HP 940 ink cartridges: ink changes if I update printer?

My 'printer HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless all-in-One - A909g"seems to have recurring problems with the touch screen becomes unresponsive and I think it's time to consider an upgrade to a newer model.  However, I bought ink (940xl black and multiple colors) in anticipation of a much longer life for this product.  Is there a program for exchanging ink if I switch to a newer model printer?

    Photosmart B8550

XL 564 ink cartridges sit also in the same print head? Or do I need to buy a big print head to accommodate XL ink cartridges?

I ask this is because 564 plain ink cartridges seem to fit pretty snuggly here, so I don't see how a wide range of ink cartridges could go in there!

Or what is the standard ink cartridges are only half full and XL ink cartridges are full, so they use the same ink cartridge?

    Thank you!

As long as you use the same number 564, etc. 940 XL just means that it gives more volume page. So, you can use the same print head...

  • HP ENVY 5530: Printer HP moment of new ink and now can't print with cartridges, I have already

I recently had my printer replaced by HP due to a fault. I was told to just my HP cartridges that I did. However, I am bound to instant ink all with my printer which means now that I can't use the full ink cartridges that I have.

Please notice that I am now without once again my printer that is causing me a huge disadvantage tonight.

    Hi @Badger4

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I understand that you are registered in the instant the ink program and you have had your printer replaced. I would like to help.

I feel that this printer has not been replaced by the instant the ink Department. That or someone left dropped the ball.

Instant ink cartridges are "locked" to the printer they are first installed in and may not be used for other printers. Who told you to swap the ink has made a mistake. In addition, your instant ink related to the old printer account must have been canceled. You should have been asked to contact the team of instant ink in order to register the replacement printer.

You can join the team of instant ink via Facebook, Twitter or call the appropriate phone number. @happytohelp has an answer with all the current contact numbers and times to day. You can find it here.

  • "Black ink cartridge is not compatible with this printer" message - 56 HP deskjet 5552

I just replaced my HP 56 cartridge in my old printer HP Deskjet 5552 - I use an iMac & when I try to print, I get the message error "black ink cartridge is not compatible with this printer.

It makes no sense that I replaced the cartridge many times before without ever having a problem.

I have already returned a cartridge to the store where it was a problem with the cartridge itself, but the same thing happened with a second.

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

  • HP 56 black cartridge 3/4 full, will not print

I just finished several rounds of print head cleaning on a HP 56 black cartridge, which, when I installed it, wouldn't print. It still does not work. When I go to the Toolbox of the HP Officejet 5500 series and click the estimated ink level, it indicates that the tank is at least 3/4 full. This cartridge was first opened earlier when I found the previous ink cartridge (having been informed by the printer the ink level is low). It turns out that there is still ink in the old cartridge, however, if I put the spare back cartridge in its original packing, after removing the orange tape and put the cartridge and packaging in a plastic bag. Is it possible to get this cartridge goes again?

The printhead has dried up due to being exposed to the air with the Ribbon removed.  You might be able to recover by running up to three cycles of cleaning of the Toolbox.  If it does not then try to belittle the cartrdige nozzles in about 1 "of very hot water for 10 minutes.  Then, remove the cartrdige and wipe the contacts with a damp cloth cartrdige.  Gently pat dry the printhead on a damp cloth.  If you get a black streak and replace the cartridge in the printer and try again with the cleaning routine.

  • 364XL cartridges do not match my Photosmart printer 7520

I recently bought replacement ink cartridges for my printer Phtotsmart 7520 (all 364 XL).  I used the HP tool to make sure that I found the correct cartridges, and according to what I read (also on the cartridge packaging) they should adapt my printer.  However when I try to install them they do not match.  They seem to be too fat for the holder.  I see that the cartridges have been designed in 2010, but the impression outside the box has a brand of author date date 2013 - so be greater to 2010 - kind must adapt.  What Miss me?

    Thank you

    Sean

OK - I've solved the problem - user stupidity! I tried to put the black cartridge in the slot of the picture. It does not work!

  • HP Deskjet 812c - CMY new cartridge (HP 23) - yellow does not print (but it is)

Yes, I know... it is a dinasour printer but it has been a workhorse for me since I bought it when it first came out (1998!). I use it often, but she remained loyal.  Judged non HP cartridges, but they are not as good, so PLOPPED down the money for a cartridge HP 23 CMY legitimate again.  Expiration date: December 2013.

I can see the streaks of ink for all 3 colors on the head of nozzle/so that means there are in there, and all the rest print - C M and K, but not of Y. I tried some old cartridges that I forgot to recycle in the hope that I could get some of them out of one of them though but weak , but that no longer works.

I also tried to print from more than one program and Windows 7 generic print test page in the case where there are a few color program setting somewhere that was the cause.  Banned, same result overall. I swab clean the nozzle/head, lined up, even began.  Always without Y.

I wonder itf it's a question of management of system colors, although if there are streaks on copper head of the 23 HP where it meets the surface of the paper, it seems to be working, just do not hit the paper.  Electric prods on the printer which meets the back of the eye of the cartridge clean too.

Maybe it's a cosmic hint to get a new printer, but I live on a fixed income from social security and every penny counts. I paid too just for a new cartridge.

    Suggestions, hosted solutions.
    Thank you.

    ~ Philp Knight

    Hi Newsoniclight,

If this is a new OEM cartridge, and it is not printing yellow the first thing to do is to follow the steps outlined in the document below, and then if you continue to have the problem, you can support in the 800-474-6836 since the cartridges have their own guaranteed separate printer. If you do not live in the United States / Canada region please click the link below to get help from your region number.

  • HP Deskjet 3520 - why complete dump HP cartridges after putting in place new printer?

I came across the question of printing black ink not spilled on my printer HP deskjet 3520.

At first, unaware of this dysfunction, I inserted a brand new original cartridge HP 364 XL because the black ink level was low and I thought that it there was not enough black ink left black.

It has not solved the problem. After looking around on the web and on this forum, I understand that it is rather a feature of these printers. So I called HP support.

Although the warranty has expired by a month or two, HP agreed to replace it and sent a new printer (I appreciated!).

When I want to set up and start this new printer, it refuses my brand new HP364XL and requires that I have insert the cartridges that were provided with the new printer.

Why should I unload a brand new - just opened but HP black unused original cartridge?

How can I get this new printer to accept it?

I do not understand why it should not:

-C' is a waste of my money: the cartridges are not cheap. Therefore, it is not really respectful of the customer.

-C' is to lose material is environmentally irresponsible. It's not respectful of the environment.

-C' is simply absurd that HP printer doesn't accept HP cartridge.

Those are the values that HP really wants to convey?

    Overthesea,

I'm guessing here - forgive the ignorance of the truth of the facts.

HP stands behind its products - it has been proven time and time again that this is the case.  I am pleased to learn that you have received your replacement printer.

I suspect that your new printer replacement wants you install installation cartridges required for initialization of the printer.  This is a procedure that is common to the new printers technology.

Once this process is complete - a few minutes really, even if you could leave the SETUP cartridges in the printer, you can replace cartridges INSTALLATION with cartridges regular (expensive) HP that you want to use and continue life as you know.

If this is the case, the cartridges that came with this new printer are indeed marked the cartridges 'Setup '.

Your cartridges in a bag well sealed for a few moments and let the printer initialize correctly with its new cartridges.

    This can solve the problem.

    For later:

If you seal these cartridges of INSTALLATION very well (after removing the printer), you might be able to use them later if the printer decides to restore in an error state and want to use it again.  It is rare; He arrived.  Just a thought...

  • How to print without yellow toner cartridge in a hp CP1215 laser printer. I broke the yellow cartridge.

I accidentally broke my brand new hp CP1215 Laser printer yellow cartridge. I just want to use only other colors like magenta and cyan etc. But the printer is not printing at all because there is no yellow cartridge.

Is there a way to print using other colors such as magenta or cyan? I want to type text only (development) using these colors. I use Windows 7 Ultimate and hp CP1215 Color Laser printer.

I would like to underline a text using magenta or cyan to show important points. I want to use the colors black, magenta and cyan in the text. Changing the settings to print only black and white can not do this.

Unfortunately, you'll have to buy a yellow toner cartridge to solve the problem.
