HP Officejet K5400 printhead must be cleaned

I have the K5400 where I work.  I discovered that (because of the lines of horizontal white streaks on my copies), the print head needs to be cleaned.

I can't - in the manual I - understand how to get the printhead of the printer.

Could you help me please?

Thank you

Virginia Browning

I had to replace the Black/Yellow Printhead on my officejet K5400 printer pro a few months ago for the first time since the purchase of the printer a few years ago.

The print head seems to have gone again as the printhead light and power light flashes. I followed the manual and cleaned the heads, turned the power on and off etc. ; all the usual troubleshooting but to no avail.

Is it possible the printhead to go again so quickly?

I do a lot of printing, but not more than I've done since the purchase of the printer.

I am reluctant to pay for an another print head if this will become a common problem and would rather put the money towards a new printer, but in the meantime, I don't have a printer.

    Ciara,

No additional guarantee. We bought the printhead of a seller ebay in July of this year.

Since posting my first message here, we bought a HP printhead & the printer works fine.

Hope this lasts a bit longer than its predecessor!

    Hello

Have you changed the boot order?

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order and boot from the Windows 7 DVD:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

  • OfficeJet k5400 prints then all the lights light up yellow, power down then turn on printer resets loan

OfficeJet k5400 prints then all the lights light up yellow, power down then turn on printer resets loan. It's all new HP Officejet pro 8000 to had the power to issue even down to reset.

Looks like the power module is out. It's the black brick in the power cord. The only way to replace it is to contact HP, but before you do that, try to reset the module. The document following the link will guide you through it. If you are still in warranty, HP can replace the printer without cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link takes you to a form to fill out. Once you fill it and she is treated, it will give you the printers warranty information, a file number and the phone number to call.

  • HP Officejet Pro K550: Software to clean the print head

I need tool box for old HP printer: HP Officejet Pro K550, for 10-64 bit Windows.
I need a software tool to clean the print head!

    Hello

The HP Toolbox software is no longer available for your printer for any later OS such as Windows 7, 8 or 10:

    http://support.HP.com/in-en/document/c03467279

You can align, clean and calibrate the printhead from the printer itself by using key press combinations.

See page 33 on its manul below to perform all the tasks of cleaning for the front panel of the printer, such as the cleaning of the printheads:

  • levels of ink onto printer officejet K5400 with windows 7

recently turned to a new computer with windows 7 and downloaded the compatible print driver 64 bit works fine but there is no tool more for ink levels and no way to determine which of the 4 ink ink cartridges when I get a message of ink out of.  print test page didn't help not-show not good, even when she ink give ink levels and all the boxes.  does anyone have a solution?

    Hello chickenman,.

    Hmm, ok. Let's try this:

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program HP Imaging\bin or C:\Programs\HP\Digital Imaging\bin. You will find a file called hpqtbx01.exe. That right click and select "Create shortcut" right-click on the shortcut you created and select Properties. In the area called target, add "HP Officejet Pro K5400 series" after the existing path if it looks like this: "C:\Program HP Imaging\bin\hpqtbx01.exe" 'HP Officejet Pro K5400 series' (note the space between the path and the name of the printer). It might be that for you, the name of the printer must be different because it must match what we call the printer in printers and devices, but if you have not renamed the printer after installing it just, you should be able to copy the above.

When you use this shortcut to open the Toolbox, you should be able to see the ink levels etc. Place the shortcut on the desktop and rename it to something that makes sense, like Officejet Pro K5400 Toolbox or something like that.

    Hello @Cynusps

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

Looks like you did more troubleshooting for your question.  I do not recommend remove the printhead again and clean the copper contact us about this.  Ink can get on the copper contacts not cause the print head to get a good signal of the printer and cause poor quality.

Print heads are also a replaceable part in the printer and must be replaced as cartridges from time to time.   Here is a document concerning the fixing of problems of quality Print for the HP Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-One Printer Series.  If you fill the document with no resolution, you may need to replace the print head.

  • Problem with the HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: clean the print heads each time it is turned on

    Hello everyone,

the printer HP all-in-one Officejet Pro 8500 (A909a - product n. CB022A) clean the print heads whenever I turn it on. This problem affects any HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer, it is not a problem only of this one I bought. It is a boring bug and annoying because each power clean print heads on involves two bad disadvantages:

    1. waste of ink (each heads cleaning process consumes little ink);
    2. too much time (2-3 minutes) to prepare the printer after plugging.

I upgraded my printer with the latest firmware available on the HP site (firmware ver. DLM1FN1006BR), but the bug is still present.

    At this point, I ask:

    1. There is a way (or procedure) to disable automatic cleaning this useless to all power on?
    2. Can we communicate with the HP engineers or tell me how to contact directly one of them to indicate the bug and request a new firmware updated?

Please don't tell me to leave the printer on all the time or that the printheads to each cleaning power is normal behavior! Where then are power and ink savings claimed for this printer model?

I hope that a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance to everyone will help me!

Maintenance when the printer is turned on is normal and is required to keep the printheads in good health (not blocked). See here for more information.

With respect to energy savings, the printer automatically goes to low power mode when the don't feel not for awhile.  It is not necessary turn the unit on to save energy.

  • OfficeJet pro K5400. It is supported for windows 7

Have acquired an old but unopened K5400 printer. Cannot determine from the information available, it can be used with Windows 7. I can say that this product does not appear under "Printers supported" or "unsupported printers. Would like to know if it can be used with windows 7.

You're right on there is not not all drivers Windows 7 for your Officejet K5400, but he is listed as an available printer when I go to file devices and printers and select Add a printer.  This link will give you further instructions on how to print from your computer.  I would like to know if I can be more useful.

Always happy to help!  Good luck!
