  I think the problem might be the way that the printer and fax are connected. I have a cable modem and the telephone line goes directly from the modem jack. My phone service is through Comcast cable, then nothing is plugged directly into the wall jack to the phone.

  I have a phone on the same phone number, which is plugged into the upper Jack on the printer. The (phone) cord frrom the modem cable to the printer is plugged directly underneath.

  Everything seems correct.

  Your phone line has a service of voice mail on this subject?

  Voicemail could be intercepted the fax before that the printer gets it.

  Run a test fax report to determine the status of fax on the printer and whether or not it is properly configured to send and receive faxes.

  I'm sorry you have a problem with your fax. You may need to get a converter. Faxing with digital is not always guaranteed. It's so of transmitters and digital communication and that it is unable to send or receive.

  Check your connections.

  1. LINE 1 on the printer goes directly to the wall jack or LINE 1 of the modem (if you have package, cable, internet and telephone).

  2 LINE 2 on the printer go to the phone.

  The problem has been that bad, I have installed the software.  You must go through a stop, taken modem, start and run the Setup program in that order.  It's all working now, thanks for the reply.

• Can send but cannot receive faxes on HP Laserjet on Mac 10.9 Mavericks with answering machine TAM

  I have an iMac running OS 10.9 (Mavericks) and a machine to print/scan/fax all-in-one HP Laserjet Professional M1212nf MFP connected by USB.  I have a phone with answering machine connected system.

  I can send faxes of the HP and the Mac (using the pdf fax).  What I can't do, is to receive faxes on the HP (I know that the Mac cannot receive faxes with this machine).  I tried all the combinations of parameters without result even unplug the phone/answering machine without result.

  Any ideas what I need the settings?

  It is definitely a head scratcher! I found some additional information from the following link, you use a product of Fax HP with a telephone answering machine (TAM).

  I found this interesting presentation text, when recording the outgoing message on your TAM, share of voice must be at least 10 seconds of time, but not more than 20 seconds . Save 5-7 seconds of silence at the end of the vocal part of your outgoing message (message coming out would be your voice message length plus the extra 5 to 7 seconds of recorded silence ).

  I suddenly have problems to receive faxes. Alone was able to cross over early today, and as I understand it, it took 8 minutes to my fax machine to connect. I get error reports saying type is "received" and result in "error 244 *.» I tried instructions support on the HP site, and those who, unfortunately, were not very useful. One thing, I thought may be useful was turning power switch on the ECM - however, it is not all the instructions to do it on my model!

  Running Mac OS 10.7.4

  My Fax is on a separate phone line: it's a VOIP line I've had for quite some time

  Hello. I can't receive fax but. I can send faxes.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software.  I went through each list of troubleshooting on the hp site. Help!

  Uninstall and reinstall the software won't help sending faxes, unless you try to fax from the computer.

  You have a package with cable, internet and phone all together?
  If so, this is not guaranteed to work because it is Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). Your fax will fail because it has too many issuers trying to communicate at the same time and it is not always able to successfully pass.

  If you do not have this bundle, check the connection. Check the back of the printer LINE 1 goes directly into the wall outlet. EXT 2 goes in the phone.

  Go to your printer.
  1. Select settings
  2. the configuration of the fax
  3. the configuration of the ADVANCED fax
  4 turn on the Error Correction Mode (ECM) - OFF
  5. turn your Fax speed SLOW

  If you have a modem, LINE 1 connect to the printer on 1 LINE to the modem. EXT 2 would always go to the phone.

  Run your test fax and check your results. I hope this helps.

  Our 8500 at the office, most of the time does not receive complete faxes. Connection is lost and we get the half page. It is connected via an ethernet cable to our network. All other functions seem to work well

  I realized you're part receive faxes, here's a guide that might help you, can send faxes but cannot receive them.

  If you want the Guide for your printer accurate please post product/model number of your printer and I will answer.  You will find the product/model number of your printer by following this link.

  If you get the error 3-digit codes please use this link.

  After you are done with the guide, you can test the fax using Fax HP. the Service of Test.

  One last question, is your analog or digital phone line VoIP line?

  Please respond if you have additional questions after completing the troubleshooting documents.

  Sorry, I don't understand this sentence right at all. You need two things to
  Send and receive faxes: a telephone line and a fax modem. You say that you have
  a telephone line, which is one of the two things you need, not something
  preventing you to send or receive faxes. But you don't say anything
  on the question of whether you have a fax modem.

• Photosmart 7520-e cannot receive fax fax only computers

  I tried everything tech support told me to do it so far.  Hard reset, unplug the power supply, change fax speed but always that nothing does.  I can receive faxes when they come directly from a computer, but when a personal fax machine tries, sending fax machine rings and rings and on my end it never receives.  It says failed to receive.  I have the auto answer set to 2.

  Everything I did!  The text of fax says everything is fine but it is not very well!  I use an old fax to the fax machine.  This HP is useless!

  I have a 7520e HP Photosmart printer.  I have a separate phone line for faxes and I have my fax value 'auto response '.  However I can't receive faxes unless I press the button "accept".  This means that when a fax arrives, and I'm not to my fax printer are not received.  What I am doing wrong?  Thank you.

  Hey filgrastin,

  This is often caused by the distinctive ring feature.  I would advise to verify that this option is set on.

  • Press Fax on the front panel of the 7520
  • Press Fax Setup in the bottom left of the touch screen
  • Select Advanced Configuration of the fax
  • What is distinctive ring on?

  If you don't have a special ringtone for your fax line, or are not sure of this, so I recommend setting this feature to all the rings.
