HP Envy 4500, Officejet J5700: Two HP printers, a just put in place, skip lines when printing

Last night I had to change a black ink cartridge in my old HP Officejet J5700. When stopping the cover, one of the locks popped or broken, which I have not been able to resolve. To avoid an error message constant "open door" and print that I had to press the printer and everything that he printed was messed up. He jumped out of the lines, the tails of letters have been cut. The cartridge could not be aligned, kept in check. Test pages and the page alignment all printed with gaps in them as the document I tried to print. I thought the crazy impression had to do with breaking the latch and the lid is ajar. I bought a month ago of 4500 want and never updated, never out of the box. I wanted to use ink that I stocked up on for the Officejet before install the new printer. In any case, I thought I was really done with the former and so today, I created the desire and I have exactly the same problem printing. Ignored rows, tails cut letters. However, it seems that came with the printer cartridges aligned properly, no error message. A report of print quality gaps in it. What is happening and what can do?

After that take the ink cartridges and put them backwards once or twice the old printer prints normally again, too. The lock is still broken, but I can print if I push down on the printer.

Best I can tell by looking at the installation packages, two software are not in conflict with one another, in other words, it should be possible to connect two printers.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600: Thin vertical lines when printing photos

The printer referenced did a fabulous job to print photographs.  In this case, the printer is fairly recent and has recently recently consumed the original cartridges when it was decided to try to use it for photo printing.  Therefore, the fabulous results were extracted relatively new cartridges and consisted of at least a dozen photo printing in various sizes.  Then all of a sudden these thin vertical straight lines began to appear in print.  They are equidistant on the full image.  That they appear in the printed image.  When using paper letter (8.5 x 11) to print an image cropped at 8 x 10 with landscape orientation spacing is about 1 1/8 (one and one-eighth) inches or 8 evenly spaced vertical lines.  Somewhat like the photo was divided into 8 columns.

According to the printer built in ink gauge, that the cartridges are now just a little more than half full.

These lines are narrow enough so that they are not very visible when printing on normal paper (copy).  They would probably be imperceptible on many kinds of printed documents.  However, they become quite noticeable and reprehensible when using good quality (in this case HP) photo paper to print photos.

Absence of a printer resolution is not good for photo printing.

In addition to the troubleshooting suggests that the problem is not due to the printer, but rather to the software used to perform the printing. It was not immediately obvious that I printed only photos using Picasa and it worked fine and then all of a sudden the problem developed. However, I have now tried to print the same photos with other software and there is no problem for the steps.

The Picasa forum also has many messages wanting to be the same or a similar problem to what I have experienced. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an explanation for a repeatable cause, nor a specific solution. Some hacking autour with the settings and options seems to be in order. If it does not then print with other software may be necessary.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 has just put in place and feel is biased

I just bought and put in place the 8500, everything seems fine, except that when I print from the computer I only get half of the page and it is all asymmetrical on paper. I tried the copy function, I got the full page, but he was also seriously twisted.

I've lined up the printheads twice for nothing doesn't.

Usually tilt occurs when the paper guides into the support in the status bar are not tightly against the paper.  This allows the paper is introduced at different pressures along the edge and it gets introduced into the printer at an angle.

You can also take the paper from the printer, turn 180 degrees (so that the front edge is now the back edge) and put it back in the printer.  If you print again and the skew going the other way, that the paper is not cut right.

You should also check that there is nothing in the drain plug rear tray and the tray or the duplexer is completely down.

As soon as we have the issue fixed tilt, we can see if we still have a problem with the 1/2 page print.

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I would like to help you today with the addition of your wireless HP ENVY 4500 e-all-in-one printer on your computer Mac OS X 10.10. I understand that everything has started when you accidentally reset your printer settings. Therefore, I will start by ensuring that your printer is always connected wireless. Once we determine if the printer is on the network and 'talk' wireless with your Mac, you should be able to (+) add your printer back in. Please follow the steps below.

    Step 1: Check of connectivity:

    1. On your printer, down arrow until see you Wireless
    2. Select OK in the wireless
    3. Select Wireless details and click OK
    4. Make a note of the IP address that appears
    5. On your Mac, open your internet browser
    6. In the address bar type the IP (omit for www.)
    7. Search this site
    • Opens a Web site for your printer: If means that your printer and your computer "speak" wireless. Please proceed to step 4 below.
    • If a Web site for your printer does not open: This means that your printer and your computer communicate wirelessly. This would result in your Mac not to 'see' the printer (+) Add again. In addition, If none displays IP address on the printer, which means that the printer is is more connected to your wireless network. Please follow the steps below.

Step 2: Run the Setup wireless Assistant:

    1. On the front panel of your printer, down arrow for the Wireless option
    2. Click OK
    3. Select the wireless configuration wizard , and then click OK
    4. When you are prompted to choose your network name SSID
    5. Fill in your password (key) wireless. It is case sensitive.
    6. Once the wireless is connected successfully, check the IP address of the printer
    7. Now, on your Mac take the IP address and enter it in the address bar of your internet browser
    8. Search this site
    • If the Web site for your printer opens: The printer and the computer are now 'talk' wireless. Please proceed to step 4 below.
    • If the Web site for your printer does not open: The printer and the computer are not 'talk' wireless. Please proceed to the next step.

    Step 3: Powercycle network:

    1. Start by unplugging the power cable to your router
    2. Once your router is unplugged, turn your printer off
    3. Then, shut down your computer
    4. After 30 seconds to 1 minute, reconnect your router back in
    5. Then, turn on your printer
    6. Turn on the computer

After a few minutes the internet connection will be back. On your computer to access a few sites test Web to verify that the internet is running correctly. Once the internet works again check again the IP address of your printer. Try to open the site on your Mac printers again using the printers IP address.

Once you are able to open to the site of printers successfully, proceed to the next step.

    Step 4: Add your printer:

    1. click on the menu of Apple , then Preferences System.

    2. click on Print & Scan

    3. click on the plus sign , click Add a printer or a Scanner, click the name of your printer

    4. click on the area of use or with the help of Print and then select the name of your printer on the shortcut menu. Ensure that the driver HP Envy is.

    5. click Add to add the printer to the list.

Now that your printer is added, please try printing again.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

Is there a firmware update for the HP Envy 4500 for Mac OS X 10.6.8 users?  Expansion has worked well until recently. I solved the problem extends last week by turning the printer off, unplug from the wall, wait a few minutes, reconnect, turn on, and then you use tools to reset the printer to its default settings.  That did not work today.  I downloaded again the driver of HP and re-installed, but I can not enlarge copies.  I sw this message stream, but cannot find how to download an update of the firmware, since I'm on a Mac computer. Please notify.

    Hi @garden-2009.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that you have problems with the resizing of the copies with your HP Envy 4500 printer. I'm happy to help with this problem!

To download the latest firmware, please consult this guide, get printer updates for HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3540, 4640, HP 4500 ENVY and HP Officejet 4630 e-all-in-one printer series.

I would also be sure that the power cable from the printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet, not a surge protector. Questions when it is connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power. This is true for printers and ink jet.

Let's start with these two steps and see what happens!

    Hello @ginger20 ,

    Welcome to the HP forum.

I understand that when you try to print, you get invited to a fax.

    I would like to help.

When you install a fax printer capable it creates usually two icons.

In your scenario, one would be HP Envy 4500 and other fax HP Envy 4500.

More time in this case the default printer was set to the fax version.

    Go into devices and printers.

Right-click on the fax printer no, and then select set as default.

If you have only an icon, right-click it.

Then hover over to set as default printer.

This should produce a list of printers 'stacked' on this icon.

I hope this helps. If you need more help please let me know.

    Hello

Thank you for using the forum.

To use the Scan software on your printer, you will need to download and install the printer driver.

We recommend that you download the full features and it can be found here:

Once you have installed the software, you can click the icon for the printer on the desktop and it will bring up the HP Printer Wizard and you can use the Scan software.

You will first need to scan more than one page, select "Save as PDF".

Once you've scanned the first page, in order to scan several pages, you will need to click on 'Add page' (as shown)

When you are finished, you can save the document.
