  As the error code relates to a short drive Self Test failure - the only real solution to this is to replace the hard drive.

• HP G62-355DX laptop: need to replace HD, how xfer o/s on new disc?

  To the first would freeze on the way IE.  Could not restart due turn.  Seemed do better when go on the Net using Chrome, but after some time has frozen new same way.  Then began to notice would freeze when not on the Net.  Went to Bios done memory, test run in the test and the HD. Called HP to see how id item failure means and they said that my HD went out. Looking to buy the new HD.  But the laptop did not come with installation floppies, came preloaded.  How can I get my o/s on the new HD?  I have the D drive as a recovery disk (almost complete), Norton online backup service.  Already transferred my important files on cd and some added programs that came with laptop.  I was also told that I could save my 'c' on an external disk drive, I then download HD again and that would work... is it true?  Can I just copy the 'c' External drive and then again copy HD and everything will be like it was before?  Need answers as soon as possible please.  Currently using desktop downstairs in the cold room and different and slower operating systems... I hate it!  Want my laptop back wireless!  Help, please!

  You will surely find this cloning (copy) the existing HARD disk will not be successful for success if the drive is already a failure, however, there are two other options available.

  1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

  2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

  Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

  You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the Disk Image correct ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Windows Image is Digital River.

  It is extremely hard to do and even harder to explain how do. You must first get a mental picture of how the key is attached and how to build media bit (I call them the 'bridge') under the key. I just spent an hour doing this Saturday on one last model G62 and it has not been easy.
