one and photo paper in tray 2 and made the my HP 8500 Pro for everything that I needed to do is select the appropriate shortcut configured by me to print the photo. Operating system is windows XP Pro.

I want to start by apologizing for not picking up on this on your first post. The 8630 2nd tray print 8.5 x 11 or 8.5x14 paper.

The reason why what impression pictures he says that there is a conflict and if he chooses the main tray is because there is no choice. The printer does not have the ability to print photos from the 2nd drawer. If you're looking to load media into the trays you need 8.5x11 or 8.5x14 in the 2nd tray and other media can be loaded in the main tray.

In the printer's Specifications in paper output specifications > paper tray capacity & Supported sizes of paper in you shows what's available for trays.

Change the source of your document must make all the problems disappear.

    Kind regards

    Hi Greg,.

At present, the 8600 does not support this feature of Microsoft. Unfortunately, there is no work around. You must manually select tray 2:

1 Ctrl + p to open the print dialog window.

2 Select the printer of desire and click the preference.

    3. go tab paper/quality, then select "Tray 2" on the decline of the Source of the paper in the menu dropdown.

  • 8620 + 2nd plateau: 8620 + 2nd default tray always in Tray 1 even when tray 2 is selected

    Hello

I have a new 8620, so I bought the 2nd set of HP direct.

I use an Imac with OSX El Capitan.

I loaded in all the normal paper bins.

I have put 1 as a defuault tray tray. When I try and print via my text editing software or any other software and I select tray 2 into the presets, it ALWAYS prints from Tray 1. The only way, he goes to tray 2 If Tray 1 is empty.

I have change the default to tray 2 and then select Tray1 to print and it will not print at all.

The software is not acutally allowing me to use as 2 separate trays.

I use 2 documents of standard 8.5 x 11 for my business, but one is for invoices and I need to be able to select different trays.

Also I noticed in the presets when selecting to print from the ADF, it will also not print from there, he pulls from Tray 1 again.

    Thank you

If the full name of the printer is not correctly, delete and add the printer name back from the list. Click on the sign - to remove the driver and then click on the + sign to add the driver might have to drop-down list to select the name of the printer to add a click.

Please check the settings for the paper trays. The information is provided on page 31 of the manual, Officejet 8620

  • Copy default tray in mode selection

I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Premium with two paper trays.  Everything works well when the printing directions are sent to any one of my three computers.  The default tray (tray 2) has my paper supply Tray 1 has envelopes.  It is a great system when I print letters and envelopes using MS Word.  However, when I want to copy anything, the printer selects Tray 1, even if I named him tray 2 as the default tray on computers and printers.  Can someone tell me what I should do to get the printer to use tray 2 when I'm in the copy mode?  So far I've been switching the two plates when I copy something, but it's a big pain in the back.  I tried the reprogramming of the printer, but without success.  Help!

on the 8600 copy has its own Board of adjustment. Just tap the arrow pointing downwards in the menu copy and you will see the selection of the status bar, the parameter should be sticky.

  • Select the default tray when printing from MS Word or any other application HP OfficeJet 8610

    Hello

We have HP OfficeJet 8610 with additional tray. So, we have Tray1 and bac2. That's what I read in the specs of the printer about how we can use the bins:

    • Loaded into all of the paper trays and use paper from a tray if the other tray is empty
    • Loaded into all trays and paper of one of the bins first use
    • Be able to choose plain paper and another type of paper that you use occasionally

    My question is:

Let's say that we have put the tray 2 as the default tray.

In MS Word or any other application in layout, you can define special tray (say 1 tray) paper source. This means that the document should be printed on paper from the selected tray (Tray 1). But in our case, the document is always printed using paper from the default tray (tray 2).

Could you please confirm that this is the expected behavior?

    Thank you so much, Ana.

    Hi @AnaGligorijevic,

I understand that you want to be able to print the same document at different trays and change the setting via the Word software. This printer is not able to change the settings of the tray for different pages in the same document to multiple pages.

To work around this problem, you can use the parameter to "print pages." "Select it print pages selected, then for other pages ' print pages" yet once and then change the parameters of the status bar of the application.

The application, you can change the settings of the tray for 1 page or a multiple page document. But it will print all pages of the specified tray.

Hope that makes sense. Thank you!

Second paper tray added OfficePro 8600 more.   Printer recognizes second tray to tray 2.  Changed to render settings of the printer tray default 2.

Browsers (Fire Fox) also print only from the Board one, what is envelopes.

How can I tell the printer to select tray 2 paper letter?

    Thank you.

I see that you are having problems with the 2nd set, this can be confusing. You will need to go into the actual printer settings and change TRAY 2 as default. On the touch screen, select:

    1. click on the configuration Menu
    2. click on Preferences
    3. default tray
    4. Select tray 2

After selecting this option, and then try to print and see how it goes. Don't forget with the 2nd plateau, its not installed with printer drivers, so you have to put all the letter paper in TRAY 2 (as you already have). Any other type of paper (legal, envelopes, etc.) will still go into Tray 1.

Let me know if this can help, thank you.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600: Printing from tray 2 Hp8600

I recently bought a 3 microsoft surface, and for some reason when I go to print I can no longer select tray 2, happens with tray 1. I have tried a number of things, looked at preferences and even followed the steps in this post http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/Easy-selection-printing-to-tray-1-or-2/td-... all the way to step 33, but the paper/quality tab is not either.

    Can anyone help?

    Hi danjambal,

    Thank you for your answer!

The steps for Windows 8 will run on Windows 10. Please, try the following:

    1. Right click or touch and hold the bottom left of the screen to open the menu. In the menu, click or tap on the Control Panel, then click on or type printers and display devices.

    2. Right click or tap and hold the icon of the printer () for your printer, and then click or tap Print Preferences.

    3. In the Printing Preferences menu, select paper/quality.

    4. In the paper Source drop-down list, select tray 2.

    5. In the paper size drop-down list, select the size of paper suitable for the print job.

    6. Click or click on apply, and then click or tap on OK.

      NOTE:

Follow these same steps for the default print tray back to Tray 1.

If these steps do not work, there could be a nuisance pilot. Please try our HP print and Scan Doctorand let me know what happens!

If it helps, please consider clicking on "accept as a solution." And, please click the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • Photosmart 7525: photosmart 7525 photo tray - how to get the photo tray to use instead of the main tray

I use a computer from Dell using Windows 8.1 desktop 64-bit.  Printer is HP Photosmart all-in-one 7525.  The software is Microsoft Picture Manager.   I want to print a photo .jpg of MS Picture Manager for paper photo 4 x 6 I have loaded in the photo printer paper tray.  The problem is that printing is still trying to main paper tray in the printer.  Remove all paper from the main tray just causes the print operation to not to say that the main paper tray is in the paper.    If the main tray contains plain paper, the photo printed on this paper.  I have the printer set up to use the photo tray.  I select HP 4 x 6 paper in MS Picture Manager and also set Picture Manager to the highest print quality.  But no mater what I tried, the printer selects tray to main paper rather than the smaller photo paper tray.  The printed image is 4 x 6, but it is printing on paper of the main plate.  What I am doing wrong?

Well - I found that among the pop ups related print had a link 'options' that seems to indicate that it could be me trying to change things which were not suitable for my printer - so I didn't click the link.  So this time I didn't click the link and he showed me up - again - to set the s/w to use the photo tray.  So I did and the photo made print from the photo rather than the main tray tray.  So now I know how to do and don't need to mess with trinkets or all other signs, you've shown me.  Thank you for taking the time to try to help me.  I appreciate your help.  CR

  • 6520 Photosmart photo printer tray

I'm on Windows XP. Is it possible to turn off an automatic print for the top photo tray? I have some forms of small card and the printer is trying to print on the top shelf. I put the Properties window to main tray and letter size paper, but he always tries to print to the top photo tray.

Just double checked some research your post. The printer will AUTOMATICALLY select from the 2nd drawer when TRAY 1 is empty. When TRAY 1 is empty, you need to change the computer settings or the default printer it to TRAY 2. HP LaserJet printers have this feature where it will automatically select TRAY 2 when TRAY 1 is empty. The Officejet does not have this compatibility.

  • Paper not pulling from the correct TRAY

You already have a printer (Officejet) double tray and can't seem to get the correct tray. Here are some tips that may help you resolve this problem.

The reason why you have this problem, because the 2nd TRAY is not apart from the printer DRIVERS. So you should have to tell the computer where to print them from changes on the printer itself.

    1. go into your CONFIGURATION menu of your printer

    2. choose PREFERENCES

    3. go in the DEFAULT TRAY

    4. Select TRAY 2 as default

The LETTER paper will always be in TRAY 2.

Any other type of paper, (legal, envelopes, cards, labels, etc.) will have to go in TRAY 1

You will still need to choose what type of paper you are printing in the preferences of your computer.
