HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC TS: Fingerprint Reader driver issues

Before I upgraded to WIndows 10 my fingerprint reader work properly.  I used it to connect to the laptop.  After the 10 Windows, upgrade and update of my first Norton 360 to a compatible version of windows 10 I got an error in for the fingerprint reader device manager.  I uninstalled the driver (Device Manager said that the registry entries have been corrupted).  After four hours of trying to find the right driver on the HP site, I was able to install validity sensor Driver version 4.4.232.0 dated dated 18/08/12, which recognizes the device.  However, it now under the tab ' events/information"error message:"USB\VID_138A & PID_0050\2012482178ab device still requires the installation."

The fingerprint reader is completely ineffective: no lights at startup.

I'd appreciate any help anyone could offer to solve this problem.  The fingerprint reader is a nice feature.

Thank you

Bill

    HI @vdolcourt,

    Thank you for your query.

I seized you fingerprint reader was working fine but suddenly stopped.

You did it all change hardware or software because he worked? You did all your Windows updates?

You have the last validity sensor driver installed. The HP Support Assistant can help you in this process.  Here is a link for HP Notebook PCs - troubleshooting a (Windows 8) fingerprint reader. The steps should be the same for Windows 10.    Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver?

    Looking forward to your update.

  • ENVY 17 t-J100 Leap Fingerprint reader seeing Motion?

My brother has the motion of non-saut ENVY 17 t-J000. And he has a LED indicator to the left of the sensor fingerprint that lights in white or orange when you drag your finger. Which is really nice to know that it has detected your finger when you think that nothing is happening.

But I just got the Motion Leap of his laptop computer version, and I don't see any LEDS light up when I slide my finger. The sensor works well though.

So my question is, can confirm one that this model has or that there is no LED indicator as the motion of non-saut feel LIKE? I don't want to lose time to call HP if this model does not have the LED indicator. But if he does, I need to have the unit repaired or replaced before I get it all together at the top.

Weird that it is not displayed, here's an imgur link, in case you still want to see

I've seen non - Leap Motion want and it is similar, as you say. Really weird that it does not work, especially since you said that the fingerprint reader itself works. I hope you have better luck with the replacement!

I wonder if your system is an upgrade (Windows 8 for Windows 8.1); There is no a SimplePass program listed for the OS Windows 8.1.  Upgrades can be tricky - SimplePass runs very well on a system upgrade, and then - poof!  Not-so-good.  IF your OS is an upgrade, the following may or may not be as useful - however, we invite you to take a look at the following and I hope it helps.

Open the file > click Download > click 'open in Adobe Reader.

    HP SimplePass upgrade instructions

    • The 'official' document HP link is to Page 2 - take a look at this.
    • Jump to the bottom of Page 10 (updated) - follow the procedure in the order of Hard Reset

Reminder: stay calm: there is a device reset, it will not erase your computer.

    • If no joy, see Page 5: procedure - updated / (install HP SimplePass Re)

Of course, you are welcome to read the entire document.  Understand that this is NOT a document of HP; It is not written in a particular format or order - it's more a collection to a specification.  The smile.

  • HP Envy 15-j140na: HP SimplePass fingerprint reader incentive is not to connect

    Hello

I just bought the HP Envy 15-j140na sound of HP. The laptop is fantastic, but I'm having a problem with the fingerprint reader. The computer comes with the simplepass 8.00.57 already installed the version of the software.

The problem I have, is that once I implemented the simple passage fingerprint reader, it lead me to analyze my impression when connecting windows and I have to log on normally. I checked all the settings and it should be implemented, however there is no prompt. Just to emphasize that everything works fine. I can't sign in Web sites on IE no problem at all using the fingerprint reader. It can be a little frustrating because it goes against the interest of having a fingerprint reader.

Any help to operate would be greatly apprecieted,

    Bravo guys.

  • HP Envy dv6 7323 CL: my fingerprint reader does not work

My fingerprint reader has stopped working.  It is a validity sensors (WBF) (PID = 0018). It worked once I updated to Windows 10 but has stopped now. I opened the Device Manager, the device was hidden, and when I tried to update the drivers of the update of the driver indicates that all the drivers are current, this is checked when I open the 'Détails' tab and go to the section selected user driver installed (). I then checked the "General tab" which had the following message now, "this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45); To resolve this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer. "Then I checked under"location information"that are listed as port #0003. Hub_ #0001. Additinally, verifying the Universal Serial Bus controllers it lists a device with the following message, "unknown USB Device (device descriptor request Failed)."  Under details, I noticed the following: location information is port #0003. Hub_ #0001. The problem code is 0000002B. On the tab "Général" is the message "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) »

I've already owned a desire to 15 (etc.), which had a fingerprint reader work (perfectly). I gave my son and bought the 17-j130ea for me. The new machine has the upper housing to the fingerprint reader, but it became obvious from the BIOS, and material check in Windows there is nothing under the read head slot. Hi all

    I just bought a M10 - 17 H and was updated for Windows 7 64-bit system.
I used the drivers [posted by Toshiba | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?].

Everything was therefore acknowledged properly share the fingerprint reader and a controller PCI of communication Simple.

I tried the driver provided in the link above (also the uninstall after the driver installation program) useless.
When windows 7 has been installed (new installation) the drive has not been recognized either.

I also installed the [driver beta Authentec 64bits | http://www.authentec.com/win7beta64.cfm] yet once anything is.

    Hello gurus,

I installed Win7 RC on my X 60 and all is well.

My colleague mentioned that Win7 has native support for the use of a fingerprint reader, and I would try it rather than using the Lenovo Client Security Solution.

I have a clean Device Manager now except for the "biometric" coprocessor, which I suppose is the fingerprint reader.

No idea how I can get the driver for it?

    Thank you
