HP Officejet 4635 e: ERROR of SCANNING

When I try to scan to my computer, the printer and my laptop comes up with an error. My laptop says that something there is no shortcut to scan on my device and to uninstall the printer and reinstall? Really? When I first hooked the printer until it worked. now, it doesn't. I don't know why, I'm having this problem because I don't need to scan very often so I've used the scan maybe part 3 times.  Can anyone help please.

Hello! Welcome to the HP community @dinman68,

I saw your post on the scan problem you are having with your Officejet 4635 on your system Windows 10 and wanted to answer with my suggestions that should help you. If you have already tried to uninstall and reinstall the printer and the scanner issue continues, try the steps down below, which are more in depth and should help to rescan. Let me know the results when you are done troubleshooting.

First step: clean boot, restart the PC and try the install again.

1. start by typing "msconfig" in the search box of Cortana, and then click MSConfig (run command)
On your keyboard press Windows + R key at same time and type Msconfig in the run window, and then click OK or press ENTER.

2. now, choose Selective startup

3. Remove the check of the Load Startup items

4. click on the Services tab

5. check "hide all Microsoft Services" and then click on disable all

6. click apply , then OK

7 restart the PC and temporarily disable firewalls or antivirus programs

8 run the Installation Wizard for Windows HP printer to install the printer

9 turn on the firewall and start services

Second step: you unregister and re-register the Windows Installer Service:

1. hold down the Windows key + R to fill the box "Run" and type cmd.exe, and then click OK.
2. at the command prompt, type msiexec /Unregister , and then press ENTER.
3. at the command prompt, type msiexec/regserver, and then press ENTER.
4. at the command prompt, type exit and press ENTER to close the command prompt.
5. run the Wizard for Windows HP printer installation

Step 3: run System File Checker Scan (up to 3 times) to repair the corrupted system files:
1. go to start
2. type CMD
3 right-click and run as administrator
4. to check and repair the OS type sfc/scannow (note the space between sfc and ' / ')

You may need to run this upward to 3 times to solve all the problems

When finished, it will say one of three things
Windows did not find any breach of integrity (a good thing)
Windows resource protection found corrupt files and repair the (good)
Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some (or all) of them (not a good thing)

Try to reinstall the printer.

Step 4: activate the built-in Windows administrator account

source

1. first of all, you'll need to open an administrator mode command prompt by right-clicking and choosing "run as Administrator" (or use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Enter in the search box).

Note that it works the same in all versions of Windows. It just search for cmd and then do a right-click on the icon of the command prompt in the start menu or the boot screen.

2. If you are in Windows 8.x or 10 you can click on the Start button and choose to open a command prompt in this way.

3. now type the following command:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

4. you should see a message that the command completed successfully. Log out, and you will now see the administrator as a choice account.

(Note that this screenshot is for Vista, but it works on Windows 7 and Windows 8 and Windows 10)

You will notice that there is no password for this account, so if you want to leave it enabled, you must change the password.

Try to reinstall the printer.

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my desktop and laptop.  The desktop or laptops are part of my home network.  I have the HP Officejet 4635e installed as part of the home network and I have installed the HP software on two systems.  The printer works properly.  I am able to print, scan and HP 4635 passed the fax test.  However when I run Windows Update I get the following error message:

All the other updates install successfully.  This problem occurs when I run Windows Update on the desktop and laptop.  Can you provide any help on how to solve this problem?

It has what is called a "phantom update".  I get the same error when I run the update in Windows 10.  Unfortunately there is no way in Windows 10 to hide an update as in previous versions.  Then simply ignore these updates failed and continue on our merry way.  Ghost updates occur through Microsoft when our software is up to date and they are not aware.  Maybe Microsoft will correct Windows 10 to hide updates later.

  • Officejet 4635 scan quality

Hi, I just bought an Officejet 4635 to replace my old Photosmart D110. Everything is connected and working, but I'm a little disappointed by the quality of the scan. I regularly need to scan documents to PDF format, then send the service of fax, which converts & faxes sent to insurance providers. I need to use the scanner to do what insurance providers will only pay-out after receiving an invoice signed by the customer. The D110 has done a great job, but in testing the 4635 JO, I am not very impressed. Yes it works, but for some reason, the quality is poor. Printing is difficult to read & shaded areas & lines of the invoice do not come through at all (and it's all just scanning to PDF & print). It is difficult to imagine them being readable at all after being converted again and sent by fax.

Is the issue of quality due to the difference in scanners (Photosmart VS Officejet)? I mess with the contrast and brightness settings, but they improve the quality. BTW, the printer did a great job, I think that my problem occurs when the document is scanned and converted to PDF. Thanks in advance for any insigt to my problem. Tim

Hi Tim, thanks for the answer!

I would recommend running a copy to see if there is a difference in quality.

I also recommend to download and run the HP print and Scan Doctor.

  • HP Officejet 4635 e-all-in-one printer prints multi-page document

Hello, I have a HP Officejet 4635 e-all-in-one printer and can't print a multiple page document. The printer will print all except the two or three first pages, stopping in the middle of the last page it is printing, and then ejected from the page, usually with the third print top. At this point, I get an error message on my computer screen that says: "cannot print from xxxxdocument. I can go back into the print menu and select the pages that are not print and manually fill the work, but which requires sometimes two or three attempts, that the printer stops again impression after two or three pages.

My operating system is Windows 8, the printer is connected to my wireless router which is on the same floor, the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet. I met this problem until print 28.0 Firefox, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. The documents included diagrams, sheets of computing, graphics and text. Oddly enough, I think I'm able to print several pages (of least until 4 on my last attempt) of Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

I have no page unique impression of difficulties from the browser or any installed program and am able to print from my devices android as well, although I still have to try multiple pages printing app. The problem seems to occur more often if I try to print more than two pages.

I searched on the Web site, looked through the installation of printer troubleshooting, including the instructions under "step 3: If your printer is connected to your wireless router, but you can't print (or scan). Nothing I've tried has helped him.

I wish I had a solution to this problem.

    Thank you very much.

  • HP OfficeJet All In One 4635: HP officejet 4635 does not print

Bought a new HP Officejet 4635 all-in-one today.  Installation is complete, do not print anything.  Run wireless on Windows 8.1.  The Test results wireless network print, says no problem found.  Unable to print from the internet, word or excel (from Office 365).  Already reinstalled printer twice.  I don't get an error message, the work appears in the queue but then disappears without printing anything.  I don't have Norton or MacAfee.  Help! I already spent all day fighting with it.

HP provides a free tool called HP Print and Scan doctor to diagnose and troubleshoot printing and scanning.

  • OfficeJet 4635 cancel the firmware update because my ink cartridges are for older versions of the product

I was happy with my officejet 4635 until I clicked on ok to apply for the HP firmware update. He said that it would improve my printer. However, demand has not said that my ink cartridges may not work if I installed the update. I clicked on ok and the update has been successfully installed. Now I can't print anything because I get an error message saying the I have ink cartridges are designed for older versions of the product. I do not use the new HP cartridges because they cost too much. I used cartridges refilled abacus in Az. Phhoenix which worked fine up until I did the update of the firmware of HP. I need to go back to the old system, so I can print again. I am connected to a desktop computer HP envy running windows 8.1. I'm furious HP to try and force you to buy their new cartridges with an update of something. I think that whoever came up with this update should be fired. Any help with a solution would be appreciated.

I was told that there is no way to undo the update of the firmware. HP did send me a few ink cartridges so I could print again, but I am still ticked about the way this has been ensured by HP. They have not told me that my old version cartridges would not more work after updating firmware. I think that it is simply dishonest on part of HP and I am sure that other customers have been captured by this update of the firmware. I am sure it was a HP effort going to force you to use their new cartridges. I'll be very careful on the acceptance of the updates from HP in the future.

I have turned off the machine on again (and it doesn't)

I turned off the computer and unplug the unit (and it does not fix it)

Without specific error code I'm not sure what to do

Hi CHCA. Your Officejet 6500 must be out of warranty? You can doublecheck the warranty status of your printer here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/weInput?cc=ie & lc = on -if it is still under warranty, you should not pay for a new printheaad.

But if your printer is no longer under warranty, you buy one a. The part that you really need to order an Officejet 6500, is CN643A. If you are in the United States, here are the HP part store page where you can order the new print head Assembly: http://h20141.www2.hp.com/HPPARTS/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=C580393F30964EDD82B16A5C641BEC41 & Searchin' PartNumber = & SearchPN = CN643A

If you are not in the United States, start from this page: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwhowtobuy.html , specify your country and search for CN643A.

Jam - HP Officejet 8500 pro error - please help, not deployed to M.E. no return w/lovely HP option

I have a month old HP Officejet 8500 Pro, which suddenly give a paperjam error message.  There is no paper jam.  I spoke with HP Technical Support making long resets even blow the bowels to air without result.  It must be a simple mistake.  I saw it reported on other boards, but it seems that everyone is simply trading on their printers.  Not an option, like HP, in their infinite wisdom will not replace a defective unit overseas.

I thought that there is a paper feed guide that hung above the paper tray.  It's hangin' is low... but maybe I was mistaken. If I tilt the printer back it will feed and eject a page, but not print.

If someone at HP would be so likely to enlighten me I would willingly do what is necessary to take part, or whatever...

  • HP Officejet 4635 e-all-in-one: 4630 4635 vs

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but all I have is a simple question and that is: what is the difference between the Officejet 4635 and 4630 Officejet?

Hi there, there is no difference at all between the two models in terms of specs, the 4635 is a derivative which is probably sold by a particular retailer. Here is the link to the specifications of the printer for the Officejet 4630 of printers series where you can see that there is no distinction between the respective derivatives.

    Hope that answers your question.

  • OfficeJet 4620: No number of scan

My office is upgraded to this printer. My boss has the same printer. Its numbers of its analyses, one in our office does not work. Scans of numbering is what makes us buy this model.  Can I change the settings to automatically number the scans?

    Yes,

The HP Officejet 4620 software press on scan a document or photo.

Select the required analysis shortcut and click Advanced settings.

Open the Destination folder, select the target folder and clear the check box to display the dialog box save as, then click OK and Scan.

Later analysis is saved in the folder configured with automatic numbering.

  • OfficeJet 6600 will not computer scan

Hi, printer see the desktop but cannot access. Office has the scan of the active computer. Update driver and software for later. Downloaded Print & Scan doctor. Test comes with "Pilot error" - the scanning driver is unable to communicate with the device. Impressions of the fine of office. Running win 7 pro 64 bit, printer connected via usb. After scan doctor troubleshooting it says to contact support. Any thought that I am pulling my hair out. Thank you

Hello, I solved the scanning problem is none of the above. It turns out that this printer is not backwards compatible with usb 3.0 ports. I bought a USB 2.0 expansion card to install it in the computer and viola, it works. I had to find someone with this printer on another computer to check this first. My printer on a USB 2.0 on a different computer worked well. Problem solved

  • OfficeJet 4635: printing avery 8160 labels - correct alignment

Can anyone suggest where/how do I get help with printing labels Avery8160 on my Officejet 4635.  I tried to use Avery templates and other options on the site of Avery, Avery downloaded on Word 2010, using HP Photo Creations with labels Avery, tried to use models of success in the past on this printer, which I have not yet used for the labels.

Everything seems perfect for the labels on the computer with all the editing screen and centered, but when we print the text is not aligned in the location of the label and not all three columns are centered.  I'm lucky if three or six labels on thirty are usable.  It's @# $% & frustrating.  I too lose paper, labels and ink, not to mention my time!  I also tried to use brochure mast as suggested in a post.  That did not help either...

My last 3 in 1 HP printer does very well with the labels - they were child's play.

    Hi Trinkie.

We retested printing of labels Avery 8160 with HP Photo Creations and two different printers Officejet and could not reproduce the problem of misalignment. (We used the default device and HP Photo Creations print settings panel.)

To be clear, the options of scaling I mentioned above would be in the control panel of the printer itself, you can reach by clicking on the blue printer settings link on the HP Photo Creations print screen. (This link is between the printer and the paper size in my screenshot of menus.) I think that you have checked that. However, if you have not installed the long drivers for your printer, you will see fewer options. It's a possibility.

It is a long shot, but engineers thought that it would be possible that you are using J8160 stock. It is a format of A4 paper and would produce out misaligned.

    Hope this helps,

  • HP Officejet 4635 offline

Whenever I try to print on my brand new HP Officejet 4635, my phone tells me that the printer is "offline". Everything is connected correctly (wireless), and the signal strength is 'Excellent '. I restarted my laptop, and I turned the printer off and then on again. Even after I do this... sometimes it prints and sometimes he still tells me she is "offline." I am sure that there must be something simple "click" to simply place the printer "online"... I don't know what it is. Can anyone help? Thank you.

    Hi @CaptVydeo ,

    The printer must be left.

Plug the power supply directly to a wall outlet works. Do not connect it a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

Have you tried a different wall jack?

You can call our technical support at the 800-474-6836. If you do not live in the United States / Canada region, please click on the linkfor the number of support in your region. They will be happy to help you immediately.
