  • Finger scanner does not work

    Hello.

My scanner on my HP Envy 17 finger - laptop Whatever has worked since I got it, but this morning, something went wrong. Any finger I scan, he always tells me that the fingerprint was not found in the database. I tried to open the program that comes with the fingerscanner thing to reset the settings and try to put a finger in the database again, but it still does not work. It is said that my finger has been added correctly and that I can now use it to connect, but every time I try to connect it says always the same "the fingerprint is not found in the database" - something like that.

    What can I do?

    Kind regards

    Hi there @12344321broken.

Thank you for joining the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is a great place to ask questions, find solutions and get help from others in the community! I read your post on the Forums of HP Support. I wanted to join you and help! I understand that the scanner on your laptop computer finger printing does not work correctly. You mentioned you tried to solve the problems already adding new fingerprints, but that they still do not work.

Have you tried to update the driver in Device Manager? If this isn't the case, please follow these steps:

    • Open the Device Manager
    • Search for biometric devices
    • Under biometric devices, look for the device (called Validity Sensor sensor AuthenTec)
    • Right-click on the fingerprint sensor
    • Click on set to update driver
    • Restart your computer.

If this does not work, make sure that you delete the old footprints in SimplePass and sign new. Please go to:

    • Control Panel
    • Programs
    • HP SimplePass
    • Scroll down to register fingerprints
    • Click and enter your fingerprints.

If this does not help, I would say uninstall fingerprint driver and reinstall the updated release of the pilot.

    • Open the Device Manager
    • Search for biometric devices
    • Under biometric devices, look for the device (called Validity Sensor sensor AuthenTec)
    • Right-click on the fingerprint sensor
    • Click on uninstall
    • Restart your computer.

  • Printer Envy 5542: Envy 5542 printer Scanner does not

When I try and scan shows that the scan on the printer screen, but still like that - nothing happens.  How to operate?

    Hi @Kingy1,

Thank you for reaching out to the HP support forums for a solution to your printer problem.

I understand that you use a HP ENVY 5542 e-all-in-one printer with a Windows 10 computer when you try to scan the printer shows 'scanning' on the screen of the printer, but nothing happens. I would like to help with that.

Is there an error message that appears after the printer is finally that the scan will not happen?

You connect with a USB cable or via a wireless network?

I would like to start by making a power reset the printer just to erase an error status, just in case it is in one.

Then I download and run the HP print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and scanning of the questions.

Please let me know how printing HP and doctor Scan is going, or if you need assistance.

In fact, if it helps you to find a solution, please click on the 'accept as Solution' and the 'thumbs up' buttons down below in this message.

  • HP Envy 7640: HP Envy 7640 Scanner does not work.

I got a new printer HP Envy 7640. Prints beautifully, but the scanner does not work. I can not make copies, I can't scan something and send it by e-mail or save it in my flash drive, and of course I can't print with my hp pc. I followed the instructions I found in the doctor but it does not work either. I followed the instructions I found on this forum and it does not work either. What can I do?

I had to go back, because the scanner came broken from the factory. Then they gave me another printer and has so far been working well. Thank you.

  • Office jet 6500 a Plus: Office jet 6500 Scanner does not work on iMac

I have a printer, scanner, fax Officejet 6500.  Before the update of my modem, printing and scanning wireless worked perfect.  After a new modem only the printer works.  Bought a USB cable to connect to iMac running OS - El Capitan.  Printer works fine but the scanner does not work.  I uninstalled HP applications, printer deleted from system preferences.  Restart the computer.  Reinstalled with the latest drivers and add printer in system preferences.  Printer works fine but still no scan.  During the call to the top of the scanner/printer in system preferences, I see two options, one for print and other to analyze.  Queue only appears.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I see that you are not able to scan from your Officejet 6500 a Plus e-All-In-One to your computer Mac OSX 10.11. I can help you with that.

    4. Click on reset printing system.
    5. Click on the button "+" in the corner.
    6. Select your printer from the list.
    7. Click in the box next to and select your printer.

    Hi @niklasmama,

Here are the directions to make a scan from the printer to a computer I found in the HP Photosmart C5200 User Guide.

If the scan from the printer to the computer is not working properly, there is a problem with the drivers and the printer software.

  • Scanner does not work for all users on the computer Windows 7

Photosmart 7510 Scanner does not work.  My scanner has the habit of work.   Now it does not for one of the three users on my Windows 7 desktop.

I spent over 3 hours on the phone with HP.   They had me restart the computer, Plug and unplug the printer, reinstall the software twice under different names. The software depending on what user id, it is installed under allows access to the scanner/printer to one or more users.  The scanner works with Windows Paint software for all three nicknames.

HP response is that some user control prevents the scanner software, who used to work on all three nicknames on the computer, which now works on one or more of the users.  They couldn't tell me which user control need changing.

The HP solution is to restore my system when I could scan for all users of three.   I don't want to do that.   Does anyone have a better solution?

The real problem is HP error messages.   When I click on scan a document, there is no answer.  Nothing happened.

Then I tried to scan using Windows Fax and Scan.   I got an error message which helped me locate the source of the error.   I was able to fix the problem without creating a new user account.  I had deleted bu error the file MY Document.   Restore this file fixes the problem.

    Hi @SideSaddle

    have you tried this

    Navigate to C:\Program Files (x 86) \HP\HP Officejet 6700\bin

Right click on hpscan.exe and click on "Pin to Start", now you should be able to run the scan directly.
