HP Pavilion 14-v043tx: laptop stays on after turning it off

This happened since I updated to Driver Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI).

After that I tried to turn off my computer (start-> Power-> Shut Down), the laptop turns on (the power LED remains lit even when the drive LED and more it stops flashing). I tried to let it go for a while because I think it's a sort of background to start the process or else.

For a long time I tried is long about 5 minutes, and the always ON power (the drive LED already stopped), because of this I have force-tap holding down the power button / stop. After trying to turn it back on, it seems that there is no problem on that (my system started normally). It was happened twice since then, after updating

Is something wrong with my laptop?

It's normal.  You can turn on your laptop and log in all with a single blow.  Try it.  Power off your system and then drag your finger.  If it's a good shot and it is recognized, you are to go turned off to the turning on and connected in your office all with one shot.  You won't even have to re-do slide to authenticate with the operating system.

Hi Im having this problem... after I got the administrator password or power on password issue, that has been fixed with your help... its now been sitting at the screen "" diagnose your PC"" since then... its been over an hour? Help, please!

Looks like a problem with the hard drive. I have seen that also trigger a sudden asks for a password when none was set.Computers to do weird things sometimes.

Stop it, wait a few minutes then power up. Immediately, press the ESC key. In the menu press F2 System Diagnostics and test the hard drive.

  • XP hangs after "loading your personal settings...". ». Boots fine after turning power off and turn on again.

This has happened since the installation of ThreatFire.  Freezes when you 1st start of the day, with success during the 2nd test.

Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and start safe mode.  Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan mode without failure.  To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode.  Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem.  To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore.  Click on the box that says show more restore points.

You can check the corrupted system files.  Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE, then click on run as administrator. Then from the command prompt, type sfc/scannow.

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log.  To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools.  Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

  • HP Pavilion 15 laptop does not properly turned off

Hi everyone, I am faced with a wireframe, annoying problem with my less than a month old HP Pavilion Notebook 15-p029tx.

Sometimes, after pressing 'Shut Down', within the screen 2 seconds turns black, but the laptop would not extinguish itself, i.e. fan and power lights stays on always (once, I waited for 1 hour, like only the screen off & pc does not respond, occurs at the same time plugged / battery power). So, I press the power button for 5 seconds to turn it off. The next time he acts as restart, i.e. takes longer to boot and windows plays the startup sound.

This kind of wired issue does not occur on every stop down. It happens probably once in two days of use. Standby, hibernation works very well.

Configuration of the laptop: Pavilion 15-p029tx; 4 GB; Intel I3; 2GB NVIDIA; 8.1 Windows x 64 only language; 1 TB HARD DRIVE. Latest version of Windows, HP drivers, Antivirus updates are installed. PC is in good condition (defragmented HDD, registry, Ccleaner cleaning). Does not overheat is not possible: I have cooling pad and the weather is cold here.

Steps I performed to fix the problem: Updated to latest Bios F.12; Reset bios default setting; made all the system from the bios, no found error diagnostics. Today, I run 10 stop test with different conditions, but it has never happened during the tests! Also all the usb ports give power during this gel.

But I don't know, I would have to hold down the power button / stop again in the next two days.

Experts please help me to resolve the issue, its very annoying when I'm in hurry, hurry to stop, lid closed, and next time, when I leave the laptop in the bag, it would always be running / power!

    Sorry for my bad English.

I found the root of the problem. The culprit was Mcafee. After you remove Mcafee, it works well!

    Hello

Try disabling the hybrid Windows 8 start - you can do the following.

Right-click in the battery icon in the taskbar and select Power Options - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close open windows and stop the laptop by right clicking on the icon from the Start Menu, select prompt (Admin) and click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.

Type (or copy and paste) the following command (including spaces) and click Enter.

    Shutdown /s /t 0

Start the laptop and let Windows take over completely for a few minutes before checking if it is now shut down properly in the Start Menu.

If this has fixed the problem, it may be useful by turning the quick start back on - sometimes simply remove and re-create the file will solve the problem.

I wish I had some good news for you, but I did not...

It seems that the screen has turned off, at least while it runs Windows.

About all you can do is that this point is to try to run some diagnostics incorporated - since the PC does not have Windows for those, I hope that the display will work.

Turn off your laptop, restart and continue to press F2 until you get a menu on screen or it starts to beep.

When the menu is displayed, choose the option run diagnostic - and report what is happening after that.

    Good luck

    Hi @JFR77,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook and no sound after a updated Windows 10. I uninstall that I listed in the audio, video and game controllers first and reboot the laptop. Then download the driver Audio IDT high definition (HD).

    You can try:

    1. a click right icon "speaker" (right)
    2. Select playback device
    3. click right speakers
    4 activate and as default
    5. click apply/OK

Here is a link to troubleshoot the sound.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you.

  • Why my laptop restarts automatically after shut down when connected or not connected

Hello Sir, I have HP PAVILION DV4 series laptop. I am currently using WINDOWS 7. But since 1 month it appeared the problem, my laptop automatically restarts after you close when it is connected or not connected. After that I end my laptop shut down normally. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of community of Microsoft.

I would be grateful, if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the question?

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

2 you receive error messages or codes to the computer restarts?

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check.

Method 1: perform the clean boot.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. Check this question in the clean boot state.

Reference: How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, read the sections "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

If the problem persists, try Method 2.

    Method 2: System File Checker.

You can run the System File Checker tool and check if it helps. SFC scan will scan system files corrupted on your computer. You can read the following article to use the appropriate System File Checker tool.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

If the question did not resolve, try Method 3.

    Method 3:

You can view the steps proposed by cavehermitt in the following link:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-performance/Windows-7-computer-restarts-automatically-after/daeb457a-3509-4BE9-a85b-2935c8c3e108

Important: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    Back up the registry
